Emulation ruined Pokemon for me because of the speed up button
I'm better at avoiding corners and edges of the map at 1000% soeed than I am at the actual game

No because I don’t use speed up.
dont you feel like you're wasting time
I'm playing pokemon, 75% of the time I'm just looking at the region and imagining what it would be like to be there. Wasting time isn't part of the equation.
it's the overworld of a 2d gamefreak game that i could navigate with my eyes closed not breath of the wild lol
I rather look at 2d Pokemon than botw tbqhwyfamalam
>gooning addict
I'm not judging but you reap what you sow.
missing the point m8. if I'm playing pokemon, it's because I want to play pokemon, not just knock it off a checklist.
>a 2d gamefreak game
That's still somehow better than any other Pokémon game that's come out after gen III
>imagining what it would be like to be there
I actually don't think I ever really did that. to me it's more like i'm seeing what's there as I'm playing the game because it's whatever the devs made that i'm viewing.
If I’m playing any video (especially Pokemon of all things), I don’t really think about wasting time. If I have to rush through something just to enjoy it then I probably don’t enjoy it.
I used to feel this way and only would use 8x speed and rush through the game. My mindset was that I can play more roms/runs if I go faster. More is better right? The problem is that artificially speeding something up doesn't allow you to absorb the moment, there is no moment really. Also, I would need to have the music turned off because it sounds awful sped up. So it's a different experience entirely.
I realized that some of these issues were bothering me so I then switched down to 4x speed and would even play normal speed for gym and rival battles (and actually play with sound for those).
I just recently took the normal speed pill and I am enjoying my runs way more. Just chilling in the game without needing to set arbitrary goals of completing X runs/week or whatever. I still use the speed up function if I need to grind a pokemon or something. Or if I need to backtrack somewhere kinda far or I missed something and have to go back. It's way more comfy to take the runs slower than constantly speeding through.
Honestly, for me it's the complete opposite. I recently got back into pokemon and gaming in general, and playing FireRed on an emulator instead of the physical hardware makes it so much better for me. The speed up button is very convenient, especially when you have to grind a level 13 oddish for example.
> Noooo but you can't speed up to go through the tedious parts of the game faster, you have to play on a gba sp with a barely visible screen like you used to as a child !!!!!!!!
I genuinely don't understand why you guys are so against emulation and speeding up certain parts.
Every single game, pokemon or not, has some tedious mechanic/part, if I want to make it a bit faster it doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the game.
>I genuinely don't understand why you guys are so against emulation
Never said I was against emulation. You’re making up arguments to be confused about.
You didn't read my post. I'm going to play on original hardware, on set mode, without items, because that is fun for me. I don't care how you play.
I purposefully avoid QoL improvements whenever possible like touchscreens, drag and drop, EV-IV training, stat fixing, etc.. to avoid ruining old games. No way I would increase the speed of the game. I hate the QoL that can't be avoided like move effectiveness and nature effects. I still enjoy old game so I haven't been spoiled too much. The only outdated feature I can't get over is saving to change boxes in gen 1 and 2. When I play them again I'll just stop catching Pokemon after filling the first box.
Uh, I only play real games on real hardware
>He didn't overclock
NGMI
Overclock unneeded
Game is fine at its own pace
No, you confuse me with a lesser Delcatty autist, there are several of us it seems
I only play on original cartridges and physical systems
You are literally playing a ROMhack right now though?
>complains about wasting time
>posts on Ganker
feeling like you're wasting time =/= having fun wasting time
>sitting through the same intro battle cutscene for the 100th time in a row or spamming run from wild encounters is somehow peak entertainment
so tell me what exactly tickles your fancy when you watch an hp bar take 10 seconds to deplete in DiaPer. do you enjoy watching loading bars when you download something on your pc too?
>spamming run from wild encounters
Too stupid to buy repels?
thank god pokemon clover added the anti-speed measurement.
smart move
still never gonna play it though
