All of them having grass doesn't make them the same.

Anime styled games like in your pic do not allow exploration to be a reward of its own, because the anime art style is bland and emits stillness. A game like Witcher 3 feels real, like you're looking at an actual forest, and it allows the imagination to run wild as you're riding/walking along simply soaking in the atmosphere. Anime style games do not let your imagination run wild, what you see is what you get objectively speaking due to the art style itself disallowing depth even if you do make a thick forest.

Truer words have never been spoken.
Weebs have a fascination with everything looking the same i guess

You mean, Witcher 3's bland overdetailed forest leaves no place for imagination to work, while less-detailed styles require you to think at least on the very base level to turn abstractions into the actual forest.

Yes because directly rending real life objects into a 3d plane isn't the very essence of bland and stillness. Fricking moron

I have no clue what the one below nier is, but it looks completely differetn than the others and you have to be insane to say its similar.
Nier itself also has modern skyscraper ruins, which make it look different than the others too.

    based OP
Making your starting area generic open grasslands is lazy.
We need more risk-taking in exploration games.
We need more games that the player actually -wants- to explore because they have an intriguing and unique world, not simply because of skinner box game design.
