And yet no one else has tried. It's basically the perfect formula for any sci-fi setting as well.
Total War:40k soon
We both know they won't include space battles. CA are incompetent and lazy and GW probably divides the wh40k and battleship gothic licenses so that they'll never be in the same game.
>CA
>GW
The Total War license is getting marvel levels of expensive rn meaning that only AAA American media will pick it up and thus ruin it more than it has been ruined by the normie c**ts
>The total war license
Do you mean the WH40k licence? CA doesn't sell the TW licence to companies to make games for them.
looks interesting but cant look at SW games thanks to disney
Holy shit, how have you not played Empire at War? That was during peak SW games time period. Battlefront, Knights of the Old republic and this.
Empire at War and Forces of Corruption is peak Expanded Universe content. Frick a mouse, don't let them prevent you from enjoying this hella good RTS.
The land battles sucked and the galactic conquest (4x mode) AI was awful. I destroyed their fleet once and they never built more ships, I just went from planet to planet playing through those awful land battles.
Also Star Wars sucks as a setting. If you’re over the age of 15 and still like Star Wars what the hell are you doing with your life?
>Also Star Wars sucks as a setting. If you’re over the age of 15 and still like Star Wars what the hell are you doing with your life?
Someone posting on a video game board has no right to call anyone a manchild.
Yeah the land battles were terrible. If Empire at War ever gets a successor, it should have land battle system based around CoH.
Let's not ask too much. The developer of CoH itself can't even do that anymore.
>coh
>good
the only memorable thing about that tactical seesaw is the half assed cover system
i liked the space battles but not the ground battles. the unit selection always felt very weird, i never understood what to use half of the units for. and those missions zann has to do to spread corruption got very annoying after having played them once in the campaign
The land battles suck and the game would be better without them.
I remember than this game had an incredible graphic compared to other 3D strategy game like Star Wars: Commander. Not it look like shit and star wars commander is even more shit.
Everyone shits on the land battles but I really liked the inf meat grinders the offense had to throw themselves into. They really should have given you more advantages for controlling the space above the planet instead of a bombing run every 10 minutes
I'm sure they would have if the movies themselves also had that. Didn't seem to matter in those though.
Space battle is good but the land battle need a full revamp but what kind of rts it should be ?
squad style CoH
I think the ideal is to provide either squad-based warfare or army-based warfare.
Planetary conquests should be long, protracted battles based about maneuvering entire armies rather than attacking a single base.
However, there should be lots of irrelevant planets that are basically just raiding bases (e.g. Hoth or Yavin), and these could be small-scale squad-based battlefields.
The key factor should be the goal of the game: are you portraying a massive war like the Clone Wars or are you portraying a guerilla conflict like the Galactic Civil War?
Large-scale armies are a better fit for the former, squad-based gameplay for the latter.
>Also Empire at War: Remake or Thrawn's Revenge mod
Thrawn's Revenge by far. Remake feels like complete shit.
Space was perfect
Ground battles need to either be like Dawn of War or Men of War, no in-between nonsense that characterized the fledgling divergent RTS genre
Also Empire at War: Remake or Thrawn's Revenge mod
Thrawn's Revenge, despite some of their flaws, the team is determined to make a comprehensive experience.
>suddenly infatry units have unexplained tiers
>ui is suddenly complete and utter shit after years of being perfect as is
>credit counter is almost hidden at the bottom of the fricking screen
>discord
>unit tooltip is broken and doesn’t work anymore so you can’t just hover over the unit icon to figure out what the frick the random flamer squad is there for in a sniper unit
>no tutorial or patchnotes
>DISCORD
Truly a comprehensive 2023 gaming experience
>mod suddenly runs like shit and has constant stuttering especially in land battles
>muh graffix
>DISCORD
All Remake does well is fancy graphics. Runs like shit, plays like shit. Thrawn's Revenge, Fall of the Republic and Awakening of the Rebellion are the GOAT(s)
I prefer BtME1 personally
Imagine being an adult and still buying things with the disney logo attached to it.
>b-b-but it's before disney!
What's the difference? After Revenge of the Sith Lucas would move to making cartoons until he sells the franchise. Let that sink in. This whole fricking thing is for little kids. Time to grow up and stop watching kid shows and buy kids toys and playing kids games. This shit is old and star wars as a franchise was on the downhill by this point.
Hmmm, no I don't think I will
>Buying
I've owned the game since 2008
Wasn't this one of those games where if you play on Easy it's braindead easy but if you play on Medium it's ball-bustingly difficult?
Bringing 40+ stacks of Infantry to do human wave assaults never got old for me. I don't think most people realized that the footsoldiers exist to protect the vehicles not the other way around and you could buy huge stacks for the price of a single cruiser
This thread got me to reinstall it. Decided to do a vanilla FoC campaign run first so that I can get the overpowered faction out of the way before I do the Empire/Rebel campaigns. Which one of those 2 should I do first?
Rebels have an easier early game (because you can almost right away steal the tech for base shields and turbolaser turrets), harder late game. Empire is the opposite because they start slow but once you get Victory-class SD you can steamroll Rebels.
I'm an Empiregay, so I'll always recommend them. As the other anon said, tech is essential for space battles. The Empire wants fancy cruisers to control space with some tartans and broadsides to kill fighters and bombers.
Land is also really easy, imo. I like spamming 2-M tanks and stormtroopers.
>once you get Victory-class SD
I always found the real power spike to be the ISD. Victory-class SDs felt like mildly better Acclamators because they had fewer but better hardpoints.
It's more that by the time you get the Victory-class, the Rebels are completely outmatched unless they bring an absolutely massive fleet
>Start new Thrawn's Revenge game
>Play NR in Dark Empire start, Full Galaxy map
>Kill Palpatine before Dark Empire hits full stride
>Slowly mop up the rest of the galaxy
Is the New Republic supposed to be this boring to play in Thrawn's Revenge? The Imperial Warlord factions are so much more fun to play than this.
Yeah, I like the race to become the most legitimate Imperial force.
