Sulfur Cult seems to be contained mostly in Prehevil, but knowledge of the existence of the Sulfur God should be more widespread, guess it's known more in the eastern sanctuaries

You have to enjoy hyper punishing games in the first place, they joy comes from successfully navigating the game to the point where you're the master and the enemies are your b***h after dying and losing a bunch of runs.
If you want to play a game that has actual stakes then it's good. One frick up and you can possibly cripple yourself for the rest of the run. One misstep trying to juke an enemy and you might lose your ability to sprint outside of combat. It's a risky game and has a great atmosphere. It really isn't for everyone. The violent sexual acts adds to the fact that it's a depraved and cruel world, being up against monsters and humans that have lost their humanity. It adds to the sense of being uneasy and dread.

I want to save you brethren so bad, because I was literally just like you guys. Not a single Fear and Hunger (Termina, because it's the only good one) fan is good at selling this game. They either stroke their ego with worthless "It's not for le everyone", "It's le hardcore punishing experience" shit that is a worthlessly pointless thing to say beyond affirming oneself for playing the game since you have ZERO idea who you're talking to, so you have no basis to assume whether it's for them, since they aren't "everyone". Not to mention that the way people interpret and understand the phrase "for everyone" is beyond moronic. There are literal CERTIFIED NORMIES that play these games and love them, you can find dozens of normie streamers and YouTubers that played and love them. Or just read through Steam reviews and the type of morons that review it favourably. "It's not for everyone" is a worthless phrase. NO GAME is "for everyone" if you understand an ounce of logic.
Now...to get to my point.
I have to ask. Because as much as this great is unbelievably surprisingly amazing.
This question is important: Are you desperate enough to currently want to try any game that vaguely seems interesting and invest a ton of hours into figuring it out, simply because your currently tired of everything and need something STRONG to stimulate you?

I'm quite literally the exact same way. Which is why, even though I HATE hyping up games, because expectations can destroy experiences...I have to emphasize that it is such an unbelievable miracle that I am enjoying this game so much. Doubly so considering how much I hated the first.

I actually like the lore a bit, your fight with beings higher than you are nothing more than fighting a shadow of something greater, le garde doing more than being more than just griffith copy #1021231, Cahara and the girl's journey to the depths of the dungeon, Ragnvaldr being what Gut's would've been without his new crew, Darce's journey for legarde, Enki's pursuit for knowledge. I like it, you aren't playing as someone with a major destiny or goal to save the world (everyone but Le'garde), your a nobody with nothing much going on, that's what I like about it.
It reminds me of Thracia 776, where Genealogy of the Holy War has characters with demi-god strength wielding god-like tools, Thracia has a bunch of nobodies with the most simple stuff, yet I enjoy that, because even against odds greater than themselves, they still fight.
TLDR: Game is enjoyable because it has a bunch of nobodies going to the depths of hell.

Just like with everything in life, the joy of success will never out-weigh the sorrow of failure; this is what the fanbase talks about when they say "you have to enjoy pain", following it with "it's not for everyone".

I disagree. All of this only applies to the first game. Particularly because it's also structured like a roguelite, and has shit like randomized floors, and generally just a lot more random bullshit you can stumble into. I almost want to say the second game is just straight up more skilled and focused, structured more like a survival horror game, where dodging enemies feels an actual smart decision you can make. Whereas when I played the first game. I just dodged everything because I didn't want to bother with the shitty combat. Termina actually makes it so you both have a reason to fight enemies and dodge them, and also because the level design is way better and tighter it makes dodging them way more satisfying.
There's a lot more to the second game specifically that I think makes everything it carries over from the first game more forgivable and fun but...I'm too lazy to get into it. I just want to make it known to any doubters that it is WORTH it. Is isn't about cringe shit like "you have to enjoy the pain" or "it's not for everyone" these people come across as emo or goth posers that just want to be different.
