Not true, over CP 1k entirely on buy to play without sub. Crafting bag is a huge boon, but not unmanagable with mule toons or selling in guild stores.
They have a ESO Plus free trial on now even, every half a year to help you if you're truly struggling with fitting everything in your bank (alongside earnable stash boxes).

No, it isn't. The quality of a glorified commercial has nothing to do with the quality of the product itself, ever.
I don't think blizzard has made a spectacular, ahead of its time cinematic in over a decade. People caught up to them and surpassed them a long time ago.

Steam has its own client so say for eg, I played ESO in the beta and bought it day one, 2 years later it was added on steam, now if I play on steam it is a brand new client, I loose all my toons and progress and have to start from scratch on steam

All the PC players, well most of them and the hardcore that played it day one will be playing in the official zenimax ESO client, late players or people who picked it up on a sale for a look will be playing on steam

Does ESO have a thing like other MMOs where you get the old expansions when you buy the newest? Feels like there's like 7 of them at this point and there's no way I'm dropping shekels for each of them
Yes, most of the main past storyline zones you get included when you purchase the non-upgrade only version. Only a few of the side area DLCs are not included and are sold seperately. The ESO plus trial that's happening right now for another 2 days allows you to visit those areas and complete them over time if you don't want to purchase. Or you get them if you have ESO plus, the optional subscription.
Considering I only have to spend like $60 FULL PRICE a year (usually can even snag the year's expansion for less afterwards) and have 95% of the game unlocked for this mmo, it's a bargain for being one of the Big 3.
And that $60 full price, day 1 of the newest expansion is including like a near decade worth of previous content. If you purchase a DLC that is from the previous year, it's even cheaper in the single digits amounts. You can usually snag the latest dlc for half cost on a key reseller site, or even pay in game currency for everything since they have gold to crowns (the real money premium currency) sales.

Normally after 1 year the main expansion is included in the sub but all the other expansions are included in the sub by default.
