Destroying other player extends your maximum heath/boost and fully fills the gauge. In the other other webm the player manages to kill three other players right at the end and take the first place.
In one of them, a foxgay is being denied his recovery for the lap, which means his boosting is severely limited.
In the other one, a Goosegay is enjoying a chain of KOs. The first one saves his ass because knocking an opponent out = free recovery = free boost. And he just keeps refilling mid-boost thanks to the additional KOs, catching up with the person in first place and wrecking them, too.
I try to do this to every machine when I'm playing Goose. I'm hoping as we get more basic maps that show up in 99, the Fox will get worse or it gets a slight nerf to something.
i'm having enough fun just watching streams of a game i liked when i was a kid.

>finally be first place in the 4th lap as Goose in Death Wind I >start to hit one red bumper in the last corner >get overtaken and bumped to death by places 2-5
Yeah, I need a break now.
>have won like three times as Blue Falcon >they each increase the number on my namecard >but because they were GPs or Team Battles, they don't count towards getting the golden skin
This is bullshit. I get Team Battles not counting, but GPs should count. Especially the first race with no health boosts.
I dunno. I got a gold and black skin for my Golden Fox from winning a 99.
But I've never done a 99 win with any other machine. They've all been GPs and Team Battles.
I have played a lot during work time but I've been a bit busy as of recently, I'd rather just enjoy my races without worrying about getting more work in the middle of them.
>Try watching the F-Zero anime, check out the dub on a whim >4Kids localize protag from Ryu Suzaku to "Rick Wheeler" to appeal more to burger kids >His girlfriend is still called "Haruka"
What was the point? Also how is this guy an F1 champ AND a cop?
>Also how is this guy an F1 champ AND a cop?
That's not really much of a stretch in the F-Zero universe. There's quite a few pilots in the game that are soldiers/cops.
I don’t get how they can do that when people just get fricking blown up and killed all the time in these things. It’s like making your hobby fist fighting bears in the woods.
It was always a moronic idea though. Pikachu is the most popular mascot in the world or close to it, which proves they never needed to do things like change its name to zaprat or whatever they might've tried. Localization has almost always just been thinly veiled xenophobia.
Localisation didn't alter the name "Pikachu" because they didn't want to redub all the times it said its own name, which was spoken with more frequency than the rest since it was a main character. The other pokemon were changed to convey the wordplay of the originals, hence why we get "Charmander" rather than "Hitokage" etc.
Human characters have no such excuse. Either commit or don't bother.

sure, but my point was that kids had absolutely no trouble getting attached to "Pikachu", in fact there are basically no other characters kids have ever grown as attached to as they did to the electric rat.

Yeah, it never really made sense to localize stuff too much or be choosy like that. Kids aren't stupid. They can understand the concept of different cultures and the names that go with them. Most kids encounter different cultures and names every time they go to school.

Am I doing it right?
Sting Kings. With the upcoming release of Queen League our time to shine is near. How will you celebrate your 1st place? I’ve got a bottle of White Land Ice Wine that’s aged nicely.
is there a reason in-universe as to why the races have walls that fricking explode your machine, or red bumpers that explode? does that kill the person inside it? is it just for fun?
The F-Zero Committee, the folks who made the sport, are bored multibillionaires that got rich off of interstellar trading. They wanted to create a brutal sport to add excitement to their lives, funded it themselves and the galactic populace, once angered at it, became more bloodthirsty for it
So yeah, you can see these type of people being like "yeah throw exploding cars on the track, shit would be wild". There's always been a dangerous element to these races.
The races even in the original had like 30+ racers, and mostly driving shitty cars. Only technological limitations prevented this from being realized. The bumpers and red bumpers are the stragglers that you're lapping and are just clinging to life.
the idea of a 99 race seems pretty accurate as something that would happen in universe, most likely its seen more as demolition derby than future f1 racing, so the obstacles make sense i think.
>decide to finally try GX on emulator after 99 igniting F-Zero fever in me >even Dolphin struggles to emulate the fricking thing, Sand Ocean alone causes issues on almost all machines
What the frick
You have to adjust the settings of Dolphin in order to run GX properly. Sand Ocean in particular has so many particles that it causes the emulator to chug to a halt.
dicky-UOH is one of the best players on there and I swear the one race I noticed he was in there with me was the best placing I've ever had as a nowins shitter.
WOW. GREAT.
ANOTHER RACE FRICKING RUINED BY LUCKY BUMPER.
AWESOME.
LETS DRAG THESE PEOPLE OUT BY THEIR, INFRONT OF THEIR FAMILIES AND SHOOT THEM.
I'M BARELY JOKING.
WHY WOULD YOU NOT SELF-DESTRUCT IMMEDIATELY LIKE I ALWAYS DO
I'M ANNOYED WHEN I GET IT. I JUST WANT TO MOVE ONTO THE NEXT RACE.
FRICK YOU
I agree that lucky bumpers are just kind of unfun. It's stupid to have some guy who already lost the race spawn in front of you with the sole purpose of trying to frick you and everyone behind you up harder then the constant spawning of explosive bumpers do by the end, often times blocking the only safe gap between them.
Because crashing with other players is part of the fun, if the game wasn't fun besides when you get 1st place then why would all 98 other contestants bother? Because the act itself is fun.
How many of the racers are NPCs? I'm starting to think at least 50 are fake and just there for positive reinforcement, and to make the Switch netplay look good.
there is literally ZERO fricking reason for them to dilute the player count with bots randomly when you could have games full of players

Its more like more machines adds more cosmetic rewards from playing them which adds more replayability and customization. And re-balance the meta I guess.
i mean i wish shit was just skins in the first place. everyone have the same stats if you want to avoid the meta shit
but yes ultimately id rather have new machines
if you play as Blue Falcon without using a blue skin;
or if you play as Golden Fox without a yellow or orange skin;
or if you play as Fire Stingray without the fire decals;
or if you play as Wild Goose;
you're soulless
Golden fox shouldn’t exist I’m tired of it
I’m tired of the baby tracks being played because it makes it impossible to catch up if you’re not driving the shitter mobile
It's a machine from the Japan-only SNES games called "BS F-Zero". All four of the BS machines are basically just better versions of the original SNES ones, so yes it's just a better Blue Falcon.
I want like four more machines tops. The many customisation options mean that players need to be able to tell what ship they're dealing with at a glance, which works well enough with the current four, but if you bump that up to nearly fifty total ships it's going to be far more difficult to readily understand what you're racing against in a 99-man race.
Do you know how annoyed I'd be if I was told they'd be adding more machines and it was the goddamn Maximum Velocity ones? Keep those things in the trash.
half of those don't even make sense
like grippy black bull and great star
or slow hyper speeder
or slidey white cat
and they don't go into specifics of hidden stats like acceleration, turn-in and boost cost
It's interesting how Fire Stingray has spent decades on top as the undisputed best machine of the original F-Zero, only to find itself having the most difficulty coping with '99s packed races. Its lack of durability is probably its biggest shortcoming, since it also informs its total healthbar and thus overall boost amount.
It finally clicked. I got to the top 3 of a grand prix and have been consistently getting top 10 in most races today. I've finally arrived Wild Goose bros and it only took 20 levels...
Bumpers spawn relatively to first place right? Twice, TWICE, on Mute City I was in first and needed to recharge and two grey bumpers spawned in a way that blocked me from immediately getting into the pit bay, so both times I ended up crashing out. Another time a red bumper basically turned into me, although to fair in that case it was the part where you can boost over gravel so it was following the road, still cost me the win
You are just bad. Bumpers spawn in the same spots, in the same sequences, at the same times relative to 1st, every time. I know the exact bumpers you're talking about and you can squeeze between them and the course edge. Git gud.
They take some practice to properly avoid, but once you've had enough experience dealing with them you kind of start zoning them out. Keep at it and it'll click before long.
>place top 3 in 4/5 courses as Falcon >crash out in Silence due to lucky bumper lining up perfectly with red bumpers in the big chicane after the jump
all I had to do was survive in the top 10 and i'd have won the GP, but I refused to sandbag for skyway since I'd spent 30 minutes practicing it and let my 2 second lead get to my head
only White Land 1 and Port Town 2 are available from pro tracks; need to wait for queen/king league likely to be added in piecemeal updates before we can get the rest.
I'm looking forward to Fire Field
>tfw can't consistently get a KO in a race
Sometimes, I even whack, nudge, or boost into a smoking grey bumper, it explodes, and it doesn't give me the KO.
My best advice for grey bumpers is to not actively aim for them unless they're 1-shot or you're on a long-enough straight that you can confidently get a KO. Sometimes it's worth skipping the pitlane to get a bumper because you'll usually not be interrupted
>99+ win Golden Fox
Any tips for Big Blue? It's the only track of the standard I really struggle with.
I agree Silence isn't awful but I had to practice on it before I felt comfortable.
Yeah Big Blue is a struggle track on Fox for sure. The skyway on it is really powerful even for players who aren't aware on how to utilize it so you just have people dumped on you 24/7. I rarely ever place 1st on it. My advice is to boost early and get ahead as soon as possible, especially cutting the corners across the gravel section. But if people start to overtake you and you can't fight it, just play conservatively and get a skyway up to make the most of it.
My brain only registers to "blast boost" as Falcon when I'm like Top 3 at the end of a race, and I suddenly start playing like a god.
But otherwise, I just hit every wall.
require which type of turning? just doin practice and learnin blast boostin but usually im so used to sting ray and just shoulder drifting these turns while deaccellerating
If you could balance the machines, but you couldn't do nerfs, how would you do it? I'm thinking that Falcon having higher recover would stop him from being the worst machine
Everything comes down to your line.
If holding full turn doesn't get you on the apex, start sliding, if that isn't enough, start tapping slower or faster, if that isn't enough, let go of gas entirely.
unless helpful anon who was here yesterday can fill me in too i dont know either unless i practice a track with a certain type of turning only
but tryin to drive perfectly is so mentally exhausting at times
i understand it completely. its like in fps games and irl where turning corners you want to be on the outside for better coverage
thanks for the image though. still tryin to figure out turns with goose though comin from stinggay
but with tapping you slow down slightly
you should only slow down on a turn if you absolutely must, otherwise take a better line so you can maintain top speed
The trick is to start turning before the turn actually comes up then brake to align yourself before you accelerate again to avoid hitting a wall. Also works if you boost instead of brake.
yeah, that's one of two places I boost on Falcon on Sand Ocean - that first tight hairpin and the second more generous hairpin just because you'll naturally be at lower-than-top speed from the long turns preceding it. If you get a KO or get to Sand Ocean with a lot of boost, you can also cut across the barrier on the very first turn, since that puts you at 42X if you take it sharp and 43X if you take it wide.
Autists who have been nolifing from day one still joining GPs in the first fricking second to sweep with a perfect score. How is this still fun for you? You really can't sit one GP out and let someone else have a chance?
Slowing down on skyway actually has a purpose for low-recovery machines. Skyway has longer energy pads than ground level, so if you release throttle you can suck up a lot more go fast juice than you would normally and then get back up to full speed immediately and for free as long as you don't let it run out.
>Skyway has longer energy pads than ground level
if this is true then I really wish I knew this two weeks ago, I've been holding my super boost every time I came up to the pit area because I didn't want to go through it too fast
Finally won my first GP bros. Feels so good since my last GP finish was 2nd. Though I almost feel like it was ez mode since aside from me no one was as consistent (I only got 2nd, 4th, 12th, 2nd for the first four races) and I got 1st on Silence only because the dude in first crashed out on the bumper right before the finish line. That might not have put me below second anyway because my score was high but that was also my first Silence 1st as well as GP. A little bitter, but frick it we take those.
>try to boost my way to top 20 >See my meter empty >Decide to stop accelerating on sharp turn >Try to get away from other racers >Machine is smoking >Fellow stingray also smoking crashes into me >Double K'O >get badge >mfw
>implying
I'm more afraid of some random B+ rank player that practiced the hard tracks than an S20 with 99 wins that did nothing but Mute City and Big Blue for seven days.
>Ehh might as well do the miniprix >Ehh might as well stick around until the next miniprix, only 12 minutes >Ehh might as well stick around for the grand prix, I'll do some races in the meantime
They fricking know how to keep me playing
better than you at least. you think it's the upcoming events that keep you playing but it's just the game being fun and you looking for an excuse to play more.
>have a minor commitment tonight >actually fristrated I have to stop playing and miss a (singular) GP
Bros, it wasn't supposed to become an addiction.
I was only going to play till I won once...
I was only planning on playing it a couple times to laugh at how moronic and unplayable I assumed it would be, and now I've put in more than 15 hours total, which is insane when you consider each race is like 4 minutes long.
Just watch
Nintendo will release the bs versions of the 4 machines but they'll be locked to you winning enough times with the original machine
I see it happening
questions:
1) Does holding L/R before a turn change the nature of the slide? Does double tapping it change it? Does pressing and holding L/R during the turn produce a different outcome?
2) Pressing up or down at ramps is done while in mid-air or just before the jump?
3) Does every direction input reduce your accel/speed? Does a drift reduce speed more than a direction input?
1. I'm pretty sure the slide behaves the same regardless of whether or not you were already turning or leaning before going into it but don't quote me on that.
2. Hold it as you're going over the ramp. It's inverted, hold down to jump higher.
3. All types of turns slow your vehicle down if held for too long. You'll notice it when you hear the screeching noise. If you rapidly tap to turn it might slow you down less. The exception to this is stingray which doesn't slow down at all on turns if it's already going at max speed.
>Does holding L/R before a turn change the nature of the slide?
You're machine will cut very sharply and suddenly if the button matches the turn button. You have to be holding the button sometime before the dead input. Seems useless to me. >Does pressing and holding L/R during the turn produce a different outcome?
You turn sharper >Pressing up or down at ramps is done while in mid-air or just before the jump?
You can alter the angle of your jump at any point during the jump. If I'm trying to get the highest jump possible I usually start to hold down just before I go over the ramp >Does every direction input reduce your accel/speed? Does a drift reduce speed more than a direction input?
For the most part yeah, for some machines more than others. A max speed stingray won't lose speed though.
mute city is the best course to crash out on in the GP. Take big risks to get good placement, do whatever you can to take KOs and if you die in the process whatever man. Staying cool in mute city is giving up on winning the GP
Good work! Make sure to get plenty of practice in on the esses so you can confidently go through it in a race
Thanks, I will!
I was scared shitless because it was my first time racing on Silence so I took every turn very cautiously, and it payed off, I managed to complete the race at a decent position. But damn, it's a brutal track.
wtf i still haven't made it to silence because i keep gettin ranked out on DEATH WIND
That was me until last GP. Just keep at it and you'll make it, my friend.
>Silence
it's a brutal track just to do cleanly, and then it gets flooded with grey, red, and those FRICKING lucky bumpers
Crashed out in a GP I was on score-pace for 1st in just because I underestimated the malice of those who lose before I do
>play team battle >Some homosexual tries to be 1st place and spins every moment he can even when there's no players arounf >his team loses
Funny as frick!
Goose is just a worse Stingray. He's slower and turns worse. People just like to meme about him because he's bump immune. The extra grip matters way more for winning Ocean, Port 2 and so on.
>Even on practice mode I struggle to beat 2:20 on Port Town II
Record is 2:19 atm Jesus christ I hate this track as Falcon. The chicane at the end always frick me up a bit I wonder if I should slide right as I turn into it.
This is the first 99 game made internally at Nintendo, rather than outsourced to ARIKA. In fact it's the first thing made by Nintendo Software Technologies that isn't "support studio" work or Mini-Mario shit since Project HAMMER got cancelled. Their next release is the Mario vs DK remake though, so right back to Minis.

Any remake done by the original dev team has my interest because there's automatically a vested interest in matching or topping the original. I love DK'94 so much but I'd never played the Mario vs DK series (mostly because I hadn't heard of it until the Minis thing was in full swing) so I'll keep an eye on the remake. May just emulate the original and save $50 but if it's above and beyond I'll support it. >Excellent journalism
I've just been making these dev profile charts as a hobby on and off this year.

1080 Avalanche and Wave Race on Gamecube were kino. It's a shame they got relegated to churning out Mario vs DK slop after Project HAMMER got cancelled. The game didn't look great but they didn't deserve that fate.
Hopefully FZ99 & MvDK remake get them back on track. That's two projects announced in one Direct, and they're the first actual games made by the team since the WiiU Minis titles.

Yup, it's not a modified SNES rom or whatever people assume, it's a whole new game and that's why it controls a bit differently.
Of course, the best control method is the one you're most comfortable with.

Doesn’t just touching the control stick unnecessarily slow you down?
Anonymous
No, only if you turn too hard or for too long. I just tested it on Falcon and making small adjustments even frequently doesn't slow you down.
Despite the aesthetics, 99 is mechanically its own thing within the series, and I think that's part of why it's so good. The control is based on SNES but with subtle differences, the boost system is pulled from later entries, the spin system, bumper types, the Skyway, etc. It's almost equivalent to Sonic Mania within the series, barring the battle royale gimmick tossed in on top of it.
I know this is a very late reply but the Jet Vermillion is my favorite machine in the series when it comes to how it feels to use. Mastering it is immensely satisfying.
>my dumb idiot ass crashed on Mute City three GPs in a row >take an hour break to do some house chores >decide to casually play 99 to end the day >instant 1st Place
yeah that sounds about like what it's felt so far, especially because i threw away a chance that got all the way to Silence and all i had to do was finish in top 10 without crashing and i still beefed it
This, basically get buffed in the back then use skyway to get to ~top 5, then boost to win.
Win condition can become impossible with a stingbro or fox gay way out in front.
Most tracks you gotta limit yourself to 2-3 boosts per lap. Learn the best spots to use the skyway. Winning is possible if you get that and a KO or two at optimal times. Your best odds will be on Sand Ocean and Port Town 2 if you're comfortable with hairpins. Mute City and Big Blue are possible but you'll have to play like a TAS bot and hope the Golden Fox that's ahead of you chokes.
>Big Blue
Is a Goose map. Super crowded and claustrophobic, powerful skyway, and there's always a swarm of POWER DOWN racers at the end of each lap who get obliterated by oncoming boosts
I play like a fricking madman and get 7th-13th at Big Blue. Mute City is over. Itsmy only win, but it's too cut throat now. Perfect play + KO + Skyway and I'm top 25 MAYBE.
Maybe that's the problem, you need to stop playing like a madman, you need to stop overthinking how to race that track, you only need to stay calm and seize the opportunities at the best possible times. Blue Falcon is good and I've seen a lot of people topping GP with it.
Like a madman just means perfect play. No walls, perfect skyway use. It's irrelevant. Whatever Falcons are winning GP are simply getting lucky or they're far far FAR more skilled than I am.
What's going on? I've been getting a lot of Top 3's in a row and even two first places in less than an hour and I'm not even trying. Maybe that's the trick, I just need to cruise.
That is the actual advice. Mute City and Death Wind are fricking free for Golden Fox. You literally just keep fricking boosting, no one can catch you and your meter basically refills to full every lap. You just have to get good at avoiding the red bumpers, which is what I mean by it becomes a single player game. You see all those Fox players with 99+ wins? It's almost all Mute City and Death Wind. You literally farm that shit if you're Fox.
this game needs an invictus mode like tetris 99 to shove all of the elite speedrunnoids into matches with each other to fight over some kind of shiny new prize
So what's the plan? So we hijack another thread or is someone linking a new one? I don't lurk Ganker often, not sure what the unspoken rules of this place are.

I don't understand what's going on in these webms, can anyone explain it to me like I'm a moron?
Destroying other player extends your maximum heath/boost and fully fills the gauge. In the other other webm the player manages to kill three other players right at the end and take the first place.
In one of them, a foxgay is being denied his recovery for the lap, which means his boosting is severely limited.
In the other one, a Goosegay is enjoying a chain of KOs. The first one saves his ass because knocking an opponent out = free recovery = free boost. And he just keeps refilling mid-boost thanks to the additional KOs, catching up with the person in first place and wrecking them, too.
he just did a burnout 3 takedown
bad ass
What are the requirements for the doc palette again?
Goose/Falcon: top 25 mini prix. Fox: 5000 league points. Stingray: doesn't get one, unless it's 9999 points, which is the last skin I need.
Isn't it just one of those "do 10 races" ones?
I remember getting it as like my first Goose skin.
this is the only acceptable way to win a race as a Wild Goose
fellow dose enjoyer
I try to do this to every machine when I'm playing Goose. I'm hoping as we get more basic maps that show up in 99, the Fox will get worse or it gets a slight nerf to something.
This alone is making me want to get a switch

This is bullshit. I get Team Battles not counting, but GPs should count. Especially the first race with no health boosts.
99 win is the hardest win for Falcon, change my view
Isn't Golden Skin when you win the GP? Black skin is from winning a 99 race.
I dunno. I got a gold and black skin for my Golden Fox from winning a 99.
But I've never done a 99 win with any other machine. They've all been GPs and Team Battles.
Are ya racing, anon?

You wait until the harder tracks come out because the current ones have too many easy and fast straightaways for Fox.
You can't escape
>smoke on machine
>hurr time to boost
what a moron
probably thought he'd get the skyway, considering it's stingray that didn't make an ice corner

I need more Racin music.
>strafing left and right can be done without turning
I feel fricking moronic figuring that out now
>Try watching the F-Zero anime, check out the dub on a whim
>4Kids localize protag from Ryu Suzaku to "Rick Wheeler" to appeal more to burger kids
>His girlfriend is still called "Haruka"
What was the point? Also how is this guy an F1 champ AND a cop?
theyre notoriously moronic
>Also how is this guy an F1 champ AND a cop?
That's not really much of a stretch in the F-Zero universe. There's quite a few pilots in the game that are soldiers/cops.
yea also in GX, aren't 2 of the racers a taxi driver and a mail man previously?
There's a surprising amount of characters that treat racing in the F-Zero GP as a side job or hobby.
It's like two thirds of the cast, more or less.
Wish Spade was better
A rank booster my ass
He also handles better than his E Grip
I don’t get how they can do that when people just get fricking blown up and killed all the time in these things. It’s like making your hobby fist fighting bears in the woods.
>and a mail man
two of them actually
one is a gamer
other is a gym bro with a kickass theme
Roger's my homie
He was somehow both BEFORE he got Futurama'd and woke up in the future. Did the writers just not know that being an F1 driver is a full-time job?
I did enjoy Aussie Jack Levin, though. That worked surprisingly well.
It's an anime, they never think about the real life impact
It was pretty common to leave certain names untranslated like Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh. They just want kids to be able to relate to the main characters.
>Localisation didn't alter the name "Pikachu" because they didn't want to redub all the times it said its own name, which was spoken with more frequency than the rest since it was a main character. sure, but my point was that kids had absolutely no trouble getting attached to "Pikachu", in fact there are basically no other characters kids have ever grown as attached to as they did to the electric rat.
Yeah, it never really made sense to localize stuff too much or be choosy like that. Kids aren't stupid. They can understand the concept of different cultures and the names that go with them. Most kids encounter different cultures and names every time they go to school.
YOU SUCK
CAPTAIN HOT DOG
>Also how is this guy an F1 champ AND a cop?
He just couldn't commit to one, so he decided he had to be awesome enough to do both.
is he related to Joey?
Hell, maybe. He's from 2051 originally.
This fricker grew on me like you wouldn't believe.
Why?
Even with the 4kids censorship I still got behind on his hateboner for Zoda and desire to slap down Jack every time he opens his mouth.

Am I doing it right?
YES! YES!
There's always been a dangerous element to these races.
>or red bumpers that explode?
The races even in the original had like 30+ racers, and mostly driving shitty cars. Only technological limitations prevented this from being realized. The bumpers and red bumpers are the stragglers that you're lapping and are just clinging to life.
the idea of a 99 race seems pretty accurate as something that would happen in universe, most likely its seen more as demolition derby than future f1 racing, so the obstacles make sense i think.
>decide to finally try GX on emulator after 99 igniting F-Zero fever in me
>even Dolphin struggles to emulate the fricking thing, Sand Ocean alone causes issues on almost all machines
What the frick
>he doesn’t play on original hardware
Pleb
I never got the game as a kid anon don't bully me
You have to adjust the settings of Dolphin in order to run GX properly. Sand Ocean in particular has so many particles that it causes the emulator to chug to a halt.
You haven't had to do that in years. How fricking out of date are your builds?
maybe they're on a laptop or an older pc?
For some reason boosting on split oval causes slowdown for me. Every other track is fine so idk why that one in particular struggles.
I just got two tied 1st place finishes right after another. Only screenshotted the second but you will have to believe me.
>uses Falcon
I choose to believe you.
>mute city I
>golden crux
If you want us to not believe you post the same with a Fire Stingray.

You didn't lose.
>a player named dicky-UOH was my rival

why is she so smug?
Full access to Shion tummy.
Fricking BRAT 益
dicky-UOH is one of the best players on there and I swear the one race I noticed he was in there with me was the best placing I've ever had as a nowins shitter.
I see that homie all the time, he's good
WOW.
FRICK YOU
just avoid them?
THEY ARENT DRONES moron.
still, just avoid them?
In any case, these aren't your real opinions.
Bumperchad here, you lost.
No, you lost.
I survived long enough to see the race turn into a farce.
>NOOOO I CAN'T DODGE THE BUMPERS THAT STRAFE AT 0.000000001 MPH GET RID OF THEM!!!
Skill issue
No 1st for you strafelet
skill issue
I agree that lucky bumpers are just kind of unfun. It's stupid to have some guy who already lost the race spawn in front of you with the sole purpose of trying to frick you and everyone behind you up harder then the constant spawning of explosive bumpers do by the end, often times blocking the only safe gap between them.
>WHY WOULD YOU NOT SELF-DESTRUCT IMMEDIATELY LIKE I ALWAYS DO
Because then I wouldn't get to make you so mad.
Because crashing with other players is part of the fun, if the game wasn't fun besides when you get 1st place then why would all 98 other contestants bother? Because the act itself is fun.
How many of the racers are NPCs? I'm starting to think at least 50 are fake and just there for positive reinforcement, and to make the Switch netplay look good.
when the countdown reaches 0 and there aren't filled spots, those are the cpus all getting added at the end
so like 2-3%?
No, not just that. I think it's trickling in fakes while the humans are joining too.
you're entering schizo territory bud
But you can't prove I'm wrong.
there is literally ZERO fricking reason for them to dilute the player count with bots randomly when you could have games full of players
Bad netcode
It's a theory
theories still require proof, verified by others through testing
Think about it. That's all I'm saying. If they do it for empty lobbies, why wouldn't they do it more? They already have the code.
Think about it logically.
logic isn't enough you buffoon. lots of things function in ways that aren't inherently logical to us. you've given no evidence, and neither has anyone else making the same claim. therefore, you are gay get fricked nerd
Think logically about my penis entering your butthole
You're really doing this again? Don't you ever sleep?
Someone else thinks this? lol. It's my first time sorry
>But that's just a theory... a GAYme theory.
Burden of proof falls on the one making the claim, moron
I wouldn't doubt ~10 machines on average being cpus, but what does it matter, you're not in 90th place are you anon?
I think half of all players in a room are NPCs.
are you the same guy who brings this up like almost every thread
even then, you're not consistently behind top 25 right? 50 real people is a good number i'd say, being behind top 50 is not a good look whether they are real people or not.
The burden of proof lays upon those making the positive claim of specificity.
Are they given fake names to mimic real players? I've only ever seen a player named CPU 01 once.
>CPU 01
That's most likely a real player
>Mythic octopus
>Dan
>Infinity
Those are most likely bots
Yeah, they're not up front about it like Tetris 99 and I find it annoying. I'd rather them just call them CPU# and be honest about it.
how should i be turning with the GOOSE?
im used to stingray grip
>read a Goose strat
>dont boost, look for kills
>do that, get 2 KOs third lap
>giant full meter lap 4
>boost the whole time not fricking up
>easily get first place first try with this strat
So this is the power when the Goose is loose.
Stop lusting for evil women.
Why did the F-Zero anime have so many top quality babes in it?
anime at the turn of the millenium was great
now it is pozzed

>get overtaken on the finish line
>disqualified
Should gone on that Skyway ride, huh? Or taken a look at the upper left corner of the screen.
I hope we get an update that adds new machines.
yeah nerf fox, buff falcon and stingray
Its more like more machines adds more cosmetic rewards from playing them which adds more replayability and customization. And re-balance the meta I guess.
i mean i wish shit was just skins in the first place. everyone have the same stats if you want to avoid the meta shit
but yes ultimately id rather have new machines
Where is Mew2King?
Is he safe?
Is he alright?
I saw him on Sunday on a GP, he’s just fine.
he finally went to bed today and his body prob shut down completely and he woke up sick
I cannot win a 99 race as falcon
It’s not fair I’m so upset
I believe in you..!
if you play as Blue Falcon without using a blue skin;
or if you play as Golden Fox without a yellow or orange skin;
or if you play as Fire Stingray without the fire decals;
or if you play as Wild Goose;
you're soulless
I do all of these.
Golden Fox should be played with a shining gold skin. Nothing else.
As a Doc Stewart it’s cool to see Gorocels have to pretend its a balance problem. They got exposed hard.
Golden fox shouldn’t exist I’m tired of it
I’m tired of the baby tracks being played because it makes it impossible to catch up if you’re not driving the shitter mobile
Wait for Queen Cup. Just a few more days.
Golden Fox wouldn't be a problem if there were more ships. Don't nerf what's there, just give us more options.
can't wait to switch my blue falcon for a blue thunder. there doesn't seem to be any downsides other than a slightly worse recovery, am i wrong?
It's a machine from the Japan-only SNES games called "BS F-Zero". All four of the BS machines are basically just better versions of the original SNES ones, so yes it's just a better Blue Falcon.
>Bullshit F-Zero
Take it up with Nintendo of Japan circa 1996.
I want like four more machines tops. The many customisation options mean that players need to be able to tell what ship they're dealing with at a glance, which works well enough with the current four, but if you bump that up to nearly fifty total ships it's going to be far more difficult to readily understand what you're racing against in a 99-man race.
>it's going to be far more difficult to readily understand what you're racing against in a 99-man race.
Good. Increase the chaos.
this but unironically, who gives a shit about "readability" in a game where the middle of the pack is 60 people bashing into each other
Do you know how annoyed I'd be if I was told they'd be adding more machines and it was the goddamn Maximum Velocity ones? Keep those things in the trash.
Maximum velocity was the best F-Zero GBA game though.
half of those don't even make sense
like grippy black bull and great star
or slow hyper speeder
or slidey white cat
and they don't go into specifics of hidden stats like acceleration, turn-in and boost cost
Finally won my first 99 race.
Congrats!

What does one use Y to do? Brake?
Brake? Y would you do that?
Only use is for when you pass by someone that's inches away from death and you need some boost power.
People use Y???? I just tap B over and over when I want to slow down.
Or stopping in the heal lane to full up.
I guess.
I dunno, does that work?
Great fricking idea. I’m gonna try Stingray again.
Well deserved Goosechad
Anyone else having connection issues or is it just me at the moment?
I already unlocked everything for Goose but it's such a fun playstyle...

Thread theme
Wait, it loops? I thought it ended after the detonation timer.
The closer to first you get the more red bumpers spawn.
Golden Bumper is a big guy
bump
It's possible
big if true
big if blue
In theory, if 'big if blue', and the Blue Falcon is blue, does that mean Falcon big? Does Captain Falcon big big? Or big Blue Falcon?
falcon has the biggest heart
Even I can feel the power.
>By your powers combined, I am CAPTAIN FALCON!
Captain Falcon, he's our hero
Gonna take the gold cup from F-ZERO
To the pack he's gonna fly
And he'll race right out the other side
Yet, I always seem to miss his ass.
4u. 4me he's a homosexual who spawns directly above me, drops behind me, and swerves out of the way if I approach him. The bastard hover-hands me.
>place top 3 in 4/5 courses as Falcon
>crash out in Silence due to lucky bumper lining up perfectly with red bumpers in the big chicane after the jump
all I had to do was survive in the top 10 and i'd have won the GP, but I refused to sandbag for skyway since I'd spent 30 minutes practicing it and let my 2 second lead get to my head
how do i unlock the part 2 of courses? pro tracks on fomo?
only White Land 1 and Port Town 2 are available from pro tracks; need to wait for queen/king league likely to be added in piecemeal updates before we can get the rest.
I'm looking forward to Fire Field
>ranked out on death wind gp AGAIN
I KEEP CHOKING AAAAAAAAAA
happens to me all the time. i dont frickin get it. hit all the boost pads and still ranked out. guess im just too conservative with boosts as stinggay
>tfw can't consistently get a KO in a race
Sometimes, I even whack, nudge, or boost into a smoking grey bumper, it explodes, and it doesn't give me the KO.
Learn how to kill fresh gray bumpers on a straight. Once you know how to guarantee it, you can start pooping on GPs.
The system is pretty bad. It just doesn't award kills sometimes.
My best advice for grey bumpers is to not actively aim for them unless they're 1-shot or you're on a long-enough straight that you can confidently get a KO. Sometimes it's worth skipping the pitlane to get a bumper because you'll usually not be interrupted
This. I can win races easily, but I can't get the 5 kills medal.
Is there a specific strategy for this?
is IT'S OVER /here/?
What's the worst map for Golden Fox?
Port Town and Silence. They also seem to avoid Sand Ocean, but that might just be a side effect of voting for Mute City/Death Wind no matter what.
Port Town easily
99+ win Golden Fox here and it's Port Town.
Silence is actually pretty good because of the low topspeed making the turns easier.
Thanks for the advice.
I'm still a nowin shitter but I've gotten 2nds and 3rds so 1st is close. But with Big Blue I'll just focus on not crashing.
I always just decelerate and never drift. Am I moronic?
Learning to drift is going to help you immeasurably.
My brain only registers to "blast boost" as Falcon when I'm like Top 3 at the end of a race, and I suddenly start playing like a god.
But otherwise, I just hit every wall.
still tryin to figure out when to tap accel as turning, drift and accell while turning, letting go of accell and turn etc as GOOSE
Couple turns on Port and Sand Ocean require it.
require which type of turning? just doin practice and learnin blast boostin but usually im so used to sting ray and just shoulder drifting these turns while deaccellerating
If you could balance the machines, but you couldn't do nerfs, how would you do it? I'm thinking that Falcon having higher recover would stop him from being the worst machine
Basically just give him a single point in any stat. Recovery, grip, etc.
Falcon just needs to lose less speed when turning.
Stingray could do with having its boost cost reduced slightly, just to give it more options.
Falcon getting slightly better recovery would be good. Stingray's boost cost should go down a little bit too.
What are your top 3 tracks from the game, bros?
>Red Canyon 2
>White Land 2
>Mute City 2
>Big Blue
>Mute City I
>Death Wind I
I never got any further in the SNES game because I sucked.

does certain actions do more damage like spinning? still dont understand it. does boosting into people do more too?
Why do so many people spell Stuart wrong?
Because his surname is spelled "Stewart" everywhere but the SNES manual.
Why does so much of F-Zero's source material spell Stuart wrong?
Dr.Stewart you're frightening me.
Pit's closed due to fire and stingrays and fire stingrays
I'd be down for an F-Zero track with a some kind of ray on it, like maybe a Hotel Delfino course with the giant ghost manta ray fricking up your track
Private lobbies when, I want to be racist with all of you without having to queue at the same time
How the frick do you win in 99 mode with blue falcon? It's the only craft I still need the black paint job for, and I haven't seen the podium in days.
>How the frick do you win in 99 mode with blue falcon?
You don't.
You can.
Play clean wait for frick ups.
KOs
just b urself
Play pro tracks, Falcon is solid on Port Town 2 and White Land
pro tracks doesn't count as 99 mode, anon
idk how to take corners wtf what mix of tapping acceleration, drifting and braking is optimal AAAAAAHHHHH
Is captain falco on the newest smash?
Uh did GP Weekend just start?
...On a Tuesday?
It was just an announcement.
a simple explanation since some people playing this game don't seem to understand the concept of racing lines
i understand it completely. its like in fps games and irl where turning corners you want to be on the outside for better coverage
thanks for the image though. still tryin to figure out turns with goose though comin from stinggay
I can take the one on the left and still exit like on the right with tapping
but with tapping you slow down slightly
you should only slow down on a turn if you absolutely must, otherwise take a better line so you can maintain top speed
Wrong. Exit speed is what decides everything.
I boost after the turn and exit at top speed
>dropped from 450 to 250
the only car that can pull off that line is stingray, and if he did he'd drop from 470 to like 420.

CARLOS!
The trick is to start turning before the turn actually comes up then brake to align yourself before you accelerate again to avoid hitting a wall. Also works if you boost instead of brake.
Let's be real, the only correct line is this one
??
#justgoosethings
That fricking Sand Ocean turn I can only do with Falcon if I am on the outside and let go off the gas entirely Otherwise it's bumper city.
Falcon SUCKS at wide turns.
yeah, that's one of two places I boost on Falcon on Sand Ocean - that first tight hairpin and the second more generous hairpin just because you'll naturally be at lower-than-top speed from the long turns preceding it. If you get a KO or get to Sand Ocean with a lot of boost, you can also cut across the barrier on the very first turn, since that puts you at 42X if you take it sharp and 43X if you take it wide.
Wait, can Falcon take the Mute City hairpin without slowing down if you take the turn this wide?
Autists who have been nolifing from day one still joining GPs in the first fricking second to sweep with a perfect score. How is this still fun for you? You really can't sit one GP out and let someone else have a chance?
Fricking losers man holy shit learn to play
Should I just full send it when on the skyway regardless of corners and stuff? Seems like you can without losing speed.
pls respond
I have never slowed down on a skyway ever.
Nice one, I've never got a kill on the skyway but that looks so satisfying
Slowing down on skyway actually has a purpose for low-recovery machines. Skyway has longer energy pads than ground level, so if you release throttle you can suck up a lot more go fast juice than you would normally and then get back up to full speed immediately and for free as long as you don't let it run out.
>Skyway has longer energy pads than ground level
if this is true then I really wish I knew this two weeks ago, I've been holding my super boost every time I came up to the pit area because I didn't want to go through it too fast
I practically spawncamped a guy today.
He dropped on top of me from a skyway, and I just spun and instantly killed him in front of the finish line.
PAIN.
I've accepted not getting any golds.
For me it's the Stingray.
I can't win a GP with that machine.
>take a turn
>homosexual car bumps into me
>drop 60 km/h instantly
This is literally the last paint job I need. Fricking Knight Cup, man...
Me, but with the goose. I haven't won a single GP with any car though
It’s honestly fricking impossible when you’re dealing with people who have a billion wins
You need to pray that they frick up and die so you can win
>got the gold gp win falcon
>don't use it
I just like my char custom falcon with pink boost fire too much. Gonna need more than a off color yellow to win me over.
Watching these lil hover cars racing is so fricking charming idk how they made them so fricking cute.
because they look like riced out roombas.
>in first
>everyone fricking up behind me
>full send it to finish line
>it's not over
>there's one more lap
>I'm Stingray

Practice mode should have an option for endless laps and bumpers included.
There should be a lobby mode where you can just join a specific group like Mario Kart 8

I know that feel, got me own second place just yesterday, and got another shortly after.
We'll get our first soon, my friend

It hurts more than a little.
>didn't take the outside ramp

The outside ramp was covered by the other one. They coordinated this massacre.
OH COME ON
Why do you keep jumping at their height?
Hold down to jump higher. You also land smoother and maintain your speed.
That's the max jump height, anon.
I TRIED GOING THE OTHER WAY THIS TIME OFFICER
>That's the max jump height, anon.
Bumpers only use the normal jump height, and the max height is well above that, so I know you're lying to me.
YOU GONNA LEARN. YOU GONNA LEARN TODAY
it's even funnier the second time
I'm so sorry anon but that's hilarious
I was in first place in the mini prix. I could have won it all.
Please press the L and R buttons I am begging you
I'm never sure when and where they're going to magically turn midair.
I hold down on every jump, my man. Dunno what to tell you.
>Magically
THEY FOLLOW A LINE ANON, A SIMPLE LINE! LIKE A TRAIN ON A TRACK
I'm aware, but my brain doesn't register "these things are going to turn midair" until it's too late.
A little bitter, but frick it we take those.
>winning a GP because the person that would have beat you crashed out
>try to boost my way to top 20
>See my meter empty
>Decide to stop accelerating on sharp turn
>Try to get away from other racers
>Machine is smoking
>Fellow stingray also smoking crashes into me
>Double K'O
>get badge
>mfw
Worth it. I envy you.
I finally got first bros
The Goose is loose
Keep going, you need 99 more until people can't tell how good or shit you are
>implying
I'm more afraid of some random B+ rank player that practiced the hard tracks than an S20 with 99 wins that did nothing but Mute City and Big Blue for seven days.
No shit
I feel like I just hit 99 races let alone 99 wins
nice tv screenshot black guy
Im gonna kill myself if I dont get a first place before the next Grand Prix, I just cannot take it anymore
Just a reminder that you have two minutes to live
I'm the only person here who unironically likes Team Battle
It'd be better if it had more chaotic tracks instead of boring shit like Death Wind 1. Imagine 99 people squashed together in Silence
I don't see the point of playing team battle when you could just be playing 99 and getting skins/achievements for it
>skins/achievements
The only one that matters is the 1st place GP one and Team Battle has unique skins/achievements anyway.
I like it.
I sometimes do it as a lil breather
>Play TB as Goose
>Just hang around in the middle of the pack killing stray homies and getting bumper/spin points.
I AM CREDIT TO TEAM
I like farming first place finishes on it
I only played it for the red painjob, i guess i could give it an unironic try if it ever shows up again.
This, I really like how the Blue Falcon looks with it too.
Every ship looks good on red but red stingray is my favorite.
>Ehh might as well do the miniprix
>Ehh might as well stick around until the next miniprix, only 12 minutes
>Ehh might as well stick around for the grand prix, I'll do some races in the meantime
They fricking know how to keep me playing
Yep, it makes 2+ hours fly by real fast.
better than you at least. you think it's the upcoming events that keep you playing but it's just the game being fun and you looking for an excuse to play more.
>have a minor commitment tonight
>actually fristrated I have to stop playing and miss a (singular) GP
Bros, it wasn't supposed to become an addiction.
I was only going to play till I won once...
I was only planning on playing it a couple times to laugh at how moronic and unplayable I assumed it would be, and now I've put in more than 15 hours total, which is insane when you consider each race is like 4 minutes long.
How the frick is Clint Stevens of all people so good at this game
Anyone getting ready for the next Grand Prix?
Just watch
Nintendo will release the bs versions of the 4 machines but they'll be locked to you winning enough times with the original machine
I see it happening
schizo brain
Got 1st with Fox and Goose. Stingray blows ass.
You turn sharper
>Pressing up or down at ramps is done while in mid-air or just before the jump?
You can alter the angle of your jump at any point during the jump. If I'm trying to get the highest jump possible I usually start to hold down just before I go over the ramp
>Does every direction input reduce your accel/speed? Does a drift reduce speed more than a direction input?
For the most part yeah, for some machines more than others. A max speed stingray won't lose speed though.
>3 crash outs in GP's Mute City in a row
What's wrong with me? It's like one day I play like I'm a expert and then the next day I go full moronic.
mute city is the best course to crash out on in the GP. Take big risks to get good placement, do whatever you can to take KOs and if you die in the process whatever man. Staying cool in mute city is giving up on winning the GP
I did it, my friends... I finally unlocked silence.
damn even Corn has Glue Power
YOU GOT GLUE POWER
Thanks, I will!
I was scared shitless because it was my first time racing on Silence so I took every turn very cautiously, and it payed off, I managed to complete the race at a decent position. But damn, it's a brutal track.
That was me until last GP. Just keep at it and you'll make it, my friend.
>Silence
it's a brutal track just to do cleanly, and then it gets flooded with grey, red, and those FRICKING lucky bumpers
Crashed out in a GP I was on score-pace for 1st in just because I underestimated the malice of those who lose before I do
Good work! Make sure to get plenty of practice in on the esses so you can confidently go through it in a race
wtf i still haven't made it to silence because i keep gettin ranked out on DEATH WIND
Nice!
>play Team Battle
>team loses no matter how well I do
Every fricking time, man.
For me I always lose when I'm in green team for some reason
>play team battle
>Some homosexual tries to be 1st place and spins every moment he can even when there's no players arounf
>his team loses
Funny as frick!
I FINALLY FRICKING DID IT BROS
>winning a grand prix
>with a car that isn't the Golden Fox
Congratulations Goosebro. You did Pico proud.
>reporter shaking in fear
>Pico just looks and sounds like an absolute dork
Yeah him mentioning the battlefield sounds less like a space soldier reminiscing about war and more like he is really into 40k
Why is he bouncing around like he just took a fistful of speed?
you just guessed the answer
I think you just answered your own question
Feels good doesn't it?
I’m starting to read between the lines and actually account for the other racers paths.
>goose
>fox
You didn’t win
I'm gonna say it
Goose is just a worse Stingray. He's slower and turns worse. People just like to meme about him because he's bump immune. The extra grip matters way more for winning Ocean, Port 2 and so on.
I've never seen a stingray win a prix. I've seen geese the most.
Goose has better boosting and therefore gets much more mileage out of KOs than the Stingray.
MOTHER FRICKER I GOT KO'D BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE LAST LAP AND I USED ALL MY ENERGY
Kek, what a stupid homosexual. Same here.
IT'S OKAY I WON BIG BLUE AS GOOSE WITHOUT GETTING A KILL JUST NOW SO I FEEL BETTER THANKS ANON
>oh, that was last lap?
>ends game with 70% boost like a dumbass
I am the opposite or something.
Are the servers shitting the bed?
I'm going to go the rest of the year under a certain amount of crashes. My own personal achievement in playing a lot and not crashing
>Even on practice mode I struggle to beat 2:20 on Port Town II
Record is 2:19 atm Jesus christ I hate this track as Falcon. The chicane at the end always frick me up a bit I wonder if I should slide right as I turn into it.
I got 2:13 by using the Fire Stingray.
That's cheating.
Do people use the control stick?
Yes, the game has analog steering and it's very useful.
That very much surprises me to hear. The game didn’t originally play that way.
It makes sense when you realize it was built from the ground up in Mario Odyssey's engine. It's a full 3D game with 2D assets.
That’s insane. Really? I can’t switch to control stick though. I’ve already won with d-pad like ten times.
>Bionic Commando GB
>Mario vs Donkey Kong GBA
>Pokemon Puzzle League
>Metroid Prime Hunters
no wonder all of these were so good and so strange. I grew up with all of these
Excellent journalism. No wonder Mario vs. Donkey Kong is getting remade. Despite loving TTYD, I feel way more validated by Nintendo that they’re remaking that.
It’s an informative and illustrative style. Nice.
Thanks man. The first few are rough but once I fell into the "top left is their oldest, then snake around" format I started really liking the process.
Hopefully FZ99 & MvDK remake get them back on track. That's two projects announced in one Direct, and they're the first actual games made by the team since the WiiU Minis titles.
1080 Avalanche and Wave Race on Gamecube were kino. It's a shame they got relegated to churning out Mario vs DK slop after Project HAMMER got cancelled. The game didn't look great but they didn't deserve that fate.
Yup, it's not a modified SNES rom or whatever people assume, it's a whole new game and that's why it controls a bit differently.
Of course, the best control method is the one you're most comfortable with.
Doesn’t just touching the control stick unnecessarily slow you down?
No, only if you turn too hard or for too long. I just tested it on Falcon and making small adjustments even frequently doesn't slow you down.
Despite the aesthetics, 99 is mechanically its own thing within the series, and I think that's part of why it's so good. The control is based on SNES but with subtle differences, the boost system is pulled from later entries, the spin system, bumper types, the Skyway, etc. It's almost equivalent to Sonic Mania within the series, barring the battle royale gimmick tossed in on top of it.
I am proud to say that I unlocked this thing back in the day when I was a wee lad, also beat GX's story mode on very hard and unlocked every ship.
I know this is a very late reply but the Jet Vermillion is my favorite machine in the series when it comes to how it feels to use. Mastering it is immensely satisfying.
Where’s my Stingray’s at?
Right behind you, 20 places behind in fact.
Queen cup when?
12 hours 26 minutes
Source, my uncle works at Nintendo
there any coom material in fzero?
>my dumb idiot ass crashed on Mute City three GPs in a row
>take an hour break to do some house chores
>decide to casually play 99 to end the day
>instant 1st Place
Call me an SCP because I'm a goddamn anomaly.
[REDACTED], I kneel
trying to get the black blue falcon skin will just kill your enjoyment of the game in one play session
black? you don't mean the GP 1st gold skin?
no that one is for killing yourself
yeah that sounds about like what it's felt so far, especially because i threw away a chance that got all the way to Silence and all i had to do was finish in top 10 without crashing and i still beefed it
Fox nerfs when?
play PAL Melee he’s a bit worse there
https://twitter.com/LukewarmHoliday/status/1705419685095727271
so is the biggest protip for getting the falcon 99 win just "pray for buffs"? is sand ocean decent for him?
Falcon needs at least 2 real player KOs (not bumper KOs) to win.
Whatever Falcons are winning GP are simply getting lucky or they're far far FAR more skilled than I am.
>rank 25
>no Ws
it's over
>Ram into smoking opponent with boost
>They don't spin
>They also don't blow up
It's the little things that make me the most angry
Nope, that's it.
I CANT FRICKING GP WITH FALCON
I'VE BEEN FILTERED
How many times out of ten do you crash out? I crash out probably 7 out of ten times.
>t. Golden Fox player
Correct. I won with Goose today for the first time but I just can’t let go of boosting.
What's going on? I've been getting a lot of Top 3's in a row and even two first places in less than an hour and I'm not even trying. Maybe that's the trick, I just need to cruise.
Is using the Skyway cheating?
You literally can't win with Goose or Falcon without using skyway unless you're playing against 98 opponents significantly below your skill level.
It's necessary
Golden Fox is the only Machine I have yet to get 1st Place with, how do I do it?
>play Mute City
>boost and keep boosting until it becomes a 1 player game
Ez
Actual advice please
That is the actual advice. Mute City and Death Wind are fricking free for Golden Fox. You literally just keep fricking boosting, no one can catch you and your meter basically refills to full every lap. You just have to get good at avoiding the red bumpers, which is what I mean by it becomes a single player game. You see all those Fox players with 99+ wins? It's almost all Mute City and Death Wind. You literally farm that shit if you're Fox.
Why are they so smug
>Fox gays pick mute city or death wind
>Again
do the needful
I literally never pick those maps because I'm sick and tired of winning on them.
>Sand Ocean? No can do friend-o! MUTE CITYYYY!!!
Stingray kinda sucks
Yeah. I concur.
How do I race as anyone besides golden fox knowing I’ll never get my boost back if I don’t get a KO?
You play around skyway instead
this game needs an invictus mode like tetris 99 to shove all of the elite speedrunnoids into matches with each other to fight over some kind of shiny new prize
>speedrunnoids
Bruh it's literally a racing game. We're all speed running.
Speak for yourself. I'm ass.
The skill gap between Fzero 99 newbies and pros isn't even half as big as tetris newbies and pros.
?si=s1UKhQ7jXt0cFBoa
Yup
>Big Blue II
>Silence II
>no Sand Ocean II
>top place in mini prix is level 94 fox
sometimes i wonder why bother
So what's the plan? So we hijack another thread or is someone linking a new one? I don't lurk Ganker often, not sure what the unspoken rules of this place are.
Let the thread die and someone will eventually do a new one. Start linking threads and they'll get deleted because they'll be considered generals.
Falconbros have it the hardest
