No it isn't. Any and all soul in the dub died with DP.
BW onwards was just Natochenny and co. phoning it the frick in, occasionally bringing back 4kids vets who'd actually do a semi-decent job or actually getting competent VAs in only to have the worst direction ever make them give the most boring, uninspired performances ever.
Original Series was great, 4kids direction occasionally sucks and their scripts can be a bit quip-heavy but it had that cheesey 90s/early 2000s charm.
AG was alright, the initial swap over to TCPi was a bit awkward but by DP Sarah Natochenny and Bill Rogers really came into their own as Ash and Brock/the Narrator.
BW was okay at the start but towards the end it felt like everyone was just coasting on through with their performances and XY was just garbage.
Natochenny being unable to do them shonen screams when you've got Ash going ORETACHI WA MOTTO MOTTO TSUYOKU with the energy of a heated kid Goku was ass.
Also the dub changes music which will automatically always lose points.
Obviously it's a dub for kids so you shouldn't expect much, but getting in people like Crispin Freeman, Ray Chase or Alejandro Saab should NOT be resulting in such mediocre performances.

The dub was never good, as evidenced by all these "the dub was good up until (insert point when stopped watching it here)" posts we get. /vp/ in general never liked the dub, which is why the point "most people stopped watching the dub" keeps shifting forward as more newbies show up.
In 10 years we'll have underageb&s waxing nostalgia about how great the dub was in 2024 and b***hing about how soulless it is now, "as evidenced by the fact that most people stopped watching the dub around 2028".

Whenever I turn on an episode with Misty returning her voice sounds fricking terrible. They couldn’t get one of the original VAs or someone who actually sounded similar? It’s really awful and noticeable. I also hated Lillies voice too.
latam dub is cringe
I was alive during the start and watched it til the end with most of the later seasons as background noise in batches while I did other stuff. The 4kids era was the best unironically because of the dialogue and jokes they added. The final seasons you can tell it was basically one to one translations of the Japanese dialogue and it just didn't have the charm of the early seasons. In a weird way they were actually putting in more effort by changing dialogue and adding jokes while the VA were seemingly having more fun with it too.
4kids dub is the comfiest thing in the world, and it's not their fault they were saddled with localizing 100s of Johto episodes where nothing happens. The 4kids dub never got bad, it was the original show that turned into junk.
