This guy fell into the same self-imposed trap as Joseph Anderson in not only refusing to play the game in any way except as a melee-only STR gronk build, but then refusing to actually construct and use such a build properly.
>role playing game >choose your favorite build >game sucks unless you Google guides on how to play that character >can't just role play the game
sounds like the video in OP was right...
STR builds are not gimped at all. STR builds have ranged and consumable options to buff themselves and even if you're some kind of autist who only wants to use a melee weapon, you can just constantly go for stance breaking with jump attacks.
GRANTED the game doesn't SHOW its posture system for some moronic reason, but if you've played the game for any length of time it should be obvious you can stance break even if it's not entirely clear what the threshold is. Even I could guess "Bonk w/ big hammer will stagger more than poke with dagger" and, wouldn't you know it, it does.
>every build should be equally as good and powerful enough to beat all challenges in a game no matter how shit you were at constructing it and how stupid of a build concept it is
when did Ganker get so casual
So you're saying his video is actually worth watching? I was avoiding watching videos of people who play the game on easy mode because playing on easy mode is an easy way to obscure fundamental flaws with the game that might otherwise be apparent if playing as intended.
complained that it was too hard, needed any easy/casual mode, complained that finding where to go for quests was too hard and that it needed a quest log/map markers
The game IS too hard though. The only people who thought otherwise were people who essentially cheated. If you played the game normally, you'd realize how unfair it is, unlike DS3 or Sekiro which were extremely fair no matter what.
>intended
There's no such thing. If using summons wasn't intended, it wouldn't be in the god damn game.
Some of his criticism is valid. Hell, I hate Malenia too. But complaining that you might have to do more than basic stick bonking to beat the hardest boss in such a huge game is a bad criticism.
>playing the game normally is depriving yourself of mechanics in the game because they offend muh sense of honour
Keep crying about the difficulty and telling people who don't hold themselves to arbitrary standards that they never beat the game. I'm sure this mindset will eventually result in the purer appreciation and sense of fun you desire.
How on earth do you build STR incorrectly? >not enough vigor
Opaline tear alone satisfies defensive needs for 90% of the game >not enough vitality
See above >not enough endurance
If you're not leveling the above two, why wouldn't you have enough points to put into end? >not enough strength itself
Even if you mistakenly believe the softcap is 40 like older souls games, you still have 60 when two-handing
because the current meta on youtube is to make long ass videos that people don't actually watch, but instead is on a second monitor being listened to. It's a video hosting site that is turning just audio based.
Zoomers like me that grew up watching youtube have jobs now and use it to listen to videos. I can count on one hand videos creators I sit down and watch.
Because this kind of "reviews" are purely parasocial content at this point. People are not watching a proper critique, but rather are enjoying the "company" of someone they like. Randomly talking in length about a familiar topic is something friends do. This shit is on the same cognitive level as Amouranth streams.
can you give a tldr please? usually videos with titles like these are "oh the game is good don't get me wrong but there's this one moronic thing I didn't like about it and pretend it's a big deal so i can justify my super nuanced take on it"
complained that it was too hard, needed any easy/casual mode, complained that finding where to go for quests was too hard and that it needed a quest log/map markers
>finding where to go for quests and it needed a quest log
I think this is an "objective" problem with Souls games but an obviously intentional decision. They want people to talk about the game like people did in the 90s and 2000s on random playstation forums. Yes, it's spoiling the quests and it's more like reading a walkthrough, but there is a sense of community building. I don't think Souls would be even a quarter as large of a cultural force it is today if Demons Souls was more self contained and easy to fully explore by yourself.
>can't find something >google "game+quest" or "game+best build" >gaming article/yt video gives you exactly what you need, a map and even a link to the next quest
>They want people to talk about the game like people did in the 90s and 2000s on random playstation forums.
Something funny about this was the recent Zelda game leaking and its discussion here. I remember lots of anons saying that it was quite fun to discover stuff "together" in the threads (and how the magic would be gone eventually). Tbqh it's a bit moronic because you could very well explore by yourself without looking for anything online, but it seems that the fact that it exists somehow make the game lose "value".
I'm not sure this applies to Souls games as well, I think it's a different case as you say because the game itself doesn't help you much, but still interesting that From makes use of obscurity to justify a certain sense of wonder and this also makes the game harder for tryharders and explorers compile everything about the game in the first week or so. I think more games should follow this recipe.
I'm not sure if I'm being clear, but it's 100% a thing I saw more than a few times here.
It's funny because everyone clearly understands that this way is better. Games like Cruelty Squad thrive on the ambiguity of content. It's a pretty weak game overall but people love it because it doesn't hold your hand through all that it has to offer. Who the frick would ever figure out how to get the true ending by themselves?
>complained that it was too hard, needed any easy/casual mode, complained that finding where to go for quests was too hard and that it needed a quest log/map markers
So the guy is just a casual homosexual.
>complained that it was too hard, needed any easy/casual mode
I wonder if fromtrannies are really that fricking moronic that they can't properly understand very simple points and therefore have to always stick to le get gid le filtered pavlovian reaction or if it's simply dishonesty

Everyone is a Nazi these days, excepting for the swastika-wearing Ukrainian Nazis, or the Indians that worship Hitler but love Israel, or the Judeo-Nazis that are starving 2 million brown people to death right now. Everyone is a Nazi unless Tony Blinken says they are the good guys.

I didn't said the money grubbing, blood drinking, hand rubbing, funny hat wearing elites were in total control. They think they are tho, and some people buy into their delusions and serve them anyway.
His story criticism completely btfo Hackyazaki and other homosexuals like Vaati and they still haven't recovered.
ER is possibly the worst "plot" and "lore" From has ever made, because this time they weren't even trying. Their previous games at leas tried to have some semblance of something going on, meanwhile ER has no story whatsoever. It's just random bits of text from different versions and rewrites and cuts splattered all over the place that is also contradictory as frick.
And he is 100% right that Open World is nothing special. It's the same Open World like in Ubishit game with copypasted "points of interest", but they just weren't as obnoxious with screen and map markers.
It's not a review, it's a critique. Reviews are meant to be on the shorter side and relatively spoiler free for people to look at and let decide if they're going to buy a game or not. Critiques are in-depth dissections of the positives and negatives of the game, and usually analyzing the ins and outs of the whole thing. These are for people who already finished the game and want to see what other people think of the game on an in-depth level, something that a short review can't offer. Like say for example if you wanted to know what someone thought of this one specific part of this one specific area, an in-depth critique might include that whereas a review would omit it completely.
no video game youtuber has more than 10 minutes of critique worth listening to. I will never understand zoomers trying to appear academic with video games.
Elden Ring is easily FROM's magnum opus.
It manages to pefectly take the best mechanics from DS1, DS2, DS3 and Sekiro and combine them seamlessly into a far bigger thing than the any of these games individually. >DS1: best world and level design, lore >DS2: strong, fun and varied spells and miracles, while not being insanely overpowered, solid PvP >DS3: multi phase bosses with huge move sets, weapon arts and the ability to customize them >Sekiro: jumping, stealth and posture breaks
It also balances all these mechanics instead of having something that's clearly the best in every situation like OP poise+magic in DS1, OP magic+rapiers in DS2 and OP rollspam+straightswords in DS3.
The build variety and styles of play are unparalelled compared to the previous games, and you can mix and match any of them: >Big/STR weapons do huge stance damage, which stacks with charged attacks and guard counters, making you play more methodically trying to go for those huge hits and posture breaks even on bosses >Small/DEX weapons do lots raw DPS but little stance break, encouraging more aggressive play like twin weapons that keeps you in front all the time and they're also very good at applying status effects >FTH builds have access to all damage types via different miracle schools, but they rely on slower, charged spells with shorter range and high FP uses, also they have the best body buffs >INT has the best long-range damage/FP output and some really good melee spells as well as gimmick spells like delayed glintblade projectiles, rocks sling and invisible projectiles but 95% of spells only one damage type
Pretty fair video
>crops the low views
lmao
are you blind
He left in the high views but cropped out the low views. What are you not getting?
What?

It's not even that complicated.

This, STR chads can literally facetrade with bosses with the right weapon arts.

Elden Ring released on Feb 22 2022, anon. You might want to check your memory. This is too recent for you to be having memory problems.
That’s fricking spooky anon
He actually thinks that Elden Ring is a great game, you morons should try watching the video for at least 10 minutes before falling for OP's bait.
>for at least 10 minutes
That should be the maximum length of these kind of white noise reviews.
That’s a good channel, and he brings up some good points even though I liked the game. The bosses were pretty bullshit towards the end I will admit.
I only watch Our king video synthetic man and he said its a mid trash game also armoredcore is 6/10 mid soulstrash

whats so disappointing? dark souls series is garbage
I enjoyed exploring ER but the combat was ass. I get Sekiro was being developed in parallel but still, it was just DS4.

why do people make game review videos longer than 10 minutes? why do people watch them? am I the only sane person? am I the only real person?
