The coin flip is a lie. No matter what you choose, the game will make a roll whether you succeed or not, and then display the corresponding side. Even if you exclusively pick heads or tails every single time, you'll still win/lose just as many rolls.

I had the exact same reaction. It's funny because in any other game I would have probably stopped myself from exploiting this bug in order not to ruin the "intended experience". But here it felt empowering instead to give the game the finger and painstakingly collect 30+ coins. Makes me think that maybe it was even left there on purpose.

I just started my first playthrough because of these threads. I've just been reloading everytime (only twice so far) I've had a limb cut off. Is that a viable strategy or am I going to waste time?
You are just playing it wrong - Always target hands first. Always learn Dash, battles are last resort.
Yeah you're generally pretty sunk when you lose your limbs, however I'd advise you too keep going even with 1-2 lost just for the purpose of learning more about layout, item locations, and what to do against enemies before dying.
yes you should eventually reload if you get a limb cut off early in the game. It's a mechanic that is not well thought out - same with the goddamn awful infections. Although you should use the opportunity of your already cursed run and learn what happens when you e.g. talk to an enemy, jump into a pit and so on.
