Do I really have to start the maze at the first floor everytime I want to go? Is there any way to teleport to the second floor in this game?
Do I really have to start the maze at the first floor everytime I want to go? Is there any way to teleport to the second floor in this game?
Yes. No. Get used to it gayet there's only 3 floors per dungeon when it's usually 4 or 5.
Why is this game so fricking frontline heavy?
>only 4/10 class can use back row weapon
>dancer need to be in front row to buff dps
>Runemaster need to be in the front row to maximize link damage with passive
>fortress need to be in the front row because hers ,landsknecht's and runemaster's passive
>arcanist is jobless once she put down circle, you wish she equipped rapier so she can basic attack
And the rest beside the sniper is a DPS that obviously need to be in the front row.
>dancer need to be in front row to buff dps
why would they do this
This is my biggest grip with this game. Everything is fun, strong and viable except
the fricking self-row buff that makes party building annoying.
The other game that i played,3 and 5 aren't. In 3 hoplite can use spear, though there's no auto-provoke. sov can be in the backrow. Buccaneer can use back row weapon. Not to mention any subclass using ninja main can use keburi no sue. Both game are also not plagued with self-row buff.
Because dancer buffs circumvent the 3 buff limit by only taking the dancer's buff slots but affecting everyone else in their line as well, or the full party with Wide Dance. They're also the most powerful buffs in the game by magnitude.
Yeah I dropped my dancer early on in 4
Every game in the series is like that.
There's plenty of back row strategies though? Nightseeker can focus on ailment skills from the backline and Bushi's single best attacking skill (Shockwave) can be spammed from back row.
Runemaster's class passive also incentivizes you to stack 3 of them in the back row. I wouldn't classify them as front row at all.
>turn based game
>DPS
PLAY FASTER
I hate in general that DPS turned into a name for a role. It's not a role, it's damage per second. Even healer and take have a DPS number. I don't call healer HPS.
Wtf happened to "damage dealer"?
Don't you mean nuker?
To be fair you could argue that "nuker" specializes in burst damage, rather than sustained damage. They "nuke".
The distinction doesn't come up often though, in part because the distinction between lots of continuous damage and lots of intervalled is extremely arbitrary in most games.
morons hear a term, parrot it without knowing what it means, and if enough of them do it, it becomes widespread. it's not limited to videogames.
Healers' jobs aren't to maximize HPS. They're meant to heal. Tanks aren't meant to tank per second, they're meant to tank. Damage dealers' job is to maximize their damage output, their DPS. At the end of the day, people use DPS because that's what WoW called the role. You were DPS, regardless of utility
I don't know. Back when I played WoW we abbreviated it to DD. But that's been a few years.
I don't know if the actual UI elements in WoW refer to them as DPS by now but I know FFXIV does and probably others so I guess it is here to stay and annoy the piss out of me.
Because the term stuck and that's it, the same reason why we still attach p to 1080p is because it stuck not that anyone will ever use 1080i at this point. We could say just 1080 but we won't, people will attach the p for the rest of time.
dancer is meant to constantly switch rows, i.e. dance.
putting your runemaster in the frontline is moronic. it's 15% damage, you will live.
your arcanist can do literally anything else when you put down a circle, subclassing exists.
you can give anyone any weapon by subclassing, and even equip two weapons if you want to have both options at all times.
>arcanist is jobless once she put down circle, you wish she equipped rapier so she can basic attack
just wait until you get subclassing and ailment boost. You swing double forged daggers from the back row and spread ailments for free way better than you have any right to be able to.
How does it work? If i have main weapon with poison and sub weapon also with poison, will it try to inflict poison with each hit or just once but with increased chance? If i have main with poison and sub with confuse, will the first attack inflict both or just poison?
each weapon's infliction is completely separate depending on what each weapon is forged with. The secret sauce that makes it work is that ailment boost increases the chance additively, so while a single ailment forge is something like only 6% chance to inflict, with ailment boost it goes up to 21%. And if you forge different ailments they all get the additive boost so you can have 4 separate 21% chances per weapon. Then on top of that there's the splash forge which does minimal damage but now you're hitting 3 enemies with your ailment wienertail.
Yeah i know the secret sauce, just wondering how forge works and what set up to make.
I had mine set up with blind/paralyze/panic on the first knife and blind/paralyze/panic/sleep on the second. Obvious you don't want sleep on the first since the second hit wakes the enemy up, and while you can fit poison or curse on the first neither one does anything other than fuel nightseeker's damage and tdue to ailment hierarchy they block the ailments on the second hit.
Backrow slots are for your healer and runemaster
If you aren't using neither a runemaster or a sniper you're going to run out of space.
IIRC the imperial has a lot of downtime turns between bursts so you could juggle him between frontline and backrow
>healer
>regen waltz : Your line recovers HP at the end of a turn for 3 turns
>runemaster
>enlightment : Further increases elemental attack and defense for allies in your line
I'm not going to deny being a permanent backrow is viable, but i don't like that my party is unable to reach it's full potential. I ran L/D/NS/F/RM and it's just painful seeing my fortress and runemaster passive get squandered. I could put Nightseeker in the back but having to switch dancer whenever i want to heal fortress or buff landsknecht was already annoying enough.
>having to switch dancer whenever i want to heal fortress or buff landsknecht was already annoying enough.
that's the class's entire gimmick. you should get a medic if pressing "switch" is that painful for you
this just isn't a do whatever and build a party however you like and you'll succeed regardless game, anon
all classes have strengths and weaknesses that you have to build into, relying on dancer to heal is a bold choice to begin with
you just built a party that doesn't synergize well, that's all
Usually there's shortcuts that will connect the stairs so it's only a few tiles of walking from floor to floor. Start searching those walls
What should i do with Highlander in U1? Rush Delayed/Crossed?
That and bloody offense, that's basically all he needs to do
It's been awhile but I recall the one that copies an element being good too. Spear assist I think.
watch out for TP costs, highlander has beyond shit TP
I think PQ is more up your alley
find the shortcuts
I'm getting filtered by the first floor of 2nd stratum currently. My team (2 dancers, fortress, sniper, and runemaster) are lvl 17 but can barely survive more than 3 encounters with the enemies if I'm lucky. Refresh waltz helps with petaloids but their attacks kill my backliners, gorillas are a luck battle with getting an arm bind off before my front row all die, and it takes forever to kill fire bulbs. Help me.
>1 damage dealing class
>in the difficulty spike
good luck
There's a side dungeon in the west guarded by dinogator. Explore it first so that you are in the appropriate level, your RM should be able to easily clear it with fire spell.
Just advance slowly, new stratum are usually hard like that. Once you reach level 20 it will be much easier. You can use the ice burst to kill fire bulb when it become big.
I believe you in you anon
I had a moronic team because I'm moronic. I had a landsknecht and dancer in the front and a medic, a nightseeker, and a runemaster in the back
How far did you get without fortress?did you grind? I'm considering benching my fortress, this girl is really unfun to play, die too easily
I beat the boss, but not the superboss
I don't really like grinding so I didn't do it much but I sometimes wished I had a fortress.
I'm actually doing better now after exploring the moth cave that the other anon mentioned and also the red bear cave in the first area. Leveling is still a bit slow but the enemies are much more managable. Upgraded lots of weapons too (now I'm poor) so my sniper isn't dead weight if he misses a bind. Everyone else becomes dead weight if he misses a bind though if you know what I mean.
the level curve is set up so that in each area you do mini dungeon > main dungeon floor 1 > mini dungeon > main dungeon floor 2 > mini dungeon > main dungeon floor 3. If you don't do the mini dungeons you'll feel a power spike in enemy strength since it's like skipping a floor.
Guard Tango is the key. Also spam your Burst skills if you haven't been doing that. You'd have access to some good ones by now.
I thought you could do that in 4, but maybe I'm misremembering. You can do it in all the other 3DS EO games can't you? I know you can do it in U2 because I just played it recently, but I feel like I would have remembered if you couldn't in the others.
No, that was only a thing from Untold and onward. Though in 5 it's more of a checkpoint to latest floor you've been to, in Untold it's "clear the floor and you can jump to any floor that's already cleared"
>get to claret hollows in eou, drop game before beating superboss
>get to forbidden woods in eo2u, drop game before beating superboss
>get to hall of darkness in eoiv, drop game before beating superboss
>get to empyreal bridge in eov, drop game before beating superboss
The dungeons themselves are fine, but getting about 30 levels in one stratum compared to the 12 or so from the others is a lot of time in the same area.
I love Etrian Odyssey
I don't believe you
Oh yeah? Name every Etrian then
The millenum girl
Jackie Chan
le milenom girl
Etrian is also a collectathon game. Starting at the first floor will help farm x99 of every drop and eventually become disgustingly rich later.
I wish I had a N3DS instead of an original model.
Why'd she do it?
I remember one of the last bosses in the game was really pissing me off so I equipped a bunch of dancers with two instant death daggers each and spammed auto attack until he died instantly.
You didn't beat it
You did beat it
You beat me
Beat it
Michael is that you?
Of course not silly, that's ignorant
I really like link/chase/chain skills, probably my favorite attack skills in the series. Is there any other jrpgs with classes/characters that have skills similar to those?
Which games has the best chase/chain/link?
V easily.
Making my team now,Fencer or masurao?
Fencer is the chase class. Masurao is the meme swordsman class where they can either wield 1 katana with armor or wield 4 katanas with no armor.
I would imagine that the fencer can chase those 4kats in their entirety but can't say for sure.
I don’t know if it he’ll slash and a chain would properly interact. Hell slash would need to be imbued with a element to work. Both are treated as a follow up, and I know you can’t proc a chain off of a chain so I don’t think you can proc a hell slash off a chain or vice versa.
hell slash works differently from chains and will chase after each chain hit. It will not trigger additional chains.
fencer for honest chaining, masuro for maximum cheese. Or both, since I believe hell slash can proc of fencer chains.
Marauo is like Ronin with none of the drawbacks, and it's better
Played a 1kat masurao and she did great damage on her own, her combo was legsweep to lower enemy avoidance and a big hit with low accuracy. It was amazing.
Fencer is more of a team class and I didn't want to build my whole party around chases again.
Also, they limited the number of chases per turn
>Also, they limited the number of chases per turn
Trust me that's a good thing, because they balanced the damage around it. Well, I say "balanced" but chain Fencer hits like an absolute fricking nuke. Needing few activations to deal good damage is the main reason I like them so much over Landy links. Not only that, but Chain Burst is the coolest shit ever and lets them contribute to aoe in encounters with smart planning without using a skill outside their chase gimmick. God I love chain Fencer so much.
I love Fencer too. With a single chain your Fencer does around the damage of a regular non-OP skill. With a party built around the Fencer they end up doing more damage than the other 4 party members put together.
>This one hasn't been added to steam yet
Yay? I mean I'd like it on PC but I can't port my progress without jailbreaking my 3DS or something
4,5,u1,u2, nexus, MD1, MD2 aren't on steam either
Is it normal to pick up the first game and get my ass kicked before finishing the first floor?
yes, especially depending on how squishy your front liners are. Once you get a level or two it gets much better, but the first couple floors are going to be like that
What is the better version, switch or 3ds?
I think I'm at the choice section of EO3
I don't like making choices even though I know I have to do both eventually, what do I do.
shoguns are much better than robots sadly so do that one first
the +100 hp accessory is probably better than the +100 tp accessory too since dark either exists.
is etrian odyssey 4 worth playing or is it okay to skip straight to 5?
4 felt like a slog in the early game. and the overworld airship stuff was shit.
You sound like a homosexual that stinks of smegma. But sure, you can skip 4. 5 has no worldmap.
stop imagining smegma homosexual frick.
I loved 4, but it was also my first EO game so I might be biased.
>fight the boss of the fourth stratum (EO4)
>sort of figure out the gimmick after a first botched attempt
>blow through everything I have to take it down, barely any resources or TP left to spare
>the fricking head comes off
>self-destruct imminent
>my bandanashark and Logre somehow manage to cut it down via Vanguard right as it's about to blow
Jesus fricking christ.
Love that boss fight
>Stance of frick you
hmmmmm i wonder what the stance is supposed to do? A counter stance percha HOLY SHIT
I started EO4 the day it came out and I still never beat it. Still sitting on my shelf too
how will your flat girls go on adventurers if they're stuck on a shelf
I can just imagine it, that's what these games are all about right
>want to replay iv and try bushi
>only one save file
>new game plus must carry over items and money
>the default katana has attack on par with the third stratum
Why must they make replaying the game so annoying, early game gear wasn’t a problem in 1
You could always go mace+dagger or something until you reach the third stratum, or give them a subclass before restarting so they have another option. Landshark for swords maybe? Bushi is a lot of fun, if I wasn't committed to keeping my bobcut Fortress on the team I'd swap in a Bushi/Fortress instead and use them as an aggressive tank.
Anyone else order the physical version? My copy is stuck in New York customs I think. But seeing this OP image does remind me of how comfy and perfect these games are on the original hardware. The only major QOL issue with the original DS trilogy was that you couldn't see an enemy's codex in battle without using an item.
>The only major QOL issue with the original DS trilogy was that you couldn't see an enemy's codex in battle without using an item.
the EO trilogy never had an in-battle codex let alone an item that shows it
you're probably thinking of SMT3+
There wasn't an Analyze/Scope item? I'm 99% there was. I hate smt
nope
there is a "scope" item but it's used to reveal FOEs on the map
iv fricking sucks all the games after it are better
Play Persona Q.
PQ is an underrated gem
so, what is the official name of Hexer girl?
Jackie Chan
>shit names
its over
make up your own name then
That was her name in the manga
Blue Rain
Sexer
now thats a Ganker approved name
Sylvie
Playing etrian one
Using lankesxhet, dark hunter, alchemist, medic, trombodour
Anyone in should change our while I'm still early on? Still feel like using dark hunter and trombodour
Part of me wants to use survivalist but there's no room.
from what I remember, Landsknecht was easily replaceable with any other class as it had this issue where he his effectiveness greatly depended on the rest of your team. Hexer and DH are both great classes, some would argue that they break the game even
hexer in eo1 isn't going to break anything
It's can be really good together with DH since they buffed binds, in HD remaster anyway
wait, so they did rebalance the HD editions? Thought there were no changes
>wait, so they did rebalance the HD editions?
no, they fixed some bugs but that's about it
Stuff that didn't work now works.
Provoke used to be useless, now it works. Binds used to not scale up, now they do. En garde never worked, now it does.
However stuff that didn't work as intendes still works like the past. Beast still uses the defense of the target for loyalty skills instead of its own. Immunize is still good ol' immunize, etc
that was my party except i had survivalist instead of landsknecht
Protector is mandatory for postgame, unless you want to reset for turn 1 binds or sell organs to buy axelas to spam boosted lv10 immunize
Get the lv10 in staffs and caduceus as soon as you have the basic heals going, killing stuff before they hurt the party is more efficient than healing the party
Survivalist is big ass fricking damage, and the ability to make a certain character (like the alchemist) going first is invaluable, but you do you, experiment and have fun, EO1 isn't that hard until floor 26 anyway
even boosted immunize won't save you from turn one dragon breath unless you get a preemptive or have a survivalist for 1st turn.
Landy should rush allslash and watch random encounters instantly die.
You will be fine until postgame where Protector's anti-elemental skills are required to beat some postgame fights.
Survivalist is great for item gathering so I would advise making a party of 3 Survivalists (1 take, 1 chop, 1 mine), maybe a 4th with Stalker so you can lower the encounter rate, then take a protector with them so you can soak up some damage and level it alongside your main team and get money and items out of it.

>Score
I fricking kneel so hard, ive been searching for EO scores for the longest time
EO1 or U1 for first playthrough?
EO1. Untold is a lot harder and while you could just set it to easy mode there's no fun in that. The classes are pretty reworked so play both eventually anyways.
Any mandatory classes for EO3?
hoplite for postgame but you can subclass it
Either a Princess or Monk.
Else you'll be painfully playing without a healer.
I'm playing eo1, current party is a protector, landsknecht, DH, alchemist, medic. Any skills I should focus on? I've been doing a lot of binds and lightning formulae.
>replaying Etrian Mystery Dungeon to see why people hate it
>it has a button to randomly generate your character names
frick you guys this is the best etrian
>Teach isnt there
thats why it sucked
>change the name from Paladin
>still call them holy knights
please be of understanding
>no translation
It's not fricking fair
quest
something food
something level
go out
I played through classic SMT in jp and I barely know it. dungeon crawlers might be one of the easiest genres to play if you have minimal jp skills.
it's a roguelike not a dungeon crawler
Considering MD type games always rely heavily on item usage with a lot more than simple healing items and also partially use the not so intuitive EO skills, and apparently the combinaison of both end up quite ballbusting, I doubt you'd get very far with rudimentary japanese.
You know what, I've been looking for a new 3ds game to play so I'm gonna try.
>quest
>order food
>establishment level
>go outside
This is easy, the hard part is translating skill descriptions
Is Apollon worth training?
Apollon is literally their best attack besides Multishot
Who is etrian and what is his odyssey? Why does he have 5 odysseys?
We killed Etria way back in 1 so yeah it's pretty stupid the series is named after him
Some time I want to replay this with 2 custom characters, and just add the 3 npc's as they join throughout the story. Seems like a fun way to do it, but I'm not sure yet what the two initial classes should be.
My wife nightseeker is necessary though.
Isn't it weird that they called it EO 1-3 HD collection when the series started at UOI and IV?
A part of me wants to run 4 buccaneers one subbed with shogun, one gladiator, one ninja (for some instant death attack swashbuckling), maybe one subbed with hoplite and lastly the poor little white girl (male monk) as the heal b***h. This team setup speaks to me (all pirates have milf portraits ofc)
>Hexer's are overpowered even in Mystery Dungeon
i'm thinking this game's based
Poison affects the entire room and not only does it poison but it also slows so you get 2x free turns
What the hell were they thinking with Zombie Powder
>Hey, wanna see my huge wraiths?
I certainly don't regret playing with 2 Necros
>hey dude see this FOE? have fun
>hey dude see this boss? not anymore
>EO3U
>Wildlings can capture and use bosses
>3U story mode
>instead of Dungeon Meshi of 2U you get Pokemon where a party Wildling collects ALL the beasts from the dungeons including the bosses
>aw sweet a Pasaran
>hell yeah a pre-emptive attack
>and the leg bind landed too
>the thing self destructs
>no EXP
I will murder every single one of these things as retaliation.
get fricked
>game suddenly becomes horror
>hit the second stratum of 3
>just murder all the FOEs as i go
How, what party
Arbalist Hoplite Wildling
Zodiac Monk
If you build it right it shreds through everything
Sleep proc + even one point into the Front Mortar plus Giant Kill means massive damage, Zodiac getting an elemental Limit proc boosted by Etheric Charge leads to moronation too, especially if you head bound the target beforehand.
Isn't that just the most optimal party in the whole game?
minus the wildling
Nah the most optimal would have a Bucc or Gladiator instead of Wildling.
Why do you have two elemental attackers and no gun Bucc
Because chasers are awful in 3 aside from warrior's might
>frontline wildling
Do beast summons deal full damage from the back row?
Wildling's main function is status application. You really don't need your summons to do damage.
Which Etrian Odyssey is the best one? The most complete experience?
3 or 4
1 is also good if you don't mind the jank
I'm stuck with the sailing stuff in E03.
Some guide says I need 2 equipment slots for the ship to proceed but I don't know how to get them.
I have the canon and the +1 movement too.
assuming you're following the guide in order you probably need to reach a new stratum first
>play EO2 with an imported EO1 save
>find a "nice spot to rest" in BF1
>get ambushed by venomflies if you take it because your guild should know better by now
very cool, also:
>get to BF2
>did a couple quests
>still no warp wires for sale
haha very funny
where the frick is my goddamn warp wire
>where the frick is my goddamn warp wire
talk to the shop e-girl
>it was that easy
i hate being moronic, but thank you anon
Can you get the rewards from Sea quests multiple times or are they one time only?
One time but you can get another via new game+ if you really wanted to
Which etriams would you go on an odyssey with?
nene
Bunnies. Always the bunnies.
Why did Atlus make bunnies the based moron race
All points into STR. If they had INT (TEC) they'd be unstoppable.
I love critgod bunnies so much
When you come across a barrier like this that isn't exactly a wall, but impedes you nonetheless, how do you mark it on your map?
Just use a wall line? Or do you use a floor colour you haven't used for damage tiles?
automap marks it as a wall
A chasm is a wall as far as I'm concerned.
>chasm
the water looks knee high
and how tall do you think your flatties are?
I prefer tall flats
Based! However, not applicable to the issue in cause.
then they all drown
If FOEs can cross it but I can't, I mark it in a different colour. Otherwise I just mark them as walls.
>making a map of a hedgemaze
>don't draw any walls because birds can fly over it
Yes, you colour the hedges in with grey or whatever
If you mark them as walls, there will be some awkward empty spots on the map. The map looks more complete if you leave the holes alone and only mark the actual walls as walls imo.
in the later games that give you 8 colors to play with, I draw it blue and no wall. In this game since you only have 3 I wall it off and don't color it.
is this the chaotic or lawful way to map this floor
Doors need to be walled off and painted under.
>they just give you the 3x locked classes for beating the 1st boss
neat
Man, the wanderer design in Etrian style is up there. Too bad we likely will never see it again.
How do I sovereign?
I rushed monarch march and it's great out of combat, but in combat he feels a bit useless.
Do I rush the healing order next?
Attack order
Protect order
Prevent order
I'm taking it slow with Etrian 3, but I sure am enjoying myself tbh.
Etrian Odisi isn't a speed game, so don't worry about going slow.
Yup. Each outing will make those earlier sections easier though until you're able to zoom past them no problem.
What's their fricking problem?
Stay out of my stratum nerd
Pretty easy around lvl 15.
Small reduction for slash, bash, pierce, which cover all physical resistances yes.
meant for
Is it safe to assume these will run no problem on the switch emulator?
Just go download the PC versions if you're pirating. The incredible morons at Atlus forgot to include Denuvo at release, so the PC versions are 100% pirate-able.
Oh wow I didn't expect that to happen guess I'll grab the PC versions then, thanks anon.
Are the mystery dungeon etriams good?
only if you like mystery dungeon games
it's pretty janky though
10% to slash, crush, and pierce
moron newbie here.
Does that mean the boots have phys damage reduction?
If they ever make a third untold the MC should be a half-shogun half yggdroid
Like some young Armoroad noble who got fricked up inside a dungeon and had his hand replaced by a mechanical one
I wonder how they would have handled the plot. Keep the routes and make it even more smt-like, or just have the story party default to a golden ending.
The world may never know...
>missed unique boss drop because it died before Formaldehyde proc'd
Should i restart the fight or can I get it later?
It's the whale boss in EO3 btw.
Everything respawns with time
stratum bosses respawn when you beat the next stratum's boss, and every 14 days or so afterwards.
Is there a list of changes in the remasters somewhere? Or is it 100% untouched from originals?
Does Ninja take some time to shine? I have one just to fill a slot on a regal radiance party and it hasn't done much but soak up damage while Gladiator murders everything.
It's a endgame murder machine and a prime choice for subclassing for pretty much any class.
QoL like bringing the skill trees to 1 and 2, side stepping, fast movement/combat/text and balance changes on all 3 games.
Ninja is better as a sub, really.
They should bring a world map again in the next entry but make it more fun to navigate than in 4
3's sea is amazing, a fun puzzle, a good source of income/exp/items.
Make it a ground based next time or something.
I like under a rock but why not include the 3ds remakes as well
Because they would need to make Untold 3. 3 never had any modern re-releases they could just port so they decided to just make a classic collection.
I get that they locked you to specific characters because of story but were they fun?
Classic mode Untolds are probably the best entries in the franchise overall. Hard as frick, good class balance, great revamped level design. 1U had a problem with Grimoires being too RNG based, but 2U grimoires are fun.
Never got the complaints about story mode since it's optional and quite honestly i personally enjoyed both anyway, they are a nice diversion.
U2 story was honestly pretty fun, watching Fafnir evolve through killing bosses was cool. The twist with Bertrand and the purpose of Fafnirs, as well as their connection to overlord, was all very well done for how sparse Atlus stories tend to be.
I knew U2 would be fun since the moment i've heard Fafnir henshin theme
Holy frickng shit all about him is cool
Really wish he was his own character and not a literally me. I wish almost all Atlus protagonists were their own characters now that I think about it, so many cool designs wasted.
Can't believe he never SEXed Arianna
He literally flew over to Armoroad and was found by Olympia
If U3 ever happens he will get his happy end with Arianna
>we will never get an untold 3 with the rest of the party on armoroad's side having to fight fafnir
Deranged amnesiac Fafnir sounds like a superboss material
Because they were unpopular and nearly killed the series.
1U is the third best selling game in the series and 2U is nowhere nearly as much of a flop as some idiots consider it to be.
Bros!
Did they fix the text in the remakes?
No, but there are mods.
There's always a shortcut right by the stairs to the next level
What do I uas as a sub for Zodiac?
Either Gladiator for Charge + Meteor spam or Bucc for Limit gauge generation and elemental Limits
Personally i think the elemental Limit path is far more fun.
Not just fun, probably the strongest thing in the game. The rest of the party can do whatever.
Front Mortar Arbalist is still more broken but yeah, Limit Zodiac is super busted too.
The best thing about it is the fact Zodiac limits activate later in turn so you can Etheric Charge + Limit in the same turn.
Yes, elemental Limits like Hellfire
You only need 1 character with a full Limit to use it. The second is just there as a pair.
Elemental limits meaning the limit attacks themselves? DOn't those require 2 characters to use?
>made a meme 3x runemaster back row party, with intent to also use imperial for maximum elemental damage memes
>completely burnt out because it's not nearly as fun as I thought and while foes melt, random encounters are pretty shitty to deal with when you don't do any damage until after eating hits yourself
I might actually abandon this run midway.
That's the fate of all runs where I just stack the team with one or two classes. The best part of EO is seeing how the different classes work together in your team, and you miss that completely with a meme run. It also makes the encounters into much more of a flow chart because you don't have tools for contingencies. You just spam whatever works for the whole game until you hit a wall.
Nah some repeats actually work well together, like multiple dark hunters, several classes in V (multiple necros sharing wraiths, multiple Dragoons sharing gun revenge procs from the same bunkers), or a dual War Magus party with DH, Hexer, and a tank in U2. Runemasters definitely do not however.
I dunno I feel having two necros is pretty good
>shitty "HD" ports worse than the remake versions released a decade ago instead of translating etrian mystery dungeon 2
I'm still mad
>hurf durf md bad
frick you
>hurf durf learn japanese
dekinai
>hurf durf ywnbaw
thank god
You find shortcuts.
So do subclasses not allow you to use their weapons?
I want to give my princess a gun since she's in the back all the time
Has Gunner ever been bad?
A GUN using class is pretty meh in 3.
That's not really Gunner but I understand
>unlock subclasses
>spend literally 2 hours deciding which ones I want to pick
>still not sure I made the correct ones
Make a separate save so you can return to your choices later. It's more fun than replaying early stratums non stop.
>Landy / Bushi
Chases + unlimited TP while exploring
>Dancer / Nightseeker
Buffs and dualwield + sword dance procs a lot of chases
>Bushi / ??
Demolishes random encounters and has a multihit for more chases
>Runemaster / Imperial
Amazing in random encounters due to elemental weakness and imperial adds a couple good passives plus unlimited TP if you need even more for whatever reason
>Arcanist / Medic
Healer duty and can land status ailments every now and then. I recall poison being pretty easy to land and panic was serviceable in random encounters
I dare you to find a flaw
>Arcanist / Medic
It's not Arcanist/Nightseeker, there is your flaw
>doesn't have a chad Imperial in his party
That's your flaw
>your motherfricking life ends 10minutes from know
I already had a landy, there is no way I would roll another long setup class.
I read about the status dagger cheese but playing it just doesn't sound like fun.
Does arcanist /sniper work at all?
I really wanted to play around with binds but snipers TEC stat is pretty awful and their skills are shit (at least in tier1 and 2, maybe they get better by the end game)
Nightseeker is better than medic because you get access to more ailments. Arianism can already heal through circles so more healing isn’t really necessary especially when you have a dancer that can give more regen. Revives can be handled through nectars.
Landsknecht/Bushi is my favourite combination in EO4. Don't sleep on the katana skills. Even at half rank they absolutely wreck face.
Bushi works with everything, but I like them with Medic for Star Drop or Protector for a more defensive/selfish mace build. They also have insane regen with Dancer or Nightseeker's multiple basic attacks but I think that's overkill in most cases.
Is there any way to make this floor not look awful?
I've done the best I can, but I still have a minor dissatisfaction with it.
>drawing lines around stairs
disgusting
You can't access the stairs from the sides, frickface.
Why not just paint the paths in and have a one way arrow if the path is one way?
I used doors for the lilypads since they take you to another room like doors do
I'd only put an arrow at the beginning and end of each path since most of them are straight lines.
The only one that is kinda annoying is the one that goes around a corner with the T intersection at the top.
maybe only put arrows at the start and in the corners.
>Played EOU and EOU2 in classic
>told playing the original is still worth it
>Maps are 90% the fricking same with tiny alterations
>Enemies same
I hate you all
>Maps are 90% the fricking same
Wait until you get to EO2
Are the maps actually completely new in EOU2?
EO2 might still be worth playing. EO1 just feels like a more archaic version of EOU with tiny differences in the maps
I don't paint under doors.
It's been a ton of time since i played 3 and i clearly remember both the Waterfall Woods and Grotto maps being more interesting in Nexus in terms of level layout.
what the frick do i level up on the hexer (II) , theres like a million spells
If you use physical attackers, get dampen.
Torpor for random encounters, revenge for bosses.
poison is good if you rush it to 10, but the lower levels are dogshit so the hexer will be useless for the first few levels. frailty and dampening are both good but don't stack, torpor and evil eye + suicide are the best ailments. Revenge is OP if you build around it.
There is are poisons, just curses.
>dampen
>22 skill points remaining
ok time for le adventure
>there is are
There are NO poisons *whoops
look harder
Playing through EO1, is protector/landy/survivalist/medic/dancer going to be good enough for hard mode or am I going to get fricked mid/late game?
that team is extremely standard and will be fine
What would make a EO1 meme party?
I heard someone did 5 survivalist. I'm sure 5 medic is doable too except for the ice dragon and maybe the other dragons and primevil.
double dark hunter, ronin, medic, alchemist
5 sexers with suicide spam
Protector, medic, survivalist is just an autowin.
