Is it worth hitting yourself in the dick with a hammer? Imagine all the games you could have played instead of rolling around in the dumpster again with Todd.
I had fun as a lone scavenger, exploring the world for supplies, and building a shack for my character. Sometimes got slight stalker vibes. I remember rummaging through a gas station at night when a mutant patrol arrived, and my character had to sneak his way out of there.
Yeah it's good, depending on what you're looking for.
thats what you decided to come back with after being clapped. seethe. thats the best you could do. instead of even attempting to convince anyone that "Fallout 4 has slight STALKER vibes"
Its worth a pirate just to find out how bad the Fallout-Series has become under Bethesda.
Its Skyrim with guns. again.
Complete with interesting landmarks that look like they might be interesting from afar only to get closer, find out its another one-way corridor dungeon with randomized loot at the end.
>Its Skyrim with guns.
I fricking wish, for all of Skyrim's problems at least it basically presents an open world and says "ok, go make your own fun". FO4 would be an objective improvement if it was Skyrim with guns.
Don't pay for it but you can try it. It's the only game I'll give the >not an rpg
morons and they're not even in this thread lmao. It's more of a looter shooter with light role-playing elements
I recommend persons to come to conclusions on they are own.
What are you? Some kind of stupid Black person person that needs others to think of themselves?
Brooding small wiener man.

Reddit all over the board. You simply have to go back.
bro, it must suck being you and having all that crippling autism.
The rest of us realize that other people are individuals and have their own sets of experience and knowledge, knowledge that we can learn from. Each person doesn't need to start from scratch. We can inquire with others, and parse relevant information from their experiences. This both saves time, and gives us a foundation from where we can do more research and form a more thorough decision.
I liked it enough to play through it 3 times. I actually like the main plot, as it was more of a personal journey that relates to family. exploration and combat were fun.
my only complaint is that the world feels a bit cramped, in the sense that the map is small and packed with enemies and stuff. i was always getting into combat, when i just wanted to take a break and explore some empty buildings.
>i just wanted to take a break and explore some empty buildings.
I felt the same with the city area, there was too much action constantly. Having more peaceful areas in there would've improved it greatly.
only if you play on Survival
when you get bored of the tedium of no fast travel and no manual saves install the mods which allow you to do those while still in Survival, but go through the hobo phase withouth them because its fun
>Well at least Underrail is carrying on the top-down torch for us.
I bought this on sale for like $5 and want to play it, but the dev going out of his way to nerf shit in a single-player game and encrypt the files so that people can't mod the game or whatever the frick he's doing really rubs me the wrong way.
I loved fallout 3 and hated 4. It's literally just the same thing with better graphics but bethesda listened to the trolls on almost every issue regarding 3 right down to the >what do they eat?
shitposters, so now there aren't any towns out in the countryside just shitty little farms, no brahmin though, just vegetables and shit.
They literally just listened to every half baked criticism of 3 from trolls online and decided to build the whole game around that, even recycled the main plot from 3 but turned it around. Oooh so fricking creative.
I find it overhated, not underrated.
Because normies watched their e-celeb tell them they should shit on it, so they did jus that.
Reality is Fallout 4 is a decent game, but it should never be named Fallout.
Bethesda are ruining this legendary IP. Fallout is the only IP that i would put next to Baldurs Gate at S tier IPs for RPGs, but sadly Bethesda are ruining its legacy.
I want Bethesda to stop making Fallout games,
Fallout 4 is good for mods and open world exploration, things Bethesda games are good for, so its worth playing if you like that. i do so i like it.
Far from the quality of Elder Scrolls though, i think Bethesda should stick with that IP instead.
So yeah a mixed relationship with this game, but despite all that i still believe its a overhated.
Once you get all your bases set up in most of the areas and world building, mods, complete the main quest, and preston telling you the bases are getting attacked, etc, then it gets boring after awhile,
It's all good, it's a good game. Your post just reminded me how often some people shit on games they have hundreds of hours on playtime in. And they use mental gymnastics to explain how they didn't actually enjoy playing the game for days. >FO4 is dogshit and boring >Playtime: 150 hours >Fallout 1 is the BEST game ever made, true RPG!! >Playtime: 6 hours
i always find this argument interesting. surely the man who has played 150 hours would be better able to talk about the games pros and cons.
Most people who critique games do some from a place of love and want for the game to be better.
If someone played FO4 for 3 hours and said it was the best ever/worst ever then its stupid a stupid statement anyway. And of course its important to note that fun ≠ good. a game can be horribly made and yet still be fun to play depending on the person.
Playtime is relevant when evaluating games. Playing a game to the point of boredom will of course affect your view, or reveal cracks in any game. Therefore it brings bias.
Fallout 1 is excellent for one playthrough. Did it get better when I played it more? No, on the contrary.
For many, the point of games is to be entertained, to have fun, so 100 hours of fun would be a fricking good game.
Fallout 4 is essentially kill, loot, build, repeat. Once you get tired of that, the game doesn't offer much else. Mods can make the gameplay much better, but even then I believe modded Skyrim is still a far better experience.
In conclusion, no, either avoid Todd entirely or play what he made before Fallout 4.
It’s a enjoyable 6/10 experience that you can put hundreds of hours in with mods, the only part of the game I really enjoyed was far harbor(all the other dlc should be skipped especially nuka world) that’s mostly because the story I would say is at the very least decent compared to Bethesda standards and I love the setting, wish it took the inbreds from point lookout though
As an rpg? It was the worst thing Bethesda made until Starfield
As an open world shooter with some action-rpg mechanics? It's pretty alright. Not the best, not the worst, but I had fun even playing vanilla on launch.
I had a lot of fun playing it, but only after installing a fat load of mods. The story is moronic, but exploring the map and picking through ruins with some modded companions is pretty interesting.
>picking through ruins
The crafting system is such a great addition. Finding a box on some shelf full of lightbulbs felt as good as looting a good weapon lol
>Be player. >story is your character's spouse is killed, your son kidnapped. >some nutjob tells you to blow up the institute and kill your son. You play it where you do that. >Complain it's a poor role playing game.
Maybe we need to go over what it "Role Playing" is.
Fallout 4 is a pretty fun game.
Don't go in expecting a great RPG or story, and you'll enjoy what is there.
Fallout 4 has good gunplay, fun weapon improvement mechanics, great dungeon design, and a few solid quests.
The companions are (almost) all really fun with neat stories and character arcs.
The power armor is the most realized the series had seen up to that point.
The settlement system is fun to frick around with if you're the creative type.
There are some cute details and fun characters hidden in the expanse of Boston.
People hate on it because it was a sign of the Fallout series going down the wrong path, and nothing good has come of the series since. But, on it's own, it's one of the more fun games of the whole PS4/Xbone generations tbh.
I've given Fallout 4 several tries in good faith, and I just don't think it does a good job at fitting any of the game archetypes it aims to fit. >RPG
Horribly designed, there are perks every character has to have and the rest are pointless gimmicks. >Open world survival game
The game is too unstable to not be spamming quicksave every few minutes, which ruins any tension in survival mode. >Settlement building/resource management game
The game engine can't handle decent sized settlements. This is the easiest way to corrupt your save. >Fallout series game
I know lore autists hate this game but I don't really care enough to understand the details. >Loot and shoot/dungeon crawler
This is the thing it does best, and even then it's not great. The legendary enchantment thing is totally boring and the rest of the loot is literal trash that you're just going to dismantle to use in the save-ruining settlement system >Mod platform
Voiced MC with a predefined background and precombines makes this the least moddable Bethesda game.
>The game is too unstable to not be spamming quicksave every few minutes, which ruins any tension in survival mode.
What machine are you running the game on? I've never had the game crash, and I play with some mods too.
Its a looter shooter with some pseudo rpg elements. The controls feel laggy. The atmosphere is off, it doesn't feel like a Fallout Game. It feels like shooting some rednecks in the midwest. If you're looking for this kind of experience, voila - here it is.
Don't expect a Fallout 3 or NV successor.
Not him, but personally I just really don't like how Fallout 1 and 2 play, so even though they have better stories and atmosphere and writing, I would rather play Fallout 4
>Not him, but personally I just really don't like how Fallout 1 and 2 play, so even though they have better stories and atmosphere and writing, I would rather play Fallout 4
An honest opinion. I might disagree with you, but it's refreshing to hear someone on /vrpg/ not be a pretentious homosexual.
In terms of gunplay and combat, it's the best 3D Fallouts have been.
But it's worse in every other aspect, except for graphics.
If you're looking for a shooter, there's way better shooters out there.
If you're looking for an RPG, Fallout 4 barely qualifies.
The settlement building is buggy and uses shit mechanics to resolve the attacks.
I've started referring to it as >Half Measure: The Video Game
The survival mode is a genuinely good aspect of the game however. If you buy it for 75% off it's well worth that price, but then you'll live with the humiliation of having Fallout 4 in your library.
Just pirate it.
Fallout 4 had a lot of issues. I like playing in survival mode with a lot of mods though to offset some of the shit, the world feels more alive when you have to physically travel or use the vertibirds to get places.
I have about 30ish mods that make the gameplay better, you can fall deep into the hole of modding your female char to look like a bimbo but skyrim is better for that honestly
DLCs were pretty good, far harbor and nukaworld to be exact the others are pretty meh tier. If you don't have settlement building the mod simCities is pretty nice to just drop and forget.
overall 7.5/10, not better than nv, better than 3.
my main gripe with the game is the complete lack of choices both in dialogue and character development. Also the game shits on its premise by making you the savior of the commonwealth. With settlements intact and supply routes and guards and Vertibirds swooping in what game are you even playing? Wasteland my ass
If you can get it running decently, which sadly is harder than it sounds because this game was very specifically coded for the hardware of the time, meaning it now runs worse on newer shit.
Yes. If you go into it knowing you're not getting good RPG mechanics, good dialogue or even a good story and just using it as a platform for modding the game into a survival shooter exploration sim.
I personally find the exact opposite to be true. the game is 100% an rpg, and trying to play it as a shooter is incredibly unfun and frustrating. instead, just go all-in with the rpg mechanics. walk into fights with not a care in the world, and let your HP and DR do their jobs. casually use a chinese sword to decapitate people in vats. don't bother crouching or aiming for headshots, just spray and let your 10 AGI and LUK deliver crits on every enemy in your field of view. just have fun and let your stats and equipment do the work.
how much of this thread is OP replying to himself over and over? like what posesses people to do this instead of just playing the game? do you need people to tell you its okay to play the game?
That's probably for the best. If you didn't like Fallout 3 at all, then you won't like 4.
Now you may dislike 3, but thought it would have been good if the gunplay was better or whatever, then you would like 4.
No bethesda game is worth playing
yeah
no

Honey this is a Fallout 4 thread
Its OK as long as you get it on sale GOTY and modded Anon. 😛
Is it worth hitting yourself in the dick with a hammer? Imagine all the games you could have played instead of rolling around in the dumpster again with Todd.
Like which games instead?
Literally anything, just use the random game feature on steam. Doesn't matter what game comes up. It will be more mentally stimulating than this.
Morrowind KEK
That's the same "game".
I avoid/remove people on steam if I see they play bethesda games.
I had fun as a lone scavenger, exploring the world for supplies, and building a shack for my character. Sometimes got slight stalker vibes. I remember rummaging through a gas station at night when a mutant patrol arrived, and my character had to sneak his way out of there.

It's absolutely nothing like stalker
Oh, I didn't know you were the arbiter of truth.

This is why I never played Fallout 4. I didn't like what they did with 3, so chose to stop there.
Did you enjoy New Vegas at least?
Not really. I played it but never finished it. It was a little better than 3, but didn't grab me.

only thing failout 4 is good for is modding it into a sandbox game where you just flat out ignore the story.
Here
I don’t think so, no. I refunded it a while back because it’s incredibly boring.
I played it with sexmods and watched Piper get raped by black futa raiders. It was pretty good
Sounds like a good time. I'm convinced to give it a whirl.

It was just ok but FO3 was the best of the series, simple as.
FO3 is good like 16 year old whiskey, you gotta give FO4 some time as well.
