Everything in this game besides bed of chaos and ghost house is fine.
>Is that true?
No, because the Dukes Archive is great until you get to the Crystal Cave. Frick Lost Izalith and Giant's Cave though
Lost izalith is actually fine other than dragon ass zone and bed of chaos.
The unique Dravidian architecture plus hellscape lava is cool, the Kirk invasion is cool, chaos eaters and statues and demons and witches are cool, the Siegmeyer and Solaire questline interactions are good too.
>other than dragon ass zone and bed of chaos.
Lost Izalith is only acceptable once you make it to the city part. You forget all the garbage ass bosses, lava walking and the entire gauntlet of Taurus and Capra demons before you fight the Asylum Demon reskin
post patch it is fine.
Everything after the asylum is downhill, don't even bother playing the game.
A lot of it before Anor Londo is also trash. Most overrated game in the series
everything past King's Field 1 is trash
Everything past Lost Kingdoms II is trash.
We get it, you like old games.
everything past pong is trash
Dukes Archive was good.
DLC bosses are kinda fun but the areas are bad
Duke's Archives/Crystal Cave is interesting/unique and not bad
New Londo/Tomb of the Giants/Lost Izalith are all bad
>duke's archive
It's okay, bit small and enemy spammy
>giant's tomb
funny prank by memezaki, I like it
>lost izalith
garbage
>lost izalith
it's really weird even ignoring eyeraping lava
was it supposed to be bigger?
it's not trash but it's not as good. the magic of the first half of das is it's like a continuous, branching journey. past anor londo, it's just go quickly down these 4 paths to find the things so you can go to endgame. a lot of the areas feel unfinished like don't even need to mention izalith but tomb of the giants is pretty bad and so is water londo and so is crystal cave. they are so short and it's a stroll past the same copy pasted enemies till you get to the boss of the area
>was it supposed to be bigger?
iirc, there was a rush from the publisher to get the game shipped before skyrim or something like that. it's almost like comparing a different game when you compare first half/second half of dark souls. there's whole bunch of cut content like go look up the bosses that only exist in game files, it's clear there was a bigger vision that was trimmed down
it's kind of a shame really just considering how good das1 is and much better it could have been if it was finished as envisioned. i guess the same applies to practically every from game. they always seem to bite off more than they can chew and end up getting heemed by the publishers to finish something
anor londo is also just one path
so is sen's fortress
>it's not trash but it's not as good. the magic of the first half of das is it's like a continuous, branching journey. past anor londo, it's just go quickly down these 4 paths to find the things so you can go to endgame.
kotor had the same issue
but for kotor those 4 planets are the whole game
i wouldn't say trash but it feels like an alpha
trash is bed of chaos and anyone who disagrees its a moron
>Is that true
No
Everything past the intro cutscene is trash. Soulslop is shit.
No. Lost Izalith haters are gays.
Autism provoking image, don't post that without the tree photoshopped in where it should be
The game really isn't worth playing anymore after you beat Ornstein and Smough
>demastered
Technically the DLC is after Anor Londo and that is the best content in any souls
Also honestly Duke's Archive, New Londo and the Tomb of Giants are all fine.
Only Lost Izalith was shit
I actually thought the DLC was pretty shitty. Only the bosses are fun
No but a lot of it is, and also the world design and balancing fall apart completely. The DLC bosses are like the only really good part after Anor Londo.
Not really. Second half of the game isn't quite as good as the first but it's till excellent.
I think Tomb of the Giants gets more hate than it deserves.
It gets the appropriate amount of hate
you can lunge attack on literally all of them
kino tbh
only incels disagree
After Anor Londo the game effectively turns into Dark Souls 2.
>isolated, disjointed levels
>derivative boss fights (Asylum Demon 3, Centipede Demon) and ganking (Nito)
>jank turned up to eleven (Bed of Chaos, Crystal Cave platforming)
>lmao darkness
>game design that is just meant to catch you out like Seath killing you in DA
actually WITH anor londo
anor londo is also disconnected from the rest of the world and linear
>game design that is just meant to catch you out like Seath killing you in DA
DA throws tons of shit that was established out of the window
>yeah, you can just walk out of the boss room through the fog gate - don't ask why you can't do it anywhere else
>yeah, you HAVE to die here to proceed - no, we didn't have the time for a cutscene of Seath enceasing you in crystals and the Channelers throwing you in prison or something instead
>and yeah, you respawn at a completely different bonfire instead of the one you previously rested at
>yeah, you have to attack through bars here
etc.
is the pc version fine to play or should I just stick with console.
fine with dsfix
Gotcha, thanks.
Remaster
>Remaster
I don't know if the remaster needs the fix even
DSfix is only for PtDE. Remaster has great performance and unlocked resolution by default, but fricked up the lighting.
Doesn't DSfix frick up game speed and jumping distance?
You need to press a button to cap the framerate when you want to jump or use ladders
It's a very meta experience
Which PC version? PtDE needs DSfix and has weird performance sometimes, remaster is identical with console.
the areas are a bit worse on average thereafter but nowhere is that bad
who cares what you, I or someone else thinks?
The lava areas look like they were thrown together in a couple hours, but it's fine mostly.
Not really, even the "bad" parts of DS1 have their own charm. The addition of the Artorias DLC also kind of invalidates the complaint since it's pretty good and you can just save it til last.
TOTG is completely fine and Duke's is serviceable enough, the Crystal Cave is a fun gimmick. Lost Izalith is the only objectively shit area since you're just trekking across flat empty areas with nothing there.
>trash
No, but the quality does drop. Without serious reworks to boss locations, there’s also almost no way to really “fix” its issues either, disregarding the blatantly unfinished lost Izalith. It stops becoming a metroidvania exploration system and instead becomes more level based like Demon Souls but with much less detail, especially since 90% of people will just teleport to Archives/Izalith/Tomb. New Londo is the only one of the four that works, and it’s entirely because you are not only exposed to the location early, but it’s very centralized and also tied much more heavily into the world in comparison to how linear the other three locales are. In a perfect world, there are no yellow barriers and teleporting is gone, but that also severely hurts pacing. Of the three locations, Duke’s Archives mogs Tomb/Izalith though.
Duke's archive is more metroidvania than anor lono
What a silly bullshit post
Duke’s Archive is essentially a hallway with a single double-helix in the center. You die (scripted), go through the two library segments (a three story hallway with a funny changing stair), and then out a passage (which has le secret lever in the same room lol) which leads to the crystal cave. While the gimmick with the stairs is cool, it doesn’t actually open up to more content, just a mimic and some sick gamer loot. I agree that Anor Londo is linear, but it is essentially the capstone to the adventuring you did throughout lordran, the peak of the proverbial mountain, culminating in the best pre-DLC fight in the game, whilst additionally having a hidden boss and a hidden branch to the painted world. Duke’s Archives is good, but is weighed down by being blocked off until the second half of the game and having a fairly middling final boss. I like seath but holy frick is he janky as shit.
And Anor londor is a single pathway with an elevator
>disregards the post entirely, even where it agrees that Anor Londo is linear
Yes, Anor Londo is linear. Good thing I was talking about New Londo, TotG, and Lost Izalith, you silly billy
sorry so which area was the capstone of the proverbial adventure in your post?
>capstone = non-linear
You know that an area can be a capstone and also linear, right?
You claimed you weren't talking about anor londo so what was the capstone? I was sure you were talking about anor londo
>but it is essentially the capstone to the adventuring you did throughout lordran, the peak of the proverbial mountain, culminating in the best pre-DLC fight in the game,
completely subjective.
Honestly I found Anor Londo vastly overrated and mostly boring.
The bottom area is a huge tease which actually betrays one of the best things about Dark Souls
areas you can see you can go visit. In Duke's archive you see the outside and you get to the outside. In Anor Londo you see the city but you don't get to it
dogshit area the more I think about it.
>areas you can see you can go visit. In Duke's archive you see the outside and you get to the outside. In Anor Londo you see the city but you don't get to it
How do I get down to the city below the graveyard?
you mean where you fight capra?
Capra is over there.

have fun
so in the same kind of area?
Don’t compare it to demon’s souls. Demon’s souls is the most nonlinear game in the series
No.
Duke's is fun.
Tomb of The Giants is kino, if very short.
Lost Izalith is, of course shit.
New Londo is atmospheric and unique.
3/4 of the Lord Soul areas are good to Great, and the Kiln is a nice capstone.
The people that say DaS goes downhill after Anor Londo are the same people that claim Blighttown is bad, despite being one of the best areas in the game.
STOP FRICKING HATING TOMB OF THE GIANTS
IT IS KINO AND ATMOSPHERIC
SKELETON DOGS ARE SCARY
not being able to see shit its not scary
New Londo > Duke's Archives >> Tomb of the Giants >>> Izalith
>lost izalith
Clearly unfinished area and bed of chaos is objectively one of the gayest bosses ever, but you can run through lost izalith in like five minutes and if you know how to cheese bed of chaos then he’s not a problem.
>new londo ruins
Decent area, probably one of the better areas in the game actually. Technically you can do this section at any time, so doesn’t necessarily come AFTER anal rodeo, but that’s how most people will play it.
>tomb of the giants
Easily one of the best areas in the game. I actually wish it was longer. Skeleton dogs are a bit overpowered too.
>duke’s archives/crystal cave
Easily the worst section in the game and idk why it doesn’t get more hate. It’s extremely tedious, especially if you want the fire keeper soul, and that section i crystal cave with the gold golem and that slippery path is pure bullshit. This is what it’s like to go through sen’s fortress:
>run to the top of the level
>forced death by Seath
>run to the bottom of the prison
>run to the top of the prison
>run to the area before crystal cave
>get the key
>run all the way back to the prison
>run to the bottom of the prison
>grab the fire keeper soul
>run to the top of the prison
>run to crystal cave
>die trying to dodge the golem because of bullshit slippery ledge
It’s even worse if you want the blue titatine slab and the avelyn which are the two most obnoxious items in the game to get. Also, if you want logan’s shit you have to buy all of his spells then run back to the room where you first died to seath. This level is a horrible backtrack-fest. It’s pure garbage.
>duke’s archives/crystal cave
>Easily the worst section in the game and idk why it doesn’t get more hate.
Couldn't agree more, thank you
but for real new londo is hell and is just made to run through
i dont know how many fricking times i died to ghosts
what a shit area
The last time I died in new londo ruins was when I was trying to rush the composite bow at the start of the game. This section is easy as frick once you’ve beat it once or twice
very true
The DLC and possibly Darkroot Garden are after Anal Rondo so I'd say overall the content is decent with some major low points. Really it's just Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith dragging the whole thing down. Catacombs and Tomb are good aside from the bosses, Darkroot Garden is good, New Londo is OK, Duke's Archives and Crystal Cave are OK aside from Seath deleting your FPS, DLC is good, and Gwyn is a fun boss fight
>and Gwyn is a fun boss fight
???
?
????????????
No, plebs just didn't get the pacing that sped up
It's mainly just Demon ruins and Lost Izalith. People that don't like Giant's Catacombs were filtered.
once you've done it once it's way too fricking short and boring
i never got past anor londo.
get black knigth weapon. it didnt drop? reinforced club. gg ez. baby ass game.
Fun levels in Dark souls:
Undead burg and parish
depths
blighttown
great hollow and ash lake
painted world
catacombs and tomb
Sens
bad levels in dark souls:
entirety of DLC
Anor londo
Demon Ruins
>Everything past innocent baby stage in life is trash
Sadly too true
I like giant's tomb and I consider catacombs post anal rodeo
