That fricking car ride. I tried beating the game on the hardest and while it was very difficult, I was able to get through it. Except for the fricking car ride, I don't understand how it's supposed to be possible on the hardest.
Of course it does. It's a 2004 PC game. That was the very NEXT GEN era, dawn of the DX9 games.
Doom3 showed off with fancy lights and shadows, HL2 cool physics sims and reflections, and FC1 beat both to them in terms of showing off normalmapping tech + more open ended world design that was yet typical to shooters.
Pretty cool. I'm a modder for it and a level designer in active work. Recently I was about to add a new mutant to the game which I did myself from scratch. I have alot of passion for the game to refine it with more stuff.
It's still in development and I have to rig the new mutants in Max. Creating indoor worlds is a pain time consuming ass as you have to piece everything together.
Never was much of a Far Cry fan but my father was absolutely mesmerized by this game. I think it was the first game that made me pay attention to details and graphics because when my father played this game he would point out every single little details. Like when you shot the water and it would have a splash effect. That shit blew my father's mind. I think he even built a PC just to run Far Cry 1 at max graphics.
The fricking only thing these days that still gave me this feeling was RDR2 and the occasional photorealistic face. And somehow Deus Ex from fricking 2000 blew my mind with it's attention to detail two decades after it came out. The diminishing returns era sucks.
playing this when it came out was amazing
i pity you sorry little zooms. you’ll never experience a singleplayer fps with pure whimsy like far cry in good faith.
you can pretend you’re having fun while hunting for your shitpost screenshot later, asking us “am i doing this right i dont get it?”.
but your warped little raisin brains need a vine boom and slot machine sounds every couple moments to fully engage so it would probably distract from the “vibe” anyway.
>final update gives the AI x-ray vision just for shits and giggles >trying to sneak into that one clearing with the tent base just has 20 Black folk wallbang you through three tents and the forest brush you're trying to hide in
Cool, thanks, I love it. I know there's a community fix for it, but trying to play that post-patch and pre-fix was agonizing.
I did probably 15 years ago and without the fixes for enemies that can see you through certain objects like tents and the big mutants that will stop vehicles dead
savescum kino
Didn't play much Far Cry but I remember it being pretty janky and not feeling that nice to play. Crysis doesn't have that and it also has insane graphics that still look great and cool superpowers
worst level in video game history where you get lost without a sense of direction and swarmed by 500 monkeys at once
>walking on the rope bridges in the forest canopy.
>random monkeys jumping up from below to 1 shot you
Fricking hell that level was cancer
Valerie car ride in the swamp

OP why are you posting so many FC1 threads lately
source code leaked?
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-full-source-code-of-cryteks-far-cry-has-been-leaked-online/
Probably guerrilla marketing for an incoming FC1 remake/remaster if I had to guess
It will be shit just like all remakes
I've beaten it on veteran.....BARELY
no way I can do it on realistic
FC1 already had a remake called "Far Cry Classic"
I like the game alot. Most don't know this gem exists.
supposed source code leak
No. I've never beaten the game and likely never will.
is this vanilla ?
Yes. Why?
idk looks really cool

Do you still play the game? Like custom maps.
Only once in a blue moon when the mood takes me do I play the vanilla game for a few hours. I've never tried any user made content.

give me your mods i wanna play it

I have never played a far cry game.
Far Cry 1 was trash, especially towards the end.
Yes I was bored enough to complete it like that 18 years ago.
Far cry 2 is the only good far cry
I did, actually.
like 15 years ago.
It's funny to see the self-proclaimed "Dark Souls" generation to get filtered this hard by the only GOOD Far Cry game.
FC2 was, and still is absolute trash.
This anon gets it.
FC2 was brown and bloom console shit literally day 1. Severely dumbed down poorman's STALKER wannabe.
very repetitive open world game like AC1 too, FC1 felt fresh with its new objectives and maps
t. didn’t play it or been to central Africa.
I played it day 1 kiddo. AKA: long before you were born.
Uninstalled it like 5 hours in. It's just literal Black person jeeps 24/7.

Dad stories with early gamings always fun, shit we take for granted blew their damn minds.
tbh it blew my mind too when I was a kid, it's not like we had anything like it before. '04 was a big year: FC, HL2, Doom 3.

always liked the ragdolls/physics in 1 over other games, in later games the ragdolls felt so floaty and in 1 they felt much heavier
Volcano
Yes, the part where you man the turret with the Malary driving was nuts
I liked the mutants

Cryteks final update was the working 1.33. Ubisoft broke it by adding in 1.4
Good to know. I have a retail version from 2004 and 1.33 patch executable. I wonder what 1.4 even tried to update anyway
1.4 is just a patch for multiplayer
>diversity hires ruining everything as usual
it's all so tiresome
i played it unpatched and loved it lmao, made me frantic
I did probably 15 years ago and without the fixes for enemies that can see you through certain objects like tents and the big mutants that will stop vehicles dead
savescum kino
>savescum
but there's no quicksave it FC1, only checkpoints
are you sure? I remember being able to save anytime and certainly remember replaying some sections over and over
apparently you can save anywhere you want with a console command cheat, wish I knew about it back then
Should Jack Carver and Valerie return as characters?
Only if they give her bigger breasts.
cute hd val in 2023 with tight bra FAPFAPFAPFAP
it's the dark souls of FPS genre
Does anyone else remember Far Cry: Instincts?
Is it worse or better than Crysis 1, before the aliums and shit ruined it?
Didn't play much Far Cry but I remember it being pretty janky and not feeling that nice to play. Crysis doesn't have that and it also has insane graphics that still look great and cool superpowers
