I remember when people were saying Laventon was hinting at an India region because of him saying "Copperajah of my homeland" even though thought his lab has a Galarian Weezing shaped Chimney and he talks like a stereotypical British person.
Laventon is the Pokémon representation of a Briton of Indian descent, probably a first generation migrant, because India was a British colony for many years, after colonization, many people from the upper Indian castes sent their children to study and/or live in England, some staying to live there, just as an example Gandhi had his professional education in England.
Furthermore, SWSH specifies that Copperajah is not originally from Galar.
Does it mean there will be an Indian region? Not really, but it's a nice touch that they reconnected Raichu with Copperajah by being based on an Indian elephant.
Which type would it be, water would be the usual go-to but feels a bit basic. Fire would probably be a fun direction, its nose being a literal flame thrower.
Water is extremely basic but ironically enough we don't have a water elephant yet.
Elephant heads kind of resemble flowers, with the large ears as petals and the trunk/tusks resembling a stigma/anther so I could see them going in that direction also. There's even an elephant's ear plant.

Why doesn't Donphan learn Hydro Pump? Sure it has shit Special Attack but it would make sense thematically. At the bare minimum, it could be niche counter to Physically bulky Water weak pokemon that aren't weak to Ground, Rock or whatever else Donphan has for Physical Attacks. It gets Water Gun in Crystal and ONLY Crystal and you have to breed to get it which is lame for a 40 BP move without any secondary effects. At least Hydro Pump has high base power
I was honestly disappointed by the Gen 9 starter reveal just because we’d already seen a cat and a crocodile starter and a duck isn’t that different from the other bird starters.
