Does nobody make a decent dual-analog controller with six face buttons and four shoulder buttons (With L2/R2 being analog)? I just want it for emulation, so I don't care if the C/Z buttons are just remapped to L/R since AFAIK no system ever had both six face buttons and two shoulder buttons. But I can't find something like this anywhere. All of them either have only one set of shoulder buttons or are flat out a Genesis/Saturn controller. Some like Picrel were apparently made at one point but stopped.
Is there no single controller I can use to emulate dual-analog systems like the PS1/PS2 while also making it viable for six-face-button systems like the Genesis or Saturn?
Retro-Bit is making one, comes out next month. "Sega Saturn Pro" controller.
analog sticks look kind of shitty, though.
Frick, I was about to get a M30 from 8bitdo but now I don't know what to do.
>analog sticks look kind of shitty, though.
Yeah, I'm afraid those will feel like the shitty analog sticks on the Switch's joycons, if not worse.
>analog sticks look kind of shitty, though
They do look like that. Probably, they'll be precise and stuff, but very uncomfortable and slippery. Seems quite a challenge to make a modern controller with 6 face buttons without ending up with a huge brick.
Anyway, I don't actually care for that design. I'd rather have two different controllers and swap between both when needed. In fact, I don't even miss the 6-button layout outside of Capcom fighters.
Yup, I'm thinking, "Kino!"
>retrobit
worthless Chinesium trash, just as bad as 8bitdo.
Shitty marketing thread.
No official controller has what OP wants, so what the frick do you expect people to recommend?
Retrobit and 8bitdo are both known to heavily market on this board. They are not even remotely good controllers either, overhyped cheap trash with mushy and sticky buttons.
Just doing my part.
Proof you're not a schizo?
Wrong
Love me modded m30
Hmm, not a fan of the placement of the analog sticks, or how tiny they are. They look like someone just slapped JoyCon sticks on a Saturn controller, can't imagine playing any game that requires precision on those and not just pushing the analog stick all the way in a direction. Can it work as a wired controller, or is it wireless only and the USB-C port is just for charging? Also it's a little hard to tell, are L2/R2 analog?
Is this literally the only option? I can't believe the market isn't full of such an obvious design.
Yeah, at this point I would consider even junk tier controllers since I can't find anything that has what I want.
If someone for some reason came up to me and asked what the ideal design to make for their controller would be. I would say literally an Xbox360 controller but with six face buttons instead of four. Not looking for something crazy or weird in it's design. Don't even care if the C/Z buttons are just duplicates of L(2)/R(2), that would still work as a controller for emulating 99% of games for just about any system from 3rd gen to 6th gen, only ones it would not work out for would be the very few PS2 games where the pressure sensitive buttons mattered and games that had their own gimmick controller.
I posted a controller that literally is not available anymore, how is that shilling? I honestly just want to find one like that regardless who makes it.
they dropped the ball SO fricking hard on this all we wanted was OP image but no. Gotta frick everything up with the joycon analogues
would they be any better with rubber thumbstick caps? I put ones made for the switch on the Steam Deck to make them less flat. these look like they might have a tiny radius too though
Jesus what a monstroustiy.
>noooo not the small analog sticks
It could have been worse. It could have been the C Nub. Or the dented ball on the Saturn 3D Pad.
Anyway, seems like they want to keep the general profile of a Saturn controller over big sticks. This one
looks a lot less sleek.
the 3d pad's analog lever is better than shitch nipples.
This. As someone who's used an SN30, big sticks just feel in the way grafted onto a controller design not meant for it.
Like I can't even reach the face buttons without rubbing up on the sticks.
Why did they not add analog triggers?, Why even make a dedicated Saturn version if it's just going to be half of a 3d pad. I'd rather just use a regular Saturn controller at that point. Then for PC users, it can't do a wired connection? Why even cheap out on that. Then, yeah, low profile sticks. The best dpad on a controller and you put mobile sticks on it? That's a fricking joke. No one wins on this piece of shit, it's incomplete for everyone
There actually is a niche use case for certain modern games that primarily control with d-pad+buttons but use features of a normal standard controller for UI or something. like fighting games that have a 3D online lobby and use L3/R3 for training mode controls. Like that goofy DoA stick with the thumbsticks attached to it so you don't need to use the toggle switch to move the camera in costume select or photo mode or whatever.
You have to select the right tool for the job. Just use an xbox controller or a dualshock 4 if you prefer, they will serve you well for almost all saturn and genesis games and nintendo games. Youll need 6 face buttons only if you play fighting games and at this point you should have the proper 6 buttons controller or an arcade controller.

I feel like I'm being baited into shilling the nuDuke, but it's probably more of another example of why asking for such a thing is a bad idea.
The comfiest is using an original/good official reproduction controller of the console you're emulating with a usb adapter.
Or just get some good d-pad for 2D games and whatever the frick controller for 3D games. Idk why people need one controller for both. Maybe some Hori one would be good, cause they usually have good d-pads, but I can't speak for the ones with sticks.
I really don't want to have to deal with a dozen different controllers connected to my PC or constantly swapping between them.
The Saitek P990 is a good emulation controller that ticks most of the boxes you're looking for. It was produced in the early 2000s.
>6 face buttons
>4 shoulder buttons
>2 joysticks with L3/R3
Downsides:
>no rumble
>no analog triggers
>D-pad is adequate, not that great
>DirectInput only, it was made before XInput standardized controllers
There is this but it won't be good for PS2 since no stix, and they only make a version that has one single analog stick afaik
made for larpers
Just use any dualshock-style controller and map the two additional buttons to L1 and R1 for 6 button systems.
I've found shoulder buttons are a real pain in the ass for fighting games that require you to press multiple punches/kicks at the same time, that's the only downside for me with that cause it never seems to be easy to do with shoulder buttons
That's why L2 R2 exists, for macroing LP+MP+HP/LK+MK+HK
ggpo never let me do that with the games I played
FC has always had macro binds. Not sure why ggpo wouldn't.
Because GGPO wasn't for gays
why is it so hard for companies to just make a controller with analog triggers, shoulder buttons, 2 sticks and 6 face buttons? it'd literally be the perfect controller.
Accessing these 2 extra face buttons moves your thumb away from the other face buttons. Coincidentally, when holding a controller, 4-6 of your fingers are doing nothing. Why not put buttons under these fingers instead? Thus the paddles/underside buttons were made.
And it makes sense. Can you say why these extra buttons should be face buttons over underside buttons?
thats not the point, it would be nice to just have 1 controller that just WORKS with all my games. i dont like having to use the shoulder buttons when playing saturn/genesis games, its clunky and not how they were made to be played. but at the same time i dont want to have to switch out my controller when i want to play something newer.
