>what are you favorite Musou
Dynasty: 5
Samurai: 4E
Orochi: 2 but I haven't played 3 yet and haven't heard good things about 4
Spin-off: Persona 5 Strikers
FEW2 that good? I enjoyed the first one but I don't care for Three Houses so was planning on skipping it
The gameplay is way better than DW8XLCE
>no weapon triangle bullshit >peons can actually kill you if you let them surround you (though it's still trivial to just run past them) >enemy officers don't do idiotic slow mo telegraphed attacks >enemy officer health isn't bloated as shit >game has a better balance between not getting killed and killing things fast enough, unlike DW8XLCE which is all about just killing things fast
Not to mention the variety you get with playing 3 characters at a time.
Also, >dat soulful officer select menu
I also thing 8 made some of the characters far too slow, Guan Ping and Xu Huang got some really heavy nerfs going from this to 8, but Huang Gai's boat in 8 was so much better than the anchor
Is WO4 gonna be like the zelda one where you have to use a variety of characters to get further or cann I just take one character and get to endgame shit farming
You can use whoever you want
>What makes wo4 bad exactly? >no significant improvement in the gameplay department and rely a lot on the already existing DW8 + SW4's gameplay >the god weapons (or whatever it's called) are pretty limiting, especially with the vanilla where you can't even choose who to wield which weapon, and most of the god weapons suck anyway >removal of guest characters in vanilla 4, which some then got readded in the Ultimate version >character types hardly matter anymore >lack of contents >stages are reused A LOT. The stage for the final battle alone is reused 4 times through out the story of the vanilla game >blatant favoritism with certain characters in term of story importance >Soulless UI >OST sucks major ass
>Soulless UI
I did enjoy the character select screen where they'd just look at their hands, jump up and down, or Pang De would just look down and stare at Nene's breasts
4 is memorable, but I always thought 3 was the better game to play. Especially on the harder difficulties in XL. 8 is so soulless to me. If they had taken the same steps as 7 in the story and made the stages less linear and static, it'd be a lot better. 7 is a lot better than people give it credit for, despite the copy pasted movesets. On the SW side of things, I've barely played them, but have been looking at Spirit of Sanada, which I've heard nothing but good things about. I haven't played WO3 and 4, but I imagine it's more of the silly stuff in terms of game mechanics being wacky one-shot fests. I typically only played as the Mystics in WO2 to change things up and make it feel like "their" game.
Honestly while I love Basara, all the stages from every game are boring and waste the combat system. I like Koei's large battlefields rather than the arcade corridors of Basara
sengoku basara 4 sumeragi, only in nip but there's a translation guide online for the controls and how combat works (it's a bit different than koei musou)
There's no real fujo homosexualry in the games, that's really just the anime and merchandise
And Basara 3 is also in English
yeah but 3 has like 1/10th of the characters of the sequel
I feel sorry for anyone who got into those for the story. They tell such an abbreviated cliff notes version that you're totally lost without seeing the anime.
I've been quite addicted to it. 20 hours, at the end of chapter 3 and still unlocking new characters. It has some annoyances like no lock on, or the horse spawning 20 meters away from you. Other than that, it's been fun.
May as well ask here: is PC or PS4 Warriors 8 Empires a better choice? The PC version uses the PS3 version's assets, but does performance or anything else make up for that?
>but does performance or anything else make up for that?
Yes, but it's REALLY obvious you're playing an older gen version. If framerate and more enemies on screen matter than go for PC.
>no weapon triangle bullshit >peons can actually kill you if you let them surround you (though it's still trivial to just run past them) >enemy officers don't do idiotic slow mo telegraphed attacks >enemy officer health isn't bloated as shit >game has a better balance between not getting killed and killing things fast enough, unlike DW8XLCE which is all about just killing things fast
Not to mention the variety you get with playing 3 characters at a time.
It's missing a couple outfits and skins that were PS exclusive and some shitty wallpapers. It has everything that's reasonable to expect/has any value.
it's the Ultimate Definitive Edition, how would it be missing anything calling itself that
wo4u has the deepest combat out of all koei musou gaems
>samurai characters have sw4 hyper attacks >dynasty characters have their dw8 moveset spiced up with unique properties (ex, lian shi can "remember" the last special attack she did, then release it at any time during her chain combos) >new changes to the speed/technique/power categories that let them cancel attacks in different ways >plus a magic spell system for more crazy shit >much more fluid character switching during combos >has every character from every orochi game including the guest characters
as someone who seems have played the game, anon. Answer me this simple question no one tells me since game been out for forever.
If you play coop online, both players progress thru story or not? Cause Musou are really uneven on that front.
Literally no one ever answered me this question, including official channels.
>If you play coop online, both players progress thru story or not?
Isn't it a requirement that both players must have cleared that stage beforehand to be able to play coop with each other?
Nope, it's weird uneven Koei/Omega team issue.
With WO3U you could play coop without clearing missions, for DW Gundam Reborn and I think One Piece Warriors 3 you needed to have someone having cleared stage, to play coop with on stage you didn't clear. Yet DW games themselves operate more similarly to WO3U.
I think there were some other variants of said online coop behaviour, they really can't make up their mind on it. Online coop always depends per game to game basis on how it allows to play
What makes wo4 bad exactly?
People seem to fellate wo3 compared to the other games
I enjoyed sw4 and dw8 and wo3 uses that playstyle like you said so cant figure out what it lacks exactly
Haven't played 4, but the rest of the Orochi games let you just stick to the same character if you want.
But "skipping to the endgame shit farming" sounds like cucking yourself out of the fun of a crossover game like this. Switching to new characters as they become available at low levels to keep up the challenge is the best part.
What's the downgrade? Texture stuff, post processing?
Whats the best SB game?
I have a soft spot for 2 Heroes, but 4 Sumeragi is fantastic and most likely the best, with the update patch applied, where you can remove that moronic roulette from the stages.
For all its fault with the stories, DW8 did fanservices with the OST really well. Would have been the most kino of all kinos had the game use the orchestral version of Circuit too.
>Thought guy who visited in June saying he was an Omega Force producer was full of shit. >He actually leaked that they were going to shadow drop Orochi 3 on Steam in a month.
...frick.
Got the boy, not sure how good is in this one but whatever, getting close to full roster. Favorite character so far is the army man with the big tonfas, Taishi I think is his name.
Who are the best characters in WO3U? I've been mainly using the NG characters like Ryu, Ayane, and Rachel because I enjoy the novelty of them but I'm not sure how good the OG SW and DW chars are.
I liked Magoichi Saika, Zhou Tai, Musashi, and a few others in past DW and SW, is everyone in this game basically good or are there just characters that are not worth playing at all
Ryu is good. His musou is SW style and there was something broken about it but it's been a long time so I forgot. Something about being able to have near infinite musou. And Brilliance will make anyone OP.
>I liked Magoichi Saika, Zhou Tai, Musashi
Anon, I...
How soon can I unlock my man Sterkenburg?
You get the stage to unlock him once you have Sun Shangxiang, Chosokabe Motochika and Imagawa Yoshimoto in your roster. SSX is unlocked automatically as you go through the story, Motochika and Yoshimoto are unlocked by clearing a bonus stage that is unlocked by increasing the bond between Liu Shan and Guan Suo. You get Liu Shang automatically as you go through story, but for Guan Suo, you need to increase bond between Bao Sanniang, Himiko and Nene, all of whom are unlocked automatically as you go through the story.
>are there just characters that are not worth playing at all
It's not like the game is so hard that some characters are just not playable at all, but some characters do need so much investment or a change in playstyle that they're not worth it. Magoichi and Musashi belong in that tier unfortunately. Magoichi sucks because hardly any of his attack activates weapon elements, he's one of the few characters that's better playing on horseback. Musashi is in kinda similar boat but isn't as bad, though his C4 is bugged and has such tight timing that it hurts his overall performance.
After trying Magoichi and Musashi after unlocking I felt like they might be lacking, something about their movesets and musuos feel kind of shitty. Zhou Tai feels a little better, but after getting to about Chapter 3 the NG characters just feel OP in comparison to anyone else I've tried.
Ayane seems ridiculous for how fast she is, I even tried Keiji Maeda and he just seemed slow and cumbersome compared to her without a significant increase in damage. Is there a tier list for this game?
I know it's not a difficult game and tiers don't matter at all, but that autistic part of my brain just wants to know who is considered "good,"
>are there just characters that are not worth playing at all
It's not like the game is so hard that some characters are just not playable at all, but some characters do need so much investment or a change in playstyle that they're not worth it. Magoichi and Musashi belong in that tier unfortunately. Magoichi sucks because hardly any of his attack activates weapon elements, he's one of the few characters that's better playing on horseback. I'm downloading it now, you all sound super excited and enthusiastic. Your shilling worked. Last game I played like this had ninjas in bikinis and it was great. Years and years ago, can't even remember what the name of the game was.
It says dynasty warriors 8 is there but it's empires which I assume is something different, like a spin-off? warriors orochi 4 and 3 are there as well as 9 and 9 empires. Other than that there's pirate warriors which i own.
Oh, you meant the Xbox Series and not the OG Xbox? Empires is a spin-off that mix some strategy/territory management to it, it's more of a sandbox game where you create you own characters, put them into a random scenarios and see how they interact with other playable characters. Avoid 9 at all cost, WO4 is worse than WO3 in almost everything except the combat, so if you really want to play the WO series, go with 3 instead, be sure to check if it's the Ultimate version or just the vanilla.
ye it says warriors orochi 3 ultimate, same thumbnail as the OP. if 3 is the better one I'll pick it up if it goes on sale. I've also heard nothing but bad things about 9 so if 8 empires ever goes on sale I'll try that too, i enjoy a bit of strategy.
The only ones I tried previously were DW4 and DW8 but I couldn't get into them due to the bland storytelling and level of challenge (or lack thereof in DW8).
I'm liking this game a lot though, I think the level of challenge is just right (on hard mode, with slightly levelled up chars). I really like the campaign format of having one big story where you save other characters and recruit them, and build up a giant roster of characters that you can freely choose from to take to whatever mission.
Downloaded it and briefly tried it. Pretty lame you only start with 3 characters and one stage. I usually like to try out different characters in free mode first.
Just like other recent Musou games there's a shit zillion troops on the screen, so it's hard to see wtf is going on. I almost prefer the low fps handheld versions because of this.
Nope. >DW4 and DW5 didn't get PSP ports, but they did get games that borrowed assets from them (so basically models, music and a bit of the gameplay, though battles are now separated by smaller stages). >DW6's PSP port is almost the same as the PS2 version (so more story mode and unique movesets). The only difference (apart from shitty graphics, less enemies on screen, etc.) is that Meng Huo is playable, but only in Free Mode (though that's only because Meng Huo was added in DW6 Empires, which came out a couple months earlier). >DW6 Empires is the same as the console versions with one exception: you can unlock DW5 outfits for every character (although all they did was copy it from the older PSP ports, which you can tell as some characters' face change completely like Xu Zhu and Dong Zhuo). >Haven't played it yet, but DW7 Special seems to be the same as DW7 XL but with less shit >Warriors Orochi 1 is the same as console except the cutscenes are replaced with stills and most voice acting is removed. >Warriors Orochi 2 is actually better than console (at least the English version) because it has the DW Strikeforce costumes for some characters and all the new content added in Warriors Orochi Z (new characters, battles, costumes, etc.) which never got released in English >Warriors Orochi 3 Special did have more content than the original release, having Rachel (from Ninja Gaiden) and Seimei Abe as new playable characters, plus a new four-player versus mode. It also has the same DLC as the original (they don't come with the game, though. Easy to find them for free online and download them). However, this version would be superseded by WO3 Hyper, the Wii U version, which added more content (except the 4-player mode). Then that version got superseded by WO3 Ultimate.
Decided to boot up my PS2 with my ancient save file of DW5. Playing Yi Ling on Chaos with a maxed out character, it's brutal and regular enemies constantly interrupt you, but no one-shotting or excess health anything. Probably the hardest thing is basically very little health pickups. Allies do a good job too. Kind of prefer the combat of SW2 though.
kino, but I'm not a fan of most of the designs of DW7
You're in for even more Warriors Orochi. Possibly too much.
Speaking of, what are your favorite musou and why does Koei refuse to port the PS3 games? I just want Empires 7 on PC.

Truth. Back in the day I played DW Gundam 2 and just enjoyed the mechs and screaming anime guys.

Wait, so Orochi 4 Ultimate is not available on Steam?
You have to buy the $60 base game AND the $40 expansion?
Nah it's there, you just have to scroll down the Ultimate expansion page a bit. It's fricking moronic they did it like this though.
what warriors game has the most dynamic battlefields?
DW3 or 4 have more variables with the AI and the least prescripted behavior
Generally the newer the game is, the more railroaded the stages are
So is OW4 ultimate worth pirating or no
Only muso game I played was the one for the VIta
I can't believe they didn't give Goemon his Trumpet from his alternate outfit from Samurai Warriors 1
he's a big guy
In the zelda muso game some of the characters had ranged aoe attacks as normals and it was fun

is there any fanbase more desperate to prove themselves worthy of discussion then Sengoku Basara fans? its pretty sad at this point.
Why the frick did the PC release of DW8 have to be based on the PS3 version?
you could say that about Pirate Warriors too
Not really. At least in PW's case all PS4 added was lighting. DW8 redid entire models.
blah its not much of an upgrade

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/644809-warriors-orochi-3/65485782
The criterias are so strict that some of the lower-tier characters are not very fairly judged, but otherwise it's a pretty accurate tier list imo.

Holy shit that's a lot of requirements. I guess I'll get to doing it though thanks anon

ye it says warriors orochi 3 ultimate, same thumbnail as the OP. if 3 is the better one I'll pick it up if it goes on sale. I've also heard nothing but bad things about 9 so if 8 empires ever goes on sale I'll try that too, i enjoy a bit of strategy.
For me, it's Yoshitsune. Simple as.
why do you homosexual zoomers keep saying simple as?
>Don't the Musou fans value their threads? If so, they wouldn't be letting it reach page 10
Has there been a mod for DW8XL to unlock higher resolutions other than 1080p? Is Gedosato still a thing?
I've never really played a musou before, is this game worth it at all?
The only ones I tried previously were DW4 and DW8 but I couldn't get into them due to the bland storytelling and level of challenge (or lack thereof in DW8).
I'm liking this game a lot though, I think the level of challenge is just right (on hard mode, with slightly levelled up chars). I really like the campaign format of having one big story where you save other characters and recruit them, and build up a giant roster of characters that you can freely choose from to take to whatever mission.
Orochi games were not really meant to be someone's first introduction to Musou. They're cross-over titles from Dynasty and Samurai + guest characters.
my wife
AWOOOOOOGA
Her booba is nerfed in WO4, frick
Downloaded it and briefly tried it. Pretty lame you only start with 3 characters and one stage. I usually like to try out different characters in free mode first.
Just like other recent Musou games there's a shit zillion troops on the screen, so it's hard to see wtf is going on. I almost prefer the low fps handheld versions because of this.
don't older titles actually have definitive versions on psp?
You mean Xbox 360
Also Koei games apparently have very limited printed copies. Finding vanilla SW4 on PS4 is kind of a harder than it should be already in Europe.
>Haven't played it yet, but DW7 Special seems to be the same as DW7 XL but with less shit
>Warriors Orochi 1 is the same as console except the cutscenes are replaced with stills and most voice acting is removed.
>Warriors Orochi 2 is actually better than console (at least the English version) because it has the DW Strikeforce costumes for some characters and all the new content added in Warriors Orochi Z (new characters, battles, costumes, etc.) which never got released in English
>Warriors Orochi 3 Special did have more content than the original release, having Rachel (from Ninja Gaiden) and Seimei Abe as new playable characters, plus a new four-player versus mode.

Frick those horse Black folk.
I know nothing about the 3 kingdoms or the warriors games in general, but I just got this Sima Yi dude and he's kinda neat.
For me, it's Da Ji
They were not messing around when they made her. I really don't wanna buy this game
Does this game have good gameplay or is it mindless button mashing against hordes of enemies
warriors orochi z when
Anyone tried this on the Steam Deck? How does it run if it runs at all.
