It’s ark but there is an element of hunting rares (shinies), doing some very meh dungeons, breeding, catching legendaries, and fighting tower (gym) bosses. it’s fairly difficult, grindy, and a bit barebones at the moment but it is already 10x better and less buggy than ark was after a year. very fun game i hope they focus on the right things; right now it’s equally important to use crafted guns in tandem with your pals. I hope they focus more on the pals in the future

i get enough. it's pretty rare for a poke to be uncatchable with blue. at the stage i'm at (level28) i'm still catching stuff that blues are pretty consistent at (30%+). when i'm trying to catch some rare pal, i'll use the higher tier balls but to be entirely honest the only one that actually gives chances that aren't crap is the red one.
Where I'm at, I have a bunch of blues that I use as disposable balls and then save the greens and yellows for when I think I've worn it down enough, seems repeatedly catching it wears the pal down more and more so I use greens and yellows to seal the deal.
Just put one or two vixens into your ranch and you will soon have more than you can carry.

helps for burst dps but gym leaders are capable of killing good pals in a few hits unless outleveled. pals get their intrinsic skills leveled up when distilled but no idea the % increase on that

Bursting things down isn't necessarily what you really want out of your composition. I have a strong attacking monster and a gun. So I have one flying mount, one best attacker, a Lovander because memes aside it gives a pretty nice lifesteal passive, and my last two slots have been flex slots kind of. I really liked Digtoise but I've built an ore base that he now farms, and I used to have a Daedream but it kept killing things I had at low HP.

NTA but pretty sure raids are timed, I forced all the land based raids at my starting base to reroute (just block some entrances with walls/gates) towards the cliffside slope and they frick off after a few minutes of being stuck there.
Also if you make bases on fully isolated areas, places you can only access via flight or climbing, raids won't even trigger cause it seems there needs to be a viable foot path around the outside of your base for them to even trigger. Only potential issue is your pals will occasionally fall off and KO themselves if you don't put up some sort of barrier to prevent them from walking off a cliff, I don't cause it hurts the view.

The big tree island is blocked off by some kind of barrier. Pretty sure that's where the endgame will be once it's implemented and you'll need to beat the towers beforehand to actually get to it.

A lot of the other flyers have better typing and usually provide some extra buff like making all your weapons do elemental damage while mounted. He's the "baseline" all the others improve on.

It's outclassed by literally every other flying mount. But it's cool and homely and comfy cause it's babby's first flying mount.

Every pal in my party is awesome and useful, I think Menasting looks the coolest out of them even if his AI is consistently dogshit for me. Warsect does good work as well.

A lot of the guns are unique to the pals themselves. Basically all of them can have an accessory built that either lets you ride them, use multiples in battle, or make sure of some combat ability.
Like the dodo birds can be flipped over and used as grenade launcher, or the little grass chimpmunk pulls out an AK and sits on you like in the trailer.

Honestly how interactive the pals are and how many unique animations they have is the part of the game that makes Gamefreak look the worst by comparison.
That an indie company can do this makes GF look like lazy giga-Black folk and makes it abundantly clear that it was never the case that they "can't" improve their games, it's that they don't care.
To be fair Pokemon has over a thousand mons to do animations for, with the majority of them being from games that never had 3D models to port over to lessen the workload. That being said it's hilarious that GF can't just make Palworld-tier animations for the current gen and a hundred or so other mons from other gens with every release until everything is covered. How a bunch of randoms, a middle-schooler, and a konbini worker can mog a multi-billion dollar company with hundreds of employees makes me kek
The wierd thing is that Gamefreak HAS made a lot of model animations, IN THE GAME FILES, but chooses not to use them. Wingull HAS a hovering and flying animation in the game files, but T-poses in the air instead.

Okay so as I understand it, this game mainly wants you to have 3 bases:
- One "farming" base which mainly consists of grazing/planting and gathering pals. Here you want to slap down all the food fields and ranches filled with a variety of pals that drop useful materials, like Flambelle. You also want to outsource food production to this base
- One "gathering" base which optimally is located near ore/stone/tree/paldium nodes. Here you want to have as many mining/lumbering and kindling pals as possible. You also want to outsource ingot production to this base
- One "production" base which has all the production buildings and also doubles down as the main base. Here you want all the assembly stations along with power-generating pals and whatnot
* Every base has need of at least a few logistical pals, like Killamaris
* Every base has need of at least a few amenities to keep pals' sanity high
With this layout production of most things can be automated EXCEPT large-scale logistics between bases (you have to do this manually)

I keep two gathering bases with 2 pals in charge of feeding everyone in each. Also just have a tab in the box dedicated to inventory boosting pals to make the transfer to the production base as fast as possible.
1- noob/farm/ranch/comfy base
2- ore/main production
3- coal outpost/etc
You don't want to dedicate a base just for production while not having resources (aka ore) too, too much of a hassle to manually transport stuff there.
It wants you to have one ore farming base, one coal farming base and one quartz farming base, since you need all three of those to maintain your endgame crafting and they're all in different areas (coal is only on the northern ice continent and quartz is only on the northern desert continent).
Every base should have three berry plantations, 20 beds and two baths in order to keep the workers happy.
Pick one to be your main base. This base will have a farm, your production facilities, and a breeding farm with several egg warmers.

I've been capped at 15 base pals for a long time now on normal.
Hell yeah I am. Why wouldn't you want to turn up the pals per base to 20? If you don't then there's a bunch of completely dead pal box levels.

They’re bad for Pals with larger stomachs as one feeding doesn’t fill them up too much and they will take constant snack breaks. For everyone else he’s fine. If you’re worried about sanity them build high quality spas or put a woolipop in a ranch for easy sanity food. Too many will cause the aforementioned issue since cotton candy fills up about 1/3 of a berry
I use bread.
It's a bit more work turning the wheat to flour then to bread, but you'll need the wheat anyway to make cake for breeding so I figure this solves both issues since bread is more filling and restores SAN.
Mining base will outfarm the nodes recovery rate at ~5 Digtoise and 3 Dumuds. At that point you just need transporters so you can put berry fields in (only 3) and a single transport/planter so it'll be self sufficient forever. At worse use fluffy beds because otherwise the dumuds hog the hotsprings for SAN as they lose it so fast.

The main factor you should consider in base location is flatness at the moment. You want something that can be easily navigated.
The best starting plan is to run around picking shit off the ground, find a ball, beat up a chicken or a woolie by strafe punching, catch it and then use it to catch other starting mons with balls, and try and hit as many eagile statues as possible/cover as much ground as you can.
There's a nice flat piece of land with a bunch of trees and rocks near the starting area with a lake and bridge, you want it flat. Catching 10 of each mon gives good EXP but you can do that in your own time. What you want is to get
>1 lumber
>1 mining
>1 planting
>1 watering
>1 kindling
Mons to run your base. All easily found in the starting area.
I haven't played more than 2 hours, does the resource gathered by the pal respawn daily? Also, do they travel far enough to gather those resources?
Yes the resources respawn as long as you don't build over the spawn point. They'll travel around within the radius of the base, which is fairly large.
Ignore the base, follow the dirt path until you reach a beach and look around the area, there might be a Pal called Vixy which is a small yellow fox, you really want to catch as many of those as possible and put them on a farm.
I hope some sperg remakes some of these Pals they look stupid and ugly, especially Lovander.

there's a tech-tree unlock that lets you change work conditions. You can also pick-up and throw the pals into benches, farms, campfires, ect. to assign them to that one task.

Why do so many of the Pals look like balloons?
Kingpaca, the cow pal, Chillet, Azurobe(?), Quivern, the panda's, etc.

Whenever you free the pal at syndicate camps the entire base goes on a respawn timer i believe.
It'd be funny if the camp respawned at my base and my pals just slaughtered them the moment they spawned. The AI is so braindead that it doesn't take much to beat human characters as long as they're not overleveled.

Flopie Island is such a good central spot. Big waterfall you can build around with a dungeon and black merchant below.
I'm starting to believe that making a dedicated ore mining base(s) is a beginners trap.
My current base is built right next to several ore deposits so my pals focus on the assload of production needed for late-game and I use my refined pickaxe to quickly clear all the ore.
Oh funny enough my base is on the clearing on top of that same hill. above the waterfall. Uneven terrain has caused my pals too much trouble.
That doesn't sound like a trap to me.
Once you get the refined pickaxe you clear the ore out a fraction of the time it takes pals to mine it.
That and It never felt like my pals mined much at all unless I idled for a bit at the mining base.
A free teleport. My main base has all the production and resource gathering I need minus mining which I can do in minutes.
I have a lone palcomputer set up next to several coal veins which I tp to and mine in seconds and just tp it back to my main base.
I don't really care how long it takes them to clear it as long as they're doing it. I've gotten several hundred ingots without doing jack shit already. I feel like they're constantly mining but I do have 3 dudes out with mining 2 at all times.

I actually set up my second base parallel to my first there on the same plateau and offload all my production stuff there
most of it was me just fricking around experimenting with how the game lets you place foundations. Building is in such a dodgy state and there are few desirable house decorations, so the bulk of it is empty
The area below the starting shrine which contains Paldiim, Rocks and an Ore has been a godsend. Dunno what you’re talking about. You kind of need a coal base if you don’t want to waste time traveling in an area with no fast travel points

There just didn't seem to be any incentive to build anything and it seems like there's only drawbacks since Pal pathing gets fricked by literally everything.
I'm building my second base on top of this mountain. There's a shitton of ore, but also coal below and still within the range of my base. It's right in the middle between the Gobfin Turf and Natural Bridge fast travels.

unironically too time consuming. I haven't seen a mining lvl 3. pal yet but even then pals are just way slower at mining than you are at a certain point.
Setting up a whole self sustaining base just isn't worth the time when I can just show up and mine the whole vein in under 2 minutes.
Yeah I dunno I had like 5 dumads running a base with tons of transport pals earlier but I'd show up and they'd have mined almost literally nothing. I can clear a whole base's worth of ore in a fraction of the time and leave the rest of my pals to the massive production requirements that seem to be ramping up towards endgame.
If the ore is distracting them from other shit, can't you just use less miners or build something over where the ore respawns so it doesn't come back?
I'm saying that in my former mining base my pals dedicated to mining hardly mined shit unless I idled within the base.

HP, stamina, and carry weight are good
Weight so you don’t overencumber as often, and stamina so you can climb surfaces longer
If on hard mode just put 10 points in health and chuck the rest in weight limit (put 5 or so in stamina) because all the level 20+ pals will kill you in 1-2 hits anyway.

Every single levelup I’ve gotten has been put into carry weight. I can move mountains. The only reason I ever have to return to base is because my inventory slots get full. I don’t even see the meter that tells me when I’ve reached half capacity anymore.

If you hold 4 you can set your Pals to not attack or to attack your target or to just go ham on everything
This affects your Pals that aren't out but help you kill things like Dazzi and Daedream, so if you have problems with them killing things just set them to passive

If you go to the very bottom middle of the map, there's a nature reserve you can poach mons from. I think it's the only way to find Grizzbolt among a few others. Lots of rare things there.
