Without too many spoilers, can someone help me figure out how to get a good run going? How many party members should I have before I enter the city?

Without too many spoilers, can someone help me figure out how to get a good run going? How many party members should I have before I enter the city?
the main thing is to figure out what spots are fixed to have good items and rush of them, and also knowing how to leverage your random loot to kill enemies that are in your way of them.
For party members you're pretty set just grabbing abella off to the left as soon as possible. You need 2 rotten meat to get their safely, and there's a single fixed spawn and it's otherwise fairly common. Though taking a little damage fighting a dog can be worth it too if you somehow fail to find a second one. With her as an ally you should be safe to kill all of the normal villagers which means at worst you now have enough soul stones to grab all of your own skills in the skill tree.

I should add that I'm playing this autistically, even on my first playthrough.
I'm getting as far as I can using the statue-saves so I don't progress time. I got decent so far, but I'm walled off. I guess I'll have to sleep to try and use the hexen.
if you know what you're doing you can beat the game without the hexen, but using it makes it significantly easier to figure out what to do in the first place. Think of it like training wheels and then once you play more of the game you can go for your no sleep run.

It's just exhausting to randomly die to the mob. Doing the same conversations over and over, etc.

Not spoiling too much, if you manage to get past a certain mandatory bossfight you will be able to use the hexen. Just remember armguards and salmonsnake are your friends and silvian give big benefits to its adherents.

I have the one from the church basement, but the downpour of Bobbys and random Mob spawns are tough to deal with.

Nvm i love helping. If you get to 16 speed with any character you are able to take 2 turns per round, this in escence means that if you have abella on your team, you can hit two of the bobbys three arms, get hit once and ise your second turn to kill the last arm, and then it's just wack a mole when they regrow back. Also if you reach a mall, search the entire thing im not gonna say why tho.
I can reach it with Pep Pills, though I feel like I'm approaching combat wrong in general.
I ALWAYS go for the head. The damage sustained never seems to be worth it, especially when limb loss is taken into consideration.
I have no blue vial recipes, no blue herbs. It's just "one shot or die". Maybe I should restart. I feel bad about it though because I have 4 hours on this save.
Im gonna be honest bro, i had a 6 hours run that i had to ditch couse i was being careless and ran over a beartrap instantly losing my legs.
I ran full speed into a mine because I thought it was a searchable hat on the ground.
It's going to be a long journey for me.
going for the head is generally a mistake. Usually you want to go straight for the torso or aim for a dangerous limb then the torso. Especially once you have enough damage you can still one or two turn kill enemies this way completely consistently, and at worst they have maybe a 50% chance of using tackle. Abella especially helps since wrench throw has an extremely high chance to stun, which lets her fight a lot of enemies safely even by herself.

I guess I'd know due to there being no attack or indication that they're preparing something for next turn
the stun lasts two turns so you can see the status effect in place on the next. Though you can't in the webm since that turn is spent reequipping the weapon.
It's true that you can't see what attack the enemy is going to do so for some it doesn't do a whole lot. But in general there are a lot of enemies that can only use 1 limb at a time, so the stun is excellent for those.

It's hard to walk the tightrope of "beginner help" and "game trivializing spoilers" when looking into strategies to get started.
I beat F&H1 but this game feels much much harder.
Play marcoh ignore woodmen, fight 2 headless dogs and get to the bunker to recruit abella and make her a healbot/bawd, equip her with your best weapon, done now you can kill most enemies without risking too much damage. Also just because I het the Black person with my life needles the clown is extremely weak to fire, turn one throw him a fuel cannister guard with abella to minimize damage, turn 2 throw an ornamental lanter at the fuel cannister, and boom goes the clown, what a Black person.

I found out you can block him using the box, but he just gets out anyway.

I despise the clown but when i discovered his allergies to explosions i became enraptured. Last recommendation vinushka is my favorite god since it gives you fire powers and pinecone pigs, you'll have to discover how on your own tho :^)

Abella is the only member you can get before entering the city or sleeping. You can get Levi right at the entrance to the city if you find some heroin and give it to him. He sucks shit as a party member but a body is a body

I don't think anyone was filtered, he's just annoying.
thats true because needles isnt the filter, its the mob. you will just lose runs to them randomly with no real recourse. at least you'll get access to the best weapon in the game if you win
I just waited around in section of the city that i had completely explored and the moment they appeared ran out of it.
i think they only spawn when you step on specific tiles, they wont just spawn on their own

salmonsnake rune and pray they only meatgrind the person with salmonsnake, or blood golem+pheremones. meatgrinder + leechmongers + ring of wraiths + salmonsnake/heartless armor is literally the strongest build in the game, you will never die (unless its to crimson fathers)
