DOOM is unironically one of the most interesting shooters I've ever played, and gives a great glimpse into the beginnings of the FPS genre. It and DOOM II have extensive modding scenes, going back 30 years, with simple and complex mods that can change almost the whole game.

I've beaten all of these but Morrowind. I could never get into that game because the combat fricking suucks even when you're not missing all the time
