I feel like I have a good grasp on most of the lore but I really don't get the Eclipse stuff happening at Castle Sol. Miquella was trying to resurrect Godwyn? Why? What did that have to do with his Haligtree plans?
Also what the hell does the Mark of the Centipede mean? Both D and Rogier mention it but never explain what it means.
Also also, how can Malenia be an Empyrean of the Greater Will if she's possesed by the God of Rot? Is the God of Rot some kind of aspect or splinter of the Greater Will? Or is the status of Empyrean not exclusive to subjects of the Greater Will?
>Elden Ring
>lore
lol
yeah laugh it up buddy, I spent a total of 392 hours watching and rewatching Vaatividya lore recaps, the sheer volume of my knowledge would leave you quaking little guy
Could you bang me with all of your knowledge
I beat Malenia today with a final hit before rot killed me it was great. From what I understood Miquella wanted to revive his brother with the eclipse but Radahn held the stars back which brought about Malenia to go fight Radahn while Miquella gets his twink ass stolen
> pic related
I think what actually happened is Mohg stole Miquella from the Haligtree, then Malenia went on a campaign to search for him, which lead her to Caelid, Radhan's territory, and they clashed.
She was pretty close tho. Mohg's palace is almost right below where Malenia bloomed the first time (the place were you fight the Commander)
I bet the reason Radagn fought Malenia is that if he didn't he'd look like a b***h, laughed at like Godrick, who cowered before her.
Godrick basically screwed up everything for everyone by involving himself in the Shattering.
Nothing in the game supports this. The game says she was partaking in the shattering wars in the intro.
It has to be an event after. Blue dancer beats rot god and then Malenia is born blessed by the rot god, then she kills her master in a duel.
>Z-Zanzibart…
fippy bippy
Miquella was on his second iteration of forming a plan to fix godwyn with an eclipse that signified rebirth.
His first plan was a sword to stab him with and hopefully draw out the destined death.
His second plan was the eclipse at Castle Sol.
Last attempt was the Haligtree. He thought that the DD curse was fueled by the GO faith itself and that a new tree centered on a new paradigm could shift the power in the world away from the GO and toward what he wanted.
Empyreans are just a title for someone that will be groomed from birth to claim the ring eventually. She was going to be an empyrean regardless of the rot god infesting her or not.
Why is Miquella the tree but also in the egg?
He went into the tree to be the soul that powers it like Marika in her tree. Mogh stole him as he slumbered and took him to the underground temple.
D was complex. He was close friends with Rogier and in their lines of work they wouldn't normally be so buddy buddy. He seemed pretty bummed after Rogier died.
I wonder if he ever knew who Rogier really was...
>I wonder if he ever knew who Rogier really was...
who?
Rogier, the sorcerer in roundtable hold. He has a secret you find out if you go down one of the alternate endings. D and him were good friends.
They might’ve known each other since long before the events of the game. He’s summoned as a foe in the fight before Fia so maybe he never told D what his plans were. He definitely were in cahoots with Fia somehow, though I never really understand why he suddenly got super aids and just up and died like that.
>fricks a woman who fricks dead people
>get deadly STI
don't simp
He was snooping around under the castle and saw the godwyn face and touched it. He brings it up when you first talk to him being sick.
I don't think he ever told D about his real motives, they were both on opposite ends of the investigation with it and Rogier just told him he was on his side and trusted it.
I forget how D dies but I think Fia stabs him because she disappears right when that room opens to find D dead.
D gets murdered by Fia, who in turn gets murdered by D’s brother.
What I wonder is if this means that the new prince of Death or whatever she called it won’t be born even if you go for her ending.
The Child us the Mending Rune.
Oh okay.
Fia dies in her dream. D's brother doesn't kill her
If you give D's brother the Twinned Armor he'll go and kill Fia before she gets the chance to commune with Godwyn.
fia gets the dagger from lionel.
you give the dagger to d.
the dagger is infested with death blight.
d dies in the roundtable to death blight circumventing the nonaggression rule around the table.
Considering how long Rogier lasted before dying, it seems improbable that D would die so quickly of death blight. Fia also stands over his corpse and angrily commands you not to follow and that you will be considered an enemy if you do, strongly suggesting that she had killed him. Returning the knife was likely to test his intentions, to see if he would react aggressively to finding out one of his companions had been taken in or killed by the rot.
Mark of the Centipede is the cursemark of death, which is responsible for Those Who Live in Death existing. Naturally, D would be against this since he’s a Golden Order kinda guy.
Goldmask robs the world of innovation.
Fia creates a stagnant world.
Ranni abandons it.
Dumb chaosgays destroy it.
The only correct answer is Dungeater.
Only correct answer is Ranni when all angles of the game are about taking free will from everyone in some form.
The Lands Between is evidently Midgard, since Tarnished supposedly arrive there when they die. I’ll restore perfect order to this make-believe world if I can since my guy has already lived his life.
Gold Mark ending is ending idol worship and directing people to worship the greater will directly. It does not restrict anyone's ability to do anything except inter or change the elden ring itself.
>The only correct answer is Dungeater.
Explain why without basically saying "because I dont like the other options"
He's roleplaying so he picks the most abhorrent options and claims they are the best.
I hate what they did with Fia and Those Who Live In Death because the writers just make Fia look like a fricking moron.
>Nono these dead people are good I promise
>They attack you on sight? N-no don't worry about it
>You see this gigantic, festering, putrid, disgusting, bilding sized corpse? It's a good thing!
They should have had an underground group of intelligent TWLID like ghouls from Fallout.
>You see this gigantic, festering, putrid, disgusting, bilding sized corpse? I'm going to force it to cum in my pussy
ftfy
She's fricking crazy and there's no rhyme or reason for it.
Ranni's mistranslation is a gross example of sloppy localization in even a AAA title. Not gonna write the whole paragraph you can find the details yourself.
She meant to distance herself from the world and it's inhabitants. She'd still be the God, but wouldn't be breathing down everyone's neck like Marika and Elden Slug were.
Empyreans aren't gods anon. The dark moon is the outer god in control in her ending it isn't ambiguous. Said outer god doesn't give a frick about what happens on the planet.
It's not confirmed that the Full Moon/Dark Moon are Outer Gods
Marika is God for the Lands Between, which is appointed by the Greater Will, an Outer God. Outer gods are at least one tier higher. God might be nothing more than a derivative title, but still nonetheless a God.
Empyreans are God candidates, to replace Marika.
Even Rani, who circumvented a lot of things, still said she meant to "establish her own order", whatever that means. Could be that she forsook the Elden Ring and the Greater Will entirely and opened the way for the Dark Moon (not confirmed whether that's an Outer God or not) to take over and appoint her as God on those terms.
Or could be that she just became Marika 2.0, under the GW authority but with her freedom intact.
Regardless, the EN translation makes it seem she abandons the world and fricks off completely, leaving the LB without ruler or order. The 1000 year voyage is fanfic. In the og JP is clear she becomes God and establishes order, but chooses to oversee the world from a distance, so that "she can't be perceived, seen or touched".
In the translation it makes that last line seem like she's removing those concepts from the world, much like Marika removed the concept of Death. It is a gross mistranslation which completely changes the meaning of the Ending.
Really hope that ending is rewritten then.
No need to rewrite it he's shitposting.
I don't know what's going on in this thread anymore.
If you are too new to recognize the translations shitposter doing her gimmick I don't know what to tell you.
She waited until we were at autosage to do her routine because she's cowardly and folds to people shitting on her.
Go back to the sharty
He's right though this is a running gimmick since launch by the discord.
They think we are their friends.
everything I said is factual. Look it up yourself.
would've taken you 5 minutes to not look stupid
"Outer gods" are a mistranslation. They're "kami", and they're of the earth. The Greater Will is a cosmic god, well above the levels of the terrestrial gods. The only entities on par with the Greater Will are the Primordial Current and the Frenzied Flame.
>ER troonylation was even more fricked than we thought.
Fricking GRIM.
So which "gods" are Kami then? And what's Marika? Please include those which are unconfirmed gods too, please.
>falling for shitposting
>pretending to believe shitposting
Grim indeed.
>So which "gods" are Kami then?
Rot god, formless mother, probably the dark moon. Marika is called a god but she's really more of an avatar, or even just a demigod.
Those are all outer gods. Not marika she isn't a god of any type.
They are called "Outer Gods" because they and their worshipperw are outside of the Order, dumb morons. It has nothing to do with them being in space or not
Can we start calling the discord outer anons?
>Goldmask robs the world of innovation.
the only thing he "robs" is the opportunity for morons to distort reality
>Based. Reformation and fundamentalism should be the focus of next thread a lot of anons miss out on how the church changed over time into what it was and how it reveals the true nature of the elden beast.
It’s fascinating and not talked about enough. Even just the covers of the Golden Order prayer books depict how the faith gradually evolved. The Erdtree loses prominence and is replaced by the rigid fundamentalists’ symbols and shapes
The 2 rules of causality and regression are also a perfect example of the smallest ruleset possible to not allow any contradictions to the dogma. Then you have the church locking Marika up which is a big power play.
He chipped off a piece of it and turned it into a physical weapon to kill things with.
What would be an appropriate timeline for all the different religions in ER? All I’ve gathered is that Crucible probably definitely was there first since it’s supposedly so primal.
Where does Beast miracles fit in?
Crucible
Erdtree
Golden Order
Golden Order fundamentalism
Other things like fire giants and dragons are in the middle somewhere, GO starts officially with giants being rekt.
Age of the Erdtree starts after the defeat of the Fire Giants. The Golden Order began when Death was removed from the Elden Ring.
Beasts are part of the crucible. Crucible is base evolution as a religion. Animals vying for dominance and the ones with bigger claws are more blessed and will be a better being.
Dragons took the basic understandings of the evolutionary track and focused on the horns claws and tail and the eventual ending animal is a dragon.
Dragon cult took the teachings of the dragon while forgetting the base teachings of the crucible so people will backslide down the evolutionary chain to being wurms not dragons.
thanks for the corrections.
If we delve deeply enough into the timeline will we find evidence of Marika and Radagon being the same person? Like if you use all the in game text to form a timeline will there be a gap in Marika's actions when Radagon is off fricking Rennala?
You mean as to whether they were always the same person or seperate at some point? Not really. Radagon only first appears during the war with the Carians.
There isn't really a moment they would have merged that the game points out, it just stresses them being the same person. It cant be because of the shattering because they had that statue made and that was naturally before ghey were imprisoned.
I want to know why the hell Radagon gave Renalla the Rune if Rebirth inside the Amber Egg.
>I want to know why the hell Radagon gave Renalla the Rune if Rebirth inside the Amber Egg.
He's very nicely telling her to kill herself the sex was whack. He probably left her barren after birthing demi-gods and she is an archetypical mother stereotype in an empty nest.
I only just thought that Ranni "died" during the Night of Black Knives. That might have fricked with Renalla pretty hard.
It will be revealed in the dlc that michael was part of godwyn's death and not forgiving himself is why it turned into a crazy curse.
It is just michael's guilt over the event mixing with his power to influence people.
Michael? The Unemployed?
Don't be like Mohg, make the right choice. Say no to Miquella
So what's up with the rune of death?
How'd Maliketh get it back after it was stolen the first time?
only a piece was stolen
Ranni only took a small piece
I don’t get Miquella at all.
Sleepy boy trying to cure his sister and grow his own erdtree
He was cursed to be forever young and his older brother thought that was hot
Wants to cure the world of all it's ills, can't. That's all.
I got all that I was awkwardly stumbling around the source discorder since I don't have a wiki entry to prove my claims. I know I'm right, I just can't be assed to look up a textdump to find it and was trying to qualify my statment.
>Zanzibart was trying to resurrect Myrmidon of loss? Why?
What does Ranni's age of stars mean for the astronomers? I can't figure out if their practice was dependent on the golden order structuring the heavens or a lost art that the golden order muddied to diminish their importance.
Radahn arrested their cycles so they could no longer determine fates. Obe would assume Astrononers would be quite important during an Age of Stars
Tree worship was a fringe religion that sprang up in the Eternal Cities and eventually replaced Astronomy as the predominant faith after the Eternal City’s and Nox civilization were banished underground. From there, the Great Tree, Crucible and Erdtree eras all followed
So the age of the stars is Ranni returning the world to the Pre-Tree faith. Trees just caused bullshit
Yep. The weird minotaur people worship the moon and that is the future ranni secured for us.
I think she was plotting with the giants and that is how they managed to get a curse on her when no one else could.
>the Pre-Tree faith
>the
Which one?
None of them matter outside the erdtree faith. The rest of the religions get folded like a worked shoot to the various erdtree jihads.
Yup. The Night of Black Knives was a conspiracy between Ranni, a Carian Moon Princess and the Nox, ancient Astronomers, to weaken the tree-centric predominant faith by starting a succession crisis that would open the path for the return of Astronomy
Marika literally helped Ranni
No. This has always been a baseless assumption.
>baseless
>all the numen connections
yea and your astronomy shit is extremely verifiable right
I have not mentioned astronomy. I DO think Ranni was effectively restarting the Nox's war against the Greater Will, but I think it was mostly her being manipulated. Considering that her mentor warned her about this possibility specifically, and she ignored it, and then became literally a puppet. The symbology isn't exactly subtle.
It goes deeper. Rennala and Radagon agreed to have the moon follow the sun then the sun follow the moon in controlled succession.
Ranni's darkmoon is who told her to break the whole system and not play for half measures.
The items discussing how all magic is fueled from those rocks is what makes them magical. It's why sorcerers use glintstones.
The shiny stuff in the Nox cities is not glint stone. Glintstone is blue to green, not silver. It's mercury. Everything in their cities is covered in the stuff.
Who else could have stolen a fragment of death from Maliketh but Marika? What else did Maliketh mean when he said Marika betrayed and tricked her?
>Who else could have stolen a fragment of death from Maliketh but Marika?
Probably the ones who used it, the black knives. It's not like ONLY Marika/Melina could give someone access. Fricking Alexander found his way there and I don't remember him pulling up to have a share of my Accord.
>What else did Maliketh mean when he said Marika betrayed and tricked her?
He never said anything of the sort. He said that the rune had been stolen from him and then when defeated, begged forgiveness from Marika for losing it once more.
>He never said anything of the sort
"Marika...why...wouldst thou...gull me? Why...shatter..."
NTA but that clearly implies he views her act of shattering the ring as a betrayal for obvious reasons
Gull means to decieve. Shattering the Elden Ring is a betrayal but it's not a deception. Having him guard the Rune of Death and then using that trust to steal it from him is a deception.
>Shattering the Elden Ring is a betrayal but it's not a deception.
Unless Maliketh was led to believe that he was fighting to uphold the Golden Order and Marika herself destroyed it.
He probably thought this exact thing. He stuck by her plans after she shattered the ring he had to believe it was going to be for a good purpose. He was made in the ring system for the ring system he would never understand living outside it.
>Marika...why...wouldst thou...gull me? Why...shatter...
is what Gurranq says when you kill him in the Beast Sanctum. So the shattering of the ring seems to be the betrayal.
Probably because he did everything to protect the Order, while Marika destroyed it. That's how I took it.
No that is showing Gurranq not understanding the situation and struggling as her shadow.
All shadows fail to do their task though, that is why he stays loyal to her to the end. Same as Blaidd.
Well of course he doesn't understand, that would be exactly why he feels betrayed, though.
Yeah and then Ranni did her own thing and ushered in the age of the stars without her. Cause they sure won’t working together anymore after I killed the beast
Marika just wanted to end the GW. Her plan was largely in the Tarnished but when she learned about Ranni's plans to also cast off the control of the GW it probably didn't matter how she achieved it
>Marika just wanted to end the GW
You don't even really do this though, the Ring is repaired in 4 out of 6 endings
But the Greater Will has abandoned the Lands Between. And you burned the Erdtree which is a cardinal sin
The tree is back in the final cutscene.
It abandoned TLB long before the game starts and the flames are extinguished when the ring is repaired.
Most people see ranni's ending as canon since it is the best outcome. People default to assuming that is the ending you did (merited).
They did try, she just doesn't exist as your waifu. It's fine.
>They did try
No they didn't that was the point of my first post in this chain you filthy Tarnished. Melina didn't need to be a waifu, she just needed to be more than what she is right now. Shanalotte doesn't declare her love for you, but she DOES declare her loyalty in the face of hopelessness.
Your point is wrong.
If you see a post purposely misquote the game or get the particulars wrong just ignore them they are doing it on purpose. The hole in their knowledge gap can only exist if they know more than they are letting on initially.
We are a scant 10 posts before the goldcuck starts talking about the great tree.
>Your point is wrong.
I truly do not believe so and you're welcome to argue your point instead of just leaving it be and edifying any and all who read our conversation. I'm 100% sure I'm correct in what I've been saying.
What the FRICK are you wearing?
That isn't mine that's from a youtube video I just looked up. It looks like Vengarl's chestpiece and one of the helmets with long hair.
Also the GW is a cosmic entity that hasn't visited earth in years, and getting rid of some tree cargo cult doesn't actually do anything to it
source: your earwax
Do people live on the moon?
Is the moon alive?
Does the moon contain Ranni's piece of the Elden Ring?
The moon is associated with Rennala for reasons, and the dark moon is associated with Ranni for reasons.
Ranni's shard is with her original body atop her divine tower. There is usually a fingers there but for her it is her burnt body. She gave up her shard when she went puppet form.
ranni's great rune is never found ingame
I never mentioned her great rune. Her shard is with her body since that is where you get them. Ranni just doesn't have a body.
There is no fingers there because Ranni killed hers.
what the frick do you mean shard then? the guy obviously meant her great rune. shut the frick up already
All the demi-gods have small shards of the elden ring they've claimed. That's the reason we have to kill at least 2, to claim their shards.
Great runes are who they are, shards of the elden ring are just shards of the elden ring.
Ranni's claimed shard would be on her flesh and bone body that she left behind intentionally. She's forsaken all the boons of her station to do her plotting.
great runes are literally the names for "shards of the elden ring." you never get ranni's great rune. please play the game
She gave it to Zanzibart, we'll retrieve it in the DLC.
The regular moon is just a rock, and may or may not have people or aliens living on it
Ranni's Dark Moon is an entity and probably not a real physical object at all.
They got some weird rocks in space though
If you LORE gays are so SMART, explain why Ranni is so CUTE then
Ranni is a PUPPET. PUPPETS are CREEPY, NOT cute
lies and slander
that THING is even CREEPIER than Ranni
you're the type to fall prey to some egirl's manipulations aren't you
If she's a cool hard working ice witch, than yes!
I like how Melina is with you for the whole game but all anyone talks about is how they wish that they could have hung out with mini-Ranni for longer
I'm glad that puppet yuri is canon.
>I'm glad that puppet yuri is canon.
source?!
I’m loyal to my maiden
Maybe if Fromsoft hadn't made the baffling decision to only have Melina show up at some graces instead of every grace doing her "bearer seek seek lest" when you level up, she would have been more popular.
She was never going to be popular.
Why not? she sounds similar to Ranni which from what I understand from her simps is what makes her popular
She's just an automaton doing a mission. I never got waifu simps though, I never got the ranni simping and just chalked it up to bad marketing.
>I never got the ranni simping
that's because you're a colossal homosexual, you'd probably like her more if she was a dude
No I'm just well adjusted enough to never get simping over fictional characters like that.
This still shows him as benevelant. It shows other people don't treat his gifts as well as he does.
If he were secretly evil like the cut content he'd just operate as the evil him since he can mind control people. He actively does all he can to not do it.
Goldmask ending is turning reality into a clockworks. There would be zero free will. Goldmask roleplayers are edgy teens and don't even understand their own ending. It's ironic in a beautiful way.
Just come out of the closet, buddy. Nobody will hate you for being gay anymore, but they will hate you for being an insufferable shithead.
>Goldmask ending is turning reality into a clockworks. There would be zero free will.
source: your left ass cheek hair
She didn't need to be popular, just more than what she is right now, which isn't much at all. Even Shanalotte is looked upon fondly because she hits key moments when she needs to as a character i.e. when you find Vendrick is hollow, she says
>I will always be at your side, until hope has fully withered
She declares her loyalty to you, whereas Melina is just along for the ride, she was testing you and didn't even believe in you from the word go.
She didn't need to be more than she is. She's supposed to be mysterious that you have to dig for to find. The last half of the game is full of finding out hidden stuff that was right in front of you the whole time.
The carians worship the moon and the GO uses sunlight rays as it's imagery for grace. It's blatant moon and sun stuff anon.
>She didn't need to be more than she is
Unfortunately she did considering this shot right here:
?t=187
If you know anything about film, if you've watched anything from the last 60some years, you know this long, closeup shot, the slowly building but never climaxing music, this is a sympathetic shot. We are meant to feel sorry for her. It does not land whatsoever. Not even a little bit, because she doesn't have even 1/10th of a moment like Shanalotte, or the Fire Keeper, or Emma, or the Maiden In Black. I don't say that with hostility, just to highlight how poorly Melina was handled.
>t.
I got irrationally angry when I learned you are forced to accept her traveling with you. Such bullshit, there are a half-dozen maidens around and you're stuck with her.
>Art thou truly so lonely that thou would spend your day thus?
Assuming you go though all the side quests, the Tarnished basically loses all their friends and allies by the end of the game. So of whom they need to kill personally. Plus I can't imagine dying hundreds of times is good for one's mental health.
Hey now, I still have Big Black Boggart around!
The best interpretation of Melina is her role as the stoic killjoy in the manga
has the manga finished
No it feels like it's going for a decent length playthrough
damn alright. are the battles good at least
They're fine but it's far more slapstick comedy than emphasis on real action
it defies explanation. coping loregays will ridicule you to cover for their inability to explain the inexplicable
It would help her get what she wants a non-zero percent of the time.
Ranni's puppet was literally designed by a puppet pervert. Of course it's cute. It would be against the lore for her NOT to look cute.
LORE gayS EXBLAIN. The frick is the Rune of the Unborn? Why did Radagon leave it and dip?
It's a metaphorical dear john letter to frick with her. She gifted him her moonlight greatsword and he turned it into the golden order greatsword then gifted her a yeetus feetus to remind her he births autismos.
Jokes aside, it is a gift so she can cope in peace because he took everything from her.
It seems like an insanely powerful gift for him to just give to her.
Not when she's addled as she clearly is. It being ironic is part of radagon's charm.
The rune of rebirth causes cognitive decline. Giving it to her caused her to lobotomize herself, thus removing the memories of the only person alive, that he knew of, that knew his true nature.
Source
>my ass
She and all her rebirth kids are moronic
That's because the Tarnished has divine protection which prevents him from being permanently afflicted by most things and even brings them back after death
Rebirthing shit doesn't work if you don't have the rune yourself which is why the scholars are so deformed, Boc straight up fricking dies after Renalla makes him not ugly. She's mindbroken because Radagon dick was THAT good and she can't live without it, any other "theory" is pure crack
>any other "theory" is pure crack
All theories given are he mindbroke her with his dick. Why are you so aggressive?
But you can use it in yourself and you don’t forget anything
There is a big behind the scenes conjob happening between the 2 houses. They were working together but both sides were planning a double cross. Rennala was going to have Ranni end the game, Radabeast was going to always keep control.
The egg is a joke showing Radagon knows about the plan. The rebirth rune would be ranni's but she will do a thing that makes sure she can't use it. Radagon gives her the run in the egg to hint he knows the plan.
Total Ranni Marriage and honeymoon on the moon!
i'm starting to run low on rannis
here you go
>Miquella was trying to resurrect Godwyn? Why?
Because he's generally benevolent and trying to fix the world. Resurrecting Godwyn would both end the death root (or at least cut off its source) and provide a powerful ally who is famous for ending wars with diplomacy
>What did that have to do with his Haligtree plans?
It's not clear if it did or if they were two unrelated plans. Both growing the halig tree and the eclipse have a similar theme, which is something smaller and closer overshadowing something large and brilliant; it's possible he was trying to do some sort of ritual which would allow him to supplant Marika without even having to go to the erd tree, which might give him new powers or something
>Also what the hell does the Mark of the Centipede mean? Both D and Rogier mention it but never explain what it means.
The "centipede" is the fragments of the rune of death that were used to kill Godwyn and Ranni. These weapons also leave centipede-like marks in their victims. Interestingly, the two "centipedes" together create a shape like an eclipse.
>Also also, how can Malenia be an Empyrean of the Greater Will if she's possesed by the God of Rot? Is the God of Rot some kind of aspect or splinter of the Greater Will?
The god of rot, like most of the "outer gods" (a mistranslation, they are just "kami") are not alien entities, they are actually aspects of this worlds, creation, which is why they are represented in fragments of the elden ring. They are a part of this world and its creation. A lot of Marika's children became touched by these forces because she conceived them while the elden ring was inside her own body. "Empyreans" are also just whoever the Fingers decide would be an acceptable host for the elden ring, it's not a special type of god or even necessarily approved of by the Greater Will itself, who has been absent from the world since at least the beginning of the shattering.
>Because he's generally benevolent and trying to fix the world.
No.
>ONE (1) item talking about how he's a skilled manipulator (which makes sense since he can't defend himself)
>literally every other item description talking about how he was the goodest guy ever
>WHAT IF LE GOOD CHARACTER IS LE EVIL LE EVIL
The people selling the bewitching branches are merchants. Miquella isn't the one using them other people are.
>This still shows him as benevelant.
>one item doesn't make him le evil he's the goodest guy ever
>There is nothing in the game suggesting that he ever used his powers in any non-benevolent way.
He utilises suicide bombers
>probably because of magic
Yeah, mind control magic.
All you seething and malding Black folk can screencap this and find out in the DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree: Miquella's Jihad
That isn't my or miquella's problem. He's as much a redeemer as Christ is in the game itself anon.
This description explicitly says that they became suicide bombers out of despair after he was kidnapped.
>may the flash of our deaths guide Miquella's return
They only started jihading AFTER he had already disappeared
There is nothing in the game suggesting that he ever used his powers in any non-benevolent way. In fact it may not even be intentional, given what happened with Mohg.
>Goldmask ending is turning reality into a clockworks. There would be zero free will.
You're fricking moronic. Literally nothing in the game suggests this. The ending is laid explicitly clear: the problem with the Golden Order is Marika, and more broadly the existence of middle manager human gods, so his rune makes them unneeded. The end of his quest is literally him being murdered by a die hard golden order rules boy for defying religious doctrine, and you think he wants to eliminate free will?
>seething goldcuck roleplayer
kek
so can you defend your argument in the slightest or will you just call seethe and concede
I'll call you a seethe and win. I don't need to defend my points to a roleplaying homosexual, especially when I'm right.
Go be upset about it, we need more zanzibart posts lol.
They hate themselves for being dumb and project it.
ok thank you for your concession
anyway order ending is definitely the most agreeable ending. every other has a caveat or flaw tacked on
most people liked ranni's ending most so it doesn't matter.
Artificial people created to do serf work. They are a primitive form of the silver bloods from the nox people.
>silver bloods
Those white stick figure guys?
>gets btfo'd about ranni's great rune
>now gets btfo'd about goldmask
man you can't catch a break
You do you anon no one cares. You get laughed at here for paying to post people know the goldcuck poster is a pass holder.
From underground? Yeah. Albinaurics are a corrupted version of the same artifice.
I remember reading a passage from The 48 Laws of Power that asserted that infants use techniques to get what they want and that power games are intrinsic to living. The weak boy-god Miquella surely needed to inspire others like anyone in a weak position would. Compelling affection is merely a means of survival, not sinister. Unless babies are also villainous.
miquella isn't even weak. he's said to be the strongest empyrean, probably because of magic
He's the most fearsome, he's full specced in INT/MIND/FAI while being 1 in everything else. He's clearly the most intelligent of the demigods and has a lot of potential but is inhibited physically by his curse.
Miquella is the most fearsome demigod because his power is that literally everyone around him was compelled to love him. It's an incredibly busted and almost completely uncircumventable defensive power. And as far as we know, he didn't even really exploit it, and did his best to try to leverage this ability for the greater good as much as possible. And the tragedy is, his great power is also what doomed him, as he even compelled the adoration of the devil Mohg, who stole him away from his work before it could be completed.
ngl im straight but even i get a boner seeing him on that horse. i guess his magic even worked on me *_*
Miquella's storyline is basically the missing second half of Elden Ring. The first half is Ranni, Rykard and Marika's numen assassins taking out Godwyn and destroying the golden order, while Marika shatters the elden ring leading to a demigod civil war where Malenia and Radahn double-KO each other and the attacks on Leyndell, Volcano Manor and Raya Lucaria fail. The tarnished are called back to break the deadlock and the game actually fails to move past that point. You don't truly kill Rykard, you don't truly kill Malenia, you don't kill Ranni or Rennala at all, Miquella is comatose, Godwyn's corpse is still consuming the land, all the endings are non-endings. There is no way the DLC will take place AFTER you fight the Elden Beast, it would be a huge copout and a red flag signaling that From has fully given up trying to make sense.
the DLC is just arena anyway.
The deepest lore is that Miyazaki was going to make Malenia barefoot but staff started making fun of him for it so he gave her prosthetic feet instead.
Imagine malenia giving you a waterfowl dance handjob, your testicles would implode from the intense nutting.
Oh nice, an Elden Ring lore thread. Been waiting.
I've scoured through the game but I can't find any answers, so I just want to know: Who is Zanzibart and why is he so apologetic?
Discord in full melt down kek
They hate lore threads because they are too dumb to add anything to the discussion.
Ok but: handholding with Melina
small sword = small penis
she's firewood
I mean being that she’s kindling, I think it’s canon that she’s really warm
Imagine the cuddles
post Melina
Why is her eye shut?
it's revealed in the frenzied flame ending
some small implications that she's the gloam eyed queen
Holy shit WHAT
Don't listen to him, that theory is old and largely ignored now
>largely ignored
>for no reason other than it screws up people's theories
yea valid reason to ignore it
It's ignored because everything Melina says is from Marika's perspective when Marika was alone.
For her to be the GEQ would mean Marika was the GEQ that defeated herself, which does go in line with the schizoid nature of the b***h.
Are people ready for that?
Yes you're exactly right. Except for one thing, Marika didn't beat the GEQ did, Maliketh did. And who is Maliketh? Marika's finger shadow, a kind of being that exists primarily to turn hostile against their masters if they go rogue. Perhaps by, to take a random example, pulling the rune of death out of the elden ring to use it as a weapon against the gods in heaven.
Removing destined death is fricking moronic if your aim is to kill gods since it makes it so they can't really die without it, you can achieve the same effect just by leaving it in the Elden Ring
if you attack them with the power of destined death itself they will die bro
It's really fricking smart to do if you are an entity parasitizing on a host and need to control how everything plays out to keep your control.
Someone could just kill her, or kill the next empyrean. Gotta hedge those bets.
>STILL on the parasite shit in the year 2024
Maliketh didn't turn on Marika when she BROKE THE FRICKING ELDEN RING what makes you think he's anything but a whipped dog (literally)
I think we've just scratched into a new layer on this onion after 2 years.
The idea is going to spread since it's right. It only applies to the outer gods though.
No the tulpa moronation is baseless. If belief, and not the actual celestial entities, was the source of magic, then some characters would be much stronger than they are and others much weaker.
She opens her eye in ff ending and it has the dark purple haze in it.
She isn't the gloam eyed queen though.
i mean it's not confirmed or anything but she opens her eye and it's a swirling, starry purple eye. kind of hard not to make the association with "gloam-eyed"
She's a chunni dork
Melina is Marika's disembodied spirit after she failed to destroy the elden ring. Marika herself was the gloam eyed queen before Maliketh tore her eye out and took from her the rune of death. This is why Melina's eye is sealed by the sign of the beast claw. In the frenzied flame ending, Maliketh is dead but Melina still exists, breaking the seal and allowing Melina to assume the position Marika had before she was the god queen of gold.
Melina is Marika 3rd child from her and Radagon's union
So she could keep an eye on the Mountaintop and the Kiln
>Melina is Marika 3rd child from her and Radagon's union
No. If she was people would know about her. But literally nobody in the entire game does. She also wouldn't have memories of things that Marika said or thought before Melina even existed.
>She also wouldn't have memories of things that Marika said or thought before Melina even existed.
That's hardly beyond the mystical shit in Fromsoft games
Marika was a numen but the underground cities have no association with the godskins.
The godskin cult could only have been created after the elden ring had been found by Marika, because their black flames used to be tinged with destined death. As such it makes sense there would be no connection between the god skins and the underground cities (if indeed, that's actually where the Numen came from) because she was already top side when the cult was formed.
Godskins are probably one of the oldest factions remembering an echo of the first time the control of the ring shifted from 1 god to another.
This is how it plays out. Alexander keeps getting stronger when other jars don't. He has the will to get stronger so it manifests in the world.
The outer gods are literally tulpas. The 3 fingers was "made" in the setting by people and they go over it from beginning to end.
but he doesn't get stronger
Alexander gets stronger because he's willing to endure suffering and struggle to improve himself. If mere determination and ego was enough to become powerful, Godrick wouldn't be a joke.
Kinda makes since, especially with the "in Marika's words" lines that Melina gives.
Riddle me this; what are albinaurics? I just finished Latenna’s story and she did something to the big b***h but I don’t understand at all what.
They're some sort of imperfect lifeform created by humans (that's why they are imperfect)
The first generation ones are the human-like ones like Latenna. Because they are imperfect, their legs fails early in life which is why they ride wolves
The 2nd generation ones are the fish-looking dudes around the Lake of Liurnia
>Riddle me this; what are albinaurics?
Semi-artificial life forms created as an experiment. The Nox used quick silver to create fully artificial life, one of the sins which got their civilization destroyed by the Greater Will. Normal life forms derived from the elden ring (which is basically everything other than aliens) have life forces of gold. "Albinaurics", as the name implied, are a mixture of silver (albeit, probably quicksilver) and gold.
>I just finished Latenna’s story and she did something to the big b***h but I don’t understand at all what
It's not entirely clear. One interpretation is that the albinaurics were doomed to extinction because of being unable to reproduce, but somehow Latenna figured out how to make the big lady able to bear children (and presumably this would be passed to her own daughters), but this isn't explicitly stated, other than that their kind would have a future.
The Albinaurics are basically an artificial people that were created with magic to be a slave race.
The giant lady was implied to be a patron saint or messiah of sorts to the Albinaurics and Latenna brought her something to let her rebirth the next generation into a purer and more hopeful state. Or she just magically knocked her up or something I don't know.
It had something to do with the Haligtree being a sancutary for the "Erdtress outcasts". Albus and Latenna make it clear the Haligtree was suppsoed to be a haven and new home for the Albinaurics to thrive. The spells dropped by Loretta mentions how she was searching for a home for the Albinaurics
That's why there are Albinaurics in Ordina, and things like Misbegotten at the Haligtree itself
You all pre-ordered your miniature Rannis, right?
The real question is why was Melina's hidden plotting room in the middle of the second lift leaving for the forbidden lands?
Why there?
>Melina's hidden plotting room
wut
look up blade of calling location
It's the room where you can get the shitty letter opener that Melina brings to the Morgott fight for some reason
found tulpa gay on reddit
So what’s Lyndell in the Rome/Constantinoples spectrum?
It literally has the Theodosian Walls and is famous for being unable to be breached by even the greatest warlords at the peak of their power, and when you reach the city at the end of its power, it's being defiantly held by a warrior king who insists on fighting to his last breath against the enemies of the city even knowing he will lose out of pure spite. It's as Constantinople as a fictional city could possibly be.
That and the fact that it was the city that ratified Christianity and expedited its spread. As Leyndell does with Erdtree worship. That was Constantinople. Not Rome.
By the time of the GO fundamentalists they resemble the protestant reformation though.
Radahnbowl already happened lad.
What happens with them is closer to the Protestant Reformation.
As a brainlet, I love visiting lore threads to read people arguing about theories that include characters I heard about once or twice, events that was vaguely referred to in a description of two items that was hidden in opposite part of the map, history of the world that I've never heard of, etc.
It's fascinating.
I've played the game 10 times and still haven't done Fia's ending because she is a prostitute. Hearing she has a whole quest ending is sort of funny I'd never talk to that trick.
Canonically, he does.
There tends to be a proximity to the space rocks dictating the powers. Merchants could only make the 3 fingers after being shoved underground where there is a frickload of that magic rock.
The second lift leaving Leyndell has a hidden room you can roll into when the lift is half way up. It is a small round office with an erdtree dagger on the desk.
>There tends to be a proximity to the space rocks dictating the powers. Merchants could only make the 3 fingers after being shoved underground where there is a frickload of that magic rock.
The three fingers have absolutely nothing to do with magic rocks and also that location isn't anywhere near any kind of magic rocks. It's a basement below a basement below a sewer, and it's surrounded by fricking open air, dirt, and tree roots. The only thing even remotely magical nearby is Godwyn's corpse, which has nothing to do with the frenzied flame.
Same. The earlier lore thread’s OP kinda blew my mind open about the real world inspiration for the story:
> So let me get this straight. She-Jesus married King Arthur on her way to conquering Briton and establishing her Byzantine Empire before eventually leaving him for Issac Newton of the Golden Laws of Physics. Shesus then betrayed God Himself in an attempt to free herself of the Holy Trinity but got herself crucified inside the World Tree.
Now you, the player, must usher in a new age by either upholding the rule of God and subjugating Shesus to make use of her holy womb once more, abandoning all earthly wants to achieve enlightenment alongside the Ever-brilliant Buddha, helping Lunar Princess Loki complete Ragnarok, or burning it all down with the Frenzied King in Yellow
that's really nice art thanks anon
share some more
I love the art style of ER. I bought both of the art books
this is stuff in the art books?
No i worded that poorly
all good friend, thank you
he's making it up. It was ranni and marika plotting to eventually end the ring wars forever.
Sort of can't. Soreseals are in the shape of eyes and both radagon and marika have one!
I wonder if they hired outside help to make sure they could frame these awesome vistas for the player or if they just know how to do it that well on their own.
It only just hit me in my recent new game that much of the Lands Between was subject to the same tectonic forces that created the High Wall of Lothric. It's a shame however it's less meaningful here than in that game.
same artist
KINO art. Looks like a scene from Second Apocalypse book series.
The Shattering Wars sound so cool tbh
who the frick are those two white haired girls supposed to be
>not recognizing the jellyfish
i never interacted with spirit ashes because i'm not a pussy game journalist
>Tears ahead
>the homosexual jellyfish b***hes whose only significance is a single minuscule sidequest that gives you a talisman that sucks ass have more fleshed out characterization than Miquella, Godwyn, Radagon, or Marika
my new wallpaper ty
What art style is this mimicking? Is it original? It looks gorgeous.
I dunno who made these, but they are mimicking old Roger Dean Artwork as far as I can tell.
do you have a link to these? are they separate and just stitched together for this post?
I only found them as one (on the Steam community page randomly)
unlucky
>ai slop
I wish they went more into the lore/idea of grafting
I know it was just Godrick being a degenerate but its kinda cool
Grafting was based on a complete misinterpretation of Godfrey's strength, so it makes sense that only a couple of weak demigods would have specialized in it.
Was it Godrick seeing/trying to mimic the Godfrey/Serosh thing?
Godrick couldn't cope with being a low tier demigod (there were lots of weak ones) so he coped by believing that he could be worthy by accruing power. He probably believed that Godfrey ascended from a mortal to a god by grafting a beast's might, so logically as a demigod to begin with Godrick should be able to surpass Godfrey. But of course he wasn't a warrior and only barely scraped by as a shardbearer by humiliating himself to Malenia.
Plus (if we ignore Godefroy, which we should), the other implication is that Godrick started grafting AFTER his duel with Malenia. He made fun of her for missing limbs, then she beat his ass, and his conclusion was, "well I guess I need EVEN MORE limbs than her!"
you can't ignore it because it's in the game. if you want to analyze every moron schizo detail and come up with random headcanons you have to accept all trappings of the game
Godefroy's existence was clearly a last minute addition and contradicts other details we know. For example, an already-grafted Godrick would not be able to pass as a normal woman in his escape from Leyendell with its treasures, and the way NPCs describe his behavior, it was something he adopted relatively recently, with some people not even putting together that Godrick is "the spider"
Logical assumption is godfry started experimenting on his family before himself.
I suppose that could rectify the contradiction. Good enough
This makes sense. He was carting roderika to experiment on her.
godefroy is not godrick though, so i don't know what you're saying. in any case, he's in the game. deal with it
if marika is the gloam eyed queen then we'd have to confirm whether she has both eyes or not, since the beast eye is probably the gloam eyed queen's eye
Stop saying my waifu is the GEQ
It's slander and not true
It's pretty confirmed that Marika was the GEQ and was always as insane as she is currently.
The nox people built their cities out of the stuff that is why their caves have gliterring stars on the top. Same magical rock lines the walls of the divine towers.
>It's pretty confirmed that Marika was the GEQ and was always as insane as she is currently.
It literally hasn't been but ok
There was no other way for Ranni to get to Farum Azula. Only Marika (and later Melina) could get there. We can guess that Ranni later tried to make a route there afterwards to potentially return based on one of the Four Belfry gates sending you there but it seems to have failed to connect properly
>There was no other way for Ranni to get to Farum Azula.
Ranni didn't go to Farum Azula, the black knives did. We also have no reason to believe that only Marika and Melina could possibly reach Farum Azula. Another option would be to contact a dragon. Ideally an ancient dragon, but possibly even a nu-dragon like Adula.
Oh also, the fact that the PLAYER can't access the rest of Farum Azula from the belfry gate doesn't mean that nobody could. The only reason the player can't is because the player can't fly.
She is the GEQ and the GEQ is CUTE. It's not an insult
The shiny stuff in the nox cities is mercury. It's not magical, and also probably not healthy. Also, the shiny rocks in the city near Leyendell were all stolen by Astel long before the Merchants were condemned.
No lad, I'm talking about how the canopy of their caves is littered with fake stars to remind them of when they weren't stuck underground.
That's one explanation for why they were there, but that doesn't make them magic even if it's why they were placed there, it's just shiny rock.
Beach episode when?
>blaidd holding selivus back
I usually dislike bad fanart but this is soul.
Malenia is the only good thing about this pile of a game
God I hope we get more qt in the expansion
>sun and moon cyclical bullshit
great. more headcanons with zero evidence ingame. the tulpa stuff wasn't enough malarkey huh
Why is so much content gated behind ranni's quest?
They probably finished it early on. Then the other stuff suffered the crunch
Because it's the true ending, unironically. After you learn everything there is to learn about the story you should do her ending as the canon one. 4 other endings are bad ends where nothing really changes in the grand scheme and the last is the shitpost edgelord ending.
Gold Mask ending is better
Also Dung Eater's ending is a much better shitpost edgelord ending than frenzied flame. If you're going to ruin everything, it should be because you're spiteful and evil and want to revel in being a horrible person, not because living is le hard 🙁
kek the roleplaying cuckold never left.
??
Just ignore any post with "roleplay" in it, he's the resident schizo
Don't reply to yourself dumbass. He's the goldmask roleplayer pretending he isn't. About 10 posts after his bullshit he just posts goldmask.
He isnt even being subtle about his shitposts. If you are new he has a long history of this and gets made fun of constantly for it. He pays to post.
Wait I'm replying to myself but you called him he?
>immediately upsets the shitposting edgelord
It doesn't land because no one cares about her and there is nothing they could have done about that. She's in the same game as Ranni her fate was sealed. I don't even like Ranni but come on dude.
>It doesn't land because no one cares about her
Yes.
>and there is nothing they could have done about that
They didn't even try, so now we'll never know.
> She's in the same game as Ranni her fate was sealed
That's true but Ranni fricking declares her love for you. That's infinitely more than Melina does. Again, they didn't even try.
I pretty much agree. It’s the DS3 End of Fire ending where you decide it’s time to for something different. Frick trees.
It's literally just the Moonlight Altar. You can even fight Astel without interacting with Ranni
i WILL marry miquella and become his elden lord in the dlc
Me too.
They very obviously completely changed, rearranged, and scrapped huge pieces of the lore and story before release.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of the major aims of the DLC is to clarify and redo whatever the frick the story is.
>I wouldn't be surprised if one of the major aims of the DLC is to clarify and redo whatever the frick the story is.
Has that ever happened with any DLC to these games? Seemed like they were mostly self-contained side stories.
Perhaps there's more of a need for clarification in Elden Ring, still don't see it happening.
Not really "rewrite" but AotA and Old Hunters greatly expand on the existing lore. Elden Ring is pretty different since there's a big chunk of the game's plotline (i.e. Miquella's story whom we know had a VA and voice lines that were removed) that are just missing and most likely being saved for DLC.
They oughta change the slideshow intro and the Mass Effect 3-tier different color endings at least.
>this *basic symbolism* exists so this obviously must prove *schizo moronation*
Ah, the Tarnished Archaeologist/Queelag school of lore theories.
>gay is so mad that he couldn't figure out that the puppet character is a puppet that he refuses to even reply to the post
lmao
Why is Ganker so much better at discussing Elden Ring than /vg/?
We shit on the discord gays until they shut up. /vg/ is where the discorders hang out when they get blown out on Ganker.
Look at how much the sisters are trying to spam this thread with their shitposts. It is being ignored so their "voice" doesn't actually do anything.
>Mark of the Centipede mean?
Remember what centipedes symbolized in Sekiro? Same thing.
Rot god is already an element in the game.
>bullying
we found a real connection pointing to her being the GEQ, she's had more attention ITT than she's ever had in her life.
>people bullying my waifu again
...Enter.
He's LITERALLY me
One of the Lance McDonald leaks confirms the dlc will include rewrites, but nobody knows how much.
>Has that ever happened with any DLC to these games?
DSII's dlc, but that's it really.
I'm about to do a zweihander run in ER, is doing it naked possible or is it just a chore?
It's possible of course but why would you? Mid rolling in this game is still very very fast.
>Elden Ring Lore
does no one poop in this world?
Why were there new Empyreans if Marika was meant to be eternal?
They probably knew from previous times that it wasn't always lasting. Placidusax's Empyrean left for some reason
Because she was faltering and the beast wanted a new host. It had to take control of her as Radagon to stop her actions.
Because the Fingers are just making shit up
If the Beast wanted a new host, it would not have sealed the Erd tree. No, the EB had Radagon seal Marika within the tree forever, because the EB was in self defense mode. "These morons are going to fricking kill me. I'm just going to lock myself away forever"
The beast was looking for new hosts before shit hit the fan. He's inside Marika's mind he would know if she was failing the cause first.
The brambles don't go up until shit really hit the fan as you said.
In general, the succession rules for the ring are rigged to make it so the current ring holder can dictate who is the next host. It was a system they used before it went SNAFU.
>The beast was looking for new hosts before shit hit the fan.
Based on what? The only things we know about it were that it was trying to permanently take over Marika and eventually succeeded, and then immediately sealed itself away forever.
Based on there always being a succession system for the ring. Even when Marika is first fighting for it with GEQ they are both empyreans showing the insular system used was being used back then.
It's just how the system is rigged.
Say I'm the host
>I assign who is empyrean and who isn't
>give all empyreans shadows to kill them if they betray the system
I'm only ever going to let a replica of myself become the next host of the ring.
"Empyrean" is just whoever the fingers say is an acceptable vessel for the elden ring, and they had no contact with either Marika or the GW. They don't even have any power to enforce this.
I know. I didn't claim they have any power. It just being a label supports my claim that it is just part of an intentional design so the succession will be controlled by the host.
Even the 2 laws are made up so people will stop asking questions. The whole thing is fake.
The two fingers are incredibly powerful, ranni had to end the lands between just to fight one and mutually lose. Keep in mind its impossible to hurt either ranni or any fingers.
Ranni ended the lands between to ditch her original body. And ironically, her fight with the fingers was only so difficult because she had this weak ass puppet body.
Contingency plan if anything ever happened. Hell, Marika and Radagon’s 3 kids were a mini-succession kit for the Greater Will to stay in power. Miquella to birth a new tree, Malenia Blade of Miquella to defend it, and Melina to burn the old one. But then Ranni said ‘nah let’s do things my way’, Marika shattered the Ring and all best laid plans went to shit
I don't think Miquella's Haligtree was kosher
Radagon tacitly approved of whatever Miquella was doing, as they had a good relationship.
I'm pretty sure it was an attempt to circumvent the Greater WIll
Nothing points to that, Miquella even bases his magic off of GO incantations.
Miquella also eventually abandons the Golden Order when he can't cure Malenia's Rot curse
This is when he started growing his Haligtree, to harness the power of the Erdtree but outside the Greater Will
From the incantation Rings of Lighjt:
>And yet, the young Miquella abandoned fundamentalism, for it could do nothing to treat Malenia's accursed rot. This was the beginning of unalloyed gold.
Golden Order != Greater Will
Unalloyed Gold is literally just the pureset form of gold, and gold is something that is entirely associated with everything to do with the Greater Will.
>Unalloyed Gold is literally just the pureset form of gold, and gold is something that is entirely associated with everything to do with the Greater Will.
Only because the beast chose to use gold as it's own color. Nothing inherent with gold linking it to the GW. Beast only uses gold because it is beautiful as the sun and will trick people.
You knew that though. The information you already know shows you had to know this part too.
The elden beast is the defense mechanism of the elden ring, which is the source of all life on the planet (except for the aliens anyway)
This doesn't track at all.
Shattering war kind of fricked with the world. No one gives a shit it's there there's patrolling to do.
>This doesn't track at all.
It does it you play the fricking game
Yes, it's too fricking big, also made of solid stone. And hey, it DOES look cool, and maybe keeping it around as a "statue" was a way of solidifying their new friendship with the dragons that Godwyn forged.
Miquella abandoned his dad's church, he didn't abandon the greater will. He abandons the very restrictive and close-minded beliefs of the gays in Leyendell and starts thinking more like turtle pope and gold mask
This. The Haligtree would’ve been Greater Will-sanctioned if he’d succeeded the throne. He said ‘frick your Jesus-freak church, but Yahweh is still cool.’ He was still gonna be it’s vessel
He was abandoned by the Greater Will like every other demigod
That doesn’t negate anything I just said. He was abandoned when he failed to become lord. But the Greater Will didn’t make him Empyrean with the intention of abandoning him. It just didn’t work out like all the bets it hedged before resorting to the Tarnished
He simply doesn't know any other way of life. Same way Mogh copies the empyrean layout when he doesn't have to.
He's underground in the roots. He has a massive model there are 2 boss fights in front of his massive bloated corpse.
D isn't an albinauric. Albinaurics are just made slaves they aren't for combat.
>D isn't an albinauric.
Then, what the frick is he? Silver and gold themed, and his weird quasi spirit connection with his brother?
A normal guy... like what the frick anon. He's just investigating DD as his job.
The armor and dialogue suggests that D and his brother had a metaphysical connection where they could sense each other's thoughts and feelings, that they shared a soul
They were incestuous. Same thing is happening with the vampire looking bros. The younger brother copes about not being a chad like his older brother. Then you have Selivus who isn't related to Ranni but lives on 3 sisters bluff and wants to rape ranni.
The game will take an idea and flesh it out 2-3 times so you see it from various permutations to see it is a theme.
It was not. It was merely an attempt to circumvent the golden order. Miquella was a fundamentalist, which contrary to the implications of that word in our culture, is a very broad and tolerant category of greater will worship, but greater will worship none the less.
Read
Miquella very clearly abandons those beliefs because it couldn't help him cure his sister
Why not? It was made by an Empyrean that would act as vessel for the ER. The Greater Will doesn’t care what the faith actually entails as long as it’s at the top of it
The Empyreans weren't necessarily trusted by the GW. That's why they all had their their own Baleful Shadows to kill them if they went rogue
But Miquella never went rogue as far as his duty as an empyrean. He rejected Radagon’s fundamentalism but was still fully prepared to be vessel (unlike Ranni who destroyed her own duty to shirk her duty), just for his own order
Carians and GO were both hedging their bets on demi-humans in a future cycle as well. Everything in game points to these cycles being pretty ordained and the overall outcome doesn't matter as long as the game is being played.
Ranni upsets everything.
>Carians and GO were both hedging their bets on demi-humans in a future cycle as well.
They are literally considered subhuman and the Academy laughs at people trying to communicate with them, what are you fricking talking about
Are D and his brother some kind of artificial constructs? They kinda look like mimic/silver tears without the armor and the brother is found underground near one of those Nox cities.
No but there is something weird going on there. Twins and one has a suit of armor with 2 tone knights hugging each other.
There's actually a quest about the jellyfish, she is an actual character with a name and backstory and shit. Great little quest.
The beast didn't seal the erdtree, the GO did. Marika isn't control of her own religion anymore, she's an apostate being held captive.
>The beast didn't seal the erdtree, the GO did.
The tree is literally sealed with Radagon's own Trellis Sigil. The Golden Order has no control over anything.
Radagon was the head of the GO fundamentalists, the church followed him and not marika. The church stopped serving marika a long time ago, before they become fundamentalist.
Sure, but my point is that the church didn't have any actual power to effect the situation in any meaningful way. Radagon did whatever he wanted through Marika and then it was up to the GO to try to interpret what happened through their own understanding of religion.
Silver and Gold, literally albinauric. They were probably an attempt by the GO to create artificial undead hunters.
>They were probably an attempt by the GO to create artificial undead hunters.
They were made in the peak opulence of the erdtree faith to do housework. Your bed still has to be made in your halcyon days.
And they are out there doing missionary work in a village of demi-humans.
I meant the likes of D specifically, not the albinaurics in general, which were generally meant for b***h work
Was Melina a very late addition in development? The only NPC to ever talk about her is Shabriri, and only indirectly. No one can see her but (You), her story goes nowhere, her outfit is recycled from Millicent and her sisters etc. Just kind of feels like they felt they needed a firekeeper type character and quickly added her in.
Trips compel me to reply: Check the artbook. It's worth noting that in the Dark Souls 3 artbook, Prince Lothric is seen emerging from, or being absorbed into Lorian via some kind of dark or deep magic. This doesn't happen in the game, showing that things changed. People talk about how Malenia was originally Tomoe, but there is no art in Sekiro's artbook about a fanciful swordswoman. If Melina's in the artbook different from how she is in the final product, you have your answer(s)
There are too many paralels between Malenia and Tomoe, Even being obssesed with a shota and being her personal bodyguard
can someone draw a silhouette around godwyn in the tree? i literally cannot perceive his body
look for this shape
got it, thanks. his flat frick head and fish tail were throwing me off
>yeah man trust me this is a good idea just take my brand and add it to the elden ring
>the Elden Beast is a parasite!!!!
Holy shit I hate Vaati for introducing this moronation and people mindlessly gobbling it up. It doesn't even fricking do anything on its own and it (as in the Elden Ring) is purposely designed to be extremely malleable and can be modified by the current God in many different ways.
What’s with the dragon in Lyndell, they couldn’t get the corpse out?
What gets me is that it died upright.
who carved the little bolt of gransax?
So none of these frickers forget what happens when you mess with Leyndell
-Marika, probably
Why did Malenia decide to go to war with Radahn?
Shattering Wars innit?
Malenia seemed like the biggest aggressor during the Shattering. She also defeated Godrick
She's not really a stable person all things considered.
She was looking for Miquella and would have succeeded of rescuing him in pre-cancer Caelid if she had cleanly won against Radahn instead of going into a coma and getting dragged back to the Haligtree. Crazy that she didn't lose her great rune to anyone during all that mess.
Man, I hope the DLC lets us clue her in on what Mohg is up to so she can off him herself.
I still want to write a fanfic about Finlay carrying Malenia back to Elphael
Like a Anabasis-esque tale
Frick Yuri. Write me a harem with Millicent and her sisters instead. Call it the Quintessential Quintuplets of Rot: a crossover
The title has to be able to be abbreviated as AIDS or STD
To prove she was the strongest
If Malenia thought that Miquella was nearby and comatose, she would not have bloomed right on top of him
I don't think she can control when she blooms, it was the first time in her life. The second is against us and the prophesied third has yet to occur, which would see her ascend to a completed goddess.
She can. She controls it and uses it as her phase 2 intro. She intentionally pulls the needle out against Radahn so she can bloom on him.
She intentionally pulled the needle out against Radahn and her dialogue in her own boss fight gives no indication that her blooming is unintentional. Also the fight against the player was the third bloom, the first was against the blue dancer.
This. It's why in the 2nd phase she's called "Goddess of Rot"
>the first was against the blue dancer.
?
>The dancer in blue represents a fairy, who in legend bestowed a flowing sword upon a blind swordsman. Blade in hand, the
swordsman sealed away an ancient god — a god that was Rot itself.
I don't know where that anon got that idea. The Blue Dancer is the reason the Rot God is sealed
The blue dancer was her master. There is always a "master" fighting with a chaos katana in these games and that person is absent, but Malenia's sword is doing the chaos katana buff and is in the same long katana as the chaos katana.
She kills her master in a duel. Ironic since her master is who originally defeated the rot god.
The prosthesis wearer heirloom says Malenia bloomed when fighting with the blue dancer. The context of this event is not given.
Huh. That’s a new one for me. I never bothered with the item description
>blue dancer
Idk about all that but there’s a flower before her boss room
She even has cringe monologues for when she's going to bloom on a motherfricker she is controlling it. She can't control it advancing in her but she can trigger a bloom whenever just by not fighting it.
Aeonia was 1. The room before her battle was 2. The fight with us is 3. It’s the title of her second phase. That title wasnt just to sound cool
>The room before her battle was 2
That's Millicent innit
Nope.
There would be 4 extra blooms around the gameworld if they were her buds.
No, because only the Millicent clones who get closer to Malenia status as Scarlet Valkyrie bloom, like Millicent at the end of her quest. That flower is another millicent clone, it has their set on it.
Would explain the traveling maid outfit we find there I guess
Change of clothes for Malenia after she gets out of it. She is a princess after all.
The bloom in the room by Malenia's boss fight is the flower from Aeonia which Finlay carried with her back home. It was also the second bloom, the first was against the dancer, which may be related to the story of him sealing a god of rot, or it may have been after this event.
The flower from aeonia is still in aeonia and its massive now. It’s what Millicent and her sisters germinated on
The flower in aeonia is not a scarlet aeonia
Why on earth would Finlay take it with her?
She didn't. I genuinely don't know where anon is getting that from
Because it had malenia in it...
You gonna cut her out? No idea what they will do.
It is since all these things are outer gods. It's semantics either way the ending isn't ambiguous or the result of a bad translation the discord sister is just on 1 of her roleplays. Coping endlessly about translations, and being wrong, is one of their gimmicks.
Can you provide the source where they are said to be Outer Gods
>muh source
maybe play the game?
>Coping endlessly about translations, and being wrong, is one of their gimmicks.
She only delayed the post as long as she did because an anon already called her out on the great tree posting earlier.
It's semantics anon.
Any indication that Malenia is stuck inside her blooms? She doesn't in the battle when she finally becomes the Goddess
>There is no text referring to either moon as a god nor an Outer God
Wanna try again?
Have you played the game though.
There aren't 2 moons lad, 1 of them is a fake. An outer god called by ranni. Her mother didn't commune with that god.
>There aren't 2 moons lad, 1 of them is a fake
Wat. Really?
Yep, the second one is the dark moon, an outer god.
??????
If you do ranni's quest she talks about her dark moon communion. Her mother just communed with the moon.
Ranni made her own outer god or one came to her and that is why she has her whacky plan.
Sure but where in all that does it talk about a whole celestial body in the sky being fake?
You literally can't see it anywhere but 2 parts of the map. It isn't fake anon, it's real, but there is only 1 moon. The second one is an outer god posing as the moon because it is an even more extreme version of the passive nature of the ancestor worship of the moon. It is even colder.
Couldn't this outer god BE a moon instead of posing as one? Dead Space?
It most likely took the form that would help it the most and the carians already worshipped the moon as their diety. It is just a colder reflection since ranni is colder than rennala in how she sees the situation overall. Rennala kind of gave up all at the end of the day.
That's a little headcanony for me anon.
I don't really care either way. She communes with a dark moon where her mother uses a normal moon. Ranni is an ice queen stereotype intentionally.
>She communes with a dark moon where her mother uses a normal moon
That's the first correct thing you've said.
It's all correct it just upsets you and you have poor impulse control.
I really don't care either way dude.
No one worships it aside from the prawns. Cleanrots are loyal to Malenia, not the rot. They use some branches to try and keep the rot off their armor.
Anon you cannot imagine how much I'm chilling right now, it's just not correct that the Dark Moon is really an outer god.......masquerading as a gigantic celestial body.
I don't really care anon. I already told you that. You can keep trying to chip at me forever, I won't stop posting.
Anon stop considering me as a hostile entity; I'm not chipping at you, and it's fine that you don't care. I'm trying to ascertain where you're getting the information that the Dark Moon is itself not real, but a form taken on by a god. I don't recall any text from the game suggesting this, and you have yet to give any. If you don't care enough to cite anything, well that's fine, but I'd rather you just said
>I don't care to cite my claim
That would be nice.
I don't consider you, that is what upsets you.
What? We're having two different conversations now. But I can see you're not going to say
>I don't care to cite my claim
So I guess this is over. I hope you have a nice day or evening.
Nope. It is a direct reference to the post being quoted. Anon implied I considered him at all, I said I do not consider him.
It's fine he isn't important and is just trying to latch onto someone like a little brother. It isn't my problem.
>Regardless, the EN translation makes it seem she abandons the world and fricks off completely
No it doesn't. She says the laws of the world will just be far away.
>No it doesn't. She says the laws of the world will just be far away.
You didn't get the extra dialogue from going back to Rani's Rise after finishing her quest then
She called me her beloved consort I did her quest 100%.
You just can't do your shitposting routine when people flat out tell you you are wrong and won't engage past that.
you seem insecure af
Nothing points to that so I'll chalk it up to you seething.
This makes sense and is the answer the game gives.
Samegay
It's a single post anon. Are you really seething that hard?
The thread posting the marika fanart stopped getting new posts as soon as anons started making fun of them here.
They are beyond pissed.
They dropped the facade and are just dark souls 2 posting now
That just makes it more sad than before though.
>thread dies on proof to shit on a embarrasing discorder
there is no better way it could have ended.
I was obviously referring to
and
The Dark Moon was introduced to Ranni by the Snowy Crone
No he is making stuff up for some reason with no evidence from the game
At the end of the boss fight if you go back in the room, she's stuck inside her flower, or possibly even just sort of "is" the flower.
No that's Millicent sisters. It has Millicents clothes set next to it. It's the same size as Millicents bloom if you kill her in her quest
She didn't. She took the flower that WAS a scarlet Aeonia, because Malenia was inside of it. I'm saying the flower currently in Aeonia, the big tree thing, is not the scarlet aeonia which Malenia bloomed with, it's just a rot-aligned plant thing that grew from that spot (from the spores, perhaps)
It's funny how Marika/Radagon ditched Rennala despite Renalla pumping out the best and least fricked up kids, all her children were absolutely perfect genetic beasts,
>ranni was an empyrean and also a huge lady, could've been a monstrous warrior or the super powerful caster we know her as
>Radahn is radahn
>Rykard was also a giant powerful man as per the painting and also had merits as a great leader and commander (before he decided to get snaked like a moron)
it's a shame radagon didn't stay with rennala a while longer, the only other non fricked up birth was Godwyn and he is just the gold standard of offspring so he goes without saying. Godfrey could only give the golden boy before striking out twice with the two cursed twins. Rennala's womb is top tier and confirmed better than the literal god marika kek
He was only with her to learn about sorceries because he was autistic.
Marika's kids all came out fricked up because she had the seed of all creation right above her pussy. But radagon was the father of renalla's children, meaning the sperm cells were only exposed to Elden Bullshit for a few days before being ejaculated
so you're saying Marika microwaved her eggs?
Thereabouts
>cursed twins
I read somewhere that margit and his bro weren't actually cursed and they just had ancient qualities of the Erdtree or some shit, like the crucible knights horns, does anyone get this, threads on its way out and I'm late to the party but will just throw it out there
Omens have an actual curse, they're not just crucible touched. Unlike misbegotten, their growths actually cause them physical pain, and their dreams are full of nightmares
frick that's brutal, cheers
Formless mother is a b***h.
Rennala didn't commune with it is the point. It either wasn't there for her communion or she just had a different god.
The curse may actually not be of the formless mother. None of Mohg's blood shit is related to his existence as an Omen, and the formless mother never comes up in the Dung Eater quest
The overgrowth of twisted horns and nightmares are but a reflection of the Erdtree suppressing the Crucible, since in the world of Elden Ring, Gods like the Elden Ring, or Outers Gods, have the capacity to affect and change who is tied to them each in its ways. This is also why poop man wants to kill the Erdtree by spreading the curse
moronic schizo headcanon. Especially your sick devotion to trying to propagandize the most vile character in any From game by far
The Omenkillers wear masks with the shape of the spirits that haunt Omen in their nightmares
Dung Eater armor is purposefully designed as a set of follower of the Golden Order, described as worn by someone once following the guidance of grace, and later adorned with decorations shaped like the cutting of horns.
The Dung Eater ruthless agenda or spreading and cultivating the pox is clearly due to him suffering for the loss of someone who turned into a Omen and was killed. The curse of the Omen takes the shape of the oppression of the Golden Order, which is why the Cursed Omen appear only after the Golden Order is established. This is also why Godwyn is perfectly nornal while the other sons of Godfrey are both Omen, a curse which is really tied to genetics and spread from parent to child through reproduction.
The Dung Eater is a twisted, sick and clearly broken character, but you are a moron if you think he is doing it because he likes eating Omen shit and anal rape. His whole armor set speaks of tragic lore that you are missing because the game doesn't spell it out with a 10 minutes cutscene.
In game he states he does it because he hates everyone.
wrong
how do loretta, blaidd and them make force ghosts?
magic innit
bloody brillaint
THEY ARE ALREADY DOOMED BAR TRUE DIVINE INTERVENTION
EXTERMINATE ALL
TOTAL REALITY RESET
>Elden Ring lore
Its literally DS lore tier. You make up your own headcanons and argue with people on internet for many years, whether simple or muh 2deep4u
No reason to make up your own headcanon when everything is fleshed out like it is.
The rare chadsimp.
Finlay has got to be the biggest chad or the biggest simp.
Funny because she ended up dooming the Haligtree by placing Malenia at the base of the tree
You guys think the dlc will be new areas, or a world revamp?
Both. I heard rumors of a full mirror of the LB, that is why Farum Azula got moved east. It will be in the center of a giant infinity ying yang.
After 2+ years in the oven that's what most people would expect.
Both, but not a big revamp. Just some rewrites, shuffling of NPCs, restoration of cut quests.
Probably 2 new legacy dungeons, a few new side dungeons, and hopefully restoring a bunch of cut content
I'm thinking that cloud at the center of the inland sea
How painful do you guys think having the scarlet rot is? Do you think your nerves die like leprosy so you don't really feel it? Does the mind rape effect cancel out pain? Or do you just suffer agonizing weeping melting wounds as your flesh is eaten and dissolved?
probably the latter like radiation sickness.
Fair, I would assume that too but you have lots of things worshipping it, so maybe it mindbreaks you into liking being a melting rotten mushroom
That might be something that could happen over time, if Scarlet Rot can be survived, at all.
Perhaps they worship it more out of fear or as a death-cult type of thing.
Millicent doesn't seem to be having a good time with it. Although I'm not sure if her being in pain has something to do with her arm instead, but she gets better as you give her the needle.
It feels like when he dream no longer needs the dreamer.
Goldmask was Copernicus, who proposed that the Earth/Man/Marika was not the center of the universe and was killed for proposing such heresy. His mask is the sun. His rune looks like a sun.
Sorry meant Galileo
>His mask is the sun.
His mask is the erdtree as seen from above (from space).
Goldmask people know fricking nothing about Goldmask.
I think it is intentional. 100% of goldmask enjoyers mess up the lore/story or get a completely backwards understanding of what was going on in his ending.
They are so routinely wrong that it has to be some sort of joke. They can't really be that brazenly stupid, not all of them.
Copernicus was the one who came up with the idea and he was largely lauded for his work. Galileo was punished for being a shithead, and he was not killed, merely put under house arrest
>Goldmask was Copernicus
to me he's more like luther denying the system of saints/demigods and saying no one on earth can speak on behalf of the gw
>On merchants and their lies
That tracks. I thought Galileo cause both suggested embracing a higher truth about the proper order of the universe and were labeled heretics
I think it's meant to evoke both. Though Copernicus and not Galileo, since Gold Mask isn't a huge fricking homosexual
Damn that’s a whole second thread now
The sisters made a marika wank thread to cope about not being able to derail this one.
Let’s derail that one after this one hits bump limit
>but I really don't get the Eclipse stuff happening at Castle Sol. Miquella was trying to resurrect Godwyn?
Or kill it, DLC stuff
>Why?
Deathblight spreading
>What did that have to do with his Haligtree plans?
His plan was replacing the Golden Order and Erdtree after Marika shattered the Elden Ring, and to use the power of Death.
When the Elden Ring giving life its fullest brilliance and which commanded the Stars (basically making sure only the guidance of grace could reach the Lands Between) was shattered by Marika, to save his brother Miquella tried to beckon an Eclipse, because the eclipsed sun, drained of color, is the protective star of soulless demigods.
Gold is associated to Life, lack of color to Death, so by changing the sky removing color from the world Godwyn could be saved, but the Ritual failed due to Radahn, which is why Malenia goes after him
3rd lore thread next?
I'm on a dangerous amount of amphetamines I'm down.
Someone make it
DLC comes out in February, we're heating up
>the cord starts spamming 15 posts a minute about translations after anon jokes about their coping jerk off thread
very sad stuff.
Those threads are fricking pathetic, just posting shit while others anons jerk off together, just frick off to omegle or your discord, why here?
It is a discord that shitposts on from software threads 24/7.
Doing their jerk off thread here is them publicly signaling that they are circling their wagons after getting blown out.
They act gay with each other to boost their morale before trying to shitpost again until they run away with hurt feelings to redo the cycle.
They aren't from Ganker so they don't know how to roll with the punches.
