Either nintendo’s next console is gonna bomb or the switch is gonna be around longer than expected. Let’s look at the facts, a new 3d zelda has released this year, mario kart 8 dx is still getting dlc, there are confirmed non remake/port games for next year like the peach game, and a new 2d mario game is being released at the end of this year. That isn’t even mentioning prime 4. All of this combined leaves a lot of games out of the running for launch titles for nintendo’s next console, assuming it is next year. I’d bet on 2025 or 2026 for nintendo’s next console at this point.
snoysissies.. Nintendo can't keep doing this to us! They have games!
Seriously rent-free. Is it safe to say tendieism is a mental illness like troonyism?
I'm pretty much done buying new video game hardware for the foreseeable future so I hope they take their sweet time on obsoleting the Switch.
They probably should
>nintendo’s next console is gonna bomb
Next time baby
If Nintendo's next console is a handheld it will do fine just like every other Nintendo handheld.
There's still no real competition. Neither the PS5 nor the Xbox have any games yet.
Will the PS5 ever get games? Can't believe it's been 3 fricking years
>Will the PS5 ever get games? Can't believe it's been 3 fricking years
Fricking ridiculous. Switch gets more exclusives in one month than PS5 has had in 3 fricking years. How?
Graphics autism is genuinely killing the industry. We need to go back.
>How?
Because up until early this year getting a PS5 or SeX was as hard as getting a Wii at launch. You literally had to subscribe to multiple Twitter bots and some people even had to use Discord bots and then you had to wait in a queue on some sites hoping you got access to buy the system. The chip shortage has meant that this gen still hasn't started until maybe this year, and that's still up for debate because only Squeenix and a couple indies are really making any attempt at pushing gen 9 forward. Everyone else is still content with being cross-gen right now.
You guys gotta remember that this gen isn't anything like other gens, they didn't have to deal with multiple years of chip shortages preventing consoles from even being made.
Because PS5 has this thing called backwards compatibility. It's when you can play games from disks of past generations. Xbox has it too. There are still games coming out to this day for the PS4 and you have the OPTION if you so choose to get the more performance boosted PS5 version so that you don't have a PS3 Dark Souls laggy Blighttown moment.
Even then, every heard of Final Fantasy XVI? Stellar Blade? Spider-Man?
Even for Nintrannies, this gaslighting is pathetic.
>There are still games coming out to this day for the PS4 and you have the OPTION if you so choose to get the more performance boosted PS5 version
oh cool so Bloodborne runs at 4k 60fps on PS5 right?
Neither does Switch.
It has a lot of great ports you can play in handheld
Keep saying it buddy, I'm sure the Switch's huge library will magically disappear eventually 😉
It's going to use an apple processor and have 3060 performance with a 10h battery
It will also include Apple Rosetta so you can emulate the Steam Deck.

It really is just padding. Fact is, Nintendo just doesn't even try as hard as it used to, and it shows.
Wonders and RPG remake release date doesn't make sense, especially Wonders.
Wouldn't it be better if they push it for December holidays sales?
Makes me think that Nintendo have something in store for us for that particular month.
Prime 4 is 100% going to be a cross-gen game
I'm fine with this, we don't need new hardware and I don't think I would buy a new console if it came out. I don't understand the drive to consoom and discard.
>we don't need new hardware
>>we don't need new hardware
Right.
Look at the PS5 compared to the PS4, did we really need it? I can barely tell the difference besides somecmore details in the graphics, but that minimal detail increase means exponential work for devs, leading to less games.
New consoles should only come out when there's been a massive leap in technology or when there's an untapped potential for new style of hardware.
>t. the moron with the shitty wifi every match causing everyone to lag and still claiming that the match is running smoothly
I've been buying video game hardware for like twenty years and feel like I can safely opt out of hardware for at least another ten years.
As long as switch keeps getting games, they'll be easy to emulate on PC.
yes long gens are best
You're comparing apples to oranges.
Assuming Nintendo will continue to operate like it does, meaning they don't care about the latest graphics-pushing AAA game, even then I'd say they need more powerful hardware.
All I'd want is for 1080p 60fps on all their first party games. I don't need them to dip their toes in 4K or whatever.
Despite them making good games, they very often make shit hardware propped up by gimmicks and my theory is twofold on why they do this:
1, to continue the Blue Ocean approach Iwata followed that finally paid off big time with this system and
2, to have an even tighter control on their IPs, further allowing them to be able to capitalize on nostalgia and have people thank them that they did the bare minimum remastering effort and deserve full price for it because hey, they worked really hard on bypassing their gimmick bullshit to resell you a decade old game again.
In all honesty they could release a Switch-like sucessor and it would bomb, all it needs is the latest Tegra chip which would allow for more processing power (the Switch chip is good already but is downclocked for battery life)
More memory bandwidth, which is the main issue with the current Swith and on top of that, the Tegra could use the same in-house DLSS technology to approach 1080p 60fps easily. I don't care about 8K bullshit in Nintendo games, they're always FUN and don't try to impress with graphics autism. I have my PC for that.
People who say this are just coping because they most recently bought the system. Let's be real. No sane person would actually be against upgraded hardware let alone believe that the Switch runs well for a modern console.
To be honest I actually feared Nintendo would move to a new console soon, but the new direct made me feel better. I just don't want more consoles and won't buy any more consoles.
all new flagship titles are not switch (1) games.
I bought a 128GB microSD card for my Switch 5 years ago, thinking it would be more than enough considering I only really play first-party exclusives on my Switch. Now I've run out of space on it and will probably have to upgrade it. I just hope that the eventual Switch successor will be fully backwards compatible with the Switch's library.
No new hardware until possibly early 2025. Question is, should people that want backward compatability buy games digitally or physically.
It would practically be impossible for the Switch successor to have physical-only backwards compatibility, considering even physical releases need additional digital content to function these days (e.g. patches and DLC). Digital is the safer bet for backwards compatibility, especially considering there are a lot of third-party developers that have released their games on eShop now and removing all digital backwards compatibility would just be a slap in the face for all of them if they suddenly have to go through the entire process again just to release their game on the new console.
Their sucessor will obviously be backwards compatible, making all of that a non-issue
Frick. I wanted a Switch price drop.
>There are confirmed non-remake games for next year like the peach game
not LIKE the peach game, ONLY the peach game, which is probably low budget shovelware if we're being honest. Nintendo has plenty of games saved up at this point. Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, Mario Part, Mario Kart, 3D Mario, 2D Zelda are all due for a new game soon. They can launch with those. Not to mention the elephant in the room, Metroid Prime 4.
Metroid Prime 4
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
Dragon Quest III HD-2D
MP4 is in no way confirmed to release next year, nor is it confirmed to even be a switch game. The other 2 aren't Nintendo. There is absolutely nothing right now suggesting Nintendo cant launch a console next year. Not that there is any proof they will either.
>nor is it confirmed to even be a switch game
Yes it is.
>The other 2 aren't Nintendo.
>B-B-B-BUT!
The cope is real with you, young one.
>Yes it is.
No it isn't. It doesn't even have a page on the eshop which is awfully suspicious for an upcoming switch game.
>No it isn't.
https://store.nintendo.co.uk/en/metroid-prime-4
>Metroid Prime 4 is currently in development for Nintendo Switch.
2D zelda is dead unless you are talking about 2.5D remakes. They can still remake and remaster their N64 and GameCube libraries
I am sure they will make a new one, doubt Link's Awakening was a one off thing
hello, do i buy MH generations ultimate or dragon's dogma? i have not played any MH and i dont want to spread myself out too much with rpgs so im only picking one
DD, just not on Switch. If you HAVE to but it for that system then just get Generations.
DD is great on Switch.
lmao
I'm not quite so enamored with them. I think they have definitely been dropping the ball more and more, at least on home consoles which c'mon the Switch is basically one, since the Wii.
But Nintendo has a pedigree that the game will (very probably) be bug-free and at least a 7/10, and that's something no other developer can really tout.
This is true
I got Kirby and the Forgotten Land the other day, i was in disbelief when I saw that the game was on version 1.0.0, it effectively had no fricking updates since its release one year ago, the game litterally just works.
Only Nintendo know how to make shit right nowadays
i think dd is better but im making use of the switch for fun (its not mine) so im leaning toward switch exlusives and thus Generations. I dont think i can go wrong with either.
also why the frick are games on switch so expensive? they make you pay AAA tier premium for 720p and kinda worse games compared to pc and console. the pricing is insane. thankfully dd and Generations are cheap and on sale
Switch games pretty much never drop too much in price. If you can wait a bit e-shop sales are usually decent.
https://www.dekudeals.com/
i was referring to the big names being highly priced. the sales are very nice, they bring it down to a fair price. i guess its all the demand and monopoly keeping it up, like mentioned
Yeah, it's because it's Nintendo-branded and they're in demand. Count yourself lucky, until the Switch you almost never saw sales outside of very specific holidays and Black Friday on previous systems or special discount versions that looked terrible, and it was usually only $10-$20 off at most. Nowadays the first party games are frequently going on sale and we don't have to deal with the cancer that is Nintendo Selects or Player's Choice anymore. The bigger problem is that the prices raise after the system dies by quite a lot, and even during current gen some of the popular games that went out of print like Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna, Pokemon SWSH + DLC physical, and Bayonetta 2 + Bayonetta 1 (DL) hit over $100 each. The only reason XC2's games and B2 are reasonably priced now is because a Canadian company reprinted them. Pokemon SWSH + DLC is still $120+.
>link
Yeah I use that and e-shop prices so I can shop around different regions for the cheapest games. I think nintendo jp has an app to track prices for the japanese e-shop but gaijins aren't allowed to download it and I haven't found a place like deku but for the nip store.
>also why the frick are games on switch so expensive?
Because games on the Switch sell
Games like BOTW, Mario Odyssey, and other big name are still in high demand years after they come out.
Meanwhile Ubisoft has to put out a -60% sales to sell their games after 3 months.
It also helps that Nintendo basically locked the handheld market down, they can do as they please.
Switch games are the cheapest out of the three. $60 vs $70
I think the anon meant "Why are old Switch games still so expensive"
>also why the frick are games on switch so expensive?
They're not. Many of them drop to $20-$30 fairly quickly, and nowadays Nintendo is actually doing sales on their games at regular intervals so you actually see their games for under $60 when it's not spring/winter sales or Black Friday. They currently have sales going on on their website for a majority of their first party stuff, I just got MUA3 and XC3 for $40 each.
disregard those 2 fricktard with atrocious taste
do yourself a favor and get MHGU
Seconding GU.
I'm a PCgay so I don't care about getting an Xbox. However, I was a Playstationgay since the original PS1 and I have to tell you the brand has shit itself so hard I don't even want to do my traditional slim/pro revision purchase. Like, Gran Turismo, the only game which would have guaranteed a buy from me, was a dogshit microtransaction fest with none of the soul or passion for cars like the predecessors. What a disaster.
They really should make a Switch Pro if they're not going to abandon it.
They missed that boat. I'm sure this will piss of people ITT, but more than the chip shortage, I'm convinced Nintendo didn't do this because guess what?
The casuals that bought a Switch are not going to buy another one with some very marginal updates if all they play is Mario Kart or Animal Crossing, and they have no idea what it means that Tears of the Kingdom is now 60fps.
Yeah, I know. I'm just frustrated, bought my nephew a switch lite 4 years ago and I've always wondered if I should have gotten him a regular one. But as time goes on and it becomes clear that this thing isn't going away for a while I feel like I should have gotten him the regular one. Granted, he loves the thing and my brother hasn't said anything negative, still wish I got him the regular switch.
Probably but if he really wanted one I'm sure he'd have begged his parents for one. Feeling bad about it is pointless.
I bought a Switch Lite for TOTK and so far I still don’t regret not getting the regular one
Got almost all of the big exclusive on it that peaked my interest, I’m only missing Bayonetta 2 and 3 an maybe Animal Crossing as well
I forgot how comfy handheld gaming was
That would be me, I won't buy a new switch for marginal benefits
There is basically no reason for Nintendo to innovate. The Switch is the definitive console. It just needs to improve technically. Handheld+console. Nobody wants gimmicks or weird controllers, they just want new software. It’s clear the graphical fidelity is not up to snuff for the bigger releases. TOTK looks pretty ugly.
>assuming it is next year
If you've been paying attention, Mario Kart 8 DLC only runs until the end of this year.
>games release on Switch
>30/60fps with dips
>games release on PS5
>30/60fps with dips
No difference.
