as for the reboot, I understand the impulse since moving any further in time from III and you're getting awfully close to cowboy times. that would have probably been a bad idea since red dead is still popular and did it best. gameplay is the main thing. if it's still fun to swordfight, avoid getting hit, getting that bonus xp, and flourishing guy's heads off, I'm sure I'll have fun.

There are lots of benefits to Anniversary. Having glowing Will marks like Maze, getting gear to dress like various heroes, JoB included, the modern control scheme, better map, etc.
It's got problems, especially in terms of art direction, but it adds a fair amount to the original experience as well.

There is no point in continuing a series that shit the bed arguably right after the first game. And again, many would say even the first game wasn't all that great. The game is straight up in the latter end of the industrial revolution. Fable 4 set in a timeline just after the old Hero died would have placed it in the equivalent of 1910-1930 of our world. I don't want fricking noir themed post world war Fable.
Why not have a during world war Fable? Or a Revolutionary Fable where you can pick between monarchy and revolutionaries? I mean in today climate it would be shit but it still would be interesting.

I will never get why fable was a popular series. They looked like shit, They played like shit, The story/characters were shit.

The puzzle doors in the first one were pretty near.
It had tons of shit to do and see and cast
but fable 1's gameplay is fine. They also looked fine for like 2002 xbox or w/e it was.
Fable 2's was fine too, if a little easy and needing more spells.
I never felt the freedom I felt in fable 1 in many other games. Being able to murder towns folk, buy up their homes then rent them out at a high price is just fun and the game has lots of stuff like that. I replay fable anniversay like once a year at least.
I know this is an extreme take, but I'm going to wait until we see any actual gameplay and learn about the game beyond a cinematic trailer with like 5 seconds of pre alpha fire balls shown, before I make any judgements one way or the other. But what I have seen does not inspire confidence.

Not even protagonist but the fricking giant narrator is disgusting and hideous. Who is this game for? This shit is a an atrocious deconstruction, mockery and and insult to our European heritage, our mythology and folk tales.
I'm legitimately disgusted at this point and it just shows with me buying less and less video games and playing the same shit for years. I am not hyped for anything, I am not even looking forward to anything. It's all the same bullshit with shoehorned identity politics, inverse narrative, bloatware time sinks, no challenge and just being insulted or schooled by the hack writers for being who you are.
I find myself enjoying older games lately and I just got myself a Switch and falling in love with Zelda series. I was really pleasantly surprised with BotW. What a breath of fresh air to see a game that doesn't assume you are a moron and respects you and your intelligence as a player.

Fable 2 and 3 had nothing to do with William Black or the Court so what difference does it make? Every game was essentially a reboot besides Theresa which they did frick all with besides I believe killing her in Journey.
The HBL is a descendant of the HOV and receives aid/is raised by from Theresa not to mention in the love ending Scythe takes care of your sister after she comes back to life. The connection is obvious even if you don’t want to acknowledge it.
Can't wait for NPC's to non stop talk and tell jokes like a really shitty marvel movie.
