2070s chad here. i'm hoping to get a 4070 at a reasonable msrp price this year. the 2070s is still really good so i'll probably resell it. the new games of 2023 are probably going to kill my fps if i try to play in 4k

in simple moron terms it means you cant mine ethereum on gpus anymore.
Proof of Work = You use your computing power (GPU) to "mine" tokens. The higher your computing power, the more tokens you receive.
That's why graphics cards are impossible to find any time the price of Ether goes up, because miners are trying to get their hands on as many GPUs as possible to make as much money as possible. It's basically unlimited demand.
Proof of Stake = You use the tokens you already own to generate even more tokens. You basically lock your asset for, let's say, six months: after this period has passed, you get all your original tokens back + an additional %.
