Finally played this one because I was butthurt over bethesda after Oblivion. Holy shit, this game is so creatively stale. It brings nothing new to the setting, just shoehorns ideas from Fallout 1 and 2 into the West Coast and ties it all up with a boring story and characters.
Fallout 2 and New Vegas all brought in new factions and lore which still somehow fit well with the atmosphere of the previous games. The only somewhat fresh ideas here were that bomb-worshipping cult and the vampire clan and yet they're taken nowhere.

>Best side quests in entire series
>???
>?
XD
You're right, however, you must proceed here Wrong board.
The entire game is new to the setting ypu fricking simpleton, it took the series to the big east coast cities and different biomes.
As well as having what is regarded as the most faithful Fallout dlc in the form of the Pitt
Yeah, it brought the same exact factions as the previous games had to a different location. When we had a chance to see how different factions could have developed in this region.
The factions were changed appropriately to match how their circumstances were different.
>The Brotherhood, having actually seen the horrors of the wasteland, decide to ammend their mission statement to be more outwardly benevolent to the people
>The Outcasts are Brotherhood members who stuck to the old ways and left to form their own organization
>The Mutants without the master fall into anti-intellectualism where the few intelligent mutants are ostracized or imprisoned, meaning they have no leadership and are just desperately trying to find more FEV and captives to make more mutants
>The Enclave after loosing the Oil Rig abandons the plan to colonize other worlds and instead is trying to restore their power in America starting with DC
>President Eden still holds to the original Enclave goal of trying to exterminate the irradiated
I don't really care. It's still a lot of fun to play. On a gameplay level I prefer it to nv
>On a gameplay level I prefer it to nv
Black person how, everything about it is worse, including the gunplay
nooooo you have to love fallout 3 and be a contrarian since new vegas is good which means it's for troony normies noooooooooooooooooooo
I really don't understand how nv became the meme game. Nv is liked for it's writing which normies have never cared about in any game
Obsidian usually takes someone else's winning formula and makes it more appealing to normals
FO3 and KOTOR1 are the real mvps
>Fallout 3 is "less appealing to normals" than New Vegas
this is such contrarian cope
No it’s not? I love new Vegas but it’s the ultimate normie rpg everyone loves
Please explain to me how Fallout 3, a game with objectively simpler mechanics, questlines, morality, and storytelling is "less appealing to normies" than New Vegas. Saying New Vegas is a "normie rpg everyone loves" is completely subjective, and doesn't mean anything. Just because people have rightfully criticized 3 for its paper-thin storyline and fanfiction-tier worldbuilding, doesn't somehow make it a more appealing game to normies than New Vegas. Some things are disliked for a reason anon
>doesn't somehow make it a more appealing game to normies than New Vegas
*less appealing game
I'm a moron sorry
Not him but you gotta realize that the game you like isn't underground anymore. New vegas is more popular
I never said New Vegas was underground, of course it's a popular game. my point was that acting like Fallout 3 is some pleb filter just because people have begun to shit on it for how bad it is is fricking stupid
I dunno man I like it more from a gameplay level. I just like playing fallout 3 more.
kotor1 is way more appealing to normies than kotor2 what the frick

Was there any reason to be evil in this game?
There's like no reason to be evil in any game unless you're already not enjoying the game and the evil options let you skip tedious side content
You don't have to look at it as being evil
The games version of good and evil is like a sjw cartoon version
It's okay to blow up megaton. It's okay to wipe out the ghouls. It's o k
Systematically exterminating the species that ruined an entire planet for moron reasons is hardly evil, if anything, it could be considered a form of justice.
The fact that the vast majority you'll be butchering are mutts only adds to the righteousness.
>It brings nothing new to the setting, just shoehorns ideas from Fallout 1 and 2 into the West Coast
this isn't even true. the game can be criticised but not this way. frick off dude lol
>this isn't even true
It is true
>enclave
>super mutants
>fev
>bos
lmao
Well Fallout 3 had different goals then to 'add to the setting.'
Video games by nature of the medium, are more than just story, and what makes Fallout 3 a huge change for the franchise is how it changes the gameplay.
Fallout 3 is basically an adaptation of the formula of Fallouts 1 and 2 but brought into the format of an open world Action RPG.
It's also worth noting that Fallout 3 *couldn't* be radically different from 1 and 2 in setting.
Bethesda bought the series rights, and so they needed to have their first outing in the series not be seen as just them buying the Fallout name for brand recognition.
And since the gameplay style was so radically changed, that meant they needed to keep the setting the same.
Mutants, the BoS, the Enclave, the GECK, the Pip Boy, all of it was brought back to re-introduce a franchise which was dormant for years.
Bethesda also knew that Fallout 3 would be the first Fallout game for the vast majority of players.
Fallout 1 and 2 were niche titles which sold combined like 200,000 copies only
Fallout 3 meanwhile sold like 10 million units. So 98% of players of Fallout 3 would be completely new.
I agree, but to be fair the "bomb-worshipping cult" play a large part in Fallout 4--especially in Far Harbor so it's not like Bethesda abandoned them.
Ya
Bethesda games are generally bad
