It's true that it's strong but it's a completely different weapon, you can't spin around with it like with the Lava Gun. You can't use it for the same purpose any more.
it's very good, it's just it takes the arena areas from R&C2/3 and turns them into a full game. It's more focused on the weapon/shooting aspect of the serries, so there's a lot less exploring, platfroming, puzzle, gadgets etc.
if you go in knowing that you'll probably enjoy it.
i'm playing through the future series for the first time since i ignored it when it was new. they leaned so hard into giving both ratchet and clank meaningful back stories its fricking bizarre and unnecessary. ratchet's is a bit more subdued and realistic since the lombax shit was always there but clank is some.. super ai made by an ancient alien dude who gave him the purpose of controlling time? fricking what?
its so weird. this series really immediately went downhill as soon as it came to ps3, it wasn't gradual it was fricking instant. deadlocked was still a very good game mechanically. people (rightfully) complain about the remake but holy frick the future games were some hot garbage as well. insomniac have been pumping out mostly trash for 15 odd years what the frick. spider man was close to being great but still felt very shallow gameplay wise.
In a vacuum, the ps3 games seem mediocre but fine. I hear the gameplay is alright, the story is eh in the first 2 and a crack in time's is good. I haven't played any future games myself, but the only reason they seem like total shit is because the PS2 games mog them in comparison. Although the contrived backstories given to all characters was definitely dogshit writing even if considered in isolation.

Its still a good game, i like that its more combat focused, just as 1 is more platformer focused. It improves on mostly everything 2 does, no annoying spaceship missions either. Its my favourite and its just as good as 2.

vanilla choice but i always thought it was the coolest looking weapon in the first game
I'm a bit miffed they kind of dropped the jury rigged DIY look after just the first game, the way the weapons looked and even the HUD.

You have to buy them but I played the PS2 games from the PSN store back during the PS3 era and I never really had any problems playing them on my PS3.
