Mythicals as a whole are a pretty shit idea that rely on FOMO. This is why it's always morally correct to inject Mythical Pokemon.
I remember the first Pokemon event in the US. It was at a mall, and you had to wait in line forever, but could play 6v6 against a Nintendo rep. They were not giving out Mew at that time, but the rep did use Mew and Mewtwo. I did get a Celebi from a Nintendo Power contest though, you had to mail them a postcard to enter, and then if you were one of the winners you'd have to mail in your cartridge, then they mail it back with Celebi on it. I'll take the code route from now on thank you.

Japanese Emerald Mews are legitimate. Don't ask me why only those ones can be shiny. Probably is the same answer as to why Emerald's RNG seed is 0. Developer frickups.
It transfers just fine. (Not that Poke Transfer is a good source; legitimate shiny Jirachis from bonus discs couldn't transfer because again, developers are frickheads, and didn't fix the code until 2014 Jirachi events.)
Mixing records won't give you the Old Sea Map. That only works with the Eon Ticket, and only works with someone who scanned a physical Eon Ticket card or dot code themselves, you can't get one by mixing records with someone who mixed records to get one.
The only "legit" Mew you can get in English outside of giveaways is the one from My Pokemon Ranch, and that still requires you to hack a Wii to load the game's rom, since Wii's eshop is long dead.

This is a problem with Mythicals in general. The idea is that they're rare, so rare that most people doubt they even exist. But instead of being well-hidden in the game itself, they're just handed to us for free.
Not sure if anyone cares but this is the first (and probably only) time they are giving you a Mew that could have your own OT. The only time I recall you having your own mew with your own OT is the original treasure island cartridge and the pokemon GO event that you had to pay for and grind your ass off to get it (this is the only time you could get a shiny Mew with your OT). Even the shiny Glitch with Red and Blue the OT is GF. Thought that was interesting to mention
