tears of the kingdom is heavily flawed but its gameplay still trounces all over mmo trash. ive played through the entirety of totk and xiv and can solemnly swear that from a game design perspective totk is far more impressive.
xiv at least has challenging bosses in high end content but that doesn't justify the essential movie-gameness of it for ~200 hours prior to that. nor does it justify how lonely of an mmo it is.
im excited for xvi and i'm sure it will be better than xiv, a turd with some nice shiny spots that convince you otherwise.
wow, a game that takes breath of the wild and retools the design to make way for monetization systems. surely an improvement. surely not a strictly worse experience by virtue of it being more transparently a Business Product
>not listening to "experts" means you must listen to Ganker posters
There are other ways you know? Or maybe you could, I dunno form you own fricking opinions.
>forming your own opinions in 2023
But then why would I watch my favorite influencers? I need to be told what to think anon, it's why I browse the israeliteTube and b***h streams.
I think the Fukushima nuclear spill is worse than what the media is saying.
I sense the Japanese are truly getting stupider. I don't want to say this in an offensive way either.
Too many dumb decisions coming out since then signaling some kind of cognitive issue.
It is. It’s just this shitty place that gets upset over good games.
Tears of the kingdom is excellent. Skyrim remains great after a decade.
Enjoy games. This board is an excellent reverse indicator. The more it seethes the better the game is.
I agree with your description of Xenoblade, but IIRC Monolith's involvement was just technical. I.E. teams were used to help with the a previously established workload. They didn't actually contribute ideas.

There's shit in these two games that just scream "designed almost entirely by Monolith" like Zora's domain.
>from the perspective of a developer
Says a lot coming from a renowned developer of video games that have no challenge, minimal gameplay in general, and are borderline visual novels.
Here's another world-renowned developer of "video games", what's his take on it I wonder?
Ain't got nothin' against JRPGs or RPGs in general, just shitty games. Final Fantasy being a paragon.
Game directors in Japan is a completely different job title than Game director in America/Europe/Etc. Directors in Japan shape the entire game, think of Kojima. Without him there would be no Death Standing or Metal Gear. Directors in say EA or Activision get replaced like candy and there is no solid foundation because their role is different they are manager heads.
Isn't that more insulting? Means their vision is to play awful video games.
More power to 'em, guys who actually have control over projects, who have an end goal and a creative vision. Doesn't mean they can't fail, and it doesn't mean their vision isn't to make shitty video games where stats and encounters mean nothing and the adventure is just walking from cutscene to cutscene that the player has no involvement in.

>games that have no challenge
He does make challenging content. In response the players just cheat through it with addons. It's not the devs fault 99.99% of players are casuals. At the end of the day no dev is going to sustain an mmo catering towards harcore gamers.
Yep, there is a reason Elden Ring was not a metroidvania >So Miyazaki copied BotW?
no he was inspired by it and iterated and added his own ideas, iteration is what makes great games
I honestly dont get what's so fricking special about a open world game with puzzles and okayish combat running on a subpar system with terrible framerate
"okayish" is pretty generous. Remember that Ubisoft attempt cashing in on BotW, Immortals: Fenyx Rising? That shit's combat was about the same, except that it had enemies who unironically blocked your path, and better boss fights.
Now TotK is out and it's done nothing to improve the core (combat) mechanics, rather it doubled down on menu hopping, so now a 3 year-old Ubisoft title that itself felt like a mobile game seems better.
It just baffles me that entire development teams OK this shit. It's like they don't even play their own games, which wouldn't surprise me.
Truly TotK is the best game ever made. So shall we compare to other 90/100+ games, since TotK is the second coming?
Only fair to compare it to the best games in history, since it scores higher than all of those.
>TotK is the single most innovative Zelda and game that has ever graced the market, more innovative than Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild >the graphics of TotK blow every single game out of the water, they surpass what Crisis did to the market, the amazing ambiance of Red Dead Redemption 2 and even in its own console, they surpass the art style and beautiful shades of Mario Odyssey >the combat, don't get me started on the amazing combat! It is clearly better than Bloodborne, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and God of War >the style outmatches lazy unjustified 4 year production cycles like Persona 5 >the plot of *Sigh, somehow Ganondorf has returned* is the single greatest plot to ever exist, much better than the likes of Disco Elysium, Majora's Mask and Final Fantasy 6 >look at all this creative freedom that the game provides, clearly outmatches Minecraft, Roblox and all other baby games with massive fanbase >look at all these amazing sidequests, putting to shame Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Origins-Valhalla
Truly TotK is the STATE OF THE ART, the gold standard. The score of this game was not artificially boosted by the +20 Nintendo Bonus at all. It is clearly better than Majora's Mask and any GTA game.
It truly is a 96/100, just like Skyward Sword was 92/100. Truly the GREATEST games to ever grace the market. Why devs even try?
>If you disagree with my you're a snoyfanboy
have a nice day BOTW zoomer homosexual. sony is shit but you're also shit and your boogeyman does not excuse you from that.
dmc is stages, ff & dragons dogma is open.
dmc is button mash combos, ff & dragons dogma are jrpg stats.
dmc takes place in modern times, ff & dragons dogma takes place in medevil
So? You can change classes in DMC3 and play different characters in DMCV, effectively no different from ARPG classes. They're all action games, and in terms of enemy's mechanical design, core input mechanics, and the aesthetic design of the combat as a whole, XVI (from what we've seen) has more in common with DMC.
You're overemphasizing the "RPG" in regards to Dogma's combat, it's just a balancing tool and to give a sense of progression, and I say that as a fan of it. MK Holy Cannon represent. XVI will have that same core concept, but battles will ultimately play out more similar to DMC.
In other words: the only thing XVI and DD have in common is what you can do on menus, and like almost every Final Fantasy game, it will likely have no major impact on how the game is played. So even less in common with DD.
he already made a game far better though (xiv)

burh Genshin impact exists...

A competely flat game with zero physical interaction with anything, bravo brainlet
I'm sorry, Mr. Bond, but you are incorrect.
Nooooo!!! Don't listen to educated experts!!!! The tweens on Ganker told me it was shit!!!!!
>listening to experts in the year 2020+3

The top Japanese devs also think Skyrim is good
true lmao. even myyazaki loves that trash. what is wrong with them?
Even Ganker who cums all over Dragons Dogma...it was inspired by Elder Scrolls Oblivion and came out shortly before Skyrim.
shortly after*
demon's souls was inpired by oblivion too. sony literally went to from software and told them "make us a ps3 exclusive oblivion clone".
I think the Fukushima nuclear spill is worse than what the media is saying.

Japanese devs really appreciate sandbox freedom because they've been hooked to skinner boxes for decades already.
These games aren't sandboxes, they're more like Themepark MMOs but offline.
only if you're a bug tbh
Xenoblade games are the definition of a offline MMO and Botw games are co developed by them.
I agree with your description of Xenoblade, but IIRC Monolith's involvement was just technical. I.E. teams were used to help with the a previously established workload. They didn't actually contribute ideas.

they're right
He already know FF16 is failure. He just want o land a job in Nintendo.

deal with it, homosexual

Imagine being an npc who gets filtered by this game because they have no intrinsic motivation or creativity or can't pay attention to details.
Imagine thinking fisher-price puzzles deserves my attention
Yep. Best Zelda game ever and it's not even close. Shame OoT fanboys can't admit the truth.
Yes, it's very rare nowadays but people in industry actually used to play new video games.
Yep, there is a reason Elden Ring was not a metroidvania
>So Miyazaki copied BotW?
no he was inspired by it and iterated and added his own ideas, iteration is what makes great games
>Zelda is now a sandbox physics building game
The zoomers won
>Where you fall from the sky ala fortnite
I kind of get the sense all of the people praising TotK are Zoomers too... or just infantile manbabies.
wow anon you're so cool for hating a popular thing, can I suck your wiener too?
I honestly dont get what's so fricking special about a open world game with puzzles and okayish combat running on a subpar system with terrible framerate

Didn't buy botw and still not buying your slop even if you pay the entire board to shill this turd.
Atlus is the final bastion for story-driven turn-based jrpgs

>genuine piece of honest criticism
troony, these two games changed the industry, and devs know it
>open world garbage genre slop
>sells like hotcakes to normalgays
>so the industry copies what sells
woah really? stop the presses.
okay! but please never stop seething, and make sure to cope, and do it publicly, it makes me feel good!
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Its like 2017 all over again.
Better than ameritroony garbage Playstation makes.
>If you disagree with my you're a snoyfanboy
have a nice day BOTW zoomer homosexual. sony is shit but you're also shit and your boogeyman does not excuse you from that.
There is fundamental difference between playing video game when working/praising other franchises. Yoshia is in panic mode because FF16 is failure.
is ff17/18 now going to also be a just cause and besieged rehash?
they are dragons dogma clones now. they literally stole the dragons dogma combat lead.
You mean Devil May Cry, right? XVI looks and plays nothing like Dragon's Dogma.
dmc is stages, ff & dragons dogma is open.
dmc is button mash combos, ff & dragons dogma are jrpg stats.
dmc takes place in modern times, ff & dragons dogma takes place in medevil
What does any of that have to do with the combat?
they are action rpgs, dmc is not a rpg.

Great. Next FF games will be even worse.
