    >In-universe in the fantasy world, real world 19th century weapons were innovated MUCH earlier in that universe's history and became more widely available to people of all races/colors/genders/creeds.
You're a fricking moron, you homosexual bigot.

It’s more fun when the fantasy world does have more modern tech but it’s only available to some.
Warhammer Fantasy does this pretty well actually.

The intelligent people with the necessary resources at the top have access to mages and magic conveniences.
Why would they spend their time help bridge the power gap between them and the peasants?

                barely relevant.
people build things because they can. people improve technology and designs because it makes building things easier or because they enjoy doing it and new technology gets shared and copied.

if you're going to have a medieval stasis, try to explain HOW society reached the medieval age to begin with.

chinese civilization barelly progressed technologically in 3k years until 19 century british conquered it.

Japanese spend 3 centuries where they forbidden any contact with the exterior.

There's uncontacted tribes that try to avoid contact with westerners.

The assumption that there's a linear progress is a western view.
Western people always assume there can't be other points of view on most stuff.

                >Western people always assume there can't be other points of view on most stuff.

Because other points of view tend to be stuff like Indians eating cow shit or chinks building stuff out of chalk. Or Russians being cursed by god to have a depressing aesthetic.

Have you realized that not everyone wants to live in California and new york?

The desire to live in a cubicle for 10 hours of everyday just to afford barely enough to feed yourself and not enough to have for a family or free time to spend in the town festival or living in a polluted city eating microplastics.

Would have been seem as an aberration to even pre XX century intellectuals.

                Tolkien literally despised industrial cities.

I mean you are right if I lived off of cow shit and bathed in a cancer river I'd probably spent less money living.

I could also just keep working 8 hours a day in a cubicle earning 40 times what some nonwestern earns living in a neo-medieval shithole.

The thing you're not getting is that fantasy comes from the middle ages. People during these times all thought magic was real on some level. These games are inspired by what they thought their world was really like.
