moron post
Wrong, that would be IVs
SPBP, but it comes to finding Pokémon, honey trees are up in the top 5 worst, #1 goes to limited time event Pokémon.
I'll do you four better
>exclusive to buying a $50 toy
>exclusive to playing a phone game
>exclusive to playing a spinoff game
>exclusive to purchasing another game on the same system
>exclusive to paying a certain amount of money on a phone game within a limited window of time
Those are all worse than honey trees (mythicals in general is just the worst), but I think some of those overlap, like points 3 and 4. I assume you're telling the difference between Channel EU Jirachi and BDSP Jirachi?
Why were they so greedy when it came to distributing Jirachi in gen 3?
At least with stuff tied to other games, you can always redownload. Limited time stuff just goes away.
IVs are DVs with twice the range though.
>honey trees
>swarms
>pokeradar
>dual slot
all moronic gimmick cancer that ruined this game
don't forget the great marsh randomly locking out pokemon each day when it already has piss poor variety to begin with
>Dual slot
Nah it was pure soul
I don't get the hate for this one, the odds of getting a munchlax are stupid but the mechanic itself isn't meaningfully different from waiting for day/night or a different type of weather
The spiritomb shit is the worst encounter method in the series, either that or feebas
Feebas is egregious especially since several of its dex entries talk about it being common but overlooked because it's weak and ugly.
>the mechanic itself isn't meaningfully different from waiting for day/night or a different type of weather
You can catch many Pokemon once you reach a condition like that.
You get 1 Pokemon per tree honey is applied to, giving you a set limit per day.
>The spiritomb shit is the worst encounter method in the series
How is it any worse than a trade evo?
>hey, wanna do a tradeback so I can evolve my kadabra?
>sure thing
>hey, wanna leave and reenter my underground for the next 20 minutes?
>no
Or you could play normally instead of autistically doing that. In which case it is literally zero extra effort.
if you aren't doing that I don't understand how they're even comparable
They're comparable because all it takes is one other person. Saying spiritomb is one of the worst encounter methods is just dumb. It's not that complicated.
Not to mention that spiritomb actually has a story and lore behind its encounter method, automatically making it better than most other harder to acquire pokemon.
>NOOOO YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO WORK TO GET THE DIFFERENT BUG POKEMON!!
>work
dude i pressed a then sat the DS down for 6 hours while fapping to floatzel ass this shit hard
>Zoomertards are that lazy and want things given to them easily
So that's why the newer gens give you everything I guess
The most lazy thing you can do is slather honey and wait you literally don't need to touch the game.
This is why pokemon is never going back to the way it was during the DS era. Different target audience with zero attention span.
Getting a gholdengo in sv is much harder than a munchlax, yet it's actually sort of fun and actually involves playing the game. Honey trees are just lazy bullshit
Munchlax is just pure tedium
Gholdengo is the fugliest Pokemon out there so that makes whatever you've just said irrelevant
you can literally get a full night's sleep while waiting for a honey tree
there is literally nothing lazier than pressing A to on a honey tree to get a free pokemon then taking a nap instead of playing the game
pokemon sleep unironically takes more effort than honey trees
>fapping to floatzel ass
Hi, Mr. Syuro!
Who the frick wants to work for fricking burmy and combee?
Even Munchlax isn't worth it when Snorlax is readily available in other games.
>work
putting honey on a tree and waiting a day isn’t work. that’s some stupid mobile or MMO shit where you need to login every day for dailies
Evasion boosting is the worst mechanic it's uncompetitive bullshit
that's not breeding
>Not trading the honey tree exclusive from HGSS (all of them are available in those game except maybe Munchlax but you can breed Snorlax for one)
I FRICKING LOVE HONEY TREES!!! I LOVE SLATHERING HONEY ON A TREE AND THEN RETURNING 6-24 HOURS LATER TO CHECK IT FOR POKEMON!!! IT'S IMMERSIVE AND REALISTIC!!! IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A REAL NATURE RANGER TRYING TO LURE IN RARE WILD BEASTS!!! AND I LOVE THE WAY IT PERFECTLY MESHES WITH THE NATURAL PACING OF THE GAME WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE USE OF THE OTHER TIME BASED MECHANICS!!! IT PERFECTLY COMPLEMENTS A DAILY INCREMENTAL PROGRESS TYPE PLAYSTYLE THAT I ALREADY SETTLE INTO NATURALLY DUE TO HAVING A BUSY LIFE!!! RAAAAAAAH I LOVE THIS MECHANIC!!!!!
>...he typed with his sticky honey-drenched hands, barely able to see the screen due to the tears of denial copiously gushing from his red eyes, moments before he returned to his favorite dead tree to collect another level 5 male Combee
>"Come back later" mechanic.
>For a game that's linear and has a giant fricking annoying mountain cutting the region in half.
Truly, a genius mechanic.
Guys, how long does the honey have affect on the trees? I dumbed some on one of the trees, returned to it weeks later but got nothing
The Pokemon appears after 6 hours and will disappear after 24.
Apparently I once told my mother about this mechanic when I was a kid and she misunderstood it as "spreading honey on the Pokémon's ass".
To this day, whenever she wants to belittle videogames and me playing them, she pokes fun at me for "spreading honey on Pokémons' asses".
have you tried telling her she's an idiot?
that's kinda hot
She wants to frick
That should have been the original mechanic.
My mother said Pokemon was a disgusting game when I told her about the breeding mechanic.
I don't know if you are right since I stopped playing after plat, but you can't be far off.
Personally I love all the little daily activities that sync with real time.
That's why gen 2 & 4 are the best gens to me.
It adds an Animal Crossing style life simulation element.
Pokemon games stopped feeling alive and immersive when they stopped including these kind of things.
gendered pokemon
sovl
That very honey tree is where I found this little guy.
I remember now, Munchlax was probably the best thing you could get out of these.
>can only appear on 4 random trees per save file
>zero in game indication which trees these are
>on those trees it is a 1% encounter
yeah, could, if the planets aligned
Honey trees waste an arbitrary amount of time and are largely non-deterministic. HGSS (and even base DP) has a ton of things that take time, but as long as you know what you're doing most of them are fine. Arguably the worst are Swarms, since they're both completely random and non-deterministic even when they happen, but since there's nothing you can do to effect them AND swarming Pokemon usually have a good appearance rate it's less of a problem and more of a nice surprise. As it stands, honey trees are just worse Headbutt trees and make me appreciate them a lot more.
