I want highly customizable Vault suit aesthetics. Baggy, tight, unzipped, pulled down to waist, torn sleeves, armor overlay, etc.
This can probably be done as a F4 mod, and is a pretty good idea for one besides.
Yeah, there are some, but it's not typically an adaptive system that lets you pick and choose, and instead it's one alternative suit style modded in as an item.
Additionally I find most of the armors in Fallout 4 disgusting. Really wish they'd return to the more sleek design of previous games, particularly the simplicity of things like Fallout 1 and 2s Combat Armor.
Someone could make one replacement suit with all the alternate styles selectable via the armor modding table, though.

New Orleans indeed would be such a cool setting, but don't put any hopes on Bethesda actually making anything interesting.

Nashville does lend itself to some okay things, lots of musical inspirations, Opryland can be an endgame zone, big zoo right outside the city, mil base 30 miles down the road, nasty ass river filled with big ass cat fish, lots of railways and vistas in the cliffs around the city. Only issue is Nashville is small as hell, you've got like 8 hotels, the att building, and the bridge next to the nissan arena for a skyline.
St. Louis Id actually need to spend some time in to make a judgement on it, but everyone I've ever met from there has been an hoodrat that considers it hell on earth.

Make dialogue choices matter again, make the aesthetic styles of different locations more distinct. Other than that I don't really care, fallout 4 is fine. I don't think it needs any more core features, but they could be more impactful. Perhaps make the factions more active in that they can compete for territory and impact trade, maybe have a dynamic economy system with surplusses and deficits that impact settlement health / defenses / population.

its ferociously ugly in a way 3 couldn't even manage and was the least RPG out of any bethesda game (at the time) but its gameplay is pretty fun tbh. I know it never justifies shit decisions but bethesda games have always been nothing more than modding platforms for me and fo4 is the best for that at the moment

I just genuinely believe Boston looks so much worse than the DC ruins. 3 had a fairly uninteresting color gradient but 4 is so bright and washed out it hurts my eyes to even look at. Maybe its the higher average graphical fidelity that makes Boston's dogshit textures and fog stand out so much more

I appreciate that they were attempting to make the wasteland setting more colorful, but bright blue skies and rainbow colored paints/metals was the wrong way to go about it.
Could've done something closer to New Vegas where the place is a shithole but there's still some colorful plantlife and the actual inhabited cities are more vibrant.
Speaking of which, Boston is made of 99% bricks, and there's piles of bricks and semi intact brick buildings everywhere, so why does everyone Construct from sheet metal and ragged wood planks instead??

You are a moron and do not understand narrative freedom. There are countless reasons you could have been a mailman. There are very limited reasons you could have been a pre-war soldier who went into a Vault to save your wife and son who you then have to track down.
I genuinely didn't understand how people were praising 4 on launch. I started Fallout with Vegas, but I didn't find it as good as people seem to worship it as. You cant say the gameplay of running up to something and pressing m1 until it dies is good design, same with Skyrim

I get to that area with the power armor and everything is the same. AI moves moves the same, gets stuck just as often, you can run face first into enemies still, and it's already showing benign dialogue choices.
In Goodsprings you can easily kill the gunpowders that attack, but the town NPCs and game itself tell you to recruit everyone to help. They at least try to make it a realistic scenario. The very first thing the F4 protag does is wipe an entire group of raiders from a town and kill a deathclaw. Even if he's military he doesn't know wtf is going on. I would have at least been interested if the deathclaw actually beats you, but Preston shows up and kills it as it holds you down. That would show you that deathclaws are extremely dangerous, preston is actually somewhat competent, and reinforce that the protag just got out of cryo an hour ago.
Fallout 4 is really good. It didn't have the world like NV nor the role playing aspect but as a game its good, speacily with mod support. I wished the map was bigger and we had another area besides the main city or at least another town in the outskirts. One thing I didn't like was the atheistic, it was too warm with low rez muddy textures.
I dislike RNG legendaries and the way in which gun mods/systems work, same shit with FO76/Starfield. Uniques and interesting stuff in the world is tossed out the window, the best way to get "good shit" is to farm legendary enemies/vendors for legendary rolls. RNG gear means randomized perks, with no general theme/no thought placed to it. Oh cool, this new weapon I got is a... Pool Cue with +10% damage to Mirelurks, a 20% chance to block a melee attack, and -90% weight. The next thing I get is a 10mm pistol that gives up to 20% damage based on how many mutations I have, and +1 charisma. Wow, exciting.
Non-legendary gear? Well, go break down better versions of the weapon for calibrated/advanced/superior/strong version (just a higher base level) part of whatever gun part you want to improve, how engaging.
yea. RNG loot can only work in games where there is endless grind and the game play is actually fun enough to do eternally like nioh, or games like diablo/poe where you can just turn your brain off and grind with friends
Honestly don't like it in Nioh, it makes far more sense in Diablo/PoE/those kinds of games since that's the point, and you're grinding excessively in them anyways.

I'm fine with a blank slate and I'm fine with a defined character. Fallout 4 did the annoying thing where they half assed it, defining all of Nate/Nora's objectives and background but then leaving their character and feelings undefined, which results in just a very flat character.
They should have made the PC feel more defined and shown way more interactions to a "modern person" having to adapt to a wasteland.
