What's wrong with Critical Role?
First off: Who the frick watches someone play a ttrpg? Second off: while it taking off may have possibly helped increase the longevity of interest in ttrpgs which might help introduce mechanics and stories previously unthought of, it’s also a double edged sword in that by bringing in a wider audience people start chipping away at the core to shove in their own self serving interests.
Neither of those things were criticisms of Critical Role just a description of what happens when something gets popular/mainstream appeal.

Well, there is the whole "LGBT" aspect of BG3 that journalists are praising as "stunning and brave." Obviously that shit is fricking cringe and lame, so Elden Ring not having that stuff might be what you're picking up on.
The most fun I had in the game was walk around with my friends looking for all the gay couples, helping them with their troubles getting our reward then murder them.
I thought Elden Ring was mediocre honestly but t least it was another earnest, legit and serious attempt at western fantasy and not the modern California group-therapy ((ironic)) dogshit like BG3 and modern D&D is.
