"Indefinitely" I'm guessing because they don't know how big Todd's update of F4 will be. The update drops on the 25th. Until they know how extensively he has fricked their shit up they can't know how long it will take to fix his mess
they probably just have no idea how long its going to take to adjust everything for the new update. indefinitely often sounds like permanently, but in this case they just can't provide a period of time for completion.
Instead of releasing the mod with a guide on how to freeze updates or downgrade using steamdb downloader or some shit, they chose to hold off releasing entirely because they are absolute fricking morons.
My honest guess is that some of them hope to get hired by Bethesda so they're trying to stay on their good side

The mod was supposed to be ready to release in a week. Anyone who actually cared about playing it would just not update their Fallout 4 or roll back the update. Definitely seems like they weren't actually ready to release just more false promises from DLC sized mod Developers
