Threads with conversation can go on for 300+ posts. The image dump threads (like the slop ones) have a max 150 image cap. The threads lose their purpose without the images. Hence the need to make new ones. Jannies didn't make the image limit go up or make a new board, but yesterday they were helping out by waiting until image limit to autosage the threads and somewhat ease the clutter.
No idea why they act like making new (or even temporary) boards is a big deal. As someone that has used imageboard software I know it takes like 5 minutes to set up a board. Other imageboards do it constantly or even have rotating trial boards.

It has as much to do with traditional games as the Character Art / worldbuilding threads. Plenty of people use the /slop/ threads to create NPC/character art for TTRPGs or engage in worldbuilding with other users. The threads are also helpful at teaching people how to improve their prompts and produce better results.

That was me, not him. And I actually said that /slop/ is primarily an image thread, but there is also discussion regarding worldbuilding, prompts, and characters. The discussion is just intrinsically to the images.

Certain Anime/Manga, such as Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in the Dungeon and Soso no Freiren, do have justifiable reason to make appearances in /tg/ but people like you tend to jump in their threads and then scream about them being "not /tg/" which causes people to go elsewhere to talk about them.
That is not to say that I like the presence of /slop/ threads on the board because they are little more than image spam.
