The trailer really gave me the impression that Boston might be something along the lines of a really disfunctional and crime ridden city, sorta like Goodneighbor. I think in that sort of setting the main story with Synths and the Railroad and all the other shit would work far better. You could have the Institute running it all from the shadows. I think it'd be a really neat setting, a kind of bridge between cyberpunk, post-apocalypse and noir.
Nah how about Ironside's flying ship vs the Prydwen. Instead of being used as a one time gag. Of course that'd be beyond Bethesda's coding capabilities.
They definitely should have focused on the noir stuff more.
you're 100% right and its sad playing F4 because while i do enjoy the gameplay, the writing is so bad and it makes me pine for What Could Have Been
agree with this definitely. the noir stuff is fun but they didn't focus on it enough. F4 should've been the noir-fallout to FNV's western-fallout
>the writing is so bad
It really isn't. It isn't the best ever but it is not bad either.
People parrot this shit nonstop because they can't form their own opinions and just spew whatever shit take they read online.
sorry Emil, you are just a frick up and you should respect your audiance more instead of stripping everything of substance down. There are good ideas in the plot about consciousness and memory and weather the memories make the man (ideas you took directly from Philip k Dick) but instead of doing anything interesting its just window dressing. Everything after Kellog dies is pretty much garbage
It’s hilarious that the plot of 4 is basically just the plot of NV done significantly worse, like Emil wanted to show Obsidian up by beating them at their own game but ended up playing himself
wtf are you talking about NV tard? 4 and NV are nothing alike.
Benny / Kelogg does thing for his own reason and you're unlucky to be caught in it, have to find Benny / Kid
>some man did something bad to you
lol nv gays really are idiots
>character does thing for his own reason
>MC interacts with said character
Wow, every plot since motherfricking Iliad is a New Vegas ripoff. Fricking obsididrones, i swear.
>lol these are nothing alike
>yes they are this is why
>woooow thats like every other western story!
no way
First half of the game is spent tracking down a man who did you wrong, after you deal with him you are sucked into a conflict between several groups who want to control an area and decide the conflict for them. Please explain how they are different.
>It really isn't.
I really is.
>People parrot this shit nonstop because they can't form their own opinions and just spew whatever shit take they read online.
You dont have to read that online, you just need to play it and then you know how shit the writing really is, you moronic bethesdadrone.
that feels like it was the original intention until they decided to shoehorn the settlment mechanic which has absolutely nothing to do with the main plot. in the end product why should i give a single frick about the institute infiltrating a stadium with like 15 people in it and a city block with 20 people in it. they try make you care with the "save muh son" copout but it just creates the same problem nearly every game has had in recent years, forced urgency that ruins the desire for players to actually explore the rest of the game or do side missions without feeling weird. sure you can just go ahead and do them, but it makes the plot a fricking joke that can be ignored and feels less important
To be fair “forced urgency” is in every fallout game.
NV doesn’t really, it’s not like you’re under pressure to find Benny and the second battle of hoover dam even happening is contingent on the minor factions and House being dealt with, until that happens the battle won’t happrn
you are under pressure to get the chip back you even have a robot annoying you about.
You neither need to retrieve the chip nor ever interact with Benny to complete the game
they do, but they are done much better. the previous games have their race against time but the time span is in months not days. Fallout 3 is probably the closest to 4 in this regard with the idea you are assumed to be hot on your dads heels only a day or two travel behind him. but heres where 3 does better then 4, for example, it can be feasibly assumed that while you are in megaton, liam neeson is on his way or with three dog and by the time you get to three dog and get black mailed into helping him, he is on his way or already meeting Doctor Li, but to 3's credit none of the dialogue at any of these locations implies any sense of time, they only confirm that he passed through so theres no feeling that you were wasting time while you were helping moira to get more caps to bribe moirarty.
4 on the other hand, and i suppose this was to try reinforce the ebin twist that your already too late, tries to keep you moving constantly to daimond city, and then fricks up by putting Danse and co in your path on a completly unrelated mission and tries to push you into the faction dynamics with offering you to join the brotherhood when this has nothing to do with the main quest, contrast to 3 where your diversion conceivably feels like your still working towards the main goal of getting past the barrier set by moriarty.
The funny thing is, it is not forced enough. F4 introduces MC that is running around screaming SHAUN and then basically forces the sandbox onto the player, suggesting to not bother too much with the main quest. But the character still b***hes about not finding SHAUN in the dialogues.
i would have deleted Shaun from the game, If they wanted to do a grieving husband story just have the wife kidnapped and she disappears with no real conclusion.
Would be nice. Fallout 4 was the last Bethesda game that I ever bought.
Is this bait or trolling?
the entire first half of NV is just the coffin willie encounter
The second half is red team vs blue team.
Satan wants us all
F4 makes me sad because it could so easily have been great. I’m sad thinking of what could’ve been. Emil and Todd deserve prison for their crimes against games
Fallout 4 should have been like True detective season 1 with Nate and Nick solving cases
also missed opportunity to have Nate be a cop and former friend of Nick
All conversely you were a serial killer Nick was trying to catch.
I thought for ages that was the "secret" in Fallout 4.
