the dumb part is penetration doesn't make sense, rounds will go through thick walls and then get stopped by something like a closet door or a small coffee table or one of those wooden flexible dividers that are up in some of the bedrooms
it leads to a lot of situations where you should be able to beam someone with an AR but because the game is poorly designed it doesn't work

Game is fun against knives, shotguns and pistols. The guys with automatic weapons are simply way too accurate with them.

Bugged AI with superhuman vision and accuracy is not difficult, it's frustrating.
They can hear you through walls the way you can hear them. Once you realize this and listen for their footsteps too you can circle around most situations. The only map I consider bullshit is the post office one, and the server room in Mindjot, the sorting room is way too big and theres no hard cover, so if you get spotted they just start firing in your direction and you cant even clock where they are, I just gas everything when I know the map has open areas now, and I wish fricking presets werent broken so it was much quicker to just swap your team to a specific loadout

That's one value of the mods that gives them realistic human reaction time and aim. You can see that they are otherwise completely bare-bones in behavior and dare I say moronic. Even without removing their superpowers with mods, the new replay feature works against void's favor in how it shows the suspects behaving in unnatural or bullshit ways.
Many of them stand around with guns drawn just staring into infinity. It's also made it easy to see how they detect you slow walking 200 feet behind them and 180 noscope you in a quarter second before they've even finished saying their voice line of "huh? what was that?"
this is literally the same enemy design since RS6. why does everyone get butthurt now? (yes they always had insane reaction times and shoot you through incredibly tiny slits in the geometry)
In rainbow six 1 they are either sniping you across the map with a pistol while simultaneously executing hostages and detonating a bomb or dying in a pile like lemmings rushing through a doorway single file. Nothing inbetween.

People have been complaining about the ai since day 1, but void has all but ignored it. The “now” aspect is that the 1.0 release has brought a massive influx of new players also saying “what the frick is this enemy ai.”

No game has ever come closer to replicating the feeling of being a GTA cop than this game. The enemies have a chokeholds, prefiring, wallhacks, more health, better teammates, and map knowledge that you simply cannot fathom unless you played the same map for a day straight.

A lot of the shit in the game never happened in real life to the scale portrayed. Most people in real life would run away instead of risking a gun fight. The game exaggerates a lot of the situations for the sake of gameplay. So you have a mission where the swat call ends up being a big gunfight because the streamer is involved in some gang banger shit. Otherwise you're just going into a room to arrest one unarmed idiot and there's no replayability in that.
There's a lot of replayability if the homosexual has 2 other friends and trapped the whole place while hiding in random rooms every time.
It's also a lot more interesting than just giving zero fricks about a briefing and playing a shitty version of cod

We already had a solution to this with the old system where you could have different modes and variations of maps. Story mission could be an actual swatting mission with a "raid" option where we get what we have now. Furthermore they could have not wasted god knows how many man hours completely redoing the hotel, port and cult maps.
Real life swat calls involve waiting hours on the perimeter waiting for the suspect to surrender or for hostage negotiations to talk ti him. Then you wait longer under the commander finally has the balls enough to call for a hard entry only to discover the suspect has already killed himself. Would make a shitty game

You haven't played the game shut up Black person. SWAT AI breaks in larger maps. If a door is creaked open they bug out and refuse to enter it when you tell them. Its gotten to the point where I have to give them an order multiple times. This bullshit is supposed to be 1.0.
The suspect AI is not more clever. They were better in the ADAM update. They would flank when engaged in a firefight or actively retreat. I have not seen that since 1.0.

Anyone who is saying "aimbot" is outting themselves a bad player. I just finished port hoken. Anytime i found myself dying or getting shot, it was due to rushing or making assumptions. Anytime I checked all my corners and moved methodically, i was fine.

I liked when disguised doctors in Relapse would tell me we have learned nothing.
They need more exposition from civilians and suspects. FRICK it would make it worth it to detain suspects in order to get the lore drop.
Not that I remember. There was the Wenderly Hills Hotel which kind of resembled a bank. They turned that map into Sins of the Father. Its kind of weird too how they revamped these maps essentially throwing out the old ones, Hotel, Port, Farm. Seems like a waste when they're completely different. They should at least allow us to play them unofficially.

I had to download the No crack ai mod since i just wanted to true solo in a friends only lobby. It nerfs their aiming, but now you have a chance of telling them to comply before they dome you. Doesnt feel too cheap too since these buttholes fire in full auto anyways, still deadly in close quarters

There was a point last year where the game was actually decent, the ai would go Black personmode every once in awhile but they were generally ok. Then c**tr fricked it all up and they reverted back to the ai 360 over the shoulder noscoping you from 4 rooms away through the walls.

Man this shit made me start up SWAT4 again. I'm getting filtered hard at the night club level but I'm not even mad. Every time it's because I obviously fricked up. Also restarting the mission takes one second instead of several minutes of walking through the station, waiting for a timer and then sitting in a van.

In fairness, the windows a clouded, its harder for the player to see than it is for the AI where they are basically just looking through a clear opening.
Youre absoloutely right, but it requires prior knowledge of a map to know these things.This is not a "I should be able to enter every room and be able to clear it if Im accurate enough" but at the same time there is a lot of necessary map knowledge required to act on that. I realized that if you approach a suspect from 2 angles they almost always surrender, its just slow as frick to set that shit up.
What the frick did they do to this game's AI? This shit is arguably even worse than what it was back when it first launched into EA.
The game was actually enjoyable back when they first hit the Adam update, even if the suspects would sometimes sperg out, but honestly I didn't mind the occasional resilient AI, It spiced things up a bit for me.
It's a real fricking shame because I think the game's atmosphere is cool, and the glowie plot they're building up is genuinely interesting, but holy shit, I just can't get into this game when bullshit like happens regularly. It's so fricking frustrating.

Well, it wasn't actually a Grease Gun but a similar looking SMG by Smith & Wesson called the M76, which was made after the Swedes got buttmad at the US for using their M/45 SMGs during Vietnam. So, it's at least a bit more modern compared to a WWII relic.

I'm guessing it only makes them trigger-happy if they see or hear the flashbangs and C2s explode, but aren't within the stun radius.
The stun grenades still are my only go-to method of making them surrender, since yelling alone does frick-all, though I do have to throw the flashbangs quite close to their feet for them to get stunned

I think this used to be a problem in EA, the trap would clip through the floor or doorframe but still get trigged. I thought they patched it, but I guess not lmao. The only solution was to use the breaching shotgun or c2 from a safe distance.

I dont know how they can make the AI more "fair" it feels like they are able to aim too good, but at the same time, so can your teammates. Dude in the webm is carrying a fricking military LMG. Do you think some plaster, insulation or even basic body armor is gonna do shit against that? What some basic burger paper walls might do is frick up the accuracy of the bullets, but that doesn't help much when there are ~10 of them fired per second.
Those machines are thin sheet metal and wouldn't do much against most rifle rounds. But the one machine looks like a coffee vending machine and if it's filled with cans or bottles of liquid it's probably some of the best cover in the building, at least until it gets shot up.

Personally I complained about the fact that there are no small missions, in second mission you're already dealing with a gang operating on multiple floors. The missions have no pacing, it's large maps with a lot of suspects with very few exceptions.

Bugged AI with superhuman vision and accuracy is not difficult, it's frustrating.
They can hear you through walls the way you can hear them. Once you realize this and listen for their footsteps too you can circle around most situations. The only map I consider bullshit is the post office one, and the server room in Mindjot, the sorting room is way too big and theres no hard cover, so if you get spotted they just start firing in your direction and you cant even clock where they are, I just gas everything when I know the map has open areas now, and I wish fricking presets werent broken so it was much quicker to just swap your team to a specific loadout

No game has ever come closer to replicating the feeling of being a GTA cop than this game. The enemies have a chokeholds, prefiring, wallhacks, more health, better teammates, and map knowledge that you simply cannot fathom unless you played the same map for a day straight.

The game exaggerates a lot of the situations for the sake of gameplay. Otherwise you're just going into a room to arrest one unarmed idiot and there's no replayability in that.
There's a lot of replayability if the homosexual has 2 other friends and trapped the whole place while hiding in random rooms every time.

We already had a solution to this with the old system where you could have different modes and variations of maps. Story mission could be an actual swatting mission with a "raid" option where we get what we have now. Furthermore they could have not wasted god knows how many man hours completely redoing the hotel, port and cult maps.
Real life swat calls involve waiting hours on the perimeter waiting for the suspect to surrender or for hostage negotiations to talk ti him. Its kind of weird too how they revamped these maps essentially throwing out the old ones, Hotel, Port, Farm. Seems like a waste when they're completely different. They should at least allow us to play them unofficially.

Well, it wasn't actually a Grease Gun but a similar looking SMG by Smith & Wesson called the M76, which was made after the Swedes got buttmad at the US for using their M/45 SMGs during Vietnam. So, it's at least a bit more modern compared to a WWII relic.
I hope all of those unusable weapons hung up in the armory alongside the usable ones implies that the devs are planning on making them usable in a future patch or something. Half of the unusable weapons they have hung up there are honestly more appealing to me than most of the actual usable weapons they have available.

No, it's not. It lacks polish and is still clearly unfinished. Co-op is a cluster frick of people getting one tapped in impossible scenarios, and singleplayer is boring because you just funnel your AI teammates into rooms to kills suspects for you.

No, they spent too long on making AI slop artwork and modelling things like furry costumes in the missions rather than getting the fundamentals like AI and a user friendly menu system correct.
I defended them all throughout early access, but this 1.0 is bullshit. Way too many bugs and barely any changes to issues people had while it was still in early access. I don't have any faith in them fixing and finishing the game if they think they can call the game a 1.0 state.
We are supposed to get a roadmap and 1.1 patch after the holidays which will take who knows long. Their reasoning for not updating the game for a year was because it would interrupt their workflow and systems. I do not see anything that could have constituted them not patching the game and if what they said was true, I don't see anything that verifies they will be able to go back to normal patches now. None of the systems work 100% correctly.

I cant imagine playing commander mode in the games current state. I dont know how they can make the AI more "fair" it feels like they are able to aim too good, but at the same time, so can your teammates. Make the flash and stinger disorientate them more or something so there is a reason to use them.
Just play practice mode. It's the same thing, unlocks and all, but you don't have to manage a team of the weirdest racial phenotypes ever conceived.

It can be 'realistic' horror as well, where there aren't any monsters, but the level design itself keeps you on your toes. Swat 4 is full of creepy environments and they could build a level solely around that aspect.

Gas seems to work pretty well, theres only a few maps where they are wearing gasmasks. Beanbag everyone on sight.
As long as they are alive it seems. Be aware, when you shot them and they are incapacitated they can bleed out if you take too long on the mission.

Personally I complained about the fact that there are no small missions, in second mission you're already dealing with a gang operating on multiple floors. The missions have no pacing, it's large maps with a lot of suspects with very few exceptions.
I wish it was actually just a prank call and you genuinely do just end up arresting one dude.

Where? If you mean parsing through images and text and spewing back something halfway coherent, this is not the same AI that is needed for NPC AI behaviour in games. In fact no one has done real research for game AI since FEAR in 2005. The best next thing is swarm behaviour of hordes like in L4D but that's a bit different.

Almost all tactical shooters will have this problem since Friendly AI cannot be as good as human players.
This game is best played with friends like ARMA, SWAT, and SQUAD.
Either find a community or go solo with no AI. It's not any fun if you're just sitting around ordering AI to get killed.
