one of the few good threads about the game on here
You are maidenless
You will never be a maiden
at least we aren't virgin
Thank you Melina
Also she should have fought alongside us more often. Does she only appear as a fighter for that one fight? I am still stuck in the snow mountains.
Melina should have appeared more often in general. Making her a something like a Spirit Summon that acts like a weaker Tiche would have helped make it feel like she's travelling along with you.
On another note, I wish we could interact with the spirits more. It's not really necessary, but I always liked it when npcs behaved more like living things instead of just killing machines.
Based. Blocking a hit and then following it with a massive guard counter made my Str run so much fun. I wish people blocked with Greatswords more often.
>On another note, I wish we could interact with the spirits more.
that's something I'm starting to believe from's A team maybe incapable of doing. sure, we had some (limited) interactions with the firekeeper in 3, but B team lets us have interactions with every other NPC summon in the game. that said, an option to pet the jellyfish would be nice.
>petting Aurelia
>petting the wolves
>petting Torrent
>petting Tiche
Imagine...
>tiche watches the tarnished pet the firejars
>after singlehandedly obliterating the hero's grave miniboss, tiche kneels down and takes the tarnished's free hand
>and puts it on her head
Tiche is definitely the most popular summon outside of Mimic, right? The only ones I could imagine rivaling her (besides the aforementioned clone) are Latenna or Aurelia.
oh, I DID see that somewhere before. I was getting worried that I might have developed a slight ounce of originality.
Frick, I need to start running Tiche. She cute.
She's extremely strong, though most of her personality is one that the fandom just came to agree on.
>wanted to do a black knife playthrough
>knives absolutely suck
The weapon art, while not as strong as Tiche's, is still really strong. It can do as much damage as Comet. Shame about the regular damage.
Id probably sub in using curved swords or katanas since they are far superior
>make melina your first ghost glovewort ash
>equivalent of having an actual npc companion with you for the whole game
>just uses a dagger and heals to start
>ash leaves your inventory for Leyndell
>post-morgot you get a new version of the Ash with her full bossfight moveset
frick this would have actually worked great
cheater thread
can you send me the rules of elden ring are being broken?
they weren't anywhere in the game, so i haven't seen them. are they in a strategy guide or something?
You didn't beat the game if you didn't summon Melina
>one playthrough away from getting plat on PS5 version after my ps4 plat
>try to remind myself to summon melina because i forgot to do it the last time
>forgot about it again
>get plat
>ask myself if i missed something
>nope
>get to this thread and read this comment
I agree with everything except the bit about checking the wiki, that is absolutely unnecessary and moronic
yeah but you still beat the game.
>Meet NPC somewhere near the beginning of the game
>Game gives you no indication of where NPC will be next
>Go to the wrong part of the open world next
>Quest permanently locked
Yeah, unnecessary and moronic. Quests are one of the things From legitimately did poorly in Elden Ring. Souls quests don't work in an open world.
you don't need to do everything in a vidya game
the spontaneity is fun
>you don't need to do everything in a vidya game
I never said that though. Being able to follow an NPC questline in a game otherwise devoid of non-cutscene interactions and actual story is not a big ask.
>the spontaneity is fun
For you, maybe. I don't like meeting an interesting NPC and then having a considerable chance of missing out on future interactions. I don't like missing a huge chunk of the story and lore because I didn't go to the 'right place' at the 'right time' in an open world game. It's poor design.
>I don't like meeting an interesting NPC and then having a considerable chance of missing out on future interactions
i really don't care in a souls game, and neither should you
if ER was your first souls game, i'd understand, but if not, you're a fricking idiot
it's shit writing, but they've been doing this since boggleborne
Why do you feel the need to defend poor design by telling people to have lower expectations?
I like Souls writing and lore. That's why I don't want to miss it because I passed an arbitrary red line in an open world game and permanently broke a questline.
Quests mainly work fine in the other Souls games, because the player follows a relatively linear progression with restricted movement. They don't work well in Elden Ring.
welcome to wiki culture
they don't expect you to find everything
if you miss it, it's on a wiki
idk if they even make printed strategy guides anymore, but that's the same source as a modern wiki
if you missed it, read the book next time, or watch it on youtube
You are literally supposed to miss a lot of NPC stuff first time through. The entire point is to find out yourself the weird go-abouts in multiple playthroughs naturally. I have a lvl186 character and I know what-all about Volcano Manor because I saw a summon sign that revealed a hidden wall, beat the boss, and every dipped the frick out on me.
Next character, I know I need to talk to everyone and do their tasks before finishing the boss. This is how the game is meant to be played to give new runs some added flavor.
>because i was a moron oblivious to the world surroundings means that everyone has to, that is the way the game is meant to be played
dumbfrick
>Notice a message mentioning a possible invisible wall
>Find the wall
>Proceed through
>Realize there is clearly more to the manor I unintentionally skipped that I am now aware of
>This means you are oblivious somehow
Do you just post for the sake of arguing, or are you actually just stupid?
I take shit takes such as yours and expose it, moron.
You never actually addressed a point, you just created a false scenario in your head and ran with it like it was the truth.
You said the game is meant to be played be ignoring the world and being oblivious. That is a shit take. I accept your concession.
That isn't at all what I said, moron.
>The entire point is to find out yourself the weird go-abouts in multiple playthroughs naturally.
This asumes people want to replay the same game as many times as it takes to experience all the content. I know some people like spending 500 hours in Souls games, but most don't.
And they'll get their 80+ hour action/rpg experience and move on. Having things for more invested players to find and discuss rewards multiple play through, as evident by the fact the vast majority of people ITT have made more than 1 character and/or completed NG+.
Except the game was marketed as an epic story written by George R. R. Martin. And story is an integral part of any RPG. And every other Souls game has questlines which give a good amount of lore and story on a single playthrough because they're not open world, with NPCs in random locations on a huge map, rendering them easily and permanently missed.
I am invested in the game, the lore and the story. I just don't want to make 5 different characters or go NG for 300 hours using trial and error to experience the beginnings of a coherent, satisfying narrative and worldbuilding.
Then there's the fact that a player on his second playthrough, experiencing a different ending, might lose the will to replay again when he discovered a palette swap bullshit ending to the game reminiscent of Mass Effect 3. So he misses out on everything else.
>This whole post
Quite literally exposing yourself as a normie bandwagoner who absolutely did not play the previous games blind. Every single one of these games are built so that you organically find and possibly miss certain NPCs depending on when you find them. Christ, Demon's Souls literally locks certain interactions from one NPC vs another based entity on World Tendency alone. I just finished my first playthrough of Elden Ring a couple weeks ago, and there are still tons of things I don't know about my playing blind.
>What is Sulvanis before being turned catatonic?
>Wtf is the deal with Dung-Eater?
>Why does the Hermit boiling crabs exist, and how do I get him to not just tell me to piss off?
>Already mentioned Volcano Manor
Hell, figuring out Blaidd was a result of mere circumstance for me using a bow, wanting to restock arrows, so I visited a Merchant and noticed a text prompt asking about him. Pure fricking accident simply because I was,
>Using a bow
>Happen to be low on arrows and didn't want to kill random ass birds to craft them
I don't think some of the poor design decisions that some people call "hardcore" were actually completely intentional by fromsoft. I think they make the game and then any difficulty caused by broken sequencing or obscure poor design is handwaved away as "challenge"
There's basic design problems with DS1 that if fixed would ACTUALLY make the game playable blind, but as it is it actually isn't playable blind unless you use online messages.
I can't help but wonder if online messages were another crutch invented by fromsoft as a handicap for their bad design
The online messages are an essential part of the dark souls experience. Playing any of these games offline on a blind run is a big mistake, and I mean that very sincerely. The multiplayer aspects of these games are one of their greatest innovations.
One of my friends has DaS on Switch but doesn't have online and I honestly think he will never enjoy the game playing it that way.
Except I played the entirety of Demon's Souls on release, when there were no real guides out, and the Dark Souls trilogy without using guides or wikis.
I brought up the GRRM stuff because they marketed their game as having some epic story worth experiencing. If they design the game so you can't even experience it in a playthrough, then they fricked up.
So cope and seethe and keep defending shitty design decisions with your handwaving excuses and projections.
>Except I played the entirety of Demon's Souls on release, when there were no real guides out
It's astounding how blatantly people lie about shit they "achieved" on here. Demon's Souls literally came and released day 1 with a full strategy guide packaged with it, because an entire wiki existed for the game already prior to the game's English release for people who ported the Chinese version of the game and had to deal with moon runes. I'm so sick of morons that have no idea wtf they are talking about coming here with the arrogance of authority, and just making false claims.
Anon, because you're a guide reader/walkthrough watcher doesn't mean everyone else is. Chill out.
>Blatantly being a disingenuous homosexual
The entire argument is that these games at their core have been a community driven series where discourse, be it in game or otherwise, was always an intended feature to them. You aren't supposed to figure everything else by yourself in a single run. Hell, more than 60% of the information we have on Elden Ring alone is a result in community feedback that people just take for granted.
The point was never that he games ae unplayable without a walk through or guide, it's that you simply will not know everything in a single playthrough UNLESS you've engaged with the community who each have fiued out their own seperate pieces to the overall puzzle. This plays directly into the entire design philosophy behind why certain things are vague or obscure, there is only 1 difficulty setting, and why replaying these games are always a focus.
It is 100% okay to watch/read guides. Don't worry about it.
There are simply too many permutations when it comes to triggers and possible locations that you can't stumble upon most of the shit when it comes to entire questlines. Even having a text journal that updates according to quest triggers and descriptive locations would've done a lot.
i agree
they should have iterated on the flawed ds3 quest formula
a simple book would have done wonders for other stuff as well
the markers are total shit, and i only find myself using the gem and sword for "treasure I can't reach" and "this place is hard"
i've done all quests a dozen times by now and you are right, this is often the case with specific npc quests. there is also some weird shit you have to do you wouldn't ever decide to do on a blind run, like to get nephile to spawn in the throne room to finish her quest you need to rest at the lake facing cliffs, no not sit down but actualy REST. something you wouldn't ever do because you have literally no reason to.
and that's just one of many examples.
>guard counter is not here
my run at launch... invalidated
oh sorry
feel free to add it
thanks, it made using the ultra greatsword much more fun
>ultra greatsword has the blocking power of a medium shield
Absolute SEX. Blocking a boss's move with the sword and guard countering was awesome
There are so many upsides to 2 handing U.Greatswords that I wonder what is even the point to 1-handing them outside of lvl250+ NG+7 duel wielding the frickers.
Wtf is guard countering?
>t. 250 miserable hours in ER
When you block and then immediately do a heavy attack that comes out quickly and does a lot of stun.
ngl if you spend 250 hours in a game with combat as simple as elden ring, and still don't know the basics of it, you're probably moronic.
I'd say if you spent 250 hours on Elden Ring you're moronic.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Wear it as a moron badge of honor, friend.
tbf a lot of people just don’t block in the more recent souls games
bloodborne ruined a whole generation of souls players, no blocking no sprinting, dodge and R1 only
To be fair, I'm glad BB did that. I prefer not to block and to dual wield and play around with differences. Unless I'm shitposting and trapping people in corners with dual greatshields.
You mean BlBo. BBs are the little plastic airsoft pellets.
BlBo is Bilbo Baggins, stop being a homosexual btw and interrupting shit by being a butthurt moron.
>NOOOO YOU CAN'T USE THINGS INSIDE THE GAME THAT YOU PAID FOR NOOOO THATS CHEATING YOU DIDN'T BEAT THE GAME
fromdrones are hilarious
>I beat the game and I'm not insecure about it, as you can tell by my thread
bros...
give it to me straight...
does my jellyfish wife actually scale...?
you need to upgrade your summons like your weapons at the roundtable
i did make my wife +1 with that prostitute
Don't talk about Roderika like that, gay.
She fricks the blacksmith while you're out. What are you gonna do about it? I don't cause these things, they just happen. I'm just glad I'm not there to see it.
> What are you gonna do about it?
Find a new Elden Ring waifu qt3.14 gf.
How about this one? She seems nice, such a sweet voice. I'm sure this'll turn out better, huh bros?
maybe in another 1000 hours
for now, it's me, me jellyfish, and the girl that gives you hugs
You know the hug lady is just the designated corpse fricker, right?
i'll take anything i can get
if she fricks my corpse too then what do i care
>summons
No. You let someone beat the game for you
>spirit summons
No, you only ruined the game for yourself. Spirits break the game and there's nothing to beat if it's broken
Now play the game properly
homosexual, let people play how they want to
>Used the environment
I fricking wish, making the Taurus demon fall off the bridge was my favorite part of ds1, but now every boss has a invisible wall to prevent him from falling (bugs don't count), it's even worse when you realize that you can fall to your death but bosses can't.
still works on the dark cavalry in dragonbarrow, cheesed him by making hiom fall of a cliff and abused bleed on the fatass dragon that can't fight back for easky 150k on a fresh ng
Only a couple of hours ago, the Knight of the crucible committed suicide right before my eyes by throwing himself through a windowway
never felt this was a problem except with Margit
Really want to riposte him and shove his smug ass off his dumb little strip of real estate
Considering these games come apart at the seams all the time even when you’re playing as intended, with things like ripostes not working because the enemy is 3 inches higher than you on uneven terrain making the hitbox jank out, or enemies occasionally just spazzing the frick out and ignoring the player, I doubt they could even create a game where they could seriously pull this off for regular encounters.
I'm gonna murder whichever homosexual decided the Consecrated Snowfield needs permanent fog.
Is there even a way to stop the dragon warriors being summoned? I remember last year I googled it and nobody knew, so I just gave up on it after an hour
the wiki
Most of the NPC questlines are fricking bullshit and you know it.
the only one I can think of is nephelix
hyetta moves all over the fricking map and if you miss her once you will miss the quest, not to mention the secret path to get to the frenzy gate to finish her quest
alexander used to be buggy that if you missed getting him unstuck his quest bugs out and he won't leave the radahn arena
ranni needs you to sit and talk to her doll on a very specific grace that if you just activate it and not actively sit on it are going to miss
goldmask needs you to use some random ass spell that dispels special effects infront of radagons statue to complete his quest
and selvus for some fricking reason needs you to buy all his spells and puppets to proceed with his quest
for nephile to spawn in the throne room to finish her quest you need to rest at the lake facing cliffs, no not sit down but actualy REST. something you wouldn't ever do because you have literally no reason to ever go there again to this grace let alone rest here after beating morgott.
i've done all the quests a dozen times and have plat on both PS5 and ps4 version and i am still laughing at some of the dumb random shit ER quest want you to do to progress with their quests
Shills at launch were defending the quests that were bugged and randomly ended. These people will not under and circumstances admit that the game is terribly designed
>for nephile to spawn in the throne room to finish her quest you need to rest at the lake facing cliffs
This still never worked for me, it only worked after I ended up beating Morgott.
yeah you need to defeat baleful shadow and morgott before this step
Which is incredibly stupid considering you can complete this quest ridiculously early.
I wanna add that you also need to level up the summon for one quest to progress. I think it was Nepheli.
Hyetta is a nightmare, especially for one of her grapes, because she actually goes backwards to near the start of Liurna.
no she doesn't
>hyetta
if you rushed through the game maube you missed her
>alexander
No idea how people miss him when he literally screams for help
>ranni
easiest quest in the entire game, if you missed it it'a because you don't read and are very clearly not paying attention
>goldmask's spell
the game literally tells you which spell you need to use
>selvus
I knew that because that's how every souls game works but I guess it's not fair for new players
>nepheli
this is just not true, you need to beat morgott
>if you rushed through the game maube you missed her
no, you can easely miss her even without rushing
>No idea how people miss him when he literally screams for help
by literally missing him, like by not being close to his area
>easiest quest in the entire game, if you missed it it'a because you don't read and are very clearly not paying attention
you clearly ignored what i wrote
>this is just not true, you need to beat morgott
yeah no shit i already pointed that out
>no, you can easely miss her even without rushing
how? she is at first next to the first grace of luirna, then she is next to some ruins that players always go to because there is shit in them, then her final spot is next to a bridge and a road, wjy would anyone not go there?
>alexander
so people really just see a main road nas bridge im their game and think "no I won't go there"?
>ranni
I did, I am saying you must have not read the "talk to ranni" option on the screen
>how? she is at first next to the first grace of luirna, then she is next to some ruins that players always go to because there is shit in them, then her final spot is next to a bridge and a road, wjy would anyone not go there?
people go there but she is often not even near objects of interrest put like 20 feet away
>so people really just see a main road nas bridge im their game and think "no I won't go there"?
it's a big open world and if you did another of his steps before this one he won't even spawn here
>I did, I am saying you must have not read the "talk to ranni" option on the screen
again that implies you sat on this grace, not everyone sits down on literally every grace they just activated
but like 20 feet away*
>she is often not even near objects of interrest put like 20 feet away
not true
>it's a big open world
if you go to gael tunnel he will be there even if you don't rescue him at first
>again that implies you sat on this grace, not everyone sits down on literally every grace they just activated
true, that's fair
>not true
it is, her second location is inside a very small destroyed building about 20 feet from the next grace. and even if you managed to not miss any of her l,ocations you'd still end up having to figure out the entrance to the fenzied flame
>if you go to gael tunnel he will be there even if you don't rescue him at first
yes and that used to bug the quest because you didn't do the first step
I didn't see the talk to Ranni option because I activated that site of grace and then did not rest at it. I saw no reason to rest at the time so I missed it.
yeah, thats shitty and unfair
why would you not go in the destroyed building?
there are 3 and this one was the only one with "semengly" nothing inside. she is even positioned in a way that if you come from the entrance like in the posted pic you'd likely not notice her.
>semengly" nothing inside
there is your mistake for assuming that when it's never the case
>No idea how people miss him when he literally screams for help
Like the anon said there was a bug where he didn't spawn. Not at the start either, it was after Radahn Festival
Doing Ranni's quest locks you out of Selvus' at a certain point, so if you didn't do Selvus' at that point (which in most cases requires you to either frick Nepheli's, give it to Gideon (which a lot of people might not know), or get all the way to Dung Eater (which locks you out of a bunch of other quests at the same time if you're trying to get Ranni's done early), then you frick yourself out of his quests.
Yes, all quests should be done as you progress, but sometimes, doing them fricks over others unintentionally just because of progress or them being loosely tied to each other.
Rogier's is an especially easy one to frick up if you never found the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, or if you found it first and decided to come back later for it.
>Doing Ranni's quest locks you out of Selvus' at a certain point
and? he is trying to turn her into a rapedoll, they are clearly two sides you need to stick with, if you pick one the other won't be aviable
you can do both at the same time btw
That isn't the point anon, the point is that his quest should remain open until you at least get to Dung Eater if you don't know about the Gideon option to give the potion to. Ranni's quest can be done well before you reach Dung Eater. You literally just have to stop doing her quest if you want to do his quest basically, and then pick it back up later.
Which I understand, it's for an ending, but its a tad silly. A lot of the NPC quests are fine as they are, but some are a tad busty in terms of their cut off points and flow in terms of the game.
>goldmask needs you to use some random ass spell that dispels special effects infront of radagons statue to complete his quest
This is the only one where I disagree. If you're a loregay, you knew to use the spell here from reading item descriptions and talking to the
Catholic tortoise.
You found it online, didn’t ya?
>and selvus for some fricking reason needs you to buy all his spells and puppets to proceed with his quest
This annoyed me the other day, I already had the summons, but they were +3 so now I have them twice, just to get Dung Eater in this run.
None of these quests worked on launch anyways and homosexual wiener suckers defended it.
We still have a quest item from Patches for Tanith that has zero function in game right now.
From Software gave up, I'm guessing.
They still haven't patched in Patches' quest? Holy frick, are the waiting until the DLC to finish this fricking game?
This is the only one that's blatantly unfinished right now, correct?
Also, I'm working on Zoraya's quest right now and am at the point where I need to kill Rykard to proceed, which means I need to finish Leyndell to get to the Mountaintops. I can't remember, finishing Leyndell/Morgott doesn't lock you out of anything, correct? It's just beating Fire Giant?
lighting the flame locks everything out. so you can beat the giant and still go off and do stuff
Gotcha, but Leyndell itself doesn't, correct?
Unfortunately I'll still need to do yet another run for the Nepheli ashes. I'm almost considering cheating them in; from what I understand it's generally not going to be bannable to cheat in valid items.
the only point of no return is lighting the erdtree, and even then, you can do several questlines while it burns, such as ranni's. also, you don't have to do the assassinations to reach rykard, you can just go through lava area at the back of the manor.
The ENTIRE point is to build discourse among the community, Anon. Someone had to figure this shit out and spread the information. Player to player messages are not only an intended feature in-game, but also out of game as well. Why this is so hard for people to understand is hilarious.
not true morono
I did all that shit on my game without looking outside of it
Then they should've made the game more replayable. No way am I running around doing the exact same content with zero variation just to hear a couple lines of middling dialogue in such a frick huge world.
first time playing fromsoft game?
no, however the non open world more interconected world of earlier games made missing quests less likely as ER
from did dark souls style quests but they don't work on open world games
you are 100% correct
All could be avoided if the map updated the NPC's locations.
Hyetta actually makes a very normal path through one region. Stuff like Rogier and Nepheli are the real bullshit
>Millicent hiding out on some path on the Altus Plateau, easily missable
>Exploring the Haligtree ends Millicent's questline
>Miss Blaidd on top of the tower near the demihumans
>Miss Blaidd in the underworld area
>Don't sit there spamming 'Talk' with Ranni - miss out on her stuff
>Good luck finding the maiden who eats grapes, without help, if you explored Limgrave and missed one of her spawns
>Boc
Just from what I remember
sorry you are blind
This.
>Doing a questline
>Happen to want to explore and proceed to be doing other things
>Turns it out I progressed too far just exploring naturally (in an open world game) and happened to miss the item needed to trigger them showing up
>Quest is locked permanently and now so is one of the endings
>Also conveniently removed another NPC that was tied to their bullshit questline
From really needs to fix how their NPC quests work, not all of them are bad, but some are fricking stupid. I still remember Lucatiels in DaS2, keeping her alive was silly sometimes.
>used the co-op mod
>literally tampering the game for stuff that is already available
?
B-but, I haven't finished the gaem yet
you didn't beat the game
yet
>didn't eat dung
You didn't beat the game.
I started playing again and changed my build to have high Int and Str with two greatswords. I'm using the black fire one and dark moon sword, but not sure if I should change the weapons to make them more fun.
What if I skipped snowfields, haligtree, and mohg?
You missed out on some amazing parts and a lot more shitty parts
haligtree is the best level
You didn't miss out on anything important.
What if I didn't finish the game? Did I beat the game?
no.
t. OP
this is why everyone hates soulsgays, all elitist gatekeepers trying to put themselves on a pedestal above everyone else
>elitist gatekeepers
What's wrong with this?
>taking any of this serious.
You don't deserve to be in a community if you can't identify if people are just having banter.
>smartest Ganker user
HAHAHAHA BROOO YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELF, JUST SAY YOU'RE JOKING
It's evolved into ironic ironic gatekeeping. These threads can't even get bumped without some moronic shill spending their whole day here necro bumping the thread with "you didn't beat the game".
It's gotten so bad you can post pretty much anything in these threads and not get banned
>recognize that one frickwit from the jcs video
fourth row just off the middle, with the thousand yard moron stare, that's the "I see demons" kid, right?
I suppose you could roleplay as a tarnished who; after being spiritually drained by the demands of marika, decides to simply wander the earth fighting or not fighting.
it's the same thing as going hollow.
did you beat the game? no.
did you complete it?
yes.
Gatekeeping is literally mandatory. If you don't like gatekeeping, you are precisely the sort of person being intentionally gated out.
She is so fricking beautiful. Why didn't Miyazaki give her actual character with some role?
have you seen miyazaki irl?
he a crosseyed hunchback. I'm just going to assume he got friendzoned so many times he decided to put his anger into a character (melina... and fia... and ranni... and yeah.)
elden ring gays are insecure about their game because it's an easy hard game that normalgays know about and like, so they bathe in the joy that the millions who like that game think it's difficult while the fanboys can beat it with some meme restrictions and feel better about themselves
give a soulsgay ninja gaiden on master ninja difficulty and see how good they are at video games, frick not even that give them nioh 2 and see how millions can't comprehend fricking stance switching, the most basic shit
but no frick even that, give them monster hunter for all i care and see them die to a monster a million times before they'll "learn" the patterns so that they can get a pathetic 10-15min hunt
BUT NO NO NO frick even that, give them elden ring with their self imposed challenges that they never do and watch as their self worth falls to the level of a 2 dollar crack prostitute
i wash just going through the games i have installed on my screen right now
mucho texto
I'm really good at monster hunter and I still fail miserably, constantly, at souls games. I think there's a correaltion there. souls combat just has a whole lot of inherent randomness.
Are we playing the same souls games? Maybe I'm more suited for them, I'm a moron who still has problems fighting Behemoth
yeah i think maybe my problem is mh muscle memory
That's because fromslop isn't hard. It's just artificial difficulty. Like large health pools or overly aggressive enemies.
git gud
Thank you. I needed validation from internet strangers. I BEAT THE GAME!
>i don't use summons because I want authentic souls experience
While playing ranged and min-max meta.
I mean the main reason is, the summon sort of break boss' ai and pull off the agro from you giving A LOT more time to breathe in.
But let me tell you that, I didn't use summons or spirits for the late game bosses nor did I have a minmax build, and it was MISERABLE. Seriously, I don't recommend it to anyone. Screw the validation of strangers on the internet, just do you and have fun.
"If you used summons, spirits, magic or cheese you didn't beat the game" -Ranni
Ranni is literally a witch/magic user. she would not say this.
Does she teach you any magic? No? Because she doesn't want you to use it.
but her close follower does teach you magic, which she isn't against.
Oh the one that is working behind her back to betray her?
yes, that one, who she doesnt stop from teaching you magic
There are spells bearing her name. She gives you the best weapon that scales with INT that shoots concentrated blasts of magic. Stop being an idiot.
>Gives you the thing needed to call spirits at all
If you won a boss battle by the sheer power of rng and bosses just not doing certain difficult moves, you didn't beat the game.
i beat the boss by poisoning it and running away
Wish the threshold for status effects didn't keep scaling up so I could actually do that
I wish status effects didn't last 10 damn minutes.
>using mimic bad
>using cheat engine good
You morons make no sense to me.
It's almost like there is more than just you and I here anon.
I did most of this and I didn't beat the game
your point?
I'm not even at Malenia
I beat the game.
You know the real problem with Elden Ring NPCs, they all die like Dark Souls NPCs in large. Like come on, they aren't turning Hollow and losing their goals in life, this is a completely different universe for frick's sake, but most of them die just due to random ass bullshit.
the world being a lifeless shithole with no towns is already a sign that it's just ds4
from can't make a real hub of life, only firelink shrine
It really is, considering everyone that actually is in a town is already either dead (Albinaurics) or just dancing like wild women in a windmill village eating people.
Would be nice to just find a single village in a game where there are just kinda chill people, doesn't have to be a thousand merchants to make other areas useless, but come on.
sorry the uh (checks notes) shattering drove everyone to hollow (checks notes again) uh, shit idk what it's even called in this game
Miyazaki literally cannot help himself.
I want to know who managed to hold him back and not have Ranni's quest end with her sacrificing herself or that Nepheli's quest doesn't end with Stormveil getting destroyed off screen.
Was it Tanimura?
Don't worry anon, in ER2 we'll find out Nepheli became an abomination akin to Omen in an item description 3/4 of the way through the game, and Ranni ended up suffocating on the moon.
>doesn't even have lungs
>still suffocated
>is basically dead anyway
my moronic autistic wife...
Miyazaki always finds a way.
True. Elden Ring even has actual good endings, so it's weird that almost everyone dies or has a tragic ending. Sometimes a nice ending for a good character is made even better by the surrounding tragedy.
>gain that implies you sat on this grace, not everyone sits down on literally every grace they just activated
He's baiting (You)s. You activate 300 sites of grace in the game. You sit at them countless times. The idea that you'll sit at a specific grace, at the right time, and notice an option, indistinguishable from the others you've now seen hundreds of times, is moronic. Once you've used grace a few times and know your way around the menu, you do it on autopilot.
There's a reason everyone who played DS2 knows what spamming the Emerald Herald's dialogue sounds like.
I am not baiting for yous and I said it was fair
frick (you)
Yaaaaaaaas, YOU ARE VALID QUEEN!
Seems like Melina knows how to solve problems
I'm already pressing the launch button Melina!
Melina, I already burned everything to the ground. Just stop being mad about it.
But my arbitrary restrictions! Noooo!
Why doesn't Godfrey respawn after we kill him, he's guided by Grace too
Npcs and bosses can't respawn because this ain't DS2. This is ringworm
fromsoft has ignored the prospect of the player murdering immortal characters and them not respawning since the very beginning
how do you know he didn't?
I assume by killing Serosh he forcefully cut himself off from the GW because he is autistic and wanted to have a real battle to the death.
You think fromsoft cares about the character somehow permanently killing immortal characters for no reason? This has been a plothole in dark souls for over a decade
immortalitty is a meme
these "gods" are fully of tthemselves and you rightfully put them in their place
okay it's still a massive plothole
is it though?
Yeah? The entire world is full of immortals and you're somehow killing them? Doesn't make a lot of sense
sounds like the "immortal" word doesn't carry any weight now
>fromsoft's lore doesn't make any sense and hasn't for nearly 15 years
yeah pretty much
There are entire spoken concersation lines that clearly state there was a Death Rune taken that makes the immortals killable. This isn't even a vague line of text hidden in an item description only, it's literally verbalized to you.
people don't die of old age but they can still die die
Black person shut the frick up, we're obviously talking about tarnished killing other tarnished and them somehow dying, which has been a theme for 15 years with zero possible explanation other than plot hole
the only example i can think of is freida
I guess you've never played a single fromsoft game in your life
news to me
>entire world is full of immortals
>umm acktually I was talking about tarnished ONLY
technically shitheads can make the argument that elden ring isn't technically the same when it's literally copy pasted dark souls lore
the same plotholes are there
Serosh was just his anime limiter though, since he liked fighting so much.
People die when they are killed anon, we just don't die.
Tarnished are literal psuedo undead beings, and I get the impression are fricking pathetic. I don't think Godfrey is a tarnished, but I didn't follow the lore much at all.
regular undead are pathetic
don't pay any attention to the renames
you are an undead fighting gods
he is
the game tells you in the intro
Godfrey is literal the Tarnished King. Tarnished are the people who got kicked out of the Lands Between, i.e Godfrey and his barbarians. Every Tarnished you meet is descended from him and his barbarian tribes
Because I murdered/married/fricked his wife right afterwards
You literally just got the rune of death.
>use summons
>fire the blue lazor with an infinite mana potion
>content evaporates
Yeah I beat your walking simulator
It was pretty relaxing
>be soulgay
>played all games several times
>being bored to death after 20 hours of elden ring
>read that they are going to nerf hoarfrost stomp and mimic bro
>steam forces you to update the game
>not today motherfricker
>set steam to offline mode until i beat the game
>game beaten
>uninstall
Hoarfrost is still pretty broken as his the mimic if you have specific builds.
This game should have ended after Morgott fight. Everything past the capitol is such infuriating cancer.
I Ieveled up to 250 using a fall off the world glitch, used mimic tear and Blasphemous Blade and it still took me like 20 times to kill the Elden Beast. Did I beat the game?
yes. that fight was bullshit.
A rare time when OP wasn't a homosexual and/or a troony.
You did beat the game, but I'm the better gamer for having beat it my way.
i had to look up how to get down to the limgrave beach because my laptop didnt render the spirit jump thingy from that high a distance so i didnt know you could drop down there
there's a path down on the left literally the moment you open the doors and see limgrave for the first time
what's the biggest number of souls you ever lost in ER anons? 240k here
Like 60k or so I believe. One of the grafted in Shaded Castle ended up getting me, because he decided to go apeshit and I got stuck in a corner not paying attention to where I was rolling.
100k but I got wienery
like 5 million souls
>be me
>spam invasions
>die
>keep spamming invasions in autopilot mode because im seething
>forget about picking up my shitstain or whatever
i guess its fine since im already at 150rl...
1.5m testing ashes of war against a though foe and forgetting to pick them up one time, I stopped playing for a month
Just over a million.
Wasn't too bad though because I thought to not level anymore when I reached level 110, so I had been hoarding excess runes for a while, then I decided to see how much I could go at once before losing it.
>not just using the cheat engine to get them back in offline mode
dumbasses
a million and a half at castle sol. I was on autopilot and forgot to pick them up. it was after I stopped leveling up so I had no use for them. still got angry at myself for forgetting basic stuff.
In ER? 1mil.
In Blooborne? I can't even remember the number. I hit a point where everything was bought, everything was upgraded, my build was done, and I was unable to pick up vials, bullets, or literally any item because I had max stores of pretty much everything but chunks, boulders, and other finite shit.
Bloodletting Beast can go frick itself.
True except
>>used the co-op mod
You didn't beat the game
pvp is shit
source: me who spend 80 hours PvPing in elden ring
I don't care, everything else involves resources available in the game itself.
But the moment you mod the game, you did not beat the game, you beat the game (modded) which is a different version.
normal summoning sucks because from servers will disconnect you every 2 seconds
no you didn't beat the game, you beat it with your friends.
tryhards don't have friends
if you used homosexual strategies and did anything other than honorable combat
YOU DID NOT BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION BEAT THE GAME
Dude summoning gets you less runes, the game is LITERALLY telling you that you cheated
only pro gamers play with less runes obviously
>Dude summoning gets you less runes, the game
This explains a lot, and exposes a ton of people on here as absolute shitters. 1st character got to lvl180 without doing any grinding before beating the game blind, and used no Summons, and people were questioning how the frick that was possible.
2nd character hasn't even activated the first lift and is already lvl110, and that's with me only doing a few side content and focusing mainly on legacy dungeons.
Literally how? I ended up at Malenia with no summons at Lv. 120, beat the game at Lv. 124. Did as much as I possibly could too, only lost souls twice, and only one of those was an actual level worth of souls.
>Kill bosses
>Use Inventory runes to top off a level up before possibly dying
>Don't buy useless shit I'm never going to use for the sake of bloating my storage box, like armor sets I don't want for the character
>Kill world bosses
Granted, 2nd character has the Gold Scarab talismen equipped, but my first character was legit just playing blind, never summon, and just be fiscally responsible with runes.
Godfrey obviously dies because you burned the Erdtree. The real plot hole is why do you respawn now.
Nah fromsoft has always had enormous plotholes with immortal characters not resurrecting for 15 years
the thing you have to realize is if they can't even get the basic laws of the world down then they certainly don't give a frick about the lore or story making sense. Which is why they keep everything vague because they don't have the ability to write a cohesive narrative
frankly I wouldn't mind a "casual" mode where you can freely reset attribute points and a more friendly quest system. but considering almost every other game release is shit, it's ok to replay elden ring a hundred times to try out different builds and find out the hidden secrets.
Excellent points. I play games to have fun, not to seethe and suffer, like most Gankerirgin homosexuals seem to do...
low t gay homosexual
Go suffer to your superhard indy game you masochistic human fart
I love to suffer
If you sacrificed your maiden you haven't beat the game, the canon path as meant by miyazaki is frenzied flame, burn yourself, kill flacidusacks, repent (if you only use the needle in the arena without killing him, you haven't beaten the game), chose ranni's ending.
I've played all souls games (except ER) and I haven't ever summoned.
Yes, I'm that much of an outcast.
I have summoned strangers on accident, otherwise mostly played with a friend. I've been summoned countless times as an aid though.
I've only ever summoned once in DaS2 for Pursuer. I couldn't get used to the way the poise worked when the game first came out, or the hitboxes. Ended up stomping the game just fine after that, I remember all the Death Counter threads on Ganker, some where up in the 200-300s back then. Mine was in the 50-60s I believe.
Summoning is kind of pointless to be honest unless you just wanna dick around or its your second time playing or something.
just like in real life, I will beat the game by any means necessary, lying, cheating, betraying, stealing, violence you name it
Is there a place where I can actually check easily each npcs storylines and their interconnections?
>spent 120 hours my first playthrough
>ended the game at SL98
>people tell me I should have leveled up more
>didn't want to overlevel and trivialize content
>mfw people told me they were SL150-200 when they cleared Commander Niall/Malenia
>realizing that the "fans" are all normalgays
These posts feel like an ego masturbation more than anything
Back when DS3 launched if you went over level 120 everybody would laugh at you for being a shitter, elden shit is a flanderized casual baby game
That's understandable, DS3 is easily the most casual game of from
>DS3 is easily the most casual game of from
it was but got dethroned last February by ER
Maybe, it does feel like those two games attracted too many casuals.
Sounds like cope normalgay shitter
Why would it be? I was the same way, I don't like to over-level and trivialize content so I was very cautious with my leveling. Ended the game at SL112. It is my experience, that over-leveling can result in trivialized fights on a first playthrough.
Leveling up past 100 stops being as impactful because your natural Physical Defense stops increase as fast, and at that point you are just squeezing an extra 50 damage out of your weapon or adding an extra 200hp that is still going to be deleted in 2 hits regardless.
you are not overleveling anything at late game for two reasons
1. you reached all important caps at least twice by now, very small returns in investment for your main stats
2. late game kills you in 2/3 hits at 60 vig at lvl100 or lvl 140
t. beat the game 6 times by now and cleared all content bosses/quests/dungeons completionist runs in 3 ng cycles of them including ng+++ with very varying level difference in each save file
literally this
I was like 150 by the end of the game by just playing normally
"playing normally" is overleveling apparently
but normalgay shitters wouldn't understand the concept of overleveling in a flanderized baby game
did you randomly decided to stop leveling at one point? there is no indication of the level you should be when fighting a certain boss
if you want to be le hardcore gamer that bad, go play real hard games like noita or osu
Well newbie if you actually pay attention level 120 is the level needed for a full build, for instance a build with 66 strength, 50 vigor and 40 endurance. But you wouldn't know that because you advocate ignorance and flanderized casual baby games
its higher for elden ring as all soft and hard caps are at higher levels in ER
It's not, that's a blatant lie. It's practically copy pasted DS3 values
>It's Practically copy pasted DS3 values
>you see the hard caps are different because weapons go to +25 now
right, the only thing that actually changed from ds3 is you get maybe a 20% damage boost from 5 more upgrade levels and vigor is now at 50 softcap
Copy
pasted
And that attack and spell damage scales diferently, so depending on your build you might need different numbers.
And the fact that some statsa have mroe caps than others and past games.
And that stats govern different things with different porpuses.
And Vigor and Endurance having difference caps despite weapons .
Literally all stats have a diferent caps and diferent amount of caps.
Based on the same system? ofc, but you won't get the right ones.
You claimed that 66 STR, 50 vigor and 40 Endurance was an endgame build, yet none of those stats is capped and depending on your weapon you're either falling short on STR or wasting 6 or more levels on it.
>66 isn't cap
0/10
have a nice day newbie
80 STR is the new cap, goofball.
80 one handing
54 two handing
Stop samegayging
One reply is enough newbie
learn your caps shitter also it's 40/60 vigor
>newbie spammer "realfan"
great
40/60 Vig
40/No Hard cap End
54/80 Str 1h/2h
50/80 Dex, fth, int, arc soft/hard
ER is not Souls.
Read the values when you level.
btw i cleared the game at SL200.
cope
Can you actually coherently tell me why you'd need 50 mind AND 66 strength besides being a shitter that doesn't understand how the game works?
More FP so I can spam my Ash of War more.
Easy.
There is literally one instance of the hardcap being 66 which is 2 handing weapons in DS3.
So either you oted yourself as a enwgay to the franchise that started and osbessed with DS3 or you're jsut too moronic to admit defeat and are in the "doubling down" phase Low IQ people do when losing an argument.
>newbie doesn't understand that two handing gives strength bonus and it has been the same since demon's souls
>samegay spams incorrect information
new "souls fans" are a joke
yes wich is 54 strength not 66
>yeah I lied
good job admitting you're a liar
>muh liar
i am
moron
>newbie doesn't understand that two handing gives strength bonus
It's literally in the pic the anon you quoted posted.
Hell, even taking that into account DS3 is still the only one with a hardcap of 66. DS1 and 2 have different caps when 2 handing.
doesn't understand that two handing gives strength bonus and it has been the same since demon's souls
Factually in correct.
DeS, DaS, DaS3, ER =1.5x Modifier
DaS2 = 2x Modifer
I'll accept a (You) as a form of concession payment, thank you.
>actually I was only talking about DS2
kek
the cap wouldn't be 66 anyway
Where are you even going with those goalposts, I don't even see them samegay spammer
the only game in the series that's different is DS2 and everybody considers it an abomination
>moron doesn't know STR can go up to 150 as an invisible value when 2handing, and that the extra damage is multiplied when combined with Talismens that increase on a % basis
>samegay newbie spammer responds to the same post with 15 different arguments
>has totally lost the narrative
There is more than one person ITT calling you out for being a moron.
No there isn't newbie samegay spammer
Mount Stupid plants his feet firm.
>They're changed but not really r-r-moron!
Shut up. None of these games are hard all of them have had over a million players and you are not special for doing a slightly harder run.
Right I mean who the frick raises their FP to hard cap besides havel monster morons?
Can you actually coherently tell me why you'd need 50 mind AND 66 strength besides being a shitter that doesn't understand how the game works?
me
need lots of fp to heal and buff my mimic tear while it solos every boss in the game
i have 50 mind because i am deep into many ng+ cycles as a mage and already reached all the other important caps
ok moron
>level 120 is the level needed for a full build, for instance a build with 66 strength, 50 vigor and 40 endurance
that sounds so... specific... like you were reading a guide...
No? 66 strength is the hardcap in souls games for strength, always has been. Just because you don't look at your stat menu ever doesn't mean it's okay to powerlevel to level 300 and brag about it here
>He doesn't know
Imagine being caught reading guides, but also caught being too stupid to actually understand them. If you stop STR at 66, you absolutely are missing out on damage.
>is outed for being a newbie shitter
>accuses everybody he meets that has basic knowledge of souls games of reading guides
this is the new "souls fan"
I have a trophy on PS3 that proves I started this entire franchise day 1 on Demon's Souls. Don't fricking try and deflect because people called you out for being a moron for just assuming the games were going to magically follow the same meta.
>"Builds" end at lvl120, because I'm going on previous metas set from other Souls games
>But I'm also a franchise bandwagoner who doesn't actually understand why 120 was chosen by the community in the past, and just assumed the same shit applies here
A better example of Mount Stupid does not exist ITT.
>did you randomly decided to stop leveling at one point?
Yes because when ER came out, I wasn't a wiki-fiend. I went off my prior experience, 40 VIG/20End/66 STR and played the game. Going by my past experience from DeS, DaS, DaS2, DaS3, over-leveling can cause an issue so I just stopped when I felt was okay.
I died a lot to Niall and Malenia, but I'd rather struggle a bit and learn a fight than steamroll.
I don't know why you need to shove in false equivalences of "hardcore" gaming when no one actually thinks Souls are hard by design. Makes me think you're just acting in bad faith, stirring up shit just to stir up shit.
>I went off my prior experience, 40 VIG/20End/66 STR and played the game.
You didn't bother to see your stats? Are you moronic?
>Going by my past experience from DeS, DaS, DaS2, DaS3, over-leveling can cause an issue
Which is?
>I died a lot to Niall and Malenia, but I'd rather struggle a bit and learn a fight than steamroll.
Why the "but"? I would agree with you if you just said "I like action games and learning the pattern of bosses" but it sounds like you don't like to struggle
>"I like action games and learning the pattern of bosses
Fundamentally no difference from what I said and this. You're being pendantic.
>You didn't bother to see your stats? Are you moronic?
What are you trying to infer here? Strength increases strength, Vigor health, and Endurance stamina. There isn't much else to look into.
>Which is?
My experience? What are you trying to off on man? I understand you're arguing for the sake arguing but I legitimately do not understand your issue here. I don't know how clear I can say that I prefer not to over level and trivialize content, as that is my preference. I do not understand why this is so difficult for you.
pretty hard to argue with you when you don't even know how to read tbhonest
It's very clear from the beginning you've been antagonistic and accusatory with some preconceived notion that because someone wants to avoid outpacing content by over-leveling they believe that the souls games are 'hardcore"
My roommate wouldn't stop bragging how he farmed the bird, got to SL300, killed Morgott and said the game was a joke and couldn't believe people said Fromsoft games were hard.
I opted to not engage and said "ha nice" and then proceeded to not take part in Souls discussion with him.
Jesus if I knew my simple little post would cause autists to sperg out, I would never have posted.
>post moronic shit
>suffer the consequences of posting moronic shit
>"wtf why is everyone sperging"
>newbie spammer is mad that being level 300 is not something to brag about
hate to see it
Meds.
I was in the same boat. I remember farming the infinite respawning dogs in Bloodborne and got to BL150 before Shadows of Yharnam and felt like I cheapened the game so I restarted. Ever since I refuse to over-level in these games. Ended ER at RL118 as 2kat dexgay.
that's cool and all, but at the same time i don't see anything wrong with people ending game on high level
like, it's a fricking RPG game where you can level up and make your character stronger and stronger, and there's literally nothing wrong with it
also, did you guys just rush to the end? i didn't kill all bosses and minibosses and missed lots of stuff and still beaten the game on 127 level and i feel like 150-170 would be a normal level if i did all content
did you not level up on purpose? that's moronic
did completionist runn wich means all bosses in the game on 3 ng runs and ended up at around lvl 150. so with some half decent exploring you are meant to be at around 100-130 by the end of the game.
>i don't see anything wrong with people ending game on high level
Great we agree.
>did you guys just rush to the end?
Nope, I took my jolly time with Elden Ring. Explored every nook and cranny that was available. I refuse to look anything up and wasted 16 hours of my life trying to figure out Alexander's questline only to give up and find out it was cut content (that got patched in later)
My first playthrough was 172 hours long.
>did you not level up on purpose?
Only after a certain point. Going off my experience in past game I didn't want to outpace content. I want to be 1:1 with what I'm up against rather than steamrolling with excessive levels. I imagine if I had I went out and farmed a ton of souls and upgrades before Margitt, the fight wouldn't have been as fun as it was for me. I like to learn the fight rather than two tapping a boss and moving on. It's the same mentality on why I don't use sorcery my first playthrough.
>Great we agree.
no you don't, at least read your own posts
Your gaslight attempt has been noted.
also i think the only place i felt i was overleveled was Fortissax in Deeproot Depths
I also kept myself underleveled because it forces me to engage with the game mechanics more rather than steamrolling through. I spent my runes on a bunch of spirit ashes upgrades, weapon upgrades for anything that used faith, bought all items from shops and armors etc.
>You can't romance Melina because... well... you just can't, ok?
DOGshit game for trannies.
YOU can't romance her because she is MY babe
My greatest love,
the moment you were bestowed upon me, the Erdtree itself whispered your name...
t. Elden Ring beater
>create the best Soulswaifu ever

Epic, FROM. Simply epic!
?
Nephelli just sits in the throne room anon.
yeah rya needs a lot more screentime

it's finally out
Gross.
>Man single handedly changing people's thoughts on Marika
Everything but guidebooking. It’s ok you let us conquerors beat the game for you but you are still the conquered. Get over it. It invalidates most of your next runs because you already read the wiki and didn’t play the game
>getting filtered by malenia for ~3 hours
>use mimic tear summon out of curiosity
>clear it immediately because she is flinching every 3 seconds from two two-hand colossal swords
I did not beat the game. I still regret it weeks later
she deserves this fate, you didn't miss anything
>DS3gays embarrasing themselves again
when will they learn?
Elden Ring gays getting onto people for not reading the wikipedia before their first playthrough really isn't the win you think it is.
Souls fans: Go in blind, play the game and experience it yourself
ER Fans: Watch this youtube build guide before you play, make sure you get a +19 weapon before Margitt. Oh btw farm this bird for 3 million runes/hour. That way you can be RL450 before Renala.
I can understand not using game features as a personal challenge. I don't understand considering using game features as some mark of not "truly" beating a game. If you weren't meant to use said features, why were they even included in the first place?
Elden Ring gays who got filtered by Souls community now trying to employ the same tactics that gatekept them out despite it not working for ER since ER is the easiest FromSoft game.
They're trying to pretend to be elitist in a game where you can't really be elitist. Not even RL1 is noteworthy in this game, compared to other games.
if you don't use summons ER difficulty shits on older FS titles, hell my brother who struggled with ER got the hardest BB bosses down first or second try and said game is piss easy compared to ER wich was my experience aswell just like with DeS of DS1
It's artificial difficulty because it's input reading
there's really nothing defensible about elden ring
>mad 'cuz bad
>I need to be level 300 to beat the input reading bosses
maybe the game is shit, ever considered that
>He needs to be level 300 to beat Elden Ring
Lol
Does the game reads any inputs besides healing (which you shouldn't do unprotected) and ranged spells (which you should expect enemies to dodge if done in front of them)
Obviosuly, the way ER does it is really egregious, but it's less the fact that it does soemthing most games do anyway and more that it's so blatant that it's happening
it hurts more in ER cause of all the high damage
You also get a ridiculous amount of estus.
Examples? I never noticed that and I did 2 runs mostly focused on melee weapons.
Malenia's kick for example is an input read attack that activates with multiple different triggers
Yeah the game regularly input reads attacks and inputs like jumping and rolling
>if you don't use <mechanic> in game it's harder I swear!
Stop posting. Your argument was flawed before it even started.
Maybe the game is designed around summons?
Makes sense why most bosses have huge aoe attacks.
yeah, exactly this
i've beaten ER two times, and then i replayed DS3 and during my playthrough i had the feeling that Fromsoft patched the game to make it easier or some shit, because i would barely ever die and beaten every boss on 1-4 tries at max
People comes up with artificial rivalry for no reason.
FROM devs have never aimed at making a hard game, just one that conveys the feels. Remember that the whole "prepare to die" thing was the marketing department after DS1 success.
Hell people keeps comparing ER and BotW when both Miyazaki and Aonuma had said several tiems how the other franchise is great and has served as inspiration.
some DaSgays thought that DaS was the most difficult game. turns out it wasn't, they just build a bad character/didn't upgrade their weapons and started coping with arbitrary rules (based on the mechanics that they unintentionally ignored) to feel good about themselves instead of the idiots they were.
something something domino effect prepare to die edition you'll lose your souls all of them over and over again and here we are
>my summons have more tankiness than me
frick this game
I fricking love Piercing Fang. Enemy thinks they're safe behind a shield? Surprise, motherfricker. Get staggered and critical'd. I put it on a Noble's Slender Sword to use as a sidearm and it's lovely.
is this after the nerf?

After working fine for 3 days straight with absolutely no problems now the game wont fricking start. It just loads into a black screen with the cursor, nothing I am trying is getting it to work. What the frick is going on?
restart your computer. windows/xinput has a bug where driver flips a bit and absolutely wrecks you ability to open anything more complex than firefox.
Well frick that is the first time I turned off my computer in over a year but it worked. Thanks anons. That seems like a fricking serious problem. Why hasn't it impacted any other game? This is the first game I've ever had that seemed to respond since I could move the cursor and tab out just fine but just would not play. I was completely stumped.
>Well frick that is the first time I turned off my computer in over a year but it worked
other than my home server, am I the only one who turns his desktop off every night?
no.
>home server
what do you use those for, anyway?
plex, storing all my files, accessing home network remotely (allows me to stream music/ video on car ride or at other places).
I let it go into sleep mode every night, but I rarely turned it off.
why the frick do you keep your shit running for over a year?
some people believe sleep mode is a substitute for shutting down. which is somewhat reasonable, sleep mode's power usage is negligibly higher than a turned off computer, but it sometimes fricks things up if a driver or some other low level bit gets flipped the wrong way.
Because I have like 300 tabs open in an array of firefox windows set up exactly how I want and its annoying to move them around every time I have to relaunch firefox so I just started putting my PC to sleep around 7 years ago.
>Nioh 2
Maybe it did not happen because I modified direct X to let me run it ion windows 7.
I build a new computer every 3 or so years anon. Also my electric bill is communal so frick if I care.
>Because I have like 300 tabs open in an array of firefox windows set up exactly how I want
what in the goddamn?
One window is for work and business, the next is for entertainment, the next two are for different kinds of porn depending on my mood. Specifically story/plot focused or just pictures.
It impacted other games too but you might not play them. Off the top of my head, Tales of Berseria, Nioh 2, and Elden Ring all won't start if you don't turn off your computer every so often.
>These are the morons that say $70 for a new released console game (that will be on sale or discounted to >= $30 in a years time) is too expensive, but will let their electric bill climb an extra $200/month and destroy their hardware in the process
>actually defending 70 dollaridoos priced games
You already lost me.
I didn't defend it, I said to complain about them while also needlessly throwing away money is astoundingly stupid.
>200 a month
I don't think sleep mode uses quite that much juice. they sgould still ve shutting it down at least once a month just so the boot proccesses can reset anything that's gotten fricked up, though.
>electric bill climb an extra $200/month
how much does the kWh/month cost in your hometown wtf
Restart your computer, now if you stuck on the blue screen when restarting you might have a problem.
should have upgraded to w10 goy
I am on windows 10 after staying on windows 7 until the absolute last moment where I just had to many games I wanted to play that were windows 10 only. I fricking hate windows 10. I wish I could go back.
I've never finished a souls game despite buying every one launch day
>drink physick
>cast terra magica
>cast comet
>kill every boss in 3 seconds while they're still babbling on
yeah real hard game you got there morons lol
Shills trying to claim that elden ring isn't ported DS3 to the point that they deny it has the same 1.5x strength modifier that's been in the game since demon's souls is next level damage control
I didn't beat the game cause I never finished it
Just like the devs

kek
any requests? im out of goofy ideas.
Tiny Ranni wanting the Tarnished to get closer so she's in range for her spells
https://files.catbox.moe/afjb3n.mp3
thanks for the idea it came out perfect
Fantastic. Cheers for the laugh, anon.
Code Vein managed to do it with all of the companions there, and all of those guys have different AI and stats and stuff. I see no reason why From Soft wouldn't be able to.
Hearing Melina or whomever you're traveling with comment on the environment would also be really cute.
is it just voices, or can sounds be thrown in? if the latter, have mini-ranni tell the tarnsihed to throw her at the enemy, followed by a cast of ranni's frost moon.
i think the sound effects have to be done manually, which idk where to find them. plus im pretty much out of words left to use in the free version
rip. oh well.
ok i did it anyways, here lmao. i put effort into this one
https://files.catbox.moe/asvtut.mp3
I wanted them to just bite the bullet and give us her as a companion who follows us around they don't even have to fight I just like these kinds of games so much more if there's someone to bring along on the journey.
if DS3gays vanished from the planet, what sector of society would suffer?
gender reassignment clinics
c'mon, man. DS3 wasn't that bad, it had really fun combat and was the basis for a lot of content that's currently found in elden ring. why you such a hater bro?
It's honestly crazy to see DS3.5 gays (ER shills) hate on DS3.
Like damn they're literally the same game except you can jump
you forgot your sage
?
He's a schizophrenic spammer, pay him no heed
>omg he's so hard that boss took me 8 months to beat
>boss dies in 3 hits and is sensitive to bleed
lol why are normies basically moronic?
Question. I have been playing for over 15 hours and have not been invaded once. Whats up? When can I expect someone to try and frick me up?
I got the blue ring but have never been summoned either. Is there some threshold I am not meeting?
Taunter's Tongue
you don't get invaded by default like in the other games. you can get invaded in co-op or by using an item that opens you up for invasions. iirc it's the taunter's tongue that the other anon mentioned.
That is beyond disappointing. The AI is so easy to bait and punish. Only other players ever gave me a challenge and "fair" multiplayer like with area's and shit are boring. I like it when players cheese me and bait me into hidden mini bosses and shit. I miss the original dark souls. Getting invaded by people out of no where was so much fun. Even more so when they were some obscure hard to make pvp build.
ok boomer
Too bad because you're not the target audience anymore
>people with taste aren't the target audience anymore
lol
Exactly. Fromsoft will never appealnto us anymore.
They weren't the target audience in the first place, there is a reason circle strafing was always huge in past games. It's always been easy to bait and cheese. Hell one of the biggest tips for new players in DaS is to "get the drake sword with cheese"
nobody calls it DaS
DeS, DaS, yes you do to differentiate the two, that has always been the case. Nobody fricking calls Sword/Shield for Pokemon, SS because of Soul Silver.
>pokegay goyslop slurper
Ah now I get, people who use DaS are terminally moronic.
It was a comparative example you fricking moron. Sorry you can't comprehend basic shit since its your first week here.
You outed yourself manchild, stop coping.
>that has always been the case
it has literally never been the case except on reddit
Not him, but bullshit it wasn't called DaS here. It was used constantly, yeah its used on Reddit, but it damn well was called DaS here too, especially when anybody brought up Demon Souls.
when?
after reddit came here?
How do you know what they say on reddit, huh homosexual?
because when I look for DaS on the internet it's not used on Ganker and is only mentioned on reddit. I always thought it was weird when somebody used it
So how do you feel about DS over DS, remember that boss in DS, shame they didn't repurpose it for DS, but at least DS got the same DS boss that DS had in theory, damn remember the DS, that was fun too.
See how dumb that sounds? Learn how to sperate acronyms so you aren't repeating them. There is a reason people say DaS, DeS, and DS (for Nintendo).
yeah there's a reason reddit makes up terms because they have to babysit morons that have no idea what they're talking about
DaS has been the acronym since day 1, moron.
Well do you have any idea what I just said? Please separate it, which one was I talking about at which point?
Notice you're not denying you're using terms from reddit
That's like saying, "Notice you aren't denying using a keyboard, like those damn reddit users, filthy plebians, not like me."
It's disingenuous and doesn't prove the point. Everyone uses DaS, and Ganker used it plenty in the past. Besides, you still have to separate the what you're talking about so it isn't a mess. Now once again, do you have any idea what I was actually saying above, because I actually had an intended order with what I was talking about.
>not denying he's using terms from reddit
Every word you just typed it also used on reddit, so you best just stop typing then anon. It'd save everyone a headache.
Headless Bloodletting Beast had some broken ass hitboxes at launch.
DaS is a reddit term
I do
So who wants to tell him?
It's always been DaS you moron.
Prove it
People say it because of Demon Souls anon, and that changed with DSR, so it could finally be differentiated. With 2 and 3 they had the number moniker to differentiate things. It was only ever a case with Demon Souls and Dark Souls, which again, has since changed due to the remasters.
Ganker has always spelled out Demon's Souls and said DS1, reddit says DeS and DaS.
Ganker has said Demon Souls, Dark Souls, DeS, DaS, and DS (for both), and in the past, it was more common to abbreviate them as DaS and DeS (until Reddit started using them, which as always, Ganker stopped using them and went with DS).
I don't think so, I don't think Ganker ever said it. Can you show proof? Because when I google it the only website using DaS from 2009-2014 was reddit
newest poster ITT lmao
prove it
get the taunter's tongue and use it and you'll be invaded like in previous games.
I would just Taunter's Tongue at the start of every area. Might not be as much of a surprise, but it's something.
>If I played the game I beat the game
w-woah.....
I really wish Melina was a proper travel companion who'd follow you around, rest with you, level you, ride on Torrent behind you, etc etc. No ash mechanics, just a proper follower of sorts.
Oh and with how the game is set up, perfect Souls game to make femboys.
They probably couldn’t even figure out how to have a long term companion programmed into the game lmao.
I want more games, specially ARPGs, to do the Dragon's Dogma thing of giving you a second character to customize and build as desired as a companion that comments on stuff happening, but it's not quips, jsut comments to make up for your mute character.
That and if you're gonna put a character next to the "bonfire" I'll be interacting with for the entire game, better give him/her some fricking depth and stuff to do.
The only boss I consistently summoned for is Captain Niall. Dude's ads are insane.
Niall's banished knights are candy compared to the actual boss, who is cancer.
>Kill minion in a couple hits
>Fight boss
lol?
No, no, no, and no.
You didn't beat the game if you've overused summons and ashes, if you overleveled. We're simply not the same. There should be a mark of disgrace whenever someone does that shit but of course that would cause immense butthurt because most people suck at gaming.
It's interesting that Finger Maiden Therolina is one of the Radahn Festival participants, given she's a puppet controlled by Seluvis (Pidia). This means that Seluvis actually did pull his weight in helping Ranni and wasn't just a backstabbing traitor that Ranni would be better off without.
yeah he "helped". therolina is useless in battle.
She's a healer, not a combatant. Also it's interesting that a puppet is specifically found in Nokstella, and not spirit ash. This means turning people into puppets is an art of the Eternal City, which explains why Seluvis knows so much about Nokron when you need a hint as to how to get there.
Speaking of Nokron/Nokstella
>Spend their entire time looking for it
>Can clearly see it but don't know how to get up there
Just climb you fricks
Well it could be implied that its before she becomes a Puppet as well.
no in coop she appears normal and not like a white phantom like the other participants. this implies that she's a puppet.
>elden lord is a normal human with the ability to clone himself
>your greatest ally was yourself all along
You can't tell me it's not kino. That being said, sticking by your favorite early game summon for the whole game is objectively the best way to play. It was so fresh learning cracked out souls bosses with the added element of a loveable jellyfish impacting the formula
dude you didn't stick to an early game summon, you stuck to the very first summon.
>Patches trolled everyone forever by giving them the castanets and then fricking off back to his cave
You've been kicked into a pit of expectations.
>noooo we can't call it ER because that stands for Elliot Rodger we have to call ElRi
The frick is wrong with redditors
Do you like DS or DS more anon? I prefer DS myself, because it's better than DS. Also what you just posted is a fricking moronic analogy.

Americans live and breath advertising and symbolism. Pavlovian conditioning is all that they are.
They see the colors red and yellow and immediately they salivate at the thought of McDonald's
I think of Lego or the Chiefs with those colors. Honestly its easier to think of logos and shit with those two colors than anything else. It'd be different if you said Green/Purple or say White/Blue for instance.
>thread derailed by a bunch of newbies arguing over an acronym
Nobody cares homosexuals.
>shill shitposter is using terms from reddit
it's very relevant
>getting mad about what other people say
ok liberal
>redditor spammer samegay uses reddit terms
>spergs out when this is pointed out
hmm
Why do zoomers only care about "beating" the game, instead of PLAYING the fricking game?
comfy thread, as usual, has been derailed. quickly, post builds. i have three
>first playthrough, just wanted to play with the new toys. dex / int ranni simp, no coop but spirit summons. blind so the least interesting
>pure str caestus slapboxer build, no spells no summons with craftign and various ashes of war, built w the intent of fist fighting hourah loux
>int/fai death sorcerer with a focus on status buildup. poison/ rot / frost knives, dual trina swords for sleep, and the sword of night and flame cuz i have the stats so why not. stormhawk summon cuz being a falconer is cool. goal is to be as much of a shit as i possibly can + give poopoo man his ending
I'm doing a build based on my waifu. Big focus on the Commander's Standard and other support stuff. The issue is that early game summons are so weak, so I have to help out more than I want. I think I just got the Godslayer Greatsword just to kill enemies faster.
So the goal is to summon spirits and support them to do The fighting for you? Sounds cool. Who are your go-to’s? / who do you want eventually?
I'm aiming for the Mausoleum Soldiers since they're probably the best "group of knight" soldiers (plus there's five of them).
At the moment, I'm mainly using Engvall and Ogha. I try to switch between them all frequently, but I've run out of the spirit upgrade materials and need to find the bell bearings for them.
first playthrough went with a dual wielding INT scaling greatswords
second playthrough I'm trying to do a tanky faith build that casts only slow and powerful incantations. the problem is I can't decide which type of incantations I could main
is the damage output of dragon incantations good?
dragon magic has always been high damage, but the cast time is brutal. luckily a recent patch buffed the poise on cast like crazy so they're much more viable to use in boss fights now.
>DaS is a Ganker te- ACK
https://arch.b4k.co/v/search/text/das%20des/order/asc/
redditsisters... we are getting exposed...
The sarcasm in this is astounding.
I did Bloodhound Claws/Bleed my first time. Second I did a Frost Build (was using Swordspears until I got Dark Moon).
Haven't done a third build yet, but thinking about doing Astel's Sword/Bastard Stars.
wing of astel is my weaponfu. highly recommend, its fantastic. range is deceptively good because of the magic wave r2 and with high int the damage on the swipes and especially the weapon art is insane. unfortunately i hear the baby rattle is kind of a meme.
>2015
>most people use Da or DS1, DS2, DS3 for dark souls
Did you read the threads that those posts were in? Unironically the only people using DaS2 are DS2 shills, probably from reddit
>agreed
>the das2 dlc is some of the best content in the souls series, especially the iron king and sunken king dlc
>It's just the hip thing to bash DaS2 like a deranged monkey to fit the hivemind
>The only people who hate DaS2 are the same people who watched Matthewmatosis' Dark Souls 2 review and are just parroting his opinion.
Literally the same talking points used in elden ring threads, redditors confirmed
are you the anti-DS2 schizo? that would explain a lot
Are you the person spamming "you can't hate DaS2 you got that opinion from a youtube video" redditor from 8 years ago?
no, I don't even like DS2. can you now answer my question?
How does me not liking DS2 make you not a schizophrenic reddit spammer?
It's almost like these have been talking points since the beginning.
are you talking about ? do you know that I was agreeing with you? you're the most moronic poster I've seen in a while
Oh well then the point still stands, the guy that trolls these threads, the serial DS2 shitposter, is the same guy that was shitposting 8 years ago. He even uses the same arguments
>people arguing over DaS acronym
it's really like im on 2011 Ganker again
I remember when you guys would whine about people not using DkS to reference Dark Souls and DS to reference Demons Souls
Anon, its an immortal debate. Like the one anon who brought up Pokemon, they still argue over acronyms all the damn time. It's pointless at the end of the day, just type out the game and go about your day, it takes 3 seconds.
>just type out the game and go about your day, it takes 3 seconds.
Or just read the obvious abbreviation in the FromSoft thread, it takes less than half a second.
The quality of From Software and their playerbase declined when Dark Souls hit the PC platform.
This, 1000%. The entire franchise's community took a nose dive almost overnight. Didn't help the Pewdiepie was the sole reason the game took off on PC, either.
>still not answering the question
so you are the anti-DS2 sperg, that really explains a lot
Does it make you feel a little crazy that you're using the same talking points from 8 years ago? You can't not like what I like because you watched a youtube video about it?
>can't even read my posts
sigh what a moron
Were you or were you not the person spamming 8 year old DS2 threads with "you can't hate DaS2 because you watched a youtube video"? Because I've seen the exact same schizo reddit argument posted in these threads.
I'm not that moron, how did you even deduce that? do you think about him every night or something?
Uh huh, I think you are that moron, and you linked to your own reddit shitposts from 8 years ago
Consoletroons are worth less than the dirt beneath my feet. You all use troonveil and sorceries and spirit ashes. You didn't beat the game.
whatever lets you sleep at night
That's funny how the DS2 troony would link to his own shitpsoting threads from 8 years ago to try and find somebody that agrees with him
>it's himself
I explicitly said that I don't like DS2, what are you even trying to accomplish here?
