Let me explain it to you, if ALL artists steal, then all of music is just Grug's mammoth bone flute music, since we know that is not the case, that means art has CHANGED in the millennia since Grug. The artists who brought us from Grug's flute to what we have today, are artists, those who just copied what the artists did without bringing anything of their own to the table, are hacks. Toby is squarely in the latter category since by taking other people's existing melodies and covering them with retro music fonts, he contributed nothing.

                >he contributed nothing
The music he made is better than the music he "stole" it from. So I'd say that's a contribution.

                Anonymous

It's not, you just have an emotional attachment to it because you're a manbaby, from an objective creative standpoint he contributed nothing.

Objectivety on art is a ruse. As well as art itself. Because specially now, Art has been tried to apply to politics, specially with lirycs and shit like piss jesus. Art is something to the observer and the one who made it. Its subjective, and plain art is a reproduccions and doesnt add anything, meanwhile "modern" art is pretencius and scatalogical. Art is nothing else than a label we add to something that is good, and take away from stuff that we dont like. Using art and objective on the same phrase, only shows you are a mononeuronal monkey who doesnt know what hes talking about.

Literally yes. The next guy to make music remembered Grug's mammoth bone flute music and tried to play something like that. And even Grug just noticed you could make a bone make a funny noise sort of like the birds if you carved it right. Every musical innovation is predicated more upon "what convention do we explicitly try to go against" than "what can we do that nobody does".

I 100% agree. There was a real golden age of vidya OSTs at the turn of the century due to the fact that you could suddenly have CD-quality music in games. Ridge Racer Type 4, Jet Set Radio, Katamari Damacy, Forever Kingdom, Sonic Adventure... all fantastic OSTs. It's been a shame to see the industry slide into the same generic orchestral crap that's been plaguing hollywood. I've got nothing against chiptune at all, but the fact that it's basically the only genre where games consistently have good music is a real shame.
Also, it's nice to see someone else who acknowledges how great God Hand's soundtrack was.

I don't like any of his music due to it just being soundfont abusing garbage but the one that stands out is Another Medium, which ironically is the only one that was not featured in that shit orchestra.
Also, he never released the soundtracks for both Undertale and Deltarune properly, both play back at the wrong rates, and for Undertale especially, its pretty shit considering its the same price as the game and is missing tracks.
    >muh samegay
    >muh schizo
Cope Undergays, doesn't change the fact that your soundtrack, which you praise so fricking much, wasn't released properly as opposed to just about every god damn game ever made.

"Soundfont abusing garbage" sounds good to me, what can I say. And I'm not particularly a fan of Another Medium. It's good, but it just kind of "rambles". (I don't know the actual term, not versed in music theory.)
      >missing tracks
What the hell are you talking about?

I like Toby's music, but the GaMetal renditions are much better.
