I'll admit I got surprised when her Meowscarada used Throat Chop and pretty much negated my Skeledirge's entire movepool. Although the battle is still pretty trivial, even if you're not overlevelled. It's annoying that they didn't bother giving the Paldean trainers a proper doubles team with items, the Blueberry Academy had some decent difficulty with all the double battles and trainers that actually used some sort of strategy.

This makes sense with Souls and the like, a series that has high difficulty, an unfair world, and plenty of struggling as a big part of its identity. The existence of a souls easy mode would go against this game design and make Souls less Souls to those who select it, defeating the point. This doesn't really hold up the same way with pokemon, unless they think the games being babyshit for all players needs to be an essential aspect of pokemon's identity. Despite the fact that online comp pokemon is sweaty as hell. They tried a higher difficulty mode before anyway, just implemented terribly.
