There's a word or it but I'll just call it convergent design. It's the same reason all crossover suvs look the same. They did their homework and found this to be the optimal, easiest to understand design.
I don't even think it's bad on its own, but it is sad to see games lose what was once a unique part of their identity.
what i find really stupid is that none of this even has to exists. almost all of these games are simplistic action games and yet they feel the need to have a bunch of perks, levels, upgrades for no reason other than bloat
Two gens ago we got perfect UI for a gamepad, now we got cursor for unknown reason, like in fricking grand turismo where autistic dev was applegay for decades.

I have never played a console game with a cursor menu tf are you guys talking about and I platted 30 games since sept alone.
I dont fricking care! The menus are the least important part of the game, no matter how unique and fancy they are I'm spending as little time in the menus as I can.
I think I wouldn't even mind the same-y UIs but I wish more of these AAA games would make the stats and bonuses actually do things. All the gear is just like +4 cum or something that you never feel, and you have to unlock a "talent" to do anything new. Shit sucks, I want some new systems

Oblivion's UI uses a hand drawn aesthetic and makes the player feel like they are a hero looking through their journal rather than a menu. All the icons are expertly done to transcend language barriers you could explore and understand the UI in a different language thanks to how easy it is to set up
Here's an example: This is the quest/map page look at the icons you can infer what they are very easily. >worst in gaming
I think MWII(2) 2022(3) warzone 2 (2.0)™ has hte worst fricking ui in the industry, not only is the menu fricking hulu tabs
and the gameplay uses industry standard minimalism for a hud because its only a game for sweats now. No color changes either because that may clash with the map youve chosen everything in your hud is black and white. Except for your teammates and allies who are red and blue. They didn't even get new announcers with different reactions to things because pros complained about announcers in the older games announcing kill streaks .5 secs slower.
no more cool factions just red vs blue with one annoucer that has no soul

Someone post the screenshot of like 20 AAA titles all with the same inventory UI.
That just means we've solved inventory UI. Same way all cars have a steering wheel in front of the drivers seat. It just makes sense.
At least your IQ is low enough where you can actually ingest goyslop without question. Good for you.
I'm actually at the other end of the horseshoe
Post the last game you played right now.
DayZ
You would’ve posted this image no matter what game I posted. Who’s really the NPC?
Post the dayz ui.
Into The Breach

What!? You don't wanna grind for that purple drop? Only losers use grey and green items.
Why is every UI being the same bad?
There are actual bad UIs out there.

>cursor
I fricking hate Destiny for making this shit popular

Destiny?

except in skyrim where 99% of the game is opening your menu.
Anything is better than ME1's UI
I wouldn't know, I don't play modern games

>+4 cum or something that you never feel
your mom sure felt my +4 cum stat bonus last night
Wonderful, she really does get the best stats from people
I don't have a switch or have played tears of the kingdom, but some of the ui there looks interesting.
