>no dying batteries
>no shitty barely visible gameboy screens
>dont have to mess with old proprietary cables
>doesnt take up space with a bunch of plastic garbage
>can easily trade to yourself for evolutions and dex completion instead of having to buy multiple consoles and cartridges
>speedup so replays arent a chore
Im selling my entire collection except the 3ds/switch games since emulating those is still a pain in the ass

wait, is this not the main consensus?
Obviously but for a big part there's still the major mindset of buying them anyway. In germany this shit is basically combined with second hand stores a free real estate.
There is bound to be a guy who wants the authentic experience flaws and all. There are certain games where it’s only possible/best played on original hardware like motion games or DS games, but for Pokémon this is basically a non argument; playing on an emulator is just better.
>motion games
Many like Warioware Twisted or anything on 3DS that uses the gyro play great on Android phones. My Boy supports gyro and light sensor GBA carts, and runs well on just about anything vaguely current. For DS, Drastic supports rumble and option paks as well as GBA cartridges in slot 2, and similarly runs well on shit phones. 3DS is a bit more demanding on your hardware, but Citra does about everything - though I've got a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and if I turn off the speed limiter it runs at around 850%, so it won't be long until cheapass phones will be able to pull a consistent 100%.
Have not attempted Yuzu/Suyu yet but it should run well. I just haven't yet because I'm mainly using emulators for randomizer nuzlockes and similar, and haven't seen or looked for a randomizer for gen 8 or 9.
>DS games
Yeah I hate trying to play any of them that use touch on a PC. Phone is a very good fit, though I'd still like to see a controller that comfortably clips onto the phone in portrait mode.
I prefer playing handheld games on an actual handheld. Emulating GBC/GBA/DS games is uncomfortable for me.
okay, secondary
How can you trade to yourself with an emulator?
mGba has a feature just for this:
> start a multiplayer screen.
You literally just play like you have 2 game boys in your hand.
Otherwise just use pkhex and give yourself the exclusive Pokémon
>Otherwise just use pkhex and give yourself the exclusive Pokémon
how boring
ill stick with cart
ok do what you want idc
How about when using your phone?
I would prefer to have some physical media for the sake of it but for practical purposes yeah emulation is better and it's not even close
>switch games since emulating those is still a pain in the ass
Do pokemon games STILL emulate like shit? All the switch games I've emulated have run like a dream.
No, OP is lying or has a literal third world potato. When it comes to the Switch, emulation is superior in every aspect except multiplayer.
>can easily trade to yourself for evolutions and dex completion instead of having to buy multiple consoles and cartridges
Why don't you trade with your friends?
I was too poor to afford a link cable. Wifi trading is the reason I will defend Gen IV to the death.
the patrician way is emulating on the 3ds. still can play on a handheld console with all the perks of emulation. I can't play Pokemon games on my PC, it's the type of game you want to play lazing around in bed or watching TV, not glued to your computer.
oh and the switch games are garbage so all worthwhile games can be emulated or pirated on the 3ds anyway
>speedup
take your ADHD medication
buy me some
Yeah just use 400 times as much power to do the same thing
Custom GBA/GBC with IPS backlight mogs all.
