I do like the Switch a lot. But I hate asymmetrical sticks. People defending asymmetrical sticks can suck it. I don't care what system or controller we're talking about. Symmetrical sticks are superior.
I never understoond people who think having both thumbs on the sticks is a resting position.
I always keep the right thumb on top of the buttons unless actively using the right stick.
Symmetry doesn't fricking matter ergonomically you colossal moron.
The 'problem' is the switch stick being too low to comfortably hold the device. Except it's not a problem because stick + button games are far more common on switch than two-stick games.
Is the Steam Deck more ergonomic overall? Yes, obviously, but the switch is more portable. There's always going to be a tradeoff there.
It's literally just a matter of people playing different games and being too moronic to think for a few seconds.
id agree if the joycons were thicker, but they feel like shit both attached and detached. Nintendo has exclusively been making cheap chinky creaky kids meal toy controllers since the wiiu, and dont you dare try and tell me the pro controller is an exception to this rule.
>look at community deck controller configs for classic games >highest rated builds are literally missing key buttons or has 0 mouse function
how the frick do people play these fricking games with these configs? theyre unimaginative at worst and fricking useless at best. Oh you played a crpg with no fricking mouse input? Yeah im so sure....Swear theres some underground community config gaming going on
every time i make a config, i make it my mission to add pretty much every every hotkey in the game also i generally add gyro and IF I CAN, i make a DualShock 4 version of the config too, since it has most of the input options the Steam Deck has
and let me tell you, making a civilization V config WAS A PAIN, because the full list of hotkeys are NOWHERE in the internet, i fricking looked
i made the only config for Age of Wonders Shadow Magic (last i checked), i made a Legend of Grimrock 2 config im very proud of, finished the game with it, i think i made the most complete config for rollercoaster tycoon (original not classic edition)
also, if you have a dualshock 4, i made a config for Metal Gear Rising that makes the controller glow red when you activate ripper mode, just for shits and giggles
in first party switch games you use the right thumb primarily for the 4 buttons not the analog, parallel sticks are most useful for fps and sony cinematic goyslop tps. doesn't really matter on the 'eck because it's designed to be comfortable, you don't have to lower your thumbs to reach anything while you play because it's bigger, that's why people find it ugly
i wish the joycons were bigger.
My thumbs cramp up after a while.
I don't know how people play for hours on end.
I end up using a regular ass controller.
Even Nintendo themselves told you to "frick off, our focus is on kids" years ago when the public was begging for shit like Call of Duty and half nude adult focused games. Your fat ass fingers wasn't really meant for the Nintendo Switch. Now go squeeze the coating out of a Twinky into your mouth.
Nintendo sacrificed single player handheld ergonomics for the Famicom nostalgia gimmick of every system coming with two controllers for single system multiplayer,
>right joycon stick sits in the very middle of the controller so p2 is effectively cucked not only with a shit controller but a bad layout as well
BRAVO SHITTENDO
Shit like BotW would be unplayable on the deck unless you're a moron who likes to stop doing anything while moving the camera. The Joycon are perfect outside using the same shitty sticks everyone uses.
yeah but that makes it wider
More power and better screen.
It can even emulate Nintendo Switch.
What sector of society would suffer if people who like symmetrical sticks were to disappear?
I do like the Switch a lot. But I hate asymmetrical sticks. People defending asymmetrical sticks can suck it. I don't care what system or controller we're talking about. Symmetrical sticks are superior.
nah
I never understoond people who think having both thumbs on the sticks is a resting position.
I always keep the right thumb on top of the buttons unless actively using the right stick.

People who only play CoD.
I don't care about that but Deck has touchpads and a sexier console-tan.
If you prefer asymetrical sticks then you're a pleb who never plays 2D. Or worse, you play 2D with a fricking analogue stick.
just ordered hall effect sticks for my deck, bros. hella excited
What I've gathered over multiple of these threads is that a lot of people seem to believe you never use the face buttons at all when playing 3D games.
in 3d games (specifically fps) I use my index finger for the buttons so I can keep moving the stick freely with my thumbs.
Valve needs to hurry up and release the steam controller 2.
Dumb rationalization for cucks.
Controllers are either comfortable or they aren't. They both are, end of story.
Frick Nintendo.
Go clean your finger nails frickhomie
you may be a Black person but Freesia was such a nice game from a slightly better time
You have incredibly shit taste in vidya.
joystick positions don't really matter, my hands fall asleep with both the switch and the deck
but at least with the switch there's the option to detach the joycons so your hands don't fall asleep from holding the monitor
id agree if the joycons were thicker, but they feel like shit both attached and detached. Nintendo has exclusively been making cheap chinky creaky kids meal toy controllers since the wiiu, and dont you dare try and tell me the pro controller is an exception to this rule.
my Wizardry 8 config is almost done, i wish i could control my control config autism, but it is what it is
that being said, i think i mightve made the game more comfortable than on PC, altough the controls are very complicated
also i learned how to do the "Halo run" in pretty much any game
>look at community deck controller configs for classic games

youre a good man, Ill keep an eye out for your configs (so that I may tweak them to my liking)
i made the only config for Age of Wonders Shadow Magic (last i checked), i made a Legend of Grimrock 2 config im very proud of, finished the game with it, i think i made the most complete config for rollercoaster tycoon (original not classic edition)

well i guess its more of a call of duty run, its just that i got the idea from playing halo infinite
basically start running by pushing the stick and pressing L3, and only stop running after the stick moves to a resting position
Hey.
Hey you see those buttons
Those buttons on the right
Sometimes you have to push those buttons to play video games.
In fact you have to do it pretty often.
More often than using the right stick.
The right stick is mostly just camera control.
So for any video game that isn't a first person shooter
The bottom one is better.
Thanks
Nintendo has tried symmetrical sticks twice now with the Virtual Boy and the Wii U, so don't hold your breath for them doing it again
Valve won
>valve won
>by releasing a console that's on track to sell less than the vita
Lmao
>moving the camera more than. Pressing action buttons
Nice movie game
pic related is a good balance of the two. Not too big like the Deck, not too cramped like the Switch.
>no trackpads
this.
>oh cool, over half of my library is a disgusting unplayable mess now!
Let's hope this thread is less of a failure than the one that just died.
designed for tiny jap hands
people say this but i have tiny hands and my hands still get numb after playing some switch games for too long
The one on the bottom is for children.

This is Xbox design, 1 stick up, 1 stick down, right? The one EVERYONE SAYS is...THE BEST for console games.....
So Switch uses it....and it's.....BAD?
Both are terrible at being handhelds.
The Steam Deck even more so because at its size, what is even the fricking point when laptops exist?
Xbox kiddies were a fricking mistake.
It's because the controllers come off and need the joystick on the left to control movement you morons
i wish the joycons were bigger.
My thumbs cramp up after a while.
I don't know how people play for hours on end.
I end up using a regular ass controller.

Having buttons farther apart is bad for reactivity.
Why did Xbox call their shoulder buttons "triggers" as if the controllers were fricking firearms?
