Use RadminVPN or Softether rather, Hamachi doesn't work on some games for some odd reason.

I do play Portable 3rd with a friend of mine sometimes, it's a blast. I recommend using tunneling software like Radmin and Hamachi
if there are enough anons that can play at consistent times I know how to set up the adhoc server for portable 3rd without hamachi or other bloatware
You should check out HunsterVerse, an active community which play online emulated psp games. Its a bit convoluted setting it up but their website has a great guide. You sohuld check it out.

I actually have it installed, but this is the only option, that I see for "Netplay". When I select "Join" it needs a server address. I'm not sure, what I'm supposed to enter there.
I remember playing using Gens, back in 2006-2007. There if you selected "Netplay" it would open a window, where you could see who is hosting which games on Kaillera servers.

For that I'd actually have to have friends, to contact before I start the game. Is there a possibility to have a lobby, to see all available games, to quickly find random people to play with?

Took me 3 minutes to confirm, that it still indeed exists. Gens emulator -> Netplay. After starting a game I remembered, what pissed me off and why I stopped using Gens - I could not get it to work in 4:3 resolution in full screen mode.

I'm gonna ask OPs question again: would you guys be up to playing any games in coop or vs mode for older systems? Where can we gather, so no one has to share their private data and quickly arrange games? Discord would be good, but it is far from anonymous, isn't it?

how can use adrenaline in online play? do i need to sign in to psn or is t enough to be connected to the interenet?
I've played Dokapon netplay before, idk if things have changed but from what little I remember the virtual wiimote shouldn't be disconnecting.
Also to avoid desyncs you need all the players to have a Wiimote setup and the gamecube controller port be in 1 only.
For save files to sync I think it used to be needed for everyone to have the exact same SD card file but not it might be possible to autosync.
