If you're not willing to take the time to Mod NV to it's best then that's your loss

I've finished this game 5 times vanilla.

Same I've done like 3 playthroughs never installed a single mod for nv besides a sprint one just so I could see how uncanny it felt. People who needs mods to enjoy games are fricking stupid

        >People who needs mods to enjoy games are fricking stupid
This. Only mods I ever install are ones that fix major compatibility issues for old games on new systems or ones that restore regionally cut content like licensed songs.
        Modding is moronic otherwise.

good posts, the only reason to install any mod except for performance and bug fixes is when you've really done everything there is to do in the game and experienced every build and so on. why tweak the game when you never got so far as to know what you feel needs tweaking?

The game has nothing to do with your mental illness!

Because they want to be popular, they do this shit with anything with a modicum of popularity.

How long even is Viva New Vegas anyway? I've never used it

Vegas is fine without mods. The only thing I like to add because I rarely/never use VATS is a proper crosshair that changes based on weapon type and accuracy

      >Vegas is fine without mods.
It's unstable and there are several perks that literally do nothing at all. The latter is such a glaring issue that I'm genuinely baffled that it hasn't been patched.

Why bother? Bethesda let fans, aka unpaid slaves, do the work. Stupid company, stupid community that simply goes along with it.

I mean, Fallout 3/4 don't have any perks that straight up don't work as far as I know. Bethesda games are more often just dogshit on stability, perks work.

it baffles me, bethesda could get so rich by just updating all their games from morrowind and onwards from time to time and let another studio make spin-off single player fallout and elder scrolls games every five years or something

        >It's unstable
It has crashed fewer times without mods than Skyrim has with the unofficial patch, New Vegas is the only game I never had to worry about quests getting stuck or npcs disappearing, Fallout 4 and to a lesser extent Skyrim feel like they're glued together with spit.
Perks not working is pretty shitty but I never would have guessed if not for the wiki since it's only a couple of niche ones which you can get for free if you exploit Goodsprings anyway.

The only essential mods are the fixes/fan patches, and that is like 4-5 mods if you count 4gb patcher.
Most mods unironically suck for NV, especially the ones that add quests and/or new lands.

the only essential mod is 4gb patcher. literally every other mod is completely optional, and imo most of the popular ones are complete dogshit that only make the game worse.

I've come to the point where I fail to get through it. I really just can't be bothered anymore, every little detail/choice/option is burned into my head down to all the weird workarounds and sequence-order you need to do to get around glitches in vanilla. It doesn't feel like I'm playing a game anymore, it feels like I'm just browsing through and arranging the choices for the character idea I dreamed up.

That's because Obsidian didn't make a videogame, they made a choose your own adventure book and called it an RPG.

I think it's more that it's just too old now to be adapted for anything beyond its story elements. Back in the day I did hardcore mods to have some fun survival shit going on, but now their system is so antiquated that you should really just play something more modern to fill that niche, it's too clunky and shoddy to match the experiences you can get now. I love the frick out of New Vegas but I can't play it for a few years.

Same. Playing through TTW now and getting stuck while picking my SPECIALs, makings mental notes of all the ways to increase them and how.

How does bobblehead/Almost Perfect cheese in Fallout 3 work in TTW? If you get all the benefits of Fallout 3, just be a constant book addict prioritizing their pick up with the comprehension perk and you'll get to straight 100s, then Almost Perfect and all the bobbleheads.

          Anonymous

SPECIAL bobbleheads all give unique bonuses, they no longer add a point each. You can still get a full 10 on every stat using the implants from New Vegas. Also ant sight/might and the lucky 8 ball all increase specials like they did in Fallout 3.

Oh and you definitely don't need the comprehension perk or even skill books to reach 100 in every skill in TTW. 50 level limit + almost perfect means you're basically guaranteed to reach 100 naturally.

If your game is centered on modding, it is transcore, akin to modding your own body because you want to be what you feel is the truest, highest quality you.

    NVSE
    JSawyer's

Night vision and flashlight mods plus lighting and darker nights is pretty legit. Some of the vaults are pretty fun when you can't see frick all. Did a survival run with the Kerberos armour and low lockpick and computer, just having to sneak and brute force stuff was pretty fun. Obviously some realism mods so armour wasn't too OP.

I played NV probbaly about 4 times vanilla w/o mods
mods certainly help bbut arent necessary. That being said here's my recs
    >4gb patch
    >NVSE
    >sprint mod
    >weapon mesh fix
    >smooth aiming animation
    >startup DLC message deleter
    >whatever the modern NVAC equivalent is
I'd also reccomend checking out DUST for a cool overhaul after you've played through the game a couple times or if you just get broed but that has its own set of mods you should also probably install along with it
