don't bother with ESO. storywise and lore wise, it feels like bad fanfiction. gameplay wise, its nothing like any TES game

Frick off, homosexual. It's all canon, story and lore, with the most lore in the series, and you're a no taste having dipshit for not appreciating it. I bet you just played base game, which does have basic quests and story that introduce you to the series and MMOs in general. It honestly has the best atmosphere and most diverse environments in the series. The combat is the lowest point because of the lack of weight, but it still allows for a lot of fun build variety.
It's always hilarious reading an UESP page, coming across something out of place, then seeing that the source is some flashy MMO mount/silly lootbox item description/dungeon
>he's proven he's a homosexual that only cares about mass appeal.
Well yeah, that's the point, Khajiit variants are one of the weirder lore bits Todd's been trying to kill for the past 20 years. Why do you think It went from an natural part of the setting that was regularly mentioned by npcs and the game itself back in Redguard and Morrowind to a minor piece of trivia you only ever find out about if you happen to read one specific in-game book in Oblivion and Skyrim?
I want to get into a mmo
I want to pay once and play the whole thing without missing anything
I also don't want a game that came out in frickin 1898,
where do I go?
Guild Wars 2 probably. You pay for the game + Expansions but that's it, no sunsetting old content, no monthly fee, just a shit ton of maps and open world to explore bosses to fight and most of ESO's game modes were lifted from GW2 anyway.
How is the pug scene? Is it more elitist than wow making it impossible to do group content without out gearing it and having the cheevos? >join a guild
CBA dedicating a schedule for bullshit
then eso is probably fine
i never said its a bad mmo, its just nothing like an actual elder scrolls game
the quests are mostly mmo tier kill x enemies in x area

i played through the vvardenfell questline and was revolted by how nostalgia baity the shit was. the whole premise of you basically instantly becoming the chosen one by azura as you arrive, then immediately meeting a literal god is just shit writing
i did like half of the main quest and got bored
i did a bunch of murkwood quests and god bored
the writing of each individual quest is about as good as an average mmo, as in, you completely ignore it because its meaningless and boring
It's honestly better than an average mmorpg and it feels close enough to singleplayer TES in terms of production value and general "feel". Combat is shit but so is Skyrim's lol. It will also be most likely the last TES game you can play so enjoy
>Elder Scrolls deserves better.
And whos gonna give you that?
Emil and the gang?
The main Bethesda guys have been surfing the tailcoats of everything MK wrote for them morrowind and prior. Thata why all the books and lore are good, they haven't had to make SHIT since.
Starfield is a fantastic example. Their own built universe and the "books" in the game are just 2 sentence [rest of the fricking owl] pieces of slop. There isn't a SINGLE creative bone left in that entire studio. The guys who worked on elder scrolls online genuinely have more soul in them
Best case scenario is that Elder Scrolls as an IP gets sold to some other studio, or Bethesda needs to do what Nintendo did with Zelda and let the passionate younger devs who aren't out of touch make the game and write the story/quests with Emil resigning
They will never sell the IP. They'll just keep cranking out garbage until it finally loses money. ES6 will lose money if they continue their downward trend in quality.
I like your other idea better. I hope MS forces them to hire a completely new dev team and they start from a new foundation: Source or UE5 or even the fricking Lithtech engine. And new creatives types, people with vision and spirit. We need a MUCH better story in the new Elder Scrolls single player experience.
My biggest worry is they're gonna lose all the nuance
Elder scrolls for example deals with racial themes a lot. I imagine they won't even TOUCH on it or mention it in favour of making their fantasy land diverse and mickey mouse happy. Starfield shows they have no balls. Imagine an elder scrolls in which Dummer don't say n'wah and there's a dialogue saying "well, Dummer and outlanders now get along swimmingly. My ancestors said there used to be strife between them. Imagine that!"
There won't be a single bit of contention in Elder Scrolls 6 worldbuilding.

well that has little to do with the age or creativity of the devs. Thats an executive decision and frequently one made by old white men. If they think they will lose money by not being woke, they will go woke. if they think they will not make maximum profit by being politically incorrect, they will issue a top down order to all devs that games need to be P.C. or ELSE!
One day somebody with brains and balls will do a thorough survey and discover the kind of people who buy lots of video games do spend their money purely on wokeness. Yeah they might be liberal or moderate but they seperate real life from gaming. I thought Saints Row kinda proved that but maybe they need more evidence.
It honestly could. They've made themselves a laughing stock to normies and redditors with starfield, they can't hide behind it just being nerds criticising them now. There's only so long you can pull the same shit and Bethesda have had nearly 20 years to do different
This anon is correct. I played this trashpile in 2014. Honestly, a part of my love for TES died while playing not unlike what the Farce Engorges did to Star Wars.
this indicated a much bigger problem with billion dollar companies destroying their own franchises for a small chance at making profit. I dont blame George for selling Star Wars. He got plenty for it. Disney destroying Star Wars on purpose is a bigger nightmare.
Star wars is a dumb example because George already went back and back ruining what he created with those fricking re-releases and the prequels (no, Idont give a shit about the memes and revisionist history)
I agree he ruined but he also made money on those three turds AND he made money selling the franchise later. He was smart if not talented. Disney needs to make a profit on their 4.5 billion dollar investment and mostly they just shit out garbage. Season 1 of the Mandalorian notwithstanding.
Prequels are beloved because of Time. You realise the Sequels are starting to get looked on fondly already? Online communities are such a fricking joke. Starfield will be in 5 years
Should I start it in current year - 1? >wow

haven't tried any other modern ones but have been considering lotro for a while
shill it to me
It's not that great, but it's comfy, and atleast it's free. If you treat it as a single player RPG, it's bearable, since the game won't let chat in World Chat until you spend an undisclosed amount of time with that character.
Oh man I forgot todd and most Bethesda mains dont have a hand in TES Online
And you know what that says a lot for it actually being good
Why is it the Online is the only place we get to see all the REAL zany races and creatures? Yet the main games literally refuse to show you a sload or an argonian that doesn't have human feet.
I really wish I could like ESO, but combat is so awful. It is by far the biggest issue that I have and it makes the game unplayable for me.
1. It takes a lot of time to kill an enemy, which is boring. Overall, combat is astonishingly unsatisfying.
2. The aforementioned enemies have almost no feedback to your hits which feels disappointing.
3. Nearly all enemies are aggressive and starts chasing you when you are just passing by.
You're scaling to enemy level, which is usually why it takes so long, also gearing in this game is moronic and doesn't actually matter until you hit champ 160, the highest level where scaling pretty much flatlines. Combat also relies on weaving, which is the worst fricking mechanic to exist, but it's the only way for DPS to actually work. And yeah, the enemy aggro is also annoying, especially with how far they chase you, too.
its funny how ESO did everything normalhomosexuals ask of an MMO and the game is shittier because of it >no tab targeting >no focus on cooldowns >no big rotations >no new content invalidating old expansions
the only good thing is no need for a monthly sub to play
that just made the game stale though because some people have used the same sets for years. Tanks used the same shit before and after ascending tide they use that set instead
healers still have to run white tower or whatever that cyro dungeon was called
>the only good thing is no need for a monthly sub to play
yeah, but the sub is still needed to make the game "better" because it gives you the craft bag to store crafting materials, otherwise your bank and backpack are going to be constantly full of shit.
just sell shit that isn't blue or above quality or don't pick it up in the first place since its dirt cheap to buy it when needed
its unironically better not to have a sub so your dungeon pool doesn't get diluted with dlc dungeons
>just sell shit that isn't blue
Nta but when you're into crafting and/or having more than one role, you pretty much need the cbag. Not to mention the access to all DLCs.
>the only good thing is no need for a monthly sub to play
yeah, but the sub is still needed to make the game "better" because it gives you the craft bag to store crafting materials, otherwise your bank and backpack are going to be constantly full of shit.
Kitties do NOT make a game. Not even Stray.
You need fun interactions with other people and in an MMO, real people. ESO just doesn't have it, although I concede its a pretty world.
Theres an ugly little game called Terra Tech. Its about 5 times more fun than ESO and it takes maybe one half of a percent of the hard drive.
the WORST treadmill is Rift. I got tired of that game early on but kept with it for about two years just cuz I liked my guild mates. But when you hit 70 you have to grind for your super weapon then grind a bunch more to upgrade it 6 times then you have to grind for like 3 tiers of armor. Holy frick is that annoying! And it takes years to do it. Finally this April I couldnt take it and told my friends I appreciate them but I just have to leave. Uninstalled and never looked back. God damn I hate that game. Also hate leaving some genuinely good online friends but I can only take so much. Rift is almost dead anyway so its not a big loss.
Khajit are the israelites/gypsies/slavs. Argonians are the african-americans.

I implore anyone who wants to see some actually good TES lore and fun racial stuff to play The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard.
The NPCs are quite colorful and show off their racial uniquenesses really well. There's nothing quite like it in the series. The Argonian bartender is my personal favorite.
I'm sad that Fallout and The Elder Scrolls are now just outsourced GAAS shit. Anyone who wants singleplayer has to deal with Starfield instead. They aren't even letting other studios take a proper crack at them like New Vegas. Other RPGs just don't do the same thing and rarely let you mod them.
