Everything TPCi does in animated form is pure marketing: the dubbing is shit and worse than what 4Kids did in the late 90s-early 00s because consoomers will buy anything Pokemon shits out, basically. This also explains why the games have gotten worse, despite higher sales than ever. No need to try when no standards for quality exist, right?
I think it's just cringy, tbh, but it's forgettable.
No one sane gives a crap about whether or not she's mixed race or trans stuff, that's normal, what isn't is how bland this is and the animation is rather Disney ripoff-ish.
The thing is anon, they explicitly drag out the mixed race/trans/whatever shit to deflect from any criticism of their product. We've seen this thousands of times, time and again. Its not even pushing a political agenda at this point its just using public perception of a status quo as a crude shield. >What? They hate my art style and think its bland and boring??? >THEY'RE JUST EVIL NAZI RACISTS CANCEL THEM ON TWITTER REEEEEEEE
etc etc etc.
Come on now.
I get what you mean, yeah, special snowflakes who can't take criticism and will deflect it to SJW'ing: these people give sane people with normal politics a bad name and actually get REAL minorities and trans people in danger with this crap (it's usual affluent college white women in charge doing this, oddly).
The autists at TPCi have awful taste in voice acting and music, look at their Anime dub.
I like how theyre painting this picture that playing the Pokémon you like is perfectly competitive in the face of Meta decks.
If it really was like that then maybe I'd still be playing.
And then he wins.
Have you not seen any level of anime. Hero loses then come back stronger due to plot. Or a montage of them lifting a rock or some shit.
The anime is essentially just a martial arts anime where the weaker party could potentially outwit the opponent so I'm open to suspending my disbelief.
The TCG playing in this cartoon is the same cold numbers we are familiar with, she only gets away with it because they conveniently hide those numbers in favour of feverdreams the protag is thinking up. No way in hell do her outdated powercrept-to-hell-and-back cards hold a candle to even the weakest meta deck today.
But I guess they cant exactly come up with a way where Girl-Kaiba over here uses a weaker strategy out of hubris or something that the protag can then exploit, let alone one that fits into 3 minutes of matchtime.
They don't have to play by the rules. The cards don't even have to be real cards as long as they say they can win, then they win. Isn't there a whole thing about yugi cheating in the early seasons?

A child can easily simulate having their favorite win in the games just by over leveling. You're SOL in the TCG though. Just pray your favorite has a viable card.

They like Pokemon GO sort of but if you ever sit them down to play the real games they get bored really quick in my experience. I've never played more than one round of Stadium with my younger cousins let alone gotten to show off all the party games.
My nephew likes Unite but he jumped straight from the main games being too complicated for him when he was younger, to thinking they were too slow and boring in a very short time.
He's 6 and he could barely get into S/V because he got bored with all the hand holding at the start. Which really has me asking who the frick it's for? By the time a kid can read at a decent enough speed for Pokemon they already think the tutorial shit is boring and insulting.

Japanese kids probably like it still I bet, pokemania never really died over there from what I've heard. I'd love to see a video where a 10 year old from each country talks about Pokemon and the Japanese kid is the only autist that actually plays the games.
>moron who hasn't interacted with a child since he was one is now an authority on what kids like
I like how when new Pokemon games break sales records, it's because of dumb children, but when discussing why new pokemon stuff is so easy, no kids play pokemon. You homosexuals are so transparent and lazy it hurts.
Kids have no money, it's the dumb millenial parents who break these sales records, the kids don't actually finish their games, they just play a couple of hours and get bored and go back to fortnite and amongus.
Why dont they actually say what's happening in the card games? They just kind of skip over it all. Do they think it's too complicated? Yugioh animes say everything thats happening and why
Pokemon TCG is far too simplistic to make a yugioh style play by play. They just show pivotal moments relevant to the child's development. The board states are accurate so you can just have a glimpse and know exactly what has happened.
They went over the rules in the first episode. Young children play with their own made up rules anyway. One thing that confused me about the show is that based on the style and content the kids who it's catering to don't even know how to read properly. Kids who can understand how to play this game would have outgrown this show.
He said everything you need to know to start playing the game. He did the same official demo they have a 3 minute video for in a few seconds. That's it, that how you play pokemon TCG, the only part that needs explanation is setting up the board and the main win condition.

no hes skimming a lot of necessary details. Like he just says to KO your opponents pokemon by attacking them but nothing about how. He doesnt say how to know what energies to use or basically what any of the info on the cards mean
Yeah even in this episode alone they only had Ava talk like that once right at the end. It would have been great to hear the opponent do it too instead of making some moronic speech about weaknesses even though she's not using anything super effective against her.
TCH, I CAN'T KILL YOUR GLOOM IN ONE SHOT. NO MATTER, I UTILIZE MISMAGIUS LV.X'S POKE-POWER: *MAGICAL RETURN* TO BRING BACK PANIC MASK TO MY HAND, ALLOWING ME TO IMMEDIATELY REAPPLY IT TO MISMAGIUS LV.X. WITH THIS CARD IN PLAY THE DAMAGE FROM YOUR MONSTERS' ATTACKS ARE USELESS WHILE THEIR HP IS AT 40 OR LOWER. AND GUESS HOW MUCH YOUR PATHETIC GLOOM IS GOING TO BE AT AFTER I ATTACK. GO, *DARKNESS MAGIC ATTACK*!
It would have been so fricking easy, they bothered to make the games in this more accurate to real life than Yu-Gi-Oh ever was but they chose to ignore talking about it.
>Anon NEEDS the characters to go into extreme detail about every single detail of their cards or else he can't connect with it

It's funny he's saying they should focus on the actual characters and plot more because that's exactly why the show dropped off after GX.
>let's waste the viewer's time going over every single nuance of these cards effects when we could instead be alot more brief and concise >wtf why do people say they hate our characters and plot? they MUST be autists
>why would anyone care about what's actually happening in a card game inside a cartoon about playing card games? >just handwave it over, we need to shill the Black person boy more and the moron dad because, because we just should okay?!
The only way anyone could even tell what was going on in this episode would be by looking them up based on card art alone since all the English text is blurred out for some moronic reason. The game is consistently played but it's for some reason not being focused on.
That kind of stuff in media for children tends to be heavily regulated in North America, that's why the dub of yugioh edits the cards to look less realistic; to avoid any potential hassle with product placement laws.

Uhhh Anon have you talked to a doctor lately? I think you might need to have something checked out
I dont understand how you can be invested in the outcome of the game you don't know whats happening in the game
I like playing Expanded, but Standard has the exact same problem as Yugioh where it's blatantly obvious only two or three decks are remotely usable at any given time. At least we actually have these separate formats instead of one giant ban fueled mosh pit.
>Staring Oddish
Kino. Oddish is adorable. A friend and I played Pokémon rumble to completion and I beat Mewtwo with Oddish by running around the arena shooting bullet seeds from a distance.
Man that's pretty fast for a sequel. They're really pushing this series out fast. Do you guys think they're going to print a version of the Oddish line that's actually good soon to tie into this? All of the cards she uses are real except for those ones and they've been pretty consistent with the rules and nuances of play even if they're not describing any of it, like Panic Mask putting her Gloom into a corner and the inclusion of a one-off Absol to mess with meta decks that prefer basic cards.
Cool edgy characters summoning cool edgy monsters. Konami doesn't get this and reboot the series to mundane kids summoning clean robots. The 90s American grit is the main appeal of Yu-Gi-Oh at is beginning.
Yugioh anime have surprisingly good storylines. The first series had an Egyptian pharaoh learning about his past by fighting people trying to take his powers, the second series had a happy-go-lucky kid slowly descend into madness because of a card, and the third had social inequality fought on bikes. After that it wasn't as good but perfectly watchable.
They built an affluent city with the promise of connecting it to the ghetto with a bridge. They never finished the bridge and left the ghetto to rot and be infested with gangs while the affluent city flourished. The main characters have their own little gang and one of the main antagonists early on was one of their members who made it big in the main spectator sport which is dueling cards at max speed on bikes. If you lose you can die. The little gang has to fight their way to the tournament in the city and win that to connect both cities. The real bad guy is harvesting the energy created during bike duels to power the rich city and get powerful. The rich are living off the dreams and efforts of the poor. 5D's is a wild ride and it has a very sexy girl they had to censor. Definitely worth a watch and one of the heights of Yugioh.
5D's is definitely the best one. I feel like we knew we were in for a good time when the main character almost immediately goes through an arc of getting thrown in prison, getting digitally scarred, then having to break out and avoid agents.
So that yellow mark on his face is not there at the start of the series. When criminals are arrested, they get a unique yellow marker burned into their skin. Works as a way to look up their criminal record, to identify them, and as a lifetime visible stigma.
>all main characters are black so they are written as perfect wholesome humans >MC suddenly a TCG pro beating everyone with plot armor
This could have been better but it's TCP being shit as usual
>I will utterly destroy you and shove your worthless oddish so far up your ass you’ll choke on it! I WILL END YOU! >tee hee hee, You sure whooped my tushie. That was lots of fun! Good Game bestie!

But they don't even really say the rules. Wouldn't that help get kids into it? I assume that's the goal of the series
Yeah, they should explain the rules and show how the game works.
They went over the rules in the first episode. Young children play with their own made up rules anyway. One thing that confused me about the show is that based on the style and content the kids who it's catering to don't even know how to read properly. Kids who can understand how to play this game would have outgrown this show.
They didn't, really. The nig said everything on 500% speed in 5 seconds and asked, got it? They didn't explain shit.
NEXT I PLAY PROFESSORS RESEARCH
THIS LETS ME DRAW 7 CARDS FROM MY DECK
Yugioh painstakingly announcing every move they make and every effect of the cards is EASILY the worst part of the show
That's like the best part of the show you autist.
>Anon NEEDS the characters to go into extreme detail about every single detail of their cards or else he can't connect with it
Uhhh Anon have you talked to a doctor lately? I think you might need to have something checked out
Your ad hominem argument does nothing other than hinder your own appearance in the thread.
>Lets shill a card game but never mention what such cards do!
>let's waste the viewer's time going over every single nuance of these cards effects when we could instead be alot more brief and concise
>wtf why do people say they hate our characters and plot? they MUST be autists
People absolutely loved that shit back in the day you dumbass. It's what most kids moved on to because it was literally so cool it made Pokemon look like a kiddie game.
Except everybody loves yu gi oh the first series. Stupid b***h.
It's funny he's saying they should focus on the actual characters and plot more because that's exactly why the show dropped off after GX.
The Card Game is too slow for a tv show format
you guys do realize these are 10 mins, right?
>why would anyone care about what's actually happening in a card game inside a cartoon about playing card games?
>just handwave it over, we need to shill the Black person boy more and the moron dad because, because we just should okay?!
They're doing the same thing in the Japanese version tho. Probably just laziness I bet.
Looks like it's just made for US audiences first and then not modified at all for the dub; the cards are using the english design.
You didn't need to point that out, it's still very obvious all the cards have English text because you can still read most of them. Like I said, pure laziness. Just do it once and then throw a janky filter on it.
>actual autism.
who fricking cares what the cards look like?
Its the best part and what can make it so intense
I dont understand how you can be invested in the outcome of the game you don't know whats happening in the game
Holy shit, it feels like the setting is South Africa instead of the US lmao
>scared of Duskull
>not scared of the huge ghost tree
>evil spirit that hunts children's souls
>big friendly tree
The little girl clearly knows more about pokemon than you.
Whatever, nerd
Ah, could be
I bought it because shes a grass trainer
Nobody plays tcg, people just collect the cards ar cards and FA especially in Japan
It's a shame because Pokemon's TCG is more fun and balanced than the gimmicky shitfest Yu-Gi-Oh has devolved into
I like playing Expanded, but Standard has the exact same problem as Yugioh where it's blatantly obvious only two or three decks are remotely usable at any given time.
No MARK, no watch. Simple as
Grubhub artstyle
Eva really stole that plush. You can never trust browns.
TPCi making more garbage material and dubs, as usual.
Imagine shilling this hard for calarts garbage.
This isn't even CalArts (which isn't real thing by the way)
>(which isn't real thing by the way)
Go back
That doesn't look anything like PttP.
>PttP
What?
>path to the peak
The topic of the thread kek
Oh yeah, no "PttP" looks not 100% EXACTLY like the usual CalArts, but it's similar
Those are edited you fricking moron
You're both blind and stupid, you're blupid!
Reminder that a based Bollivian has already drawn her getting a correction.
Confession :
I never understood the appeal of cardgame animes such as YuGiOh!
I liked the art though
Cool edgy characters summoning cool edgy monsters. Konami doesn't get this and reboot the series to mundane kids summoning clean robots. The 90s American grit is the main appeal of Yu-Gi-Oh at is beginning.
same
Yugioh anime have surprisingly good storylines. The first series had an Egyptian pharaoh learning about his past by fighting people trying to take his powers, the second series had a happy-go-lucky kid slowly descend into madness because of a card, and the third had social inequality fought on bikes. After that it wasn't as good but perfectly watchable.
>social inequality fought on bikes.
Please elaborate
I see. So why would anyone want to connect the rich city with the poor ghettos?
Because they were once the same city until an earthquake separated them
Oh. Well that's tragic.
5D's is definitely the best one. I feel like we knew we were in for a good time when the main character almost immediately goes through an arc of getting thrown in prison, getting digitally scarred, then having to break out and avoid agents.
>digitally scarred
What does that even mean?
So that yellow mark on his face is not there at the start of the series. When criminals are arrested, they get a unique yellow marker burned into their skin. Works as a way to look up their criminal record, to identify them, and as a lifetime visible stigma.
I see. Damn. Thanks man
>all main characters are black so they are written as perfect wholesome humans
>MC suddenly a TCG pro beating everyone with plot armor
This could have been better but it's TCP being shit as usual
I now love Oddish
HOT
>I will utterly destroy you and shove your worthless oddish so far up your ass you’ll choke on it! I WILL END YOU!
>tee hee hee, You sure whooped my tushie. That was lots of fun! Good Game bestie!
Just…wut?
It's just a common trope. Even children understand it.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DefeatMeansFriendship
I'm familiar with the trope, but it just seemed especially jarring here, She doesn't even seem like the same character at the end.
based i hope they make more of these, frick tranime style
