IMO From games literally keep getting better. Elden Ring AND Sekiro are the current peak and better than Bloodborne which is better than DS. But it's precisely because of this ongoing improvement that each game has value.

Souls newbie here who's only played DeS, DS1, BB, and ER
They're all good
I replayed Elden Ring after getting the platinum and doing some invasions in the others and see if ER still retains its charm. It does, I see what it does better (combat, jumping, customization, upgrade mats, scale, etc.) and worse (enemy distribution, music, barebones NG+, lack of covenants, improper consenting invasion implementation, I don't like the quest design with open world, etc.) compared to the rest and the good outshines the bad. With so many weapons, so many ashes, fantastic art style, tons of lore, the secrets, etc., it's currently in 2nd place in my ranking. It's behind Bloodborne, and that is because Old Hunters was very good and I liked trick weapons + damage to body parts against big bosses. But Shadow of the Erdtree is coming, I do think it could shoot this game into first place.
I do like ER but I put far more time in DS1 and DS2 for PVP and other playthroughs. I started DS3 but never bothered finishing it because of how bland it felt.
This is my first Souls-like game, and I'm having a blast. I reached Starscourge Radhan, and I've been rocking the Bloodhoung Fang (love that weapon so much)
The only people that hate Elden Ring are autistic, min-maxing pvp metaslave turbohomosexuals that turn invasions into competitive sweatlord bullshit.
co-op bros and challenge run spergs love elden ring because of all the build variety and map wide co-op.
In terms of pvp it's not bad. I feel like a lot of people here choose to forget what ds3 invasions were like. >Every host had 2 phantoms minimum 3 if they were a fricking shit lord >Blue guys would fly in off the top rope looking to kill you on top of all the phantoms >Purple motherfrickers were always useless and for whatever reason attacked only reds
