>I’ve never actually finished it
>I almost feel like there’s still no game more difficult than it. Every time I try to play it I end up getting 'Game Over' a few too many times and giving up partway through. Certainly after playing the original Zelda for the first time, I didn’t ever think that I wanted to make a game like that.
How did Miyamoto let this hack be in charge of the series?
Neither has most of Ganker
btw you all should play it. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5752/
>I almost feel like there’s still no game more difficult than it.
Evidently, He never played Zelda 2 either
>play this amateur romhack by some brazilian kids who think they know better than Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka and claimed they've fixed the game
Fark off
I don't see the point of pretending that a 38 year old NES game is flawless.
this romhack is so good, the game is actually playable now
i have a bad heacache rn and it's tiresome, what rom do i need for this? it's not working on v1.1 from vimm
>* The Legend of Zelda NES ROM (Legend of Zelda, The (USA).nes, MD5: 337bd6f1a1163df31bf2633665589ab0)
got it now thanks but
any idea why they didnt patch the rev a version?
romhacks are usually built off the most common 1.0 version of a game
Frick this man. That quote about him never wanting to make a Hard game explain garbage like Wind Waker and TP
I couldn't beat the final dungeon. Having to re grind up your hearts when you died don't help matters much.
Yeah I didn't either because that shit is mad boring
Zelda wasn't good until Link to the Past
And nu-Zelda fanboys will turn around and insist that BotW/TotK are like the NES games, lol. What a joke.
It's Aonuma who claimed BotW (and Wind Waker) were inspired by Zelda 1. But they're not, aside from having an open world and a couple enemy references.
Frick man I miss Iwata just killing people with words and then (laughs)
My wife.
Woah, MILF alert!
I guess that explains why he keeps forgetting dungeons were 50% of the experience.
probably can't make it past level 6
ehh im the same to be honest
there is something arcade-ish about zelda 1, i dont want to finish it. but i finished all the other zeldas
Explains the enemy ai in the new ones
newer ones? are you fricking moronic. It's been like this since wind wanker and toilet princess you dumb homosexual
I only finished LoZ in the middle of the pandemic because there was nothing else to play besides what was on NSO. Even then I couldn’t bring myself to finish TAOL.
>TAOL
Black person what
You can't just put things in acronyms and expect us to know what the frick you're talking about
The Adventure of Link.
>Zelda 2 so shit nobody even remembers the subtitle
Just say Zelda 2 like the rest of the world
I've never seen anyone refer to Zelda 2 as TAOL kek
>he didnt play LOZ, TAOL ALTTP
No one uses TAOL. It's AoL, like OoT. When listing a title in English, you don't capitalize letter like "of", "to", "the", except when it's the first letter of the title.
What do they teach these morons in schools these days?
It's great though, and the new PC remake is spectacular. Redux is also a good entrance point for a noobie
He's right. The NES games are shit
Zelda only got good with ALttP
Zelda 1 was the rough draft. LTTP was the final finished product. It perfected all the ideas the first game introduced.
>terrible sword swing
>slower movement
>less free roaming
>dual world mechanic has never been my thing in any game
>introduced the cancer that is heart pieces
LttP is still a good game. But as a kid and still to this day I prefer Zelda 1 over it. Sometimes the simpler game is actually better.
that explains why he thinks botw is a throwback to it
>Eiji Aonuma
>never played a video game before joining Nintendo
>installed as the Zelda lead by Miyamoto
>because he had a knack for dungeon design
>makes rather lame Zelda games for 20 years
>then turns Zelda into a soulless Ubislop clone
>removes classic dungeons
>replaces them with 120 shitty shrines and three extremely lame mini-dungeons
>now you can even build a Flintstones car!
I wish he would just go away.
>>Eiji Aonuma
as the Zelda lead by Miyamoto
Yoshiaki Koizumi should have gotten this role and everyone knows it.
We were robbed of four great Zelda games.
And Kato should have been put in charge of Metroid instead of Sakamoto. But Koizumi got put in charge of Mario and Kato got put in charge of Pokemon Company. Nintendo has the same problem as all Japanese companies. Forced promotion.
>Eiji Aonuma
The man who killed Zelda.
Aonuma is a yes man, not a visionary like Miyamoto was
KWAB
I'm not sure of the hate against Aonuma is troll hate like Todd Howard or legitimate actual hate. Where is all this coming from?
Aonuma has been hated for years zoomer. Todd isn't hated because he's a meme
I figured it was real hate, but it just seems much more aggressive now. Maybe because development between BotW and TotK was 6-7 years long, but I still don't get it. Aonuma was literally one of the heads of Ocarina of Time and literally made the #1 and #2 best selling Zelda games of all time, so I don't know why everyone hates him.
Ocarina of Time had 4 directors. Aonuma's shittiness didn't start until he took full control of the series in the GC era
Much of it is ignorance. And no, I'm not defending Aonuma. I'm just pointing out that much of the hate is basically "he made some Zelda games I don't like." And really, this is the problem. Aonuma has been the head of the series for a long time. And has changed the formula of Zelda multiple times. From making a bunch of Ocarina of Time clones, to then making highly experimental games like the DS/Wii games, then making BotW which he claimed "went back to the roots of Zelda."
But the problem with all of these is, fans of one type of Zelda will inevitably be angry when they're replaced with a new formula. And the vast majority of Zelda fans grew up in the Ocarina-Twilight period. And to this day, keep complaining that's what a "true" Zelda game should be. So obviously they hated the handheld games and the new BotW games, which did something different. They also retroactively hate the first 4 Zelda games.
Its like Final Fantasy fans. Who think all FF games should be like [the first FF game I played]. Then get mad when the series changes. But this again is not a defense of Aonuma. Because a lot of the games he made were lackluster. And the changes he made felt like gimmicks and change just for the sake of change. Again, like Final Fantasy.
the games started being bad once he took full control of the series
>They also retroactively hate the first 4 Zelda games.
I very rarely see anyone crapping on the first 4 Zelda games, aside from Zelda 2.
I've seen countless people hating on them. Usually because they're "old" or "not 3D." Or like the guy whining in this thread, that they "didn't age well" (aka too hard for them).
zelda 1 has aged. badly. no one has made a game remotely close to zelda 1 since the gameplay style is no longer liked. not even indie devs.
>no one has made a game remotely close to zelda 1 since the gameplay style is no longer liked. not even indie devs.
Binding of Issac
3D Dot Game Heroes
Tunic
etc.
God I fricking hate this hack. Plz god bring back Koizumi and Miyamoto
>zelda 1
>difficult
i beat it when i was 7 in my uncles room when i stayed at my grandparents in 1996.
>i beat it when i was 7 in my uncles room when i stayed at my grandparents in 1996
No you didn't.
I played the game completely blind back in the day and would discuss game progress with other Zelda bros at school. It tooks us weeks to discover all of the secrets, finally reach Gannon and actually beat it. It was not an easy game for its time.
>It tooks us weeks to discover all of the secrets
By bombing every single wall and pushing every rock in the game. Good times. kek
the game world isnt so big that you cant just brute force most of it.
just bomb every tile in the game and you will be fine.
only that one bush is odd.
I got the game at age 3 (first NES game along with bundled Mario) and beat the game at age 9.
That honestly explains a lot.
Frick Aonuma but also frick Zelda 1
