Elden Ring Invasions

I just made an invader and holy shit why did Miyazaki ruin invasions in this game. I decided to use the great epee since I've never really messed with thrusting swords in Dark Souls. After getting my ass handed to me by a few gank squads I tried out perfume and now I just two shot the phantoms and the hosts are useless. The system was at its most fun in dark souls three with high phantom limits and covenants. In this game you literally can only invade hosts who have one or two phantoms and the total player cap is 4. The constant 2 or 3 vs 1s force me to make a optimal build that just shits out damage on poor PvE players to deal with all the dedicated gankers. This system literally only seems best for those braindead players that sit in gank squads and spam aoe. You literally never get to invade normal players who play the majority of the game solo. Instead you get these special little guys who just fat roll around after you kill their phantoms.

Modern invasions are lame. They should bring back solo invasions. At the very least for certain dungeons.

DS3 pvp was ass, just like ds3 as a whole. So ridiculously boring.

I imagine you prefer ds2 the game where player characters always move like they gotta take a shit and are worried it's just gonna pop out and the environments have the most beautiful repeating texture quality almost evocative of the N64 games of my youth.

I prefer the entire series to ds3. As for texture quality, ds3 has much, much worse issues than that lol

Please explain to me why conservativly half the areas in a game looking like ass is something I should judge less harshly than misplaced assets at the edge of a map pretty much every player will miss.

No other souls game has places where you can look outside the mad and see a massive pit into the fricking void lol. Look at this and tell me it's quality. The only way to miss it is if you don't look or you ignore it so that you can pretend its a well crafted game. This isn't misplaced assets. It's laziness unlike anywhere else in souls.

Neat you have no argument against the fact you have to look at the edges of the map in 3 to find ugly shit mean while it's front and center in 2 so you resort to calling me a baby. Fascinating. Anyway Dark Souls 1 was my first souls game and remains my favorite overall but watching you sperg out because I praised an aspect of 3 in the OP has been entertaining.

Interesting you seem to be the one who's only denying and not engaging with what other people are saying. I suspect this stems from a shitty childhood spent playing ds2 spitfully resenting those who came before enjoying DS1 and Demon's at their heights. This now overgrown child spends it's days blindly flailing at the game that came after 2 in some bizarre attempt at vindicating what it once felt. He sees a thread that casually praises DS3 PvP and can't help but spam screenshots off obscure coroner's of the map over and over, as if this will make OP like DS3 PvP less. Then repeat his mantra

How often do you run into kitted out ganksquads vs what is clearly two or three random PVE coopers that never fight PVP and you absolutely blast them apart? I'm just curious because I coop Elden Ring all the time so I fight invaders all the time. You know what completely still fricks me? That axe with the lightning whirlwind move Nepheli has. I've died to it a hundred times, you think I would learn not to just bumrush the invader when he pulls out an axe but nope, I think endure will save me.

It's really varied with the different times I've played sometimes they are all I seem to see, others I'm mostly running into two guys running through a level together(usually with host who forgot to level vigor with dropped late game gear and level scaled phantom) Across the board everyone seems to have forgotten to level vigor. I've run into a solo host using taunters tongue exactly once.

DS3 invasions were also bad. You'd invade someone to discover the gank squad and the host using a seed of a giant tree. Ever since Bloodborne the games have prioritised invading people who have already summoned. Invasions have essentially been opt-in ever since. In DeS and DaS there were actual benefits to going human which came along with the risk of being invaded. No more.

Elden Ring invasions were awful though. I spent the time doing them to get all the items and took hours just to get the bare minimum. Haligtree was the best place simply because the enemies were dangerous enough to cancel out the host with his two buddies.

Aww shucks, guess i wont be able to see my excellently made character with the top tier CC of das1 that surely wasnt going to be covered by one of the dozens of closed helmets of the game anyway.

DaS3 fixed this by forcefully giving you embers every boss death and giving you some bonus health, its not my favorite but it has the best online components of all of them.

elden ring pvp could be better if they made it so we could 3v2 invasions at the least consistently. the worst part is that you're going to run into at least one person in an invasion that is spamming mage which is super OP paried with two aggressive players spamming the same ash of wars close to you.

ds3 invasions were the best. things were balanced so you always had a chance at beating gankers which made them worth fighting.

The main problem for me is the lack of teams. You have blues and yellows who side with the host, and reds. That’s it, there’s no purples or blurples that can just frick with anybody or make temporary alliances.

only good post in this thread.

        Anonymous

        The real main problems are
        >no single player NATURAL invasions
People who want to be invaded dont want to give permission first with the tongue, its in the name "invasion".
        >small player count
After das3 raising the player count to 6 coming back to 4 just isnt cutting for most
        >open world invasions
The open world, as expected, SUCKS for invasions. too open, too big, too few enemies, so it becomes a minutes long chase sequence 50% of the time, boss invasions are great though.
        >enemies in dungeons
They were already too squishy in 3 but in ER they feel specially non-threatening, so one of the few advantages of the invader is lost with it

Most of these are easily fixable but From wont do it.

If you played close to release i would guess the game gives preference to players with summons so it never gave you a chance (one of the few weaknesses of the system), if it was recently i have no clue how that happened.

You can't even invade and play normally either. Both sides are fricked. It's time to admit that invasion is no longer a valid mechanic and if they want to have PvP in the PvE setting, they need to do something else.
