Learning japanese is not the real solution because you just slowly give more and more ground to localizers until localization starts affecting Japanese games and those localizers get power. Marketing teams that get paid more to waste time making new cover art that they claim will sell better. They don't get paid residuals so it doesn't matter if it actually helps it sell better or not.
In this game's case it brings it down to the same level as cheap made for girls shovelware you buy for a 6 year old as a birthday present. Anime is more geared towards teens and it's clear the bong distributers are aiming for a younger market.
The western cover has RETVRNed to western art, instead of the eastern perversion that would be releasing it with non-western art in the west.

1) For me it's mainly music, but also production value and depth beyond what I thought would be there. It's a game that you expect to be trash because it's girly but beats your expectations, and that makes it better than if this was a guy game
