They took cheetahs to a dog track and raced them vs greyhounds in the 1930's. While the cheetahs disliked the turns and preferred to run in straight lines, they still roundly beat the doggies for speed by at least 5-6km/h apiece. They didn't test them in a straight line, as they dog owners didn't want their "prize" mutts to be humiliated by a cat and they weren't trained to run anywhere but on a track.
